Powah! is a mod in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0, where it is version 6.2.10. A tech mod that adds various ways to generate, store and transmit Energy. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Powah!?

2 parts

Powah! is a tech mod all about energy. It gives you lots of ways to generate, store and transmit power, from simple fuel-burning generators all the way up to reactor multiblocks. This pack runs version 6.2.10, and on 1.21 the mod is NeoForge-only.[1][2]

If you want a flexible power setup that starts simple and grows with your base, this is your mod. Most of its machines come in a ladder of tiers from Starter through Basic, Hardened, Blazing, Niotic and Spirited up to Nitro. Higher tiers generally hold more energy and move it faster.[1][3][4][5]

What you get

  • Generators: Furnators burn solid furnace fuel like coal and wood, and Magmators such as Magmator (Starter) run on hot fluids like lava. There are also Solar Panels, Thermo Generators like Thermo Generator (Starter), and the Reactor multiblock, which uses Uraninite as its main fuel.[1][3][4][6]
  • Storage and transfer: Energy Cables and Energy Cells such as Energy Cell (Starter), plus the upgradable Ender Network built from pieces like Ender Cell (Starter) and Ender Gate (Starter).[1][5]
  • Wireless charging: a Player Transmitter (Starter) linked with a Binding Card charges items in your inventory, armor slots and off-hand anywhere in the same dimension. A dimensional binding card extends this across dimensions.[5][7]
  • Energizing: the Energizing Orb uses nearby Energizing Rods, placed on cables or other FE blocks, to energize items. More rods and higher-tier rods make it faster.[1][8]
  • Utility blocks: the Energy Hopper charges items inside an adjacent inventory, and the Energy Discharger drains power out of charged items so you can reuse it.[9][10]

Where it fits in this pack

Powah! gets its own spot in the Power quest chapter. There you'll build a Magmator in a quest in "Power" and a Thermo Generator in a quest in "Power". You'll also make an Energy Cell and a Battery in "Energy Cells" quest, a Player Transmitter with a Binding Card in a quest in "Power", Ender Cells and Ender Gates in a quest in "Power" and "Ender Gates" quest, and a Reactor in a quest in "Power".[5]

It also feeds into the World Engine chapters. Early on, "Infusing Metals" quest asks for a Dielectric Casing. Much later, "Ender Technology" quest and "Auto-Build The Ender Power Upgrade" quest each need a Ender Cell (Nitro), so it pays to push your Powah! setup all the way to the top tier.[11][12]

How do you get started with Powah!?

4 parts

Powah! is a tech mod for generating, storing and moving energy. It covers generators like Furnators, Magmators, Solar Panels, Thermo Generators and Reactor multiblocks, plus Energy Cables, Energy Cells, the Ender Network and Player Transmitters. Here's a practical order for your first few items.[1]

Start with a Dielectric Casing

Make a Dielectric Casing first. It's one of the first Powah! items the pack asks for: quest "Infusing Metals" quest in the first World Engine chapter wants one alongside items from other mods. It also goes into the Energy Cell recipes and the Magmator upgrade recipes, so you'll need plenty of them. The pack has changed this recipe, so check the version below rather than an old tutorial.[12][13]

Get a generator running

The Magmator (Starter) makes FE from hot fluids like lava. Higher tiers generate more FE/t and burn fuel faster, but you get the same energy per fuel tick. Quest a quest in "Power" accepts a Magmator of any tier.[4][5]

When you upgrade to Magmator (Basic), note that the pack has changed that recipe too.[13]

Another option is the Thermo Generator (Starter). It generates energy when placed on top of a hot block or fluid like lava, and it needs a coolant fluid like water to run. Quest a quest in "Power" accepts any tier. If you don't have lava yet, the Furnator burns solid furnace fuel like coal and wood.[3][5][14]

Store power and carry it with you

Next, quest "Energy Cells" quest asks for an Energy Cell and a Battery, any tier of each. The pack has changed the recipe for the Energy Cell (Starter), so use the one shown here.[5][13]

A Battery (Starter) charges your items while it's in your inventory. Later you can shift-click a Battery into an Ender Cell's GUI to upgrade the capacity of an Ender Network channel. Any energy stored in the Battery is added to the channel as well.[15]

Go wireless

An Ender Cell (Starter) stores energy on a channel of your own Ender Network. You can reach that energy from anywhere in the world, as long as the Ender Cell you use has an active channel with a valid capacity. The pack has changed the Starter Ender Cell recipe, and quest a quest in "Power" accepts any tier.[5][13][16]

A Player Transmitter charges items in a linked player's inventory, including armor slots and the off-hand, anywhere in the same dimension. To craft one you need a Player Aerial Pearl, which you get by using an Aerial Pearl on a Zombie or Husk. To link it, right-click a Binding Card to bind it to yourself, then put the card in the transmitter. Quest a quest in "Power" asks for both the transmitter and the card.[5][7][17][18]

Tip: Want charging across dimensions? Use a Binding Card on an Enderman or Endermite to get a Dimensional Binding Card, then bind it and place it in the transmitter the same way.[7][19][20]

Unverified The sources don't show the dependencies between the quests in the power chapter, so this order is a suggestion, not a path the quest book enforces. The recipes for the Starter Magmator and Starter Thermo Generator weren't in the sources, so check them in-game.

How does Powah! work?

7 parts

Powah! is all about Forge Energy (FE). You generate it, store it, move it around, and then spend it on charging items or energizing materials. Most of its blocks come in tiers: Starter, Basic, Hardened, Blazing, Niotic, Spirited and Nitro. Each step up raises capacity and transfer speed in this pack's config.[1][21]

Generators

The Furnator burns solid furnace fuel like coal or wood. Higher tiers generate more FE/t and have higher output. They also burn fuel faster, but the energy you get per fuel tick stays the same. In this pack, general.energy_per_fuel_tick is set to 30.[3][21]

The Magmator follows the same tier logic, but it runs on high-temperature fluids like lava instead of solid fuel.[4]

Solar Panels generate energy in sunlight, and higher tiers produce more FE/t. Any block above the panel that stops light also stops its production. Applying a Lens Of Ender to a panel lets it see through blocks. In this pack, general.lens_of_ender is enabled, so you get the lens by using a Photoelectric Pane on an Enderman or Endermite.[19][21][22][23]

The Thermo Generator produces energy when you place it on top of a high-temperature block or fluid like lava. It also needs a coolant fluid like water to run.[14]

The Reactor multiblock

The Reactor is a multiblock FE generator that uses Uraninite as its main fuel. To build it, hold 36 Reactor blocks in your hand and place them in a 3x4 replaceable area. The reactor then finishes building itself automatically.[6]

The reactor has a generation mode that stops it when its buffer is full and starts it again when it drops below 70% energy. Dry Ice is mainly used to cool reactors, and you can make it by energizing two pieces of blue ice.[19][24]

Unverified The in-game guide describes Uraninite Ore and Dry Ice generating underground. The sources don't confirm whether that worldgen exists in this pack's world, so check JEI or the quest book for how to get them here. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Moving power: cables and the Wrench

Energy Cables carry power between machines. To change a cable's transfer mode, right-click it with the Wrench in Config Mode. The Wrench also has a Link Mode for linking blocks like the Energizing Orb and rods, and a Rotate Mode for turning blocks horizontally.[25][26]

This pack's config sets cable transfer rates to 500 for Starter, 2,000 for Basic, 5,000 for Hardened, 20,000 for Blazing, 50,000 for Niotic, 200,000 for Spirited and 1,000,000 for Nitro.[21]

Higher cable tiers can be crafted by upgrading the previous tier's cable. Note that the pack changed one of the two recipes for the Energy Cable (Basic), so use the recipes shown here rather than an older guide.[13]

Changed by the pack

Storing energy: Energy Cells and Batteries

Energy Cells are blocks that store FE. Batteries charge items while they sit in your inventory. In this pack, both use the same capacity and transfer rate for each tier. There is also a Creative Energy Cell.[15][21][27]

  • Starter: 1,000,000 capacity, 1,000 transfer rate.[21]
  • Basic: 4,000,000 capacity, 4,000 transfer rate.[21]
  • Hardened: 10,000,000 capacity, 10,000 transfer rate.[21]
  • Blazing: 40,000,000 capacity, 40,000 transfer rate.[21]
  • Niotic: 100,000,000 capacity, 100,000 transfer rate.[21]
  • Spirited: 400,000,000 capacity, 400,000 transfer rate.[21]
  • Nitro: 2,000,000,000 capacity, 2,000,000 transfer rate.[21]
Watch out: The Battery (Basic) recipe is changed by this pack, so trust the recipe shown here over older videos.[13]

Changed by the pack

The Ender Network

An Ender Cell stores FE in a specific channel of its owner's Ender Network. You can reach that energy from anywhere in the world, as long as the Ender Cell you use has an active channel with a valid capacity.[16]

Tip: To give a channel capacity, shift-click a Battery or an Energy Cell into the Ender Cell GUI. Any energy already stored in it is added to the channel too.[15][27]

Ender Gates move energy between the block next to them and the Ender Network. Unlike Ender Cells, you can't upgrade the network from a gate.[28]

In this pack, both Ender Cells and Ender Gates have a channel setting of 1 for Starter, 2 for Basic, 3 for Hardened, 5 for Blazing, 7 for Niotic, 9 for Spirited and 12 for Nitro. Ender Cell transfer rates go from 1,000 at Starter to 2,000,000 at Nitro. Ender Gate rates go from 500 at Starter to 1,000,000 at Nitro.[21]

Energizing

The Energizing Orb turns items into new materials. It needs at least one Energizing Rod within a 9x9 range. The orb itself doesn't need power, but the rods must sit on cables or another FE block. More rods and higher rod tiers make energizing faster. Use the Wrench's Link Mode to link the orb and its rods.[8][26]

In this pack, Energizing Rod capacities go from 10,000 at Starter to 20,000,000 at Nitro. Their transfer rates are 100, 400, 1,000, 4,000, 10,000, 40,000 and 200,000 from Starter to Nitro. general.energizing_energy_ratio is set to 1.[21]

Energizing makes some fun extras. An energized snowball becomes a Charged Snowball, which spawns a lightning bolt where it lands or on the mob it hits. Energizing two pieces of blue ice gives you Dry Ice.[24][29]

Charging and draining items

The Energy Hopper charges chargeable items inside an adjacent inventory, such as a chest. In this pack, its charging rates go from 500 at Starter to 1,000,000 at Nitro. Its capacities go from 1,000,000 to 2,000,000,000.[10][21]

The Energy Discharger does the opposite. It drains FE out of charged items into an internal buffer, and you can pull that energy back out with cables. In this pack, its capacities and transfer rates match the Energy Cell tiers, from 1,000,000 and 1,000 at Starter up to 2,000,000,000 and 2,000,000 at Nitro.[9][21]

The Player Transmitter charges items wirelessly across a linked player's whole inventory, including armor slots and the off-hand. With a Binding Card it works anywhere in the same dimension. With a Dimensional Binding Card it works across dimensions. Right-click the card to bind it to yourself before you put it in the transmitter.[7][17][20]

In this pack, you get a Dimensional Binding Card by using a Binding Card on an Enderman or Endermite. The Player Aerial Pearl is needed to craft the Player Transmitter, and you get it by using an Aerial Pearl on a Zombie or Husk. Both general.dimensional_binding_card and general.player_aerial_pearl are enabled.[18][19][21]

How do you progress through Powah!?

3 parts

Powah! gear in this pack comes in a ladder of tiers, always in the same order: Starter, Basic, Hardened, Blazing, Niotic, Spirited and Nitro. Generators, storage, ender networking and wireless charging all follow this ladder, and the pack's power quests list the tiers in that same order.[5][13]

How the tier ladder works

Every upgrade recipe takes the previous tier's block as an ingredient. A Hardened machine is crafted from your Basic one, a Blazing one from your Hardened one, and so on up to Nitro. Your early builds are never wasted because they become the base for the next step. Batteries, Energy Cells, Magmators, Player Transmitters and Reactors all work this way.[13]

Each tier has its own key components. Once you know which one gates the tier you want, you can plan ahead:[13]

  1. Starter and Basic are the entry tiers. In this pack several of their recipes use iron together with Dielectric Casing and the basic capacitors, Basic Capacitor (Tiny), Basic Capacitor and Basic Capacitor (Large).[13]
  2. Hardened is where Hardened Capacitor and Energized Steel come in.[13]
  3. Blazing is built around Blazing Capacitor and Blazing Crystal.[13]
  4. Niotic is built around Niotic Capacitor and Niotic Crystal.[13]
  5. Spirited is built around Spirited Capacitor and Spirited Crystal.[13]
  6. Nitro, the top tier, is built around Nitro Capacitor and Nitro Crystal.[13]
Watch out: This pack changes several early recipes: Dielectric Casing, the Starter and Basic Energy Cells, the Starter and Basic Ender Cells, the Basic Battery and the Basic Magmator. If you have seen these crafted differently in other videos or packs, trust the recipes shown here and in JEI over your memory.[13]

Where the quests come in

The power chapter has a set of Powah! quests, and each one accepts any tier of the item it asks for. You can complete them with Starter gear and upgrade whenever you like.[5]

Powah! also shows up in the World Engine chapters. In the first tier, "Infusing Metals" quest asks for a Dielectric Casing, alongside a generator and a Metallurgic Infuser from other mods.[12]

The World Engine tier 3 chapter is where you need the top tier. Both "Ender Technology" quest and "Auto-Build The Ender Power Upgrade" quest ask specifically for a Ender Cell (Nitro), and the second quest comes after the first.[11]

Tip: Nitro Ender Cells are a hard requirement for the late World Engine quests, so plan your crystal production with Nitro in mind. A Nitro Ender Cell needs a Nitro Crystal and an Ender Core.[11][13]

Generators as you climb

The Magmator generates FE from hot fluids like lava. Higher tiers generate more FE/t and have a higher energy output. They also burn fuel faster, but each fuel tick still gives the same amount of energy. That makes upgrading a straight speed boost.[4]

Changed by this pack.

The Reactor is the big one. It is a multiblock generator that runs on Uraninite. To build it, hold 36 Reactor blocks and place them in a 3X4 area; the reactor then finishes building itself. Every Reactor upgrade needs Uraninite along with the previous tier's Reactor.[6][13]

For getting power to yourself, the Player Transmitter charges items in a linked player's inventory, including armor slots and the off-hand. With a normal binding card it works anywhere in the same dimension, and with a dimensional binding card it works across dimensions.[7]

Unverified The exact capacity, generation and transfer numbers for each tier in this pack could not be confirmed, so check the in-game guide or the item tooltips for them.

How does Powah! work with other mods?

6 parts

Powah! doesn't sit on its own island in this pack. The pack adds or changes quite a few recipes that pull Powah items into other mods' progression, and the reverse is true too: other mods' materials feed into Powah crafting. Here's where the two sides meet.[13]

Energizing with pack materials

The pack adds its own Energizing recipes. One makes Block Of Blazing Crystal and another makes Block Of Uraninite, both using materials from outside Powah. Check the recipes below to see exactly what goes in.[13]

As a quick refresher, the Energizing Orb needs at least one Energizing Rod in range to work. The orb itself doesn't use energy, but the rods have to sit on cables or on a Forge Energy block. More rods and higher-tier rods mean faster energizing.[8]

Quests that need Powah

The World Engine tier 1 chapter has a quest, "Infusing Metals" quest, that asks for Dielectric Casing. It also asks for a Mekanism Metallurgic Infuser and a generator from Mekanism Generators, Just Dire Things or RFTools Power.[12]

Further along, the World Engine tier 3 chapter has two quests, "Ender Technology" quest and "Auto-Build The Ender Power Upgrade" quest, that both ask for an Ender Cell (Nitro). That means you'll need to push Powah all the way to its Nitro tier.[11]

Tip: Keep a stack of Dielectric Casing on hand. You'll need it for an early World Engine quest and for a lot of World Engine recipes.[12][13]

Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Powah!?

2 parts

Powah! shows up in three quest chapters in this pack: the power chapter, which is dedicated to the mod's machines, plus one quest each in the world engine tier 1 and world engine tier 3 chapters. All of these quests are untitled, so they're listed below by what they ask you to hand in.[5][11][12]

The power chapter

This chapter is where most of your Powah! progress gets tracked. It's forgiving: almost every task accepts the item in any tier, from Starter all the way up to Nitro. That means an early Starter version is enough to tick it off.[5]

Unverified The quest data doesn't show prerequisites between the power chapter quests, so the order above is not confirmed as the order the chapter unlocks them in.

World engine chapters

In the world engine tier 1 chapter, "Infusing Metals" quest mixes Powah! in with other mods. It asks for a Dielectric Casing and a Metallurgic Infuser. It also needs one generator, which can be a Heat Generator, a Simple Coal Generator or a Coal Generator. It unlocks after two earlier quests in that chapter.[12]

In the world engine tier 3 chapter, the tier matters. Both "Ender Technology" quest and "Auto-Build The Ender Power Upgrade" quest ask specifically for a Ender Cell (Nitro), the top tier. Complete "Ender Technology" quest first, because "Auto-Build The Ender Power Upgrade" quest only unlocks after it and one other quest.[11]

Tip: The power chapter accepts any tier of Ender Cell, but the world engine tier 3 quests only take the Nitro version. Plan on working your way up to Nitro eventually.[5][11]

Which Powah! config options matter?

3 parts

Powah! is all about generating, storing and moving energy, so most of its config is numbers: how much each machine holds, how fast it generates and how fast it pushes power around. Nearly every device comes in seven tiers. From weakest to strongest they are starter, basic, hardened, blazing, niotic, spirited and nitro. Below are the values this pack sets that you'll feel most while playing.[1][21]

General options

Generators

  • Reactor generation rates run from 125 at starter tier to 250,000 at nitro, and a nitro Reactor holds 500,000,000 energy.[21]
  • Furnator generation rates go from 20 at starter tier up to 40,000 at nitro.[21]
  • Magmator generation rates go from 10 at starter tier up to 40,000 at nitro.[21]
  • Solar Panel generation rates go from 20 at starter tier to 2,000 at nitro.[21]
  • Thermo Generator generation rates go from 20 at starter tier to 800 at nitro.[21]
Tip: Solar Panels and Thermo Generators top out far lower than the other generators. A nitro Solar Panel is set to 2,000 and a nitro Thermo Generator to 800, while nitro Furnators and Magmators reach 40,000 and a nitro Reactor reaches 250,000.[21]

Storage and transport

  • Energy Cable transfer rates by tier are 500, 2,000, 5,000, 20,000, 50,000, 200,000 and 1,000,000, from starter to nitro.[21]
  • Energy Cells and Batteries share the same numbers. Capacity goes from 1,000,000 at starter tier to 2,000,000,000 at nitro, and transfer rate goes from 1,000 to 2,000,000.[21]
  • Ender Cells and Ender Gates both get 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 12 channels, from starter to nitro. Ender Gate transfer rates run from 500 to 1,000,000.[21]
  • Energizing Rod transfer rates go from 100 at starter tier to 200,000 at nitro.[21]
  • Player Transmitter charging rates go from 500 at starter tier to 1,000,000 at nitro.[21]
Watch out: At every tier, a cable's transfer rate is half the transfer rate of an Energy Cell of the same tier. For example, a basic cable is set to 2,000 while a basic cell is set to 4,000. Keep that in mind when you plan how much power a single cable line can carry.[21]

Unverified The sources only show this pack's values, not the mod's defaults. So it can't be confirmed which of these numbers the pack changed from stock Powah!. The sources also don't state the energy units or whether rates are per tick.

What changed in Powah! between versions?

In FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 you're playing with Powah! version 6.2.10, shipped as the file Powah-6.2.10.jar. The mod was first included in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 or earlier, so it's been part of the pack since at least this release.[2]

Unverified A detailed history of what changed in Powah! between pack releases isn't available yet. There are no pack changelog entries for this mod and no stored changelogs for the shipped jar, so specific additions, fixes or balance changes can't be confirmed here.
