What is Applied Flux?
1 part
Applied Flux lets your ME network store energy. It adds new cells that hold FE, and a Flux Accessor that lets you interact with the energy stored in the network. The largest cell can store over 200 trillion FE.[1]
You can also see how much energy is stored right from the terminal, and charge or discharge items there directly.[1]
This pack includes version 1.20-1.3.7-forge of the mod.[2]
Where the quest book puts it
The main entry is in the "AE2 Addons" chapter, which is chapter 15 of 44 in the book and sits in the group "Storage and Power". The quest a quest in "AE2 Addons" asks you to get the 1k ME FE Storage Cell. The book gives it no title of its own.[1][3]
That quest comes after an untitled checkmark quest in the chapter. It sits next to other storage cell quests that follow the same kind of quest, such as a quest in "AE2 Addons" and a quest in "AE2 Addons". Among the quests shown for this chapter, none lists the FE cell quest as a prerequisite, so nothing is gated behind it.[3]
The mod shows up a second time in the "EndGame" chapter, which is chapter 7 of 44 in the group "Storyline". There, a quest in "EndGame" asks for the Creative ME FE Cell and comes after "The Beginning of the End" quest. It is one of several creative-item quests that open up at that point, together with a quest in "EndGame", a quest in "EndGame", a quest in "EndGame", a quest in "EndGame" and a quest in "EndGame".[4]
How do you get started with Applied Flux?
6 parts
Applied Flux adds cells that store energy (FE) in your ME network, plus the Flux Accessor to move that energy in and out. Here is the order I'd build things in, from the first resin to your first upgraded cell.[1]
Step 1: Insulating Resin
Start with Insulating Resin. The cell housing and the shaped cell recipes all ask for an insulating resin ingot, so you'll want a stack early.[5]

You can also turn it into Harden Insulating Resin by smelting or blasting. The pack adds an EnderIO alloy smelting route for that too.[5]
Step 2: Redstone Crystal
Next is Redstone Crystal. It goes straight into your first energy component, and later you'll charge it for the Energy Processor. This is the mod's transform recipe.[5]

The pack also changed the reaction recipe for the crystal, so this is the version you'll see in this pack.[5]
Step 3: Housing, component and your first cell
The simplest way to a cell is a component plus a housing. Make an ME FE Cell Housing first.[5]

Combine the two and you have a 1k ME FE Storage Cell.[5]
The quest book tracks this one: a quest in "AE2 Addons" sits in the "AE2 Addons" chapter (group "Storage and Power", chapter 15 of 44), after an untitled quest.[3]
Step 4: The Energy Processor
The recipe for the 16k ME Energy Storage Component needs an Energy Processor. The inscriber route starts with Charged Redstone, made by charging a Redstone Crystal.[5]
You also need an Inscriber Energy Press. The pack changed this recipe so the charger makes it from an iron storage block.[5]

Press the Charged Redstone into a Printed Energy Circuit, then inscribe the processor itself.[5]
Step 5: Stepping up
With a processor in hand you can upgrade. The 16k component builds on the 4k one, and the cell is assembled just like the 1k.[5]

Flux Accessor settings in this pack
The Flux Accessor pulls energy from the network, and you need an external cable to push energy out of it. Check the pack's settings before you plan around it: enable is false, so the accessor can't charge the ME network with stored FE. enable_FE_pull is also false, so the ME Import Bus can't pull FE.[6][7]
The pack leaves io_limit at 0, which means the accessor has no I/O limit. amount is set to 4,194,304 FE stored per byte.[7]
How does Applied Flux work?
6 parts
Applied Flux lets your ME network hold and move energy (FE) the same way it holds items. It adds cells that store FE in the network, and a Flux Accessor that lets you interact with that stored energy. You can also see how much energy is stored, and charge or discharge items, straight from the terminal.[1]
Storing FE: cores, housings and cells
FE cells run from 1k up to 256M, and every tier also has a Portable FE Cell version. There is a Creative ME FE Cell too, plus a MEGA FE Cell Housing. The mod's own description says the largest cell can store over 200 trillion FE.[1][6]
A cell is built from two parts: an energy storage component for the tier you want, and an ME FE Cell Housing. The components chain upwards. The 16k ME Energy Storage Component builds on the 4k ME Energy Storage Component, and the 16M ME Energy Storage Component builds on the 4M ME Energy Storage Component. Both also need an Energy Processor.[5][6]

Getting energy in and out
The Flux Accessor is the block for working with the network's energy. Its tooltip says it pulls energy from the network, and that you need an external cable to push energy. It also exists as a cable part.[6]
The Induction Card is an upgrade card. Its tooltip says it allows AE devices to accept or send energy, and that it allows a Portable FE Cell to charge the player's inventory.[6]
A Basic Card combined with a Flux Accessor.
What the pack's config sets
The mod's settings live in enable and the other keys of the same file. These are the values this pack ships:[7]
- amount is 4,194,304 (it must be above 1). It is the FE stored per byte.[7]
- enable is false. This is the option that allows the Flux Accessor to charge the ME network with stored FE.[7]
- enable_FE_pull is false. This is the option that allows the ME Import Bus to pull FE.[7]
- enable_gteu is true, so GTCEu EU support is on.[7]
- io_limit is 0, which means the Flux Accessor has no I/O limit. The accepted range is 0 to 2,147,483,647.[7]
Making the Energy Processor
The Energy Processor is the key part for the higher cores, and the pack gives you several routes to it. It starts with Redstone Crystal, which comes from a reaction chamber recipe the pack changed. You can turn that into Charged Redstone in a charger, or through another reaction chamber recipe the pack changed.[5]
Redstone Crystal in the pack's changed reaction chamber recipe.
Charging a Redstone Crystal gives Charged Redstone.
Charged Redstone is pressed into a Printed Energy Circuit in an inscriber, using the Inscriber Energy Press. The pack changed the press recipe, which now starts from an iron storage block in a charger.[5]

The finished processor is then made in an inscriber, as the mod intends.[5]

The pack also adds a bulk reaction chamber route that turns Printed Energy Circuits straight into Energy Processors. It costs 200,000 energy and water on top of the items. The same script adds a reaction chamber route for the Printed Energy Circuit itself.[5][8]

Resins
The pack adds an Ender IO alloy smelting recipe that turns Insulating Resin into Harden Insulating Resin. Sky Insulating Resin can then be made in a pack-added reaction chamber recipe, or by a transform recipe the pack changed, which gives 2 per craft.[5]
Endgame use
Some of the pack's endgame crafting table recipes, such as the Creative Capacitor and the Integrated Dynamics creative energy battery, ask for a 256k Portable FE Cell that carries a stored power value of 274,877,906,944.[9][10]
How do you progress through Applied Flux?
6 parts
Applied Flux in this pack is a ladder of ME FE Storage Cells with two sets of tiers: the standard cells from 1k to 256k, then the MEGA cells from 1M to 256M. Every cell is built from an ME Energy Storage Component of the same size, and each component builds on the one below it, so you work up the ladder in order.[5]
Where the quest book puts it
The Applied Flux quest in the AE2 Addons chapter is a quest in "AE2 Addons", which asks you to obtain the 1k ME FE Storage Cell. That chapter is in the Storage and Power group (chapter 15 of 44 in the book), and this quest comes after one of the chapter's untitled checkmark quests.[3][5]
The other Applied Flux quest in the chapters covered here is a quest in "EndGame", which asks you to obtain the Creative ME FE Cell. It sits in the EndGame chapter (Storyline group, chapter 7 of 44), after "The Beginning of the End" quest. It is also one of the quests that a quest in "EndGame" comes after.[4][5]
Getting the basics: crystals and processors
Everything starts with the Redstone Crystal. The mod's own transform recipe is still in the pack, and the pack has also changed the Advanced AE reaction chamber recipe for the crystal. Here is the pack's reaction chamber version.[5]
This reaction chamber recipe is changed by the pack.
The Energy Processor is the key part for the middle tiers: the 4k, 16k, 64k and 256k components all use it, and so do the pack's 4M and 16M components. The simple route is the inscriber, using a Printed Energy Circuit.[5]
The pack changed the Advanced AE reaction chamber recipe for the processor, and it added a second, bulk reaction chamber recipe too. The printed circuit itself comes from Charged Redstone and the Inscriber Energy Press in an inscriber. The pack added a reaction chamber route for the printed circuit as well.[5]

MEGA tiers: 1M to 256M
This is where the pack steps in. These MEGA recipes are changed by the pack:[5]
- The MEGA FE Cell Housing recipe.[5]
- The 4M and 16M component recipes (4M ME Energy Storage Component and 16M ME Energy Storage Component).[5]
- The assemble recipes for the 1M, 4M, 16M, 64M and 256M cells.[5]

How does Applied Flux work with other mods?
5 parts
Applied Flux leans on the wider AE2 addon ecosystem in this pack, and then shows up again near the end of the game as an ingredient in creative-tier crafts. Here is where the crossovers happen.[5]
Energy Processor and the AE2 addons
The Energy Processor goes into the higher energy storage components, and you can make it with plain AE2 parts. The inscriber route combines Printed Silicon with Printed Energy Circuit.[5]
The Advanced AE reaction recipe for the processor is changed by the pack. The pack also adds a second, bulk reaction recipe that uses Block of Silicon.[5]

Crystals and resins
Redstone Crystal can be made by an AE2 transform recipe, and Advanced AE has a reaction recipe for it that the pack changed. Sky Insulating Resin is similar: the pack changed its transform recipe and added an Advanced AE reaction recipe.[5]

Other mods that use Applied Flux parts
- ExtendedAE Plus: the pack changed the recipes for Basic Core and Energy Storage Core. They take Applied Flux components such as 16k ME Energy Storage Component, 64k ME Energy Storage Component and 256M ME Energy Storage Component.[5]
- Neo ECO AE: the ECO FE Storage Matrix Housing uses Harden Insulating Resin. The ECO - LE4 FE Storage Matrix and ECO - LE9 FE Storage Matrix are made at the integrated working station from the 16M and 256M energy storage components plus Energy Processors.[5]
- Universal Bulk Cell: the Universal Bulk Storage Cell recipe, changed by the pack, takes the 256M ME FE Storage Cell alongside cells from other storage mods.[5]

Endgame creative crafts
The pack adds an Extended Crafting table recipe for the Creative ME FE Cell, shown below. It is a crossover with Avaritia, Mekanism Extras and Powah, for example through the Infinity Ingot, the Infinite Induction Cell and the Energy Cable (Nitro).[5][11]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)
Recipe id: appflux:fe_creative_cell
Applied Flux parts also feed other creative items. The LONG-tier Creative Storage Cell takes the 256M ME Energy Storage Component and the ME FE Cell Housing. The Creative ME Item Cell takes the Creative ME FE Cell.[5]
The 256k Portable FE Cell is a recurring ingredient in the pack's creative recipes. You will find it in the recipes for the Creative Energy Cube, the Iron Jetpacks creative capacitor and jetpack, the Powah creative energy cell, and the Integrated Dynamics creative energy battery.[5][9][12]
In the quest book
Applied Flux adds cells that store energy (FE) in the ME network. In the quest book, the quest a quest in "AE2 Addons" asks you to get the 1k ME FE Storage Cell. It sits in the "AE2 Addons" chapter, in the "Storage and Power" group, and comes after an untitled quest. Other addon storage cell quests in the same chapter include a quest in "AE2 Addons", a quest in "AE2 Addons" and a quest in "AE2 Addons".[1][3]
Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Applied Flux?
2 parts
Applied Flux shows up in two quest chapters in this pack. One is a normal storage step in the AE2 addons chapter. The other is a creative-tier reward near the very end of the EndGame chapter.[3][4]
AE2 Addons: the 1k cell
The "AE2 Addons" chapter sits in the "Storage and Power" group. It is chapter 15 of 44 in the book and has 43 quests. It opens with a checkmark quest called "AE2 Addons" quest, and the rest of the chapter hangs off that.[3]
Applied Flux's quest here is a quest in "AE2 Addons". Its task is to obtain a single 1k ME FE Storage Cell. It comes after one of the chapter's untitled quests, so it is a branch of the chapter rather than something you unlock from the Extended AE part.[3]
The same untitled quest also leads to other cell and storage quests, such as a quest in "AE2 Addons", a quest in "AE2 Addons", a quest in "AE2 Addons" and a quest in "AE2 Addons". They sit side by side with the FE cell in the book.[3]
EndGame: the Creative ME FE Cell
The "EndGame" chapter is in the "Storyline" group. It is chapter 7 of 44 in the book and has 70 quests. Applied Flux's quest here is a quest in "EndGame", and its task is to obtain the Creative ME FE Cell.[4]
It unlocks after "The Beginning of the End" quest, which asks for the Avaritia infinity ingot. That quest comes after "One Giant Leap" quest, which in turn comes after "One Small Step" quest. So the creative FE cell is part of the reward wave once you pass that milestone.[4]
It is one of many creative items unlocked at the same point, along with a quest in "EndGame", a quest in "EndGame" and a quest in "EndGame".[4]
The Creative FE Cell quest also feeds the final quest of the chapter, a quest in "EndGame", the Creative ME Item Cell. That quest lists a long set of prerequisites, and the Creative ME FE Cell is one of them.[4]
Which Applied Flux config options matter?
Applied Flux is configured in this pack through config/appflux-common.toml. Two of its options are switched off, and those decide how you can move energy around, so check them before you plan a build.[7]
- enable is false. This option allows the Flux Accessor to charge the ME network with stored FE, so in this pack that behaviour is turned off.[7]
- enable_FE_pull is false. This option allows the ME Import Bus to pull FE, so in this pack it can't.[7]
- enable_gteu is true. This enables GTCEu-EU support, so it is active here.[7]
- io_limit is 0. This is the I/O limit of the Flux Accessor, and 0 means no limitation. The allowed range is 0 to 2,147,483,647.[7]
- amount is 4,194,304. This is the FE stored per byte, and the value has to be greater than 1.[7]
With io_limit at 0, this config puts no cap on the Flux Accessor's I/O. If you ever want a cap, you can set a value up to 2,147,483,647 in the same file.[7]
The mod itself describes its cells as storing energy (FE) in the ME network, and the amount option is the setting for how much FE each byte holds.[1][7]
What changed in Applied Flux between versions?
Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Applied Flux 1.20-1.3.7-forge. It was first included in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so it has been in the pack for a good while.[2]
The mod's own changelog for this build, 1.20-1.3.7-forge, has a single line: it is the first release in 1.20.1. That is all it tells us, so there are no listed fixes, features or balance changes to point you to.[13]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Applied Flux were available, so any changes to it between Project Infinity releases are unverified.
