What is Apotheosis?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.14 guide

Apotheosis is all about making you stronger than ever before while still feeling true to vanilla Minecraft at heart. This pack runs version 8.4.0. The Apotheosis mod itself is the adventure module: it adds Affixes, Gems, World Tiers and everything else you need for RPG-style gear progression, without it taking over the game.[1][2]

Apotheosis is part of a family of mods, and it requires the other three to run. Apothic Attributes adds the new attributes and potion effects. Apothic Spawners lets you pick up and modify mob spawners. Apothic Enchanting fully overhauls the enchanting system.[1]

What you'll be doing

  • Hunting affix items: any item, from vanilla or other mods, can roll affixes. Its rarity, from Common up to Mythic, decides how many bonuses it gets and how strong they are.[1][3]
  • Breaking loot down at the Salvaging Table into Rarity Materials, then spending them at the Reforging Table to make your own affix items.[1][4][5]
  • Socketing Gems into your gear for extra bonuses. Each gem gives different bonuses depending on the type of item it goes into.[1][6]
  • Climbing the five World Tiers, from Haven to Pinnacle. Higher tiers give you better loot and some direct bonuses, but every enemy in your world gets stronger too.[1][7]
  • Fighting Apothic Invaders, which start appearing from the Frontier tier. Each one carries an affix item and always drops it when you kill it.[1]

Where it fits in your progression

Apotheosis is with you from the very start. Affix items show up in loot chests and on mobs, and your World Tier decides how rare they are. The Simple Reforging Table handles items up to Rare rarity. To reforge Epic items or higher, you upgrade it into a full Reforging Table. The Summit tier only opens up after you've slain the Wither.[1][5]

At the very end sits the Augmenting Table, where you upgrade or reroll individual affixes. It costs a lot of experience and uses Sigils of Enhancement as fuel, so it's the place to perfect your build once you have near-endless resources.[1][8]

Watch out: Apotheosis replaces the vanilla armor formula. At high armor and damage values, armor is much less effective than you might expect, which makes Protection and Resistance more important.[9]
Tip: The Chronicle of Shadows is the in-game guidebook, and it's your best reference. It reflects modpack changes, and disabled content won't show up in it.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show whether this pack changes reforging costs or World Tier unlock requirements. Modpacks are able to change both, so check in game.

How do you get started with Apotheosis?

7 parts

Apotheosis is all about affix items, which are gear with bonuses, and gems that you socket into them. The early game is a loop: find affix items and gems, break them down, then use what you get to build your own gear. Here's the order I'd tackle it in.[1][10]

Keep the guidebook handy

The mod has an in-game guidebook called the Chronicle of Shadows. Together with JEI, it covers pretty much everything, and content that a pack disables is hidden from the book.[1]

Find your first affix items and gems

Affix items turn up in loot chests and drop from random entities in your world. Gems come from chest loot and rarely from mobs, and bosses are more likely to drop them. Don't throw anything away yet, because it all feeds the next steps.[1][11]

Picking up your first affix item also reveals the Haven world tier, which is unlocked by default. You can open the tier screen with CTRL+T.[12][13]

Get your first Gem Dust

Gem Dust is an ingredient in most of the crafting stations and sigils in this pack, including the Salvaging Table itself. Any Apothic Gem can be crushed into it. Your first dust has to come from crushing gems with an anvil in-world, and the mod's page says your first two dust need this. After that, you can use the Salvaging Table.[1][14][15]

Build the Salvaging Table

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials, and it turns gems into Gem Dust.[14][15][16]

Each rarity of affix item gives its own material:[16]

  • Common items give apotheosis:common_material.[15][16]
  • Uncommon items give apotheosis:uncommon_material.[15][16]
  • Rare items give apotheosis:rare_material.[15][16]
  • Epic items give apotheosis:epic_material.[15][16]
  • Mythic items give apotheosis:mythic_material.[15][16]

Start reforging your own gear

The Simple Reforging Table lets you reforge items up to Rare rarity. It works on any valid item, even one with no affixes yet. You put in the item, Rarity Materials for the rarity you want, and Sigil of Rebirth as fuel. You then pick one of three offered results.[15][17]

Tip: Each rarity has a base cost of experience, sigils and materials, and the extra choice slots charge double and triple. Modpacks can change these costs, so check JEI instead of trusting a number you saw elsewhere.[17]

Work with gems and sockets

The Gem Cutting Table upgrades gems. An upgrade usually costs Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same purity, and JEI shows the exact cost.[15][18]

If an item has no socket, Sigil of Socketing can add one. To pull gems back out of a socketed item, combine it with Sigil of Withdrawal in a smithing table.[1][11][15]

How does Apotheosis work?

5 parts

Apotheosis is built around a handful of crafting stations. You feed them items: affix items, gems, Rarity Materials and a family of sigils that act as fuel. This section walks through what each station does and how the pieces connect.[16][17][18][19]

Salvaging Table

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials. Each rarity gives its own material: apotheosis:common_material from common items, apotheosis:uncommon_material from uncommon, apotheosis:rare_material from rare, apotheosis:epic_material from epic and apotheosis:mythic_material from mythic.[15][16]

Recipe id: apotheosis:salvaging_table

The table also handles gems. The pack's recipe dump has a salvaging recipe for each rarity of affix item, plus gem recipes for chipped, cracked, flawed and flawless gems that all give Gem Dust.[14][15]

Gem Dust has a bootstrap step. Your first two dust come from crushing two gems with an anvil in the world. After that you can switch to the Salvaging Table.[1][14]

Reforging

Reforging gives an item brand new affixes. It works on any valid item, not only ones that already have affixes, and you can reforge the same item more than once. You start with the Simple Reforging Table, which handles items up to Rare rarity.[17]

For Epic rarity or higher you need to upgrade it into a Reforging Table.[17]

The table has three input slots. The item you want to reforge goes in the center. The top-left slot takes Rarity Materials for the rarity you want to reforge with, and the bottom-right slot takes Sigil of Rebirth, the fuel for this process.[15][17]

One craft makes 6 sigils.

Like a vanilla Enchanting Table, reforging offers three choices. Each one is a possible new form of the item, and none is inherently stronger than the others. Every rarity has a base cost in experience, sigils and materials. The extra choice slots charge double and triple that base cost. Click the choice you want to reforge.[17]

Unverified The sources here do not show this pack's exact experience, sigil and material costs per rarity. The Chronicle of Shadows says modpacks can change reforging costs or block reforging at certain rarities, so check the table in game.

Augmenting Table

The Augmenting Table is an end-game station for upgrading or rerolling single affixes while leaving the rest of the item alone. The upper input slot holds the affix item. The Chronicle of Shadows suggests sticking to Mythic items, though Epic ones are worth considering. The lower slot holds Sigil of Enhancement, the fuel, and you pick the affix you want from a drop-down menu.[19]

One craft makes 4 sigils.

  • Upgrade: costs two Sigils of Enhancement and raises the selected affix's internal strength by 25%. How much that helps depends on the affix.[19]
  • Reroll: costs one Sigil of Enhancement and swaps the selected affix for another of the same type. The alternatives are shown on the left.[19]
  • The upgrade button also shows an experience cost in levels, and the table tells you when an affix is already at max level or has no alternatives.[20]

Gem Cutting Table

The Gem Cutting Table upgrades gems. An upgrade usually costs Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same purity. Purity runs from Cracked up to Perfect, and a Perfect gem can't be upgraded any further.[11][18]

Recipe id: apotheosis:gem_cutting_table

Higher purity costs more: stronger gems need more Gem Dust and higher-tier Rarity Materials. You can read the exact cost for any upgrade in JEI.[18]

Sockets and gems

Sockets are the slots that hold gems, and rarity decides how many an item can roll. Uncommon items may get a single socket, Rare items may get a socket, Epic items may get up to two and Mythic items may get three.[21][22]

To socket a gem, combine the item and the gem in a Smithing Table. You can also right-click the item while hovering it with the gem. Each gem states which items it fits. Unique gems can only be socketed once per item.[1][11]

  • Sigil of Socketing gives sockets to an item that doesn't have any. One craft makes 3.[1][15]
  • Sigil of Withdrawal removes socketed gems. Combine it with the socketed item in a Smithing Table and both the item and all its gems are returned. One craft makes 4.[11][15]

Watch out: Don't plan a gem farm around mob grinders. Gems drop much more often for real players, and have only a very small chance to drop from machines or other automation. Bosses and Invaders are better sources.[11][23]

How do you progress through Apotheosis?

5 parts

Apotheosis gives you two separate ladders to climb in this pack: World Tiers, which scale the world around you, and the crafting stations that let you work with the loot you find. The sources here show no quest chapter for the mod, so this page follows the mod's own in-game guide and the in-pack recipes instead.[15][24]

World Tiers

A World Tier is a per-player strength modifier. Each tier controls what content shows up, how strong enemies are and what bonuses you can get. There are five: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle, and each one raises the difficulty and the rewards over the last.[25]

Tiers do not switch on by themselves. Once you unlock one, open the World Tier Select screen (CTRL+T by default), click the tier's symbol and press Activate. You can switch between tiers at any time.[12]

  1. Haven: enabled by default, though you will not see it until you pick up your first Affix Item.[13]
  2. Frontier: equip an Affix Item in each armor slot and hold an Affixed Weapon in either hand.[13]
  3. Ascent: equip a full set of Uncommon Affix Items, including a weapon, and slay an Apothic Invader.[13]
  4. Summit: get a full set of Rare Affix Items and slay the Wither.[13]
  5. Pinnacle: get a full set of Epic items and slay the Ender Dragon.[13]
Tip: Those are the mod's default requirements. Modpacks can change them, and the sources here do not show whether this pack did, so check the Apothic World Tiers advancements tab in game for the full list.[13]

Higher tiers make higher rarity items and Invaders more common, and they also change which gems can spawn and with which purities. The exact numbers are on the select screen under Detailed Info.[12][25]

Enchanting Table levels

The other ladder is your Enchanting Table level, which tops out at 100. The in-game guide splits it into stages.[26]

  • Level 30: the usual way, with fifteen bookshelves.[27]
  • Level 45: build Hellshelves and add them to your Bookshelves, or head to the Ocean and make Seashelves instead.[28]
  • Level 60: learn Infusion Enchanting, then make a few more of your chosen shelf, infuse them and upgrade them.[28]
  • Level 70: needs a Level 60 table and Deepslate. Craft a Dormant Deepshelf and infuse it into a Deepshelf.[29]
  • Level 75: upgrade your Deepshelves with Echo Shards from the Ancient City and Sculk collected with Silk Touch.[29]
  • Level 80: slay the Warden to unlock Sculkshelves.[29]
  • Level 90: needs a Level 80 table and Dragon's Breath, which you turn into Infused Dragon's Breath for Endshelves.[26]
  • Level 100: only one shelf gives this much power, and making it means fetching a Dragon Head from the outer End. A single Draconic Endshelf lifts a table from Level 90 to Level 100.[26]

Crafting progression

The in-pack recipes follow a clear order. Almost everything starts with Gem Dust, and the pack's salvaging recipes for gems of every purity (chipped, cracked, flawed, flawless, normal and perfect) all give Gem Dust.[15]

Gem Dust and deepslate make Gem-Fused Slate, and that slate is the base for the other items on this page.[15]

Salvaging also drives the rarity materials. The pack has a salvaging recipe for each affix item rarity: Common gives apotheosis:common_material, Uncommon gives apotheosis:uncommon_material, Rare gives apotheosis:rare_material, Epic gives apotheosis:epic_material and Mythic gives apotheosis:mythic_material. The sources do not show what inputs those salvaging recipes take.[15]

Those materials gate the next steps. The iron, gold and diamond smithing templates each use a different rarity material, so they step up in the same order as the rarities. Each craft makes 2 templates.[15]

End game: the Augmenting Table

The Augmenting Table is the end-game crafting station. It upgrades or rerolls single affixes on an item and leaves the rest intact. The guide suggests using it on items of at least Mythic rarity, though Epic ones are worth considering too.[19]

Sigils of Enhancement are its fuel. Upgrading an affix costs two sigils and raises that affix's internal strength by 25%, with the size of the boost varying per affix. Rerolling costs one sigil and swaps the affix for another of the same type.[19]
