What is L_Ender's Cataclysm?
1 part
Cataclysm is a mod about difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. The pitch is simple: beat the bosses to prove yourself and earn strong gear. If you like a real fight in your modpack, this mod is for you.[1]
The pack ships L_Ender's Cataclysm 3.33 for Minecraft 1.21.1. It's a NeoForge build, since the mod page notes there is no Fabric version.[1][2]
Where it fits in the pack's progression
Cataclysm items show up in the pack's quest book, mostly in the World Engine chapters. The quests are untitled, so I'm describing them by their tasks. Tier 3 has two quests, one that asks you to kill something and hand in an Ignitium Ingot ("Ignitium" quest) and one that asks for the Music Disc ("Rhythm of the Inferno" quest).[3]
Tier 4 goes further. One quest asks for a gate pearl, an Abyssal Sacrifice and an Abyssal Egg ("Abyssal Sacrifice" quest). Another asks for a Cursium Ingot together with a euphonium ("Euphonium" quest).[4]
The bounty board chapter uses the mod too. "Kill The Leviathan" quest combines a gate pearl and an Abyssal Sacrifice with a kill task and two structure tasks. "Block of Ignitium Trade" quest asks for an Block of Ignitium and unlocks after the tier 3 ignitium quest.[5]
The ignitium ingot also appears in the creative chapter, alongside several non-Cataclysm items, in "Creative Toggleable Laser" quest.[6]
Unverified The sources don't include an in-jar guidebook for this mod, and they don't say how to find the dungeons or fight the bosses. Check the quests in-game for the exact requirements.
How do you get started with L_Ender's Cataclysm?
4 parts
Cataclysm adds difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. The sources I have don't include an in-jar guidebook or a full progression guide, so this section sticks to what the pack's recipes and quests confirm.[1]
Step 1: Craft the Belt of Beginner
The Belt of Beginner has a recipe the pack has changed, so don't trust a recipe you remember from the mod's defaults. The block below shows the exact in-pack recipe. What the belt does isn't confirmed in my sources, so check its tooltip in game.[7]

Step 2: Gear up with Black Steel
Black Steel gear uses the mod's own recipes, with no pack changes. Here is the pickaxe and the sword. The axe, shovel and hoe also have recipes, along with the Black Steel Targe. I couldn't confirm in the sources where Black Steel Ingots come from, so I can't tell you how to get them.[7]

Step 3: Work toward Ignitium
The pack's tier 3 quest chapter has a quest that pairs a kill task with an Ignitium Ingot task, and a separate quest for the Ignis music disc. The mod itself has an advancement about summoning and defeating the Ignis. The sources don't say what the Ignis drops, so I can't confirm it is the ingot's source.[3][8]
Once you have ingots, Block of Ignitium is a simple storage recipe. A bounty board quest then asks you to hand one in, and it unlocks after the Ignitium Ingot quest ("Ignitium" quest). You can also turn Ignitium into Blazing Grips, and the mod's tooltip says they have a chance to apply Blazing Brand on hit.[3][5][7][8]

Recipe id: cataclysm:blazing_grips
Step 4: Prepare for tier 4
The tier 4 chapter asks for an Abyssal Sacrifice and an Abyssal Egg in one quest ("Abyssal Sacrifice" quest). The bounty board also asks for the sacrifice ("Kill The Leviathan" quest). The pack changed both Abyssal Sacrifice recipes, so use these exact ones. One uses Crystallized Coral and the other uses Coral Chunk.[4][5][7]

Another tier 4 quest ("Euphonium" quest) wants a Cursium Ingot. The only Cursium Ingot recipe in my sources turns a Block of Cursium back into an ingot, so where the first Cursium comes from is unconfirmed.[4][7]
Unverified Where to find Black Steel, Cursium and the boss structures, and what the Belt of Beginner does, can't be confirmed from the sources I have. Check in game or with the quest book.
How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work?
3 parts
Here's the honest picture before we dig in: the sources describe Cataclysm as a mod of difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. They don't describe machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation for it, so I won't make any up. What is documented is boss behaviour, weapon abilities and a few pack-changed crafting recipes.[1]
How bosses behave in this pack
The pack changes how several bosses handle damage. Each boss has a damage cap setting, and the pack raises most of them a lot. The Ender Guardian, Scylla, Maledictus, the Leviathan and the Netherite Monstrosity all sit at 1,000 (mod defaults were 20 or 22). The Ancient Remnant's cap is also 1,000 (mod default 21), and Ignis is 1,000 (mod default 20). The Harbinger goes furthest at 10,000 (mod default 22).[9]
- Ignis.IgnisDamageCap, [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageCap]], [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Scylla.Scylla DamageCap]] and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanDamageCap]] are all 1,000 in the pack.[9]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger. The Harbinger DamageCap]] is 10,000 in the pack, against a mod default of 22.[9]
- Maledictus.MaledictusDamageCap and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityDamageCap]] are also 1,000 in the pack.[9]
Healing without a target is tuned down too. The pack sets the Ender Guardian, Maledictus, the Leviathan, the Netherite Monstrosity and the Ancient Remnant to 20 (mod default 25), while Ignis gets 10 (mod default 25). Ignis also has its healing multiplier cut to 0.65 from 1, and its damage time set to 10 from 15.[9]
- Ignis.IgnisNatureHealing is 10 and Ignis.IgnisHealingMultiplier is 0.65 in the pack.[9]
- Ignis.IgnisDamageTime is 10 in the pack (mod default 15).[9]
Some boss rules stay at the mod's own values. If a boss leaves its summon location with no target, it returns to where it was summoned, controlled by [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.ReturnHome]], set to 20 here. Setting it to 0 stops bosses returning. The respawner options for the Ender Guardian, Harbinger, Monstrosity, Remnant and Scylla are all switched on in the pack.[9]
Block breaking is handled per boss. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantBlockBreaking]] is true, meaning the Remnant's block breaking ignores the mob griefing rule. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.EndergolemBlockBreaking]] is false.[9]
The Ancient Remnant is also immune to long-distance attacks beyond a set range, 14 in this pack, controlled by [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.Ancient Remnant's prevent attacks from far away Range]]. The Ender Golem has the same kind of setting at 6.[9]
The cursed tombstone block has a summon cooldown of 1 minute, set by [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Block.Cursed Tombstone Summon cooldown Minute]]. That's the mod default.[9]
Weapon abilities worth knowing
Most of the gear has active abilities rather than passive stats. Here are a few that the mod's own tooltips describe.[8]
- Ancient Spear: left click to shoot a Sandstorm.[7][8]
- Astrape: right click to shoot a Lightning Spear.[7][8]
- The Laser Gatling can be reloaded with Redstone from your inventory.[8]
- The Incinerator charges while you hold right click for 3 seconds, then summons a flame strike where you're facing. Its tooltip warns that items may be lost when the flame strike explodes.[8]
- The Cursed Bow can shoot 3 Phantom Arrows. Special arrows fire two shots instead.[8]
The pack also lowers some damage values. Phantom Arrow damage is 5 (mod default 8) and Cursed Sandstorm damage is 6 (mod default 7.5), via [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Entity damage.Phantom Arrow Damage]] and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Entity damage.Cursed Sandstorm Damage]].[9]
Pack-changed crafting

How do you progress through L_Ender's Cataclysm?
4 parts
This pack doesn't give Cataclysm its own quest chapter. The mod's items show up inside the World Engine tier 3 and tier 4 chapters and on the bounty board, so you progress through it as part of the wider pack. Here's what the quests and recipes actually tell us.[3][4][5]
Tier 3: Ignitium
- "Ignitium" quest has a kill task and asks you to hand in an Ignitium Ingot.[3]
- "Rhythm of the Inferno" quest asks for the Music Disc.[3]
- On the bounty board, "Block of Ignitium Trade" quest asks for a Block of Ignitium. It unlocks after the tier 3 ignitium quest and one other quest.[3][5]
You can compress ingots into a block and turn a block back into ingots, both with the mod's own recipes.[7]
The Ignitium upgrade template is a mod recipe, not a pack change.[7]

Tier 4: Abyssal and Cursium
- "Abyssal Sacrifice" quest asks for a Gate Pearl, an Abyssal Sacrifice and an Abyssal Egg.[4]
- "Euphonium" quest asks for a Cursium Ingot and an Euphonium.[4]
- The bounty board quest "Kill The Leviathan" quest also asks for a Gate Pearl and an Abyssal Sacrifice. On top of that it has a kill task and two structure tasks.[5]
The pack changed the Abyssal Sacrifice recipe, and there are two versions. One uses Crystallized Coral and the other uses Coral Chunk. Either one works.[7]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work with other mods?
3 parts
Cataclysm's materials don't stay in their own corner in this pack. The pack added a smithing recipe and several World Engine machine recipes that use Cataclysm items, and a number of quests ask you to hand in Cataclysm drops.[3][4][7]
Smithing: Skullfire Sword
The pack added a smithing recipe that turns a Celestigem Sword into the Skullfire Sword. It uses Cataclysm's Smithing Template together with Ignitium Ingot.[7]
This smithing recipe was added by the pack.
World Engine recipes
The other crossovers are custom machine recipes in the World Engine group, all added by the pack. Each one pairs a Cataclysm item with materials from other mods. Here is which Cataclysm item goes into which recipe:[7]
- Cursium Ingot is used in the Euphonium recipe, which makes Euphonium.[7]
- Cursed Bow is used in the Infinity Bow recipe, which involves Longbow of the Heavens.[7]
- Music Disc has its own World Engine recipe.[7]
- Abyssal Egg is used in the Resonant Void recipe, which involves Resonant Void.[7]
- Ignitium Ingot is used in the Spirit Block recipe, which involves Spirit Block.[7]

Quests that use Cataclysm items
The World Engine tier 3 chapter has a quest with a kill task and an Ignitium Ingot task, and another that asks for Music Disc. They are "Ignitium" quest and "Rhythm of the Inferno" quest.[3]
Tier 4 goes further. "Abyssal Sacrifice" quest asks for an Abyssal Sacrifice and an Abyssal Egg, among other tasks. "Euphonium" quest asks for Cursium Ingot and Euphonium.[4]
The bounty board chapter also touches Cataclysm. "Kill The Leviathan" quest includes an Abyssal Sacrifice task along with kill and structure tasks. "Block of Ignitium Trade" quest asks for an Block of Ignitium and comes after the tier 3 Ignitium quest.[3][5]
Finally, "Creative Toggleable Laser" quest in the creative chapter lists Ignitium Ingot among its tasks, alongside items from other mods.[6]
Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use L_Ender's Cataclysm?
5 parts
Cataclysm items show up in four quest chapters in this pack: the bounty board, World Engine tier 3, World Engine tier 4 and the creative chapter. All of these quests are untitled in the quest file, so I'm pointing you to them by their quest refs and what they ask for.[3][4][5][6]
World Engine tier 3
- "Ignitium" quest has two tasks. You have to kill something, then hand in an Ignitium Ingot. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter.[3]
- "Rhythm of the Inferno" quest asks you to submit Music Disc. It unlocks after the same earlier quest as the one above, so you can do the two in either order.[3]
World Engine tier 4
- "Abyssal Sacrifice" quest wants three items: a Gate Pearl, an Abyssal Sacrifice and an Abyssal Egg. It needs two earlier quests to be done first.[4]
- "Euphonium" quest asks for a Cursium Ingot and a Euphonium. It follows one earlier quest.[4]
Bounty board
- "Kill The Leviathan" quest has five tasks: a Gate Pearl, an Abyssal Sacrifice, a kill task and two structure tasks. No prerequisite is listed for it.[5]
- "Block of Ignitium Trade" quest asks for a Block of Ignitium. It needs two earlier quests, and one of them is the tier 3 quest "Ignitium" quest.[3][5]
Creative chapter
"Creative Toggleable Laser" quest is a five-item hand-in. One of the items is an Ignitium Ingot, and the rest come from other mods. It unlocks after one earlier quest.[6]
Suggested order
The one chain that crosses chapters runs from "Ignitium" quest in tier 3 to "Block of Ignitium Trade" quest on the bounty board. Ignitium is the thread through the pack: you need an ingot for the tier 3 quest and the creative quest, and a block for the bounty board. The tier 4 quests are chained to their own earlier quests.[3][4][5][6]
Unverified The quest file doesn't say which mobs you have to kill or which structures you have to find. The rest of the prerequisite chains also point at quests that aren't described here, so I can't tell you the exact order of the full chapters.
Which L_Ender's Cataclysm config options matter?
4 parts
Most of the Cataclysm config is left at the mod's defaults in this pack. Health and damage multipliers for the bosses and mobs are all 1, which matches the defaults. The pack only changes a handful of boss values, listed below as the pack value versus the mod default.[9]
Boss damage caps
The biggest change is the DamageCap option on the bosses. The pack raises every one of them well above the mod default.[9]
- Ancient Remnant: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantCap]] is 1,000 (mod default 21).[9]
- Ender Guardian: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageCap]] is 1,000 (mod default 22).[9]
- Ignis: Ignis.IgnisDamageCap is 1,000 (mod default 20).[9]
- Maledictus: Maledictus.MaledictusDamageCap is 1,000 (mod default 20).[9]
- Netherite Monstrosity: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityDamageCap]] is 1,000 (mod default 22).[9]
- Scylla: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Scylla.Scylla DamageCap]] is 1,000 (mod default 22).[9]
- The Leviathan: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanDamageCap]] is 1,000 (mod default 20).[9]
- The Harbinger: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Harbinger. The Harbinger DamageCap]] is 10,000 (mod default 22), the highest of the set.[9]
Healing when a boss has no target
Several bosses have a "healing without target" option, which the pack lowers from the mod default of 25. Ancient Remnant ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantNatureHealing]]), Ender Guardian ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianNatureHealing]]), Maledictus (Maledictus.MaledictusNatureHealing), Netherite Monstrosity ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityNatureHealing]]) and The Leviathan ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanNatureHealing]]) are all set to 20.[9]
Ignis is hit harder by this. Ignis.IgnisNatureHealing is 10, and Ignis.IgnisHealingMultiplier is 0.65 instead of 1. Scylla keeps the default of 25 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Scylla.Scylla NatureHealing]]).[9]
Other changed values
- Ignis.IgnisDamageTime is 10 (mod default 15).[9]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Entity damage.Cursed Sandstorm Damage]] is 6 (mod default 7.5).[9]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Entity damage.Phantom Arrow Damage]], described as the player's Phantom Arrow damage, is 5 (mod default 8).[9]
Left at default
The boss respawner toggles, such as [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Boss Respawner.ScyllaRespawner]] and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Boss Respawner.HarbingerRespawner]], are all true. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.ReturnHome]] is 20, and a value of 0 would stop bosses from returning to their summon spot. Boss music is on, and the weapon cooldowns and mob spawn weights match the mod defaults.[9]
