What is Applied Botanics?
1 part
Applied Botanics is an Applied Energistics 2 addon, and this pack ships version 1.5.2 of it. It has been in the pack since 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[1]
The one piece of it the pack's quest book asks you to get is the 1k ME Mana Storage Cell, an ME storage cell for mana. That is the whole of the mod's footprint in the book.[2]
Where it sits in the quest book
The quest is a quest in "AE2 Addons". It lives in the "AE2 Addons" chapter, which is chapter 15 of 44 and belongs to the "Storage and Power" group. The chapter has 43 quests and opens with the checkmark quest "AE2 Addons" quest.[2]
The mana cell quest only asks you to hold the cell, and it comes after one of the chapter's untitled checkmark quests. The book doesn't say which one. No other quest in the chapter lists it as a prerequisite, so nothing is gated behind it.[2]
It sits with the other storage cell quests that follow an untitled quest, like a quest in "AE2 Addons" and a quest in "AE2 Addons". Each one asks for a cell from a different addon, so this chapter works as a tour of storage cells.[2]
Unverified The sources for this section don't cover any other Applied Botanics items, recipes or mechanics, so check in game before you plan a build around them.
How do you get started with Applied Botanics?
4 parts
Applied Botanics gives your ME network a way to store mana. In this pack's quest book, it sits in the "AE2 Addons" chapter (group "Storage and Power", chapter 15 of 44), and the a quest in "AE2 Addons" quest for the 1k ME Mana Storage Cell is the one that points at it. That quest follows an untitled quest in the chapter. The steps below follow the same order.[2][3]
Step 1: the cell housing
Start with the ME Mana Cell Housing. Every mana storage cell recipe in the pack uses it, including the portable ones, so you will keep coming back to it.[4]

Recipe id: appbot:mana_cell_housing
Step 2: your first mana cell
Next, make the 1k ME Mana Storage Cell. It is a shapeless craft that turns a normal ME storage component of the same size into a mana cell. This is also the item the quest book asks you to hand in.[2][4]
When you need more room, there are bigger sizes: 4k ME Mana Storage Cell, 16k ME Mana Storage Cell, 64k ME Mana Storage Cell and 256k ME Mana Storage Cell. Here is the recipe for the 4k cell.[4]
Step 3: the Fluix Mana Pool
The Fluix Mana Pool is the mod's block and is also a shapeless craft in the pack.[3][4]
Step 4: portable cells and the P2P tunnel
If you want mana storage you can carry, there are portable versions, from the 1k Portable Mana Cell up to the 256k Portable Mana Cell. Each size has its own recipe, and they all use the same housing.[3][4]
The Mana P2P Tunnel has no crafting recipe of its own in the dump. In this pack you get it by putting another P2P tunnel into a stonecutter, and there is a conversion for several tunnel types. Here is the one from the ME P2P Tunnel.[4]

How does Applied Botanics work?
5 parts
Applied Botanics connects Botania's mana to your AE2 network. In this pack it adds mana storage cells, a Fluix Mana Pool and a Mana P2P Tunnel. The sources for this pack cover how these are made, not their internal numbers, so this section sticks to what they show.[3][4]
Mana storage cells
Mana gets its own cell line: 1k ME Mana Storage Cell, 4k ME Mana Storage Cell, 16k ME Mana Storage Cell, 64k ME Mana Storage Cell and 256k ME Mana Storage Cell. Every size is built on the ME Mana Cell Housing, so craft that first.[3][4]

Recipe id: appbot:mana_cell_housing
Each size has its own shapeless recipe, and every one of them uses the housing. Here is the smallest as an example.[4]
Portable mana cells
If you want mana storage you can carry, there are portable versions: 1k Portable Mana Cell, 4k Portable Mana Cell, 16k Portable Mana Cell and 256k Portable Mana Cell. They are also shapeless recipes built on the same housing, and they add an ME Chest and an Energy Cell on top of the matching storage component.[3][4]

Fluix Mana Pool
The Fluix Mana Pool is the block that links a Botania mana pool to your ME network. It is a shapeless craft that takes an AE2 ME Interface and a Botania pool.[3][4]
Mana P2P Tunnel
The Mana P2P Tunnel can be made in a stonecutter from other P2P tunnels. Recipes from Crazy AE2 Addons convert the Energy, Fluid, Item, Light, ME, Redstone, Chemical and Pattern P2P tunnels into it, and so does an EU P2P tunnel. Here is one of those conversions.[4]

Endgame crossover
The pack's own Extended Crafting script for the long-tier creative cell from AE2 Omni Cells uses ME Mana Cell Housing as one of its many ingredients. That recipe is a huge shaped table with an endgame ingredient list, so it is not something you will touch early.[5]
How do you progress through Applied Botanics?
6 parts
Applied Botanics in this pack is a short, linear climb: one housing, then storage cells that step up in size. The quest book only covers the very first rung, so most of this page follows the in-pack recipes.[2][4]
Where the quest book puts it
The mod's only quest is a quest in "AE2 Addons", which asks you to obtain the 1k ME Mana Storage Cell. It lives in the "AE2 Addons" chapter, chapter 15 of 44 in the book, in the "Storage and Power" group. It follows one of the chapter's untitled checkmark quests. The cell's crafting recipe is shown further down.[2][4]
It sits next to other cell quests that follow the same untitled quest, such as a quest in "AE2 Addons" and a quest in "AE2 Addons". The quest list shows no quests for the bigger mana cells, but the recipe list has them, so after the 1k cell you work from the recipes below.[2][4]
Step 1: the cell housing
Every mana cell starts from the ME Mana Cell Housing. The recipe dump lists it as the mod's own recipe, with no pack script changing it.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | ||
Recipe id: appbot:mana_cell_housing
Step 2: the storage cell tiers
The tiers match the standard ME storage component sizes: 1k, 4k, 16k, 64k and 256k. Each cell is a shapeless craft that combines the housing with the matching size of ME Storage Component, so you pick your tier by the component you feed in.[4]
- 1k ME Mana Storage Cell, the quest tier.[2][4]
- 4k ME Mana Storage Cell[4]
- 16k ME Mana Storage Cell[4]
- 64k ME Mana Storage Cell[4]
- 256k ME Mana Storage Cell, the top tier in the recipe list.[4]
Portable versions
Each storage cell size also has a portable cell, for example the 1k Portable Mana Cell and the 256k Portable Mana Cell. These are shapeless crafts too, and they add an ME Chest and an Energy Cell on top of the component and housing. The 4k, 16k and 64k portable cells follow the same pattern.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: appbot:portable_mana_storage_cell_256k
Side steps: pool and tunnel
The Fluix Mana Pool is a separate shapeless recipe that uses an ME Interface and a Fabulous Mana Pool.[4]
For the Mana P2P Tunnel, the sources show stonecutting recipes from other P2P tunnels. These cover the ME, Item, Fluid, Energy, Light, Redstone, Chemical, EU and Pattern tunnels. The AE2 Addons chapter already asks for the Pattern P2P Tunnel in a quest in "AE2 Addons", so that one is a handy starting point. Here is the Pattern conversion:[2][4]
Stonecutting
Recipe id: crazyae2addons:mae2_pattern_p2p_tunnel_to_appbot_mana_p2p_tunnel
Endgame use of the housing
The pack's own script for the long-tier creative storage cell uses the ME Mana Cell Housing as one ingredient in an Extended Crafting shaped table recipe. That recipe also needs many other cell housings and rare materials. So the housing you make at the start is still on the list of things you need at the end of the pack.[5]
How does Applied Botanics work with other mods?
7 parts
Applied Botanics links Applied Energistics 2 and Botania, so most of its connections to other mods show up directly in its recipes. Other AE2 add-ons also hook into it, and the pack adds one endgame recipe that uses it. Here is how it all fits together.[4][5]
Botania and AE2 in the cell housing
The ME Mana Cell Housing is the base of every mana cell, and its shaped crafting recipe mixes materials from AE2 and from Botania.[4]

Recipe id: appbot:mana_cell_housing
Mana cells and AE2 storage components
Each mana cell is a shapeless recipe that pairs the mana housing with an AE2 storage component of the matching size. The tiers are 1k, 4k, 16k, 64k and 256k, for example 1k ME Storage Component for 1k ME Mana Storage Cell.[4]
The 1k tier; the other tiers follow the same pattern with their own component.
The portable versions, such as 1k Portable Mana Cell, add an ME Chest and an Energy Cell to the same pairing.[4]
The portable 1k cell, built around AE2 parts.
Fluix Mana Pool
The Fluix Mana Pool is a shapeless recipe that combines an AE2 ME Interface with one of Botania's pools, the Fabulous Mana Pool.[4]
MEGA Cells
The MEGA Mana Cell Housing is made from the regular mana housing in a Botania Terra Plate recipe. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own version.[4]
Terra Plate (botania)

Mana P2P Tunnel conversions
The Mana P2P Tunnel can be converted both ways in a stonecutter. These recipes come from the crazyae2addons namespace. They cover the AE2 Energy, Fluid, Item, Light, ME and Redstone P2P tunnels, the Chemical P2P Tunnel and the Pattern P2P Tunnel. So you can switch a tunnel's type without crafting a new one from scratch.[4]

The LONG-tier Creative Storage Cell
The pack adds an Extended Crafting shaped table recipe for the LONG-tier Creative Storage Cell. It draws on storage parts from many mods, and both the ME Mana Cell Housing and the MEGA Mana Cell Housing are part of it. That puts the mana housings in the pack's endgame storage route.[4][5]

In the quest book
Mana cells appear in the "AE2 Addons" chapter, in the "Storage and Power" group (chapter 15 of 44 in the book). The quest a quest in "AE2 Addons" asks for the 1k ME Mana Storage Cell and comes after an untitled checkmark quest in that chapter. Other cell quests follow the same checkmark, including a quest in "AE2 Addons" for chemical cells, a quest in "AE2 Addons" for FE cells, a quest in "AE2 Addons" for the souls housing, a quest in "AE2 Addons" for mob cells and a quest in "AE2 Addons" for the EMC cell.[2]
Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Applied Botanics?
2 parts
Applied Botanics shows up in one place in the quest book: the "AE2 Addons" chapter, which sits in the "Storage and Power" group and is chapter 15 of 44. This chapter is a shared page for many AE2 add-on mods, with 43 quests in total, so the Applied Botanics part is small.[2]
The Applied Botanics quest
The only quest for this mod is a quest in "AE2 Addons". Its single task is to get the 1k ME Mana Storage Cell. It has no other tasks.[2]
Where it sits in the chapter
- The chapter opens with the intro quest "AE2 Addons" quest, which is a simple checkmark task.[2]
- Several untitled checkmark quests come after that intro quest. They act as branch points for the rest of the chapter.[2]
- The mana cell quest comes after one of those untitled quests. The book does not give that quest a title, so I can't name which one it is.[2]
Next to the mana cell quest are other storage cell quests that also come after an untitled quest, such as a quest in "AE2 Addons", a quest in "AE2 Addons", a quest in "AE2 Addons", a quest in "AE2 Addons" and a quest in "AE2 Addons". a quest in "AE2 Addons" is also in that group. These belong to other mods, but they sit in the same part of the chapter.[2]
Nothing in the chapter comes after the mana cell quest, so it is a dead end that doesn't gate anything else.[2]
What changed in Applied Botanics between versions?
Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Applied Botanics 1.5.2 (the file is applied-botanics-forge-1.5.2.jar). The mod has been in the pack since Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]
The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there are no pack-specific changes to report. The mod's own 1.5.1 changelog is published only as a link to its release page on GitHub, and its contents aren't reproduced here.[6]
Unverified What changed between Applied Botanics 1.5.1 and 1.5.2, and which changes the pack made to the mod, can't be confirmed from the available changelogs.
