What is Ender IO?

2 parts

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod. It adds machines, conduits, armor, tools, weapons, inventory management and mobs, plus enchantments and decorative blocks. If you like building a base around automation and moving things from A to B, this is the mod for you.[1]

This pack ships Ender IO 8.0.7-alpha, and it has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. It's a rewrite of the classic mod for modern Minecraft, so some older features haven't been ported yet. If you remember something from the old versions and can't find it, that may be why.[1][2]

Conduits are the star

Conduits are what most players reach for first. One conduit network can carry several kinds of traffic: item, fluid, energy and redstone. There are also integration conduits for Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemicals.[1]

Where it fits in this pack

The early quest a quest in "New Beginning" in the New Beginning chapter comes after the Power quest. It explains that not every mod shares energy between machines the way Mekanism does, and that some mods need you to move it with pipes, cables or conduits. Handing in Conduit Bundle is one of several accepted options, alongside Pipez, Mekanism, Powah and Oritech energy transport. So you can use Ender IO for this step, but you don't have to.[3]

The quest also tells you that each machine and pipe has its own configuration for where energy goes in and out, and that you need some kind of wrench on each end of an energy pipe to set which side pushes and which side pulls.[3]

Unverified No in-jar guidebook was found for this mod, and the sources don't show Ender IO on the ATM Star quest path. Check in-game before you plan a progression around it.

How do you get started with Ender IO?

5 parts

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with machines, conduits and inventory management. In this pack the first thing to learn is how its conduits work, because moving power is what the pack's quest book points you at. Here is a sensible order to go in.[1]

Build an Alloy Smelter

The pack adds its own recipe for the Alloy Smelter, shown below.[4]

The quest a quest in "New Beginning" sits in the New Beginning chapter right after the Power quest. Its task accepts an Conduit Bundle along with pipes and cables from other mods, and it explains that some mods need you to move energy yourself instead of machines just sharing it.[3]

Tip: That quest says each machine and pipe has its own configuration for where energy goes in and out. For energy pipes, it says you need some sort of wrench on each end to choose which side pushes and which pulls.[3]

Set up energy storage

How does Ender IO work?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.8 guide

Ender IO is a full-featured tech mod with machines, conduits, inventory management, armor, tools and weapons. This section covers what the mod page and the pack's recipes confirm: the conduit types, and how this pack crafts its power storage, filters, a few machines and some glass and alloy blocks.[1][5]

Conduits

Ender IO lists these conduit types: Item, Fluid, Energy, Redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism Chemicals. The Applied Energistics 2 and Refined Storage conduit modules are included in the full mod jar.[1]

This pack adds its own way to get a Conduit Bundle: you combine an AE2 cable with a Conduit Binder. There is a separate recipe for the glass, covered and dense covered cable types.[5]

How do you progress through Ender IO?

5 parts

The only quest in the sources that touches Ender IO is in the New Beginning chapter (a quest in "New Beginning"). It unlocks after the Power quest. You complete it by getting an Conduit Bundle, or an energy pipe or cable from Pipez, Mekanism, Powah or Oritech.[3]

The quest text explains that not every mod shares energy between machines automatically, so you sometimes have to move it yourself. Each machine and pipe has its own configuration for where energy goes in and out. For energy pipes you need a wrench on each end to choose which side pushes and which pulls.[3]

The pack changed the decompression recipes for the Ender IO alloy blocks: conductive, copper, dark steel, end steel, energetic, pulsating, redstone, soularium and vibrant. Each one now unpacks from its All the Compressed 1x version.[4]

How does Ender IO work with other mods?

5 parts

Ender IO doesn't live on its own in this pack. Its conduits can carry Mekanism chemicals, and the pack adds or changes recipes that tie its alloys and conduits into several other mods. Here's what the recipes and quests show.[1][4]

Mekanism

The pack adds recipes that turn Mekanism's basic, advanced and elite pressurized tubes, and its Advanced Thermodynamic Conductor, into an Conduit Bundle using a Conduit Binder. There are also upgrade recipes that make a conduit from Infused Alloy or from Reinforced Alloy.[4]

One of the pack-added Mekanism-to-conduit recipes.

A quest in the New Beginning chapter, a quest in "New Beginning", comes after the Power quest and lists the Ender IO conduit as one of the ways to move energy between machines. The other options it names are Pipez, Mekanism, Powah and Oritech. The quest says each machine and pipe has its own configuration for where energy goes in and out, and that you'll need a wrench on each end of an energy pipe to set which side pushes and which pulls.[3]

Mystical Agriculture

Mystical Agriculture essences can be crafted straight into Ender IO materials. The pack changed these recipes for the conductive, copper, dark steel, end steel, energetic, pulsating, redstone and vibrant alloys, for soularium, and for Grains of Infinity.[4]

Productive Bees

The pack changed a set of Productive Bees centrifuge recipes that output Ender IO nuggets together with Wax. They cover the same alloys as above, plus Grains of Infinity.[4]

Oritech

Oritech's Fluid Pipe and Pump have pack-changed recipes that need an Conduit Binder. The pump also needs an Motor.[4]

Which All the Mons quests use Ender IO?

1 part

Ender IO only shows up in one quest in this pack, and it's in the "New Beginning" chapter. It's a short section, but the quest is a handy one if you're about to start moving power around.[3]

New Beginning: moving energy

The quest a quest in "New Beginning" comes right after the Power quest in that chapter. It asks you to get hold of an energy-moving item, and you have a choice: the task accepts any one of Pipez's energy pipe, Mekanism's basic universal cable, Powah's starter energy cable, Oritech's energy pipe, or Ender IO's Conduit Bundle. Pick whichever fits the mods you're using.[3]

The quest text explains the idea: not every mod works like Mekanism, where machines simply share energy. Some of them need you to move it yourself, and pipes, cables and conduits can all carry energy from one machine to another.[3]

Tip: Each machine and each pipe has its own configuration for where energy goes in and out. For energy pipes, the quest says you'll need some sort of wrench on each end to change which side pushes and which side pulls.[3]

Unverified The sources don't show any other Ender IO quests or chapters, and don't say what the quest rewards. Check the in-game quest book for anything beyond this.

Which Ender IO config options matter?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.11 guide

There's nothing to tune here. The pack ships no config files for this mod, so every option runs at whatever the mod itself defaults to, and nothing has been changed for this pack.[1]

That also means you don't need to touch anything before you start building machines and conduits. Energy, item, fluid, redstone, Applied Energistics 2 ME, Refined Storage and Mekanism chemical conduits are all present in the version bundled here, as are the machines, armor, weapons, tools, enchantments and decorative blocks.[1]

Tip: This is the monolithic build of the mod, so Base, Machines, Conduits and the Inventory Panel all come in a single jar rather than as separate module mods you could add or remove individually.[1]
Watch out: The mod is being rewritten from the ground up for modern Minecraft, so if a feature you remember is missing, it's most likely not ported yet rather than something disabled by a config option in this pack.[1]

Unverified Any in-game config screen this mod may expose has not been checked against the pack, so treat anything you find there as mod defaults rather than pack-tuned values.

What changed in Ender IO between versions?

2 parts

All the Mons 0.6.0-beta ships with Ender IO 8.0.7-alpha. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]

Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for Ender IO, so what changed between individual pack releases is unverified.

Ender IO 8.0.7-alpha

This is the version you're playing. The mod's own changelog calls it a hotfix release that addresses more issues in 8.0 while the developers work on 8.1.[2][6]

  • Bug fix: a hang-on-load when using the attractor obelisk is fixed.[6]
  • Experiment: dark steel tools and armor. This is a very early start on the work, so expect breaking changes.[6]
  • Experiment: The Ender IO. This is early work in progress.[6]
  • Experiment: Farming Machine. The changelog describes it as nearly there.[6]
Watch out: Experiments are new features locked behind feature flags. They are work in progress and shouldn't be enabled on your primary world.[6]

For addon developers

This release has extensive API breaks, and the Ender IO team says they're not finished. They recommend waiting until the package reshuffle planned later in the v8 alpha phase before updating your addons. They're aiming for stability by the time the first 8.1 build is released.[6]
