What is Apotheosis?

1 part

Same as in the FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 guide

Apotheosis is a content mod that lets you gear up with procedurally generated loot items that have powerful bonuses. It also brings new foes, so the extra power comes with extra danger. This pack ships version 9.1.0.[1][2][3]

Apotheosis is split into modules. Apothic Attributes adds the new attributes and potion effects the rest relies on, Apothic Spawners lets you pick up and modify Mob Spawners, and Apothic Enchanting overhauls the enchanting system. The adventure module is the one that gives you Affixes, Gems and World Tiers.[1]

What you will be doing with it

  • Affix items: affixes can strengthen any item you find, from vanilla or other mods. Each affix item has a Rarity that controls which affixes it gets and how strong they are.[1]
  • Gems and sockets: gems are socketed into affix items for extra bonuses, and a Sigil of Socketing can add sockets to an item that has none.[1][4]
  • World Tiers: there are five, from lowest to highest: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. Higher tiers give better loot but make every enemy in your world stronger.[1]
  • Apothic enemies: once you reach Frontier, Apothic Invaders spawn and always drop an affix item, and Apothic Elites come with extra loot.[1]
  • Crafting your own gear: break affix items down in the Salvaging Table for Rarity Materials, reforge items in the Reforging Table, and at the end of the road use the Augmenting Table to upgrade or reroll single affixes.[1][5][6][7]

The mod's in-game guidebook is the Chronicle of Shadows. It covers the content in much more detail, and content that a modpack disables will not be visible in the book.[1]

Unverified Where this pack's quest book places Apotheosis (its chapter, group, and what comes before and after it), and whether the ATM Star path uses the mod, is told by the quest book itself. The sources used for this guide do not show it.

How do you get started with Apotheosis?

7 parts

Apotheosis is all about gearing up with procedurally generated loot items that carry powerful bonuses. This page walks you through what to find and craft first, and why, so the rest of the mod clicks into place.[1][8]

Step one: make the guidebook

Before anything else, make the Chronicle of Shadows, the in-game guidebook. You create it with a book and a gold ingot. Alongside JEI, it has every bit of information in-game, and content that is disabled in the pack won't show up in it.[1]

Step two: find your first affix items

Affix items turn up in loot chests and drop from random entities that spawn in your world. The rarity you find depends on your World Tier. Items run from Common up to Mythic, and a higher rarity is always stronger than the last.[1][9]

The first tier, Haven, is unlocked when you find your first affix item and is active by default. Press CTRL+T to open the World Tier select screen.[10]

Step three: build a Salvaging Table

Once you have a few affix items, the Salvaging Table breaks them down into Rarity Materials. These are the currency for making your own affix items later. Ordinary equipment and gems can be salvaged too.[1][10][11]

Each rarity gives its own material when salvaged:[11]

Step four: get your first Gem Dust

Gems show up in chest loot and can rarely drop from mobs. Your first two Gem Dust have to come from crushing two gems with an anvil in-world. After that, the Salvaging Table can turn gems into dust for you.[1][13][14]

Step five: start reforging

Reforging gives an item brand new affixes. It works on any valid item, not just ones that already have affixes. Craft a Simple Reforging Table first, which handles items up to Rare rarity. You pay with Rarity Materials, Gem Dust and Sigils of Rebirth.[15]

Step six: sockets and gems

Gems add extra bonuses when socketed into an affix item. To socket one, combine the two in a Smithing Table, or pick up the gem and right-click it onto the item in any inventory. If an item has no socket, a Sigil of Socketing can add one, up to two per item.[13][16]

Where to go next

The Augmenting Table is an end-game crafting station that upgrades or rerolls single affixes on an item, using Sigil of Enhancement as fuel. It is best saved for Mythic items, and maybe Epic ones.[18]

How does Apotheosis work?

9 parts

Apotheosis doesn't have power, fluids or multiblocks to wire up. Its core mechanics are a handful of crafting stations that run on items and your experience levels: salvaging, reforging, augmenting and gem handling. Here's how each one works in this pack.[11][15][17][18]

Salvaging Table

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials. Ordinary equipment and gems can be salvaged too.[11]

Each rarity gives its own material. These are the materials Reforging and Gem Cutting consume.[11][15][17]

Gems salvage into Gem Dust. The pack has a salvaging recipe for every purity from cracked up to perfect. To get started, crush gems with an anvil in the world. After that you can use the Salvaging Table instead.[12][14]

      Reforging

Reforging gives an item brand new affixes. It works on any valid item, not only ones that already have affixes. A Simple Reforging Table reforges items up to Rare. For Epic and above you upgrade it into the full Reforging Table.[15]

      • The center slot holds the item you want to reforge.[15]
      • The top-left slot holds Rarity Materials for the rarity you're reforging with.[15]
      • The bottom-right slot holds Sigils of Rebirth, the fuel for reforging.[15]

Like an Enchanting Table, reforging offers three choices, and none is inherently stronger than the others. Each rarity has a base cost in levels, materials and sigils. The second and third choices need double and triple the level requirement and materials, but they only spend one, two or three levels' worth of experience. Click the choice you want to reforge. You can reforge the same item more than once.[15]

      Augmenting Table

The Augmenting Table is the end-game station for working on single affixes while leaving the rest of the item intact. The upper slot takes the affix item, and the guide suggests Mythic or at least Epic. The lower slot takes Sigils of Enhancement, the fuel. You then pick the affix from the drop-down menu.[18]

      • Upgrade: costs two Sigils of Enhancement and 225 levels, and raises the internal strength of the affix by 25%. Affixes without levels can't be upgraded.[18]
      • Reroll: costs one Sigil of Enhancement and 175 levels, and swaps the selected affix for another of the same type. The alternatives are shown on the left.[18]

      Gems, sockets and gem cutting

A gem's purity alone sets its strength, and higher purity gems cost more to upgrade. A Perfect gem can't be upgraded any further. To socket a gem, combine it with the item in a Smithing Table, or pick the gem up and right-click it onto the item in any inventory. Some gems are Unique, so only one copy fits in an item.[13]

To take gems back out, combine the socketed item with a Sigil of Withdrawal in a smithing table. The item and all its gems are returned. If an item has no sockets, a Sigil of Socketing can add them, up to two per item.[13][16]

The Gem Cutting Table upgrades gems. An upgrade usually costs Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same purity. Stronger gems need more dust and higher-tier materials, and JEI shows the exact cost.[17]

      Gem Case

The Gem Case stores gems, up to thirty two thousand of each type and purity, and it can be upgraded to hold more. It has a name filter and an item filter, so you can search by gem name or by what fits in a specific item.[19]

It also has six auxiliary slots for upgrade materials. If the materials and gems are there, you can upgrade gems right inside the case, which effectively obsoletes the Gem Cutting Table.[19]

The Gem Case of House Fabergé has a storage capacity of two billion. You can't craft it directly. It is made with Infusion Enchanting, using the infusion recipe below.[12][19]

      Keep Nbt Infusion (apothic_enchanting)

        Recipe id: apotheosis:infusion/ender_gem_case

        Infusion Enchanting

Infusion is a crafting method that runs through the enchanting table. Each infusion recipe has a single item input and three stat requirements, usually a minimum and sometimes a maximum. Infusions only use the third slot, cost three Lapis Lazuli, and charge the level cost of the recipe's requirement, with a minimum of 3. Place the item in the slot, and if your stats are right the third slot lights up. Click it to infuse.[20]

This pack uses infusion for items such as God-Fused Pearl and Infused Spawner Rune.[12]

        Spawner Runes

Apothic Spawners lets you move and modify mob spawners, and Apotheosis replaces its upgrade recipes with Spawner Runes. The runes in this pack's recipe list are:[12][21]

World Tiers and what they control

World Tiers are per-player. They change what content shows up, how strong enemies are, and the rarity and gem purity weights for loot. There are five: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. A newly unlocked tier doesn't switch on by itself, so activate it in the select screen, which opens with CTRL+T by default. In multiplayer, players can sit on different tiers, and most content uses the tier of the closest player.[22][23]

        Pack-specific loot categories

This pack generates a data map at load time that assigns modded items to Apotheosis loot categories, so affixes fit them properly. Silent Gear's axe, mace and spear count as melee weapons, and its shield counts as a shield. The AllTheModium alloy paxel, Oritech's promethium pickaxe and Oritech's hand drill count as breakers.[24]

The same map also files the Draconic Evolution draconic staff and chaotic staff under melee weapons. See Silent Gear, AllTheModium and Oritech for the other mods involved.[24]

How do you progress through Apotheosis?

        4 parts

Apotheosis gives you two progression tracks: World Tiers, which scale the loot and the enemies around you, and Enchanting Table levels, which you build up with better shelves. Together they set your pace.[22][25]

        World Tiers

A World Tier is a per-player strength modifier. There are five of them: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. Each one raises the world difficulty and the available rewards over the last. Tiers also shift the rarity weights, so higher rarity items and Invaders become more common as you climb.[22]

Each tier unlocks through advancements. These are the default requirements, and modpacks may change them, so check the "Apothic World Tiers" advancements tab in your own game for the complete list.[26]

        • Haven: unlocked by default, but you won't see it until you pick up your first Affix Item.[26]
        • Frontier: equip an Affix Item in each armor slot and hold an Affixed Weapon in either hand.[26]
        • Ascent: equip a full set of Uncommon Affix Items, including a weapon, and slay an Apothic Invader.[26]
        • Summit: acquire a full set of Rare Affix Items and slay the Wither.[26]
        • Pinnacle: obtain a full set of Epic items and slay the Ender Dragon.[26]
Tip: Unlocking a tier does not turn it on. Open the World Tier Select screen (CTRL+T by default), click the tier's symbol and press Activate. The Detailed Info button shows that tier's rarity and purity weights and its Tier Augments.[23]

Tier Augments are modifiers applied to players and/or mobs in that tier. They include limits on your maximum enchanting and damage reduction for monsters in Summit and Pinnacle. You can switch between unlocked tiers at any time unless a modpack has disabled manual changes.[22][23]

        Enchanting Table levels

        1. Level 30: the usual way, with fifteen bookshelves.[27]
        2. Level 45: build Hellshelves and add them to your Bookshelves. If you'd rather skip the Nether, Seashelves from the Ocean work too.[28]
        3. Level 60: learn Infusion Enchanting, then build a few more of your shelf type, infuse them and upgrade them.[28]
        4. Level 70: needs a Level 60 table and Deepslate. Craft a Dormant Deepshelf and infuse it into a Deepshelf.[29]
        5. Level 75: upgrade your Deepshelves with materials from the Deep Dark. Echo Shards come from the Ancient City, and Sculk needs Silk Touch.[29]
        6. Level 80: slay the Warden, which allows crafting Sculkshelves.[29]
        7. Level 90: needs a Level 80 table and Dragon's Breath. Infused Dragon's Breath is a core component of Endshelves.[30]
        8. Level 100: the maximum. Only one shelf gives this, and it needs a Dragon Head from the outer End. A single Draconic Endshelf takes a table from Level 90 to Level 100 but adds no other stats.[30]

        Crafting stations and salvaging

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down by rarity. The in-pack salvaging recipes give Mysterious Scrap Metal from Common, Timeworn Fabric from Uncommon, Luminous Crystal Shard from Rare, Arcane Sands from Epic and Godforged Pearl from Mythic items. Gems of every purity salvage into Gem Dust.[12]
