What is Create: Dragons Plus?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Create: Dragons Plus is a Create addon that adds convenient features for players, plus dev utilities for other Create addon authors. As a player, you'll mostly care about the first part: it gives your Encased Fans new jobs and makes tank handling easier.[1]

This pack ships version 1.11.7b, and the mod has been in the pack since 2.47 or earlier.[2]

What it adds

  • Bulk Coloring: use Dye Fluids with an Encased Fan to dye items. It supports most crafting recipes that use dyes.[1]
  • Bulk Freezing: use Powder Snow with an Encased Fan to freeze items.[1]
  • Bulk Ending: use a Dragon Head or Dragon's Breath (fluid) with an Encased Fan to infuse items with energy from The End.[1]
  • Bulk Sanding: use Quicksand with an Encased Fan to polish items. It supports all Sand Paper polishing recipes. Since version 1.8.5, Quicksand is no longer required if the Bulk Sanding block tag contains any block.[1]
  • Fluid Hatch: works like the Item Hatch, but gives you convenient take and deposit operations on Fluid Tanks.[1]

Who it's for

If you already run Create and want to process items in bulk with fans instead of one at a time, this mod is for you. It's also handy if you want simpler fluid tank access.[1]

The mod also has optional integrations with other mods, such as Create: Simulated, Create: Granished, Create: Dreams & Desires, The Aether, Dye Depot, Dyenamics, Arts & Crafts and Ars Nouveau. Each one only matters if that mod is installed. Its features can be enabled or disabled, unless a dependent mod forces them on or off.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show any quests for this mod, any role on the ATM Star path, or an in-game guidebook. They also don't confirm which of the integration mods are in this pack, or whether the pack changed any of the mod's configs or recipes.

How do you get started with Create: Dragons Plus?

4 parts

Create: Dragons Plus is all about what an Encased Fan can do once air flows through special materials. It adds Bulk Coloring, Bulk Freezing, Bulk Ending and Bulk Sanding, plus a Fluid Hatch for tanks. You don't need to make everything at once. Pick the setup you want and build up to it.[1]

Your first things to make

  1. Start with dyes for Bulk Coloring. Air flowing through Liquid Dye creates a Coloring Setup, and it works with most crafting recipes that use dyes. In this pack, each vanilla dye color can be mixed with water to give the mod's own version, for example Red Dye. The pack changed these mixing recipes, so use the one shown below.[1][3][4]
  2. Next, get Dragon's Breath for Bulk Ending. An Encased Fan can use a Dragon Head or Dragon's Breath fluid to infuse items with energy from The End. In this pack you get Dragon's Breath by emptying a vanilla dragon's breath bottle, which also gives the glass bottle back. The pack changed this recipe too.[1][3][4]
  3. Finally, craft the Smithing Template. The pack changed this recipe as well. The only thing I can confirm about it is that its additions slot is described as adding working blocks for Blaze.[3][4]

Dye: mixing recipe

Every dye color follows the same pattern: a vanilla dye plus water in a mixing recipe. Red is shown here as an example, and the other colors work the same way.[3]

Tip: Coloring air flow can also change the color of entities, and any armor they have equipped gets colored too.[4]
Tip: The Fluid Hatch makes a tank easy to use with fluid containers. It deposits fluid from the item you hold into the tank it sits on, and it lets you take fluid back out with empty containers. It's handy for filling your dye or Dragon's Breath tanks by hand.[1][4]

How does Create: Dragons Plus work?

7 parts

Most of what this mod adds revolves around one idea: you push air from an Encased Fan through a special medium, and that turns the fan into a new kind of processing setup. On top of the bulk setups, there is a hatch that makes fluid tanks easier to work with.[1][4]

Bulk processing with fans

  • Bulk Coloring: air flowing through Liquid Dye creates a Coloring Setup. It dyes items and works with most crafting recipes that use dyes.[1][4]
  • Bulk Freezing: air flowing through Powder Snow creates a Freezing Setup.[1][4]
  • Bulk Ending: air flowing through a Dragon Head or Dragon's Breath creates an Ending Setup that infuses items with energy from The End.[1][4]
  • Bulk Sanding: air flowing through a Bulk Sanding Catalyst, for example Quicksand, creates a Sanding Setup. It works with Sand Paper sanding recipes.[1][4]

All of these are switched on in this pack: recipes.enableBulkColoring, recipes.enableBulkFreezing, recipes.enableBulkEnding and recipes.enableBulkSanding are all set to true.[5]

The mod's own ponder scenes say Bulk Coloring is automatically compatible with certain crafting recipes that use dyes, in the same way as Bulk Blasting and Bulk Smoking. Bulk Sanding is likewise compatible with Sand Paper sanding recipes. The coloring air flow can also affect entities and change their color, and equipped armor gets colored too.[4]

The Bulk Sanding catalyst is not limited to Quicksand. According to the mod page, from version 1.8.5 on, Bulk Sanding activates if its block tag contains any block.[1]

Sand Paper polishing recipes

The pack leaves the generated Sand Paper polishing recipes for oxidized, polished and waxed blocks enabled. The options are features.recipe.recipe/sand_paper_polishing/oxidized_blocks, features.recipe.recipe/sand_paper_polishing/polished_blocks and features.recipe.recipe/sand_paper_polishing/waxed_blocks.[6]

Dye fluids

Dye fluids are enabled through features.fluid.fluid/dye. The pack has a Create mixing recipe for each dye color that turns the matching vanilla dye plus water into the mod's dye fluid. Here is the red one as an example.[3][6]

250× Red DyeChanged by the pack

Mixing (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:mixing/red_dye_from_item

Every dye color has its own mixing recipe in the pack.

When Dye Fluid meets Lava, colored concrete is generated. That behavior is on in the pack via features.fluid.fluid/dye/lava_interaction_generate_colored_concrete.[6]

Dragon's Breath

Dragon's Breath is available as a fluid (features.fluid.fluid/dragon_breath is true). The pack also keeps features.recipe.recipe/automatic_brewing/dragon_breath on, so automated brewing recipes for Dragon's Breath fluid are generated. The mod page adds that an Ars Nouveau Containment Jar produces Dragon's Breath.[1][6]

To get Dragon's Breath out of a bottle, use the emptying recipe below. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version.[3]

Emptying (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:emptying/dragon_breath

Vision through fluids

Client options scale how far you can see through these fluids: dragonBreathVisionMultiplier for Dragon's Breath and dyeVisionMultiplier for dye fluids. The pack leaves both at the mod default of 1, and the allowed range is 1.0 to 256.0.[7]

Fluid Hatch

The Fluid Hatch makes a tank easy to interact with using fluid containers. It deposits the fluid from your held item into the tank it is placed on. It can also take stored fluid back out of the tank when you use empty fluid containers. The mod page compares it to the Item Hatch. It is enabled in the pack through features.block.block/fluid_hatch.[1][4][6]

Create: Simulated integration

If you use the Create: Simulated series, bulk processing air currents from a Simulated Contraption can interact with blocks. The pack enables this with features.recipe.fluid/air_current_block_interaction.[1][4][6]

The same integration adds Fragile Fluid Tanks, which break on impact. When one breaks, its fluid effect is applied to the surroundings. features.recipe.fluid/fragile_fluid_tank is enabled in the pack.[1][4][6]

Watch out: The Smithing Template is disabled in this pack, because features.item.item/blaze_upgrade_smithing_template is set to false. A crafting recipe for it still shows up in the recipe data, but don't plan around getting it.[3][6]

How do you progress through Create: Dragons Plus?

3 parts

The recipe data for this pack shows Create: Dragons Plus as a small set of recipes rather than a tiered ladder, and every one of them is marked as changed by the pack. So the pack's recipes are the truth here, not whatever you remember from the mod's defaults.[3]

Unverified The sources here show no quests involving this mod, so where it sits in the pack's quest book is not confirmed. Check the quest book chapters in game for any guidance.

Smithing template

The one crafting recipe is for the Smithing Template. It is a shaped crafting recipe, and the pack changed it.[3]

The dye set

The mod has its own version of each dye color, from White Dye to Black Dye, and each one is made with a Create mixing recipe. Red Dye is shown below as an example, and the red recipe is marked as changed by the pack.[3]

How does Create: Dragons Plus work with other mods?

3 parts

Create: Dragons Plus is mostly a Create add-on, but in this pack its items show up in recipes from a few other mods. These are the connections I can confirm from the pack's recipes.[3]

Create Connected: Dragon's Breath fan catalyst

The recipe below involves this mod's Dragon's Breath Bucket, the Empty Fan Catalyst and the Fan Ending Catalyst with Dragon's Breath. The pack changed this Create item application recipe, so don't assume it matches the mod's default.[3]

Create: Enchantment Industry: Blaze upgrades

The Smithing Template is the template for upgrading a Blaze Burner into the Blaze Enchanter or the Blaze Forger. Both are smithing transform recipes that come from the mod, not from the pack. The Enchanter uses an Enchanting Table as its extra piece, and the Forger uses an Anvil.[3]

Productive Metalworks: casting Create's natural stones

The pack adds block casting recipes for Asurine, Crimsite, Limestone, Ochrum and Veridium. Each one uses a dye from this mod, so the mod's dyes are your route to these stones. The Limestone recipe is the one that involves Smooth Stone. The exact recipes are shown below.[3]

Which Create: Dragons Plus config options matter?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.18.0 guide

Create: Dragons Plus has client, common and server config files in this pack. Most of what you'll care about is simple on/off switches for its features, and the pack leaves nearly all of them on. The exception is the Blaze Upgrade Smithing Template.[8][9][10]

Client: seeing through fluids

The client options scale how far you can see while looking through the mod's fluids: dragonBreathVisionMultiplier for Dragon's Breath and dyeVisionMultiplier for Dye Fluids. The pack sets both to 1, which is also the mod default, so nothing is changed here. Each option accepts values from 1.0 to 256.0.[8]

Server: bulk processing

The server file has a switch for each bulk fan processing type the mod adds: coloring, ending, freezing and sanding. The pack has every one of them set to true, so they are all active.[1][10]

Common: feature toggles

The common file decides which blocks, fluids, items and generated recipes exist. Here is how the pack sets them.[9]

What changed in Create: Dragons Plus between versions?

3 parts

FTB StoneBlock 4 1.14.2 ships Create: Dragons Plus 1.10.1. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0.0 or earlier.[11]

Everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. I don't have pack changelog entries for this mod, and I only have changelogs for some versions (1.8.1, 1.8.4 to 1.8.7 and 1.10.0 to 1.10.1), so there may be releases in between that aren't covered here.[12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19]

1.10.1 (the version in this pack)

  • The Sable Integration feature setting moved to the Global Feature setting, which should prevent some loading issues. Sable Integration now loads with Sable instead of Create Aeronautics.[12]
  • Fixed: with Supplementaries installed, coloring sand turned it into suspicious sand with the dye inside.[12]
  • Fixed: Immersive Engineering potions couldn't be taken out through a Fluid Hatch.[12]
  • Fixed a crash when only Sable was installed, a KubeJS related error, floor differences compared to the vanilla Create Ponder, and a JEI Sanding category icon error caused by Quicksand lacking an item model for its block.[12]
  • Added a Bulgarian localization and updated the French one.[12]

1.10.0 and 1.10.0b

  • Both releases are updates for Create 6.0.10. If you use Create: Simulated, the changelog says to update it to at least 1.1.0.[13][14]
  • 1.10.0 added Ponders for the Create: Simulated compat and extension features, and implemented more fluid effects for the Fragile Fluid Tank.[14]
  • 1.10.0 also fixed an issue that made everything unmineable.[14]
  • 1.10.0b fixed the crafting recipe of the Fragile Fluid Tank.[13]

1.8.x releases

  • 1.8.7 (for Create 6.0.9): fixed a crash when pondering the encased fan with Bulk Sanding in certain situations.[15]
  • 1.8.6 (for Create 6.0.9): added the item tag not_applicable_for_coloring, which stops specific items from being bulk colored.[16]
  • 1.8.6 also fixed two ponder crashes (encased fan with Dreams and Desires but without Quicksand, and the bulk freezing ponder with Oreganized installed), and an infinite fluid dupe when a Fluid Hatch interacted with Mekanism's Fluid Tanks.[16]
  • 1.8.5: Bulk Sanding no longer needs Quicksand as a hard requirement. It activates if Quicksand is installed, C:DnD is installed, or the Bulk Sanding block tag contains a block. This release also updated the recipe format for compatibility with the new KubeJS-Create.[17]
  • 1.8.4: updated for Create 6.0.8.[18]
  • 1.8.1: fixed the Break Fan Catalyst tags of Create: Dreams & Desires, so Catalyst Sails should now work correctly.[19]
