What is Apotheosis?

3 parts

Apotheosis is a content mod that makes you stronger while staying true to vanilla mechanics. This pack ships version 8.5.1. The part covered in this guide is the Adventure Module, which gives you procedurally generated loot with powerful bonuses. The catch is that new foes show up too.[1][2][3]

What it does

  • Affixes: bonuses you can find on any item, vanilla or modded. Each affix item has a rarity that decides which affixes it gets and how strong they are.[1][4]
  • Gems and sockets: gems go into sockets on affix items and add extra bonuses on top of the affixes.[1][5]
  • World Tiers: five tiers from Haven up to Pinnacle. Higher tiers give better loot but make every enemy in your world stronger. Summit only unlocks after you slay the Wither.[1]
  • Apothic Invaders and Elites: empowered mobs that carry extra loot. Invaders always drop an affix item.[1]

Who it is for

If you want RPG-style gear progression without it taking over the whole game, this is your mod. You find gear, break it down, then rebuild it into something better, so it suits players who like chasing loot and tuning a build.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack's Apotheosis Gear quest chapter starts with "Apotheosis Adventure" quest, where you farm mobs for an Gem. Next comes "Gem Dust" quest, then the Salvaging Table and the Simple Reforging Table. The quests describe the Simple Reforging Table as only reaching Rare affixes.[6]

To reforge Epic items or higher, you upgrade it into a Reforging Table. At the very end of the road is the Augmenting Table, an end-game station for upgrading or rerolling single affixes. It needs a Nether Star and two apotheosis:mythic_material to make.[7][8]

Tip: Don't skip the Gem Dust step. The quests tell you to smash common or uncommon gems with an anvil to get your first dust, and that dust unlocks the Salvaging Table.[6]

How do you get started with Apotheosis?

7 parts

Apotheosis in this pack is all about affix items and gems, and almost everything starts with one humble drop. Here is the order I'd go in, with the real in-pack recipes shown as we reach them. The mod also has an in-game guidebook, the Chronicle of Shadows, if you want more detail than a wiki page can give you.[1][9]

Find a gem

The pack's first quest in this line, "Apotheosis Adventure" quest, points you at the Gem. Gems are rare drops from any mob and are confirmed drops from Invaders, so for now the quest tells you to farm mobs. Gem drops are more common for real players than for machines, which have a very small chance to drop them, so automation is a poor fit at this stage.[6][10]

Crush it into Gem Dust

Gem Dust is the key ingredient for the early game. Drop an anvil on a gem to crush it, as in "Gem Dust" quest. The mod's own description says your first two dust have to come from an anvil crushing two gems, and after that you can switch to the Salvaging Table.[1][6][11]

Build the Salvaging Table

The Salvaging Table is your first real station. It breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials and turns gems into Gem Dust, so you no longer need anvils. Check out "Salvaging Table" quest for the pack's take on it.[6][11][12]

Each rarity of affix item gives its matching material: apotheosis:common_material from Common, apotheosis:uncommon_material from Uncommon, apotheosis:rare_material from Rare, apotheosis:epic_material from Epic and apotheosis:mythic_material from Mythic. These materials are the currency for everything that follows.[6][12]

Make your first affix items with the Simple Reforging Table

The Simple Reforging Table works a bit like an enchanting table, but for affixes. You put the item in the centre slot and the Rarity Material in the left slot, and you get three choices. The second and third choices cost more. In this pack it can only give you affixes up to Rare.[6][7]

Reforging also needs Sigil of Rebirth as fuel, and the quest notes it's one of the easier sigils to craft. It needs Gem-Fused Slate, which is made from Gem Dust and deepslate.[6][7][13]

Sockets and gem upgrades

Gems only work in items that have sockets. If your gear has none, craft a Sigil of Socketing and combine it with the item in a Smithing Table, which can give you up to 2 sockets. Socketing a gem into an item is also done in a Smithing Table.[6][10]

To make a gem stronger, use the Gem Cutting Table. An upgrade usually costs Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same purity, and JEI shows the exact cost. See "Getting better Gems" quest for the pack's version.[6][14]

Tip: Once you start collecting lots of gems, the Gem Case stores them and can upgrade gems right inside it, which makes the Gem Cutting Table obsolete.[15]

World Tiers

The first tier, Haven, unlocks when you find your first affix item and is active by default. Later tiers have to be unlocked and then activated by hand. Press CTRL+T to open the World Tier select screen, pick a tier and hit the Activate button.[16][17]

How does Apotheosis work?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.1.1 guide

Apotheosis gear runs on a loop of stations: break down affix items for materials, spend those materials to reforge or augment gear, and use gems for extra bonuses. Each station is a single block with a few input slots.[1][18][19][20]

Salvaging Table

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials. Each rarity gives its own material: common gives apotheosis:common_material, uncommon gives apotheosis:uncommon_material, rare gives apotheosis:rare_material, epic gives apotheosis:epic_material and mythic gives apotheosis:mythic_material.[18][21][22]

The same table also turns gems into Gem Dust. Dust is the base ingredient for most of the crafting in this mod.[1][22][23]

Tip: Your very first Gem Dust has to come from an anvil. Drop any Apothic Gem into the world and make an Anvil block fall on it. After that you can use the Salvaging Table instead.[21][23]

Reforging

Reforging gives an item brand new affixes. It works on any valid item, not only ones that already have affixes. You start with the Simple Reforging Table, which handles items up to Rare. For Epic and above you upgrade it into the Reforging Table.[19]

The table has three input slots. The center slot holds the item. The top-left slot holds Rarity Materials for the rarity you want to reforge with. The bottom-right slot holds Sigil of Rebirth, the fuel for reforging.[19][22]

Like an Enchanting Table, reforging offers three choices, and none is inherently stronger than the others. Each rarity has a base cost of experience, sigils and materials, and the extra choice slots charge double and triple that base cost. You click the choice you want to reforge. Items can be reforged multiple times.[19]

Watch out: The in-game guide says modpacks can change reforging costs or block reforging at certain rarities. The tables show their max rarity in their tooltip, so check it in game before you spend materials.[19][21]

Augmenting

The Augmenting Table is the end-game station for working on individual affixes. You can upgrade or reroll one affix and leave the rest intact. The upper slot holds the affix item. The guide suggests only augmenting Mythic items, or possibly Epic ones. The lower slot holds Sigil of Enhancement, and you pick the affix from a drop-down menu.[20]

  • Upgrade: costs two Sigils of Enhancement and raises the internal strength of the chosen affix by 25%. How much that helps depends on the affix.[20]
  • Reroll: costs one Sigil of Enhancement and swaps the chosen affix for another of the same type. The alternatives are shown on the left.[20]

Gems, sockets and cutting

To socket a gem, combine it with the item in a Smithing Table. Each gem lists the items it fits, and some gems are Unique, so only one copy fits per item. Gems can also be socketed by right-clicking the item while holding the gem over it.[1][24]

To take gems back out, combine the socketed item with a Sigil of Withdrawal in a smithing table. The item and all its gems are returned. If an item has no sockets, the Sigil of Socketing can add one.[1][24]

The Gem Cutting Table upgrades gems. An upgrade usually costs Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same purity. Higher purity costs more dust and higher-tier materials, and the exact cost shows in JEI. A Perfect gem can't be upgraded any further.[24][25]

Tip: Don't plan on farming gems with machines. Gem drops are more common for real players, and have only a very small chance to drop from machines or other automation sources.[24]

Gem Case

The Gem Case is your bulk storage for gems. It holds up to thirty two thousand gems of each type and purity, and can be upgraded to hold more. It has a name filter and an item filter, which searches for gems that fit a specific item.[26]

It also has six auxiliary slots for upgrade materials. If the materials and gems are present, you can upgrade gems right inside the case, following the purity upgrade recipes. The guide says this effectively obsoletes the Gem Cutting Table.[26]

How do you progress through Apotheosis?

7 parts

Apotheosis progression in this pack runs through the quest chapters, and it all starts with a single Gem. The first quest, "Apotheosis Adventure" quest, says gems are rare drops from any mob and confirmed drops from Invaders. It says you'll learn more about Invaders later, and for now it just asks you to farm mobs.[6]

Step 1: Gem Dust and the Salvaging Table

Next up is Gem Dust. At this early stage, the quest says to smash a gem with a falling Anvil to get it, and it recommends using only Common and Uncommon gems for this. Gem Dust is needed for many recipes, including the Salvaging Table.[6][28]

The quest line presents this table as the way to get materials and Gem Dust without anvils.

The Salvaging Table gives you materials and Gem Dust without Anvils. You can recycle tools and armor with affixes for materials, and the rarity of the item decides which material you get. Gems salvage into Gem Dust.[6][13][28]

Rarity materials

The quests say each rarity has its own material, made by salvaging items of that rarity. They also describe which World Tiers each rarity shows up in:[6]

  • Common: apotheosis:common_material. The quest says it shows up most in Haven and stops appearing after Summit.[6]
  • Uncommon: apotheosis:uncommon_material. The quest says it starts appearing in Haven, is most abundant in Frontier, and stops in Pinnacle.[6]
  • Rare: apotheosis:rare_material. The quest says it appears in all World Tiers but is most common in Ascent.[6]
  • Epic: apotheosis:epic_material. The quest says it appears after Frontier and is most common in Pinnacle.[6]
  • Mythic: apotheosis:mythic_material. The quest says it is found only in Summit and Pinnacle, and is most common in Pinnacle.[6]

Step 2: Gems, affixes and reforging

The quest describes the Gem Cutting Table as the way to change a gem's rarity, which increases its power. It says you use 2 of the same gem plus rarity materials.[6]

The Simple Reforging Table works like an Enchantment Table, but for affixes. Put your item in the center slot and a rarity material in the left slot, and the material sets the affix rarity. You get 3 choices, and the second and third cost more. It can only give you up to Rare affixes.[6]

Sigils

The quest says sigils change items you already have, and that they are used with the item in a Smithing Table, Reforging Table or Augmenting Table.[6]

  • Sigil of Socketing adds sockets. Combined with your item in a Smithing Table, you can get up to 2 sockets.[6]
  • The quest says Sigil of Withdrawal separates a gem from an affixed tool in a Smithing Table, so you keep both.[6]
  • The quest says Sigil of Unnaming shortens a long affixed name in a Smithing Table, and that only the material, item type and rarity color stay.[6]
  • The quest says Sigil of Rebirth is the fuel for all the Reforging Tables, which still need the rarity material and the item.[6]
  • The quest says nobody knows how to craft Sigil of Malice, and only mentions rumors that Invaders drop it.[6]
  • The quest says Sigil of Supremacy cannot be crafted either. It says you can obtain it by beating 100 waves of the Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders, and that it strengthens every affix on the gear.[6]

End game: the Augmenting Table

The Augmenting Table is the end-game station for perfecting single affixes. Its quest comes after the Sigil of Enhancement and Godforged Pearl quests. You can reroll an affix for 1 Sigil of Enhancement, or upgrade it for 2. An upgrade raises the affix's internal strength by 25%. The in-game guide suggests augmenting items of at least Mythic rarity, though Epic ones can be worth it too.[6][8]

World Tiers

World Tiers are a per-player strength modifier. There are five: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. Higher tiers make higher rarity items and Invaders more common. Tiers do not activate automatically, so after you unlock one, select it and press Activate. The World Tier Select Screen opens with CTRL+T by default.[17][29]

These are the default unlock requirements from the in-game guide. The guide notes that modpacks may change them, so check the Apothic World Tiers advancements tab in game for the full list.[30]

  • Haven: unlocked by default, but you won't see it until you pick up your first Affix Item.[30]
  • Frontier: equip an Affix Item in each armor slot and hold an Affixed Weapon in either hand.[30]
  • Ascent: equip a full set of Uncommon Affix Items including a weapon, and slay an Apothic Invader.[30]
  • Summit: have a full set of Rare Affix Items and slay the Wither.[30]
  • Pinnacle: have a full set of Epic items and slay the Ender Dragon.[30]

How does Apotheosis work with other mods?

2 parts

Apotheosis connects to other mods in this pack mainly through Gateways. Apotheosis has its own recipes for the Gate Pearl, and the pack changed the ones listed below.[13]

Gate Pearl recipes

The Gate Pearl recipes come in ascent, summit and pinnacle versions. Each is a shaped crafting recipe, and each uses Gem Dust along with other Apotheosis materials. The pinnacle one also uses items from Apothic Enchanting.[13]

Tip: The pinnacle recipe needs a Sigil of Malice. The quest book says nobody knows how to craft that sigil and that rumors point to Invaders dropping it, so plan for that before you chase the top Gate Pearl.[6][13]

Quests that tie into Gateways

The quest book links Gateways and Apotheosis in a few places. Apotheosis Gems are described as rare drops from any mob, and as confirmed drops from Invaders. That's one more reason to take on the gateway fights.[6]

The Sigil of Supremacy quest, a quest in "Apotheosis Gear", comes after the Gate Pearl quest about the Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders. It says the sigil can't be crafted and that you get it by beating 100 waves of that gateway. It makes every affix on a piece of gear stronger without sacrificing any.[6]

The Sigil of Malice quest, a quest in "Apotheosis Gear", is the other sigil you can't craft. It only says the sigil is rumored to drop from Invaders, and that players found it made one affix stronger while costing them another.[6]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Apotheosis?

4 parts

Apotheosis quests are split across two chapters in this pack: "Apotheosis Gear", which is the big one, and "Chapter 2: The Cool Parts", which has quests that overlap with it. Here's how the quests lay out the flow.[6][28]

Apotheosis Gear: getting started

  1. "Apotheosis Adventure" quest asks you to get a Gem. The quest says Gems are rare drops from any mob and confirmed drops from Invaders, and for now it tells you to farm mobs.[6]
  2. "Gem Dust" quest asks for Gem Dust. The quest says you get it by smashing a Gem with a falling Anvil, and it recommends only Common and Uncommon Gems for this.[6]
  3. After Gem Dust, the quest book lists several quests that follow it: "Getting better Gems" quest (the Gem Cutting Table), "Simple Reforging Table" quest (the Simple Reforging Table), "Vials and Sigils" quest, and "Salvaging Table" quest (the Salvaging Table).[6]

The Gem Cutting Table quest says the table is used to raise a Gem's rarity, which increases its power. The Simple Reforging Table quest says it works like an Enchantment Table but with Affixes: you get 3 choices, and it can only give up to Rare Affixes. The Salvaging Table quest also lists a prerequisite called "Applying Gems (and others)".[6]

Rarity material quests

After the Salvaging Table, five quests each ask for one rarity material, which the quests say is made by salvaging items of that rarity. Each quest also describes which World Tiers that rarity shows up in.[6]

  • "Mysterious Scrap Metals" quest (Common) asks for apotheosis:common_material. The quest says Common shows up most in World Tier: Haven and stops appearing after World Tier: Summit.[6]
  • "Timeworn Fabric" quest (Uncommon) asks for apotheosis:uncommon_material. The quest says it starts in World Tier: Haven, is most abundant in World Tier: Frontier, and stops in World Tier: Pinnacle.[6]
  • "Luminous Crystal Shard" quest (Rare) asks for apotheosis:rare_material. The quest says Rare appears in all World Tiers, most commonly in World Tier: Ascent.[6]
  • "Arcane Sands" quest (Epic) asks for apotheosis:epic_material. The quest says Epic appears after World Tier: Frontier and is most common in World Tier: Pinnacle.[6]
  • "Godforged Pearl" quest (Mythic) asks for apotheosis:mythic_material. The quest says Mythics are found only in World Tier: Summit and World Tier: Pinnacle, where they are most common.[6]

Arcane Sands and the Simple Reforging Table come before "(Better) Reforging Table" quest, which asks for the Reforging Table. The quest says it can give Epic and Mythic Affixes along with the earlier ones.[6]

Sigils

"Vials and Sigils" quest asks for a Gem-Fused Slate and introduces sigils. The quest says they are used to change your Affixed items with a Smithing Table, Reforging Table or Augmenting Table. It leads to six sigil quests.[6]

"Augmenting Table" quest comes after the Sigil of Enhancement quest and the Godforged Pearl quest. It asks for the Augmenting Table, which the quest says lets you reroll Affixes, choose a specific Affix, or upgrade set Affixes.[6]

The last quest in the chapter is a quest in "Apotheosis Gear", for the Sigil of Supremacy. The quest says it can't be crafted, that you can obtain it by beating 100 waves of the Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders, and that it strengthens every affix on the gear without sacrificing any.[6]

Chapter 2: The Cool Parts

This chapter has Apotheosis quests that follow the same early path. "Gem Dust" quest covers Gem Dust again and says it's needed for many recipes, including the Salvaging Table. a quest in "Chapter 2: The Cool Parts" asks for the Salvaging Table and points you toward Luminous Crystal Shards from salvaging Rare Affixed items.[28]

"Diamond Upgrade Template" quest comes after that and asks for the Smithing Template. It explains that Apotheosis adds upgrade templates from Stone to Diamond, which help you keep enchants and Affixes on an item while upgrading it.[28]
