What is Tropicraft?
2 parts
Tropicraft adds a tropical dimension to your world, with rainforests, beaches and deep oceans to explore. This pack includes version 9.8.1.[1][2]
In the mod's normal route to the tropics, you craft a beach chair, craft a Piña Colada, and sip the drink in the chair at sunset. In this pack that cocktail is the whole point.[1][3]
Where the quest book puts it
Tropicraft has its own chapter, "Pina Colada", in the "Main Questline" group. It is chapter 6 of 31 in the book and holds 39 quests. Two of those quests are not covered here, so check them in the quest book itself.[3]
The final quest, "Piña Colada" quest, asks for a Cocktail. The quest text calls it the ultimate end-goal of the pack. After crafting it, you must drink it at around 17:00 (5PM) game-time while sitting on a Tropicraft chair.[3]
Several quests lead into it: a quest in "Pina Colada", "Bedrockium Mug" quest, a quest in "Pina Colada", a quest in "Pina Colada" and one called Paradoxical Mixing. The sources show nothing after it in this chapter.[3]
Tropicraft items along the way
- a quest in "Pina Colada" asks for a Pineapple. It comes after "Black Hole Juicing" quest, and the quest text describes making pineapples from antimatter and an Insanium Apple instead of finding them.[3]
- a quest in "Pina Colada" asks for Pineapple Cubes, cut with an Assembly Controller that has the Drill Unit upgrade.[3]
- a quest in "Pina Colada" asks for a Coconut and a Coconut Chunk. The quest text says NeoVitae's Tau Fruit can be turned into the coconut, which you then slice into chunks with an Athenor or an Electric Cutting Machine.[3]
- a quest in "Pina Colada" asks for a Orange, which you break down into crystals using Mekanism's chemical processing chain.[3]
The quest text says the road to the perfect drink takes you through most of the mods, mechanics and dimensions in the pack. It also says you don't have to use Create, Modern Industrialization or Bees to play.[3]
How do you get started with Tropicraft?
6 parts
Tropicraft has one big job in this pack: the Piña Colada. The Main Questline ends with the "Piña Colada" quest quest, which asks for the Cocktail, and the pack calls it the ultimate end-goal. Here is a sensible order to start in.[3]
Step one: Bamboo Sticks
Start by turning bamboo into Bamboo Stick. They go into the chair, the bamboo bundles and the ladders you will want next.[4]

Recipe id: minecraft:stick_from_bamboo_item
Step two: a chair for the big finish
The Piña Colada quest says you must drink the cocktail at around 17:00 game-time while sitting on a Tropicraft chair. Make one early so it is ready when you are. The Black Chair is one of the chairs you can craft.[3][4]

Step three: diving gear
If you want to explore the ocean, you need air. Azurite Gem can be smelted from azurite ore, and it goes into the Pink Scuba Harness. The pack also adds smelting and blasting for Neovitae azurite dust into the same gem.[4]

Step four: the Drink Mixer
The Drink Mixer has a recipe that the pack changed, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod. The block below shows the pack's version. In the mod, you place two drink ingredients on the mixer and an empty mug on the base.[4][5]

Recipe id: tropicraft:drink_mixer
Step five: coconuts and pineapples
The quest book covers these in the Piña Colada chapter of the Main Questline. The a quest in "Pina Colada" quest covers getting a Coconut and slicing it into Coconut Chunk, using an Athanor or an Electric Cutting Machine. The a quest in "Pina Colada" quest covers the Pineapple, and a quest in "Pina Colada" turns it into Pineapple Cubes with an Assembly Controller.[3]

Good to know about the Tropics
- Hostile mobs are set not to spawn in the Tropics dimension ([[config:config/tropicraft-common.toml#Mobs.Should hostile mobs spawn in the Tropics dimension?]]).[6]
- Exploding coconuts can be thrown by non-op players in this pack ([[config:config/tropicraft-common.toml#Items.Allow exploding coconuts to be used by non-ops/creative mode players?]]).[6]
- Home trees, koa villages, and both land and ocean volcanoes are all switched on.[7]
How does Tropicraft work?
7 parts
Tropicraft is more of a world and crafting mod than a machine mod, so there is no power grid or pipe network to learn. The hands-on parts are a few placeable blocks, some cooking, and a handful of recipes this pack adds or reroutes.[1][5]
Air Compressor and scuba gear
The Air Compressor is the one block that works like a small machine. Its in-game description tells you to place an empty scuba harness in the compressor to fill it with air.[5]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: tropicraft:air_compressor
The Pink Scuba Harness is the harness you can craft from the recipe below. It is the kind of item the compressor's description refers to.[4][5]

Drink Mixer and cocktails
The Drink Mixer describes itself like this: place two drink ingredients on the mixer, then place an empty mug on the base, then ???, then enjoy! The in-game text keeps the middle step a secret, so you will need to try it yourself.[5]
In this pack, the Cocktail also has a Create sequenced assembly recipe that the pack itself adds. It is a long multi-step process, so check the recipe viewer for the full step list.[4]
Sequenced Assembly (create)
Bedrockium Mug
100× Cream of Coconut
Ice Cubes
6× Incomplete Bedrockium Mug
1000× Pineapple Juice
250× White Rum

Coconuts
The pack adds an Actually Additions empowering recipe that produces a Coconut. It uses some very late-game ingredients, so treat it as an advanced route.[4]
Empowering (actuallyadditions)
Recipe id: ftb:actuallyadditions/empowering/coconut
The pack leaves exploding coconuts open to everyone: [[config:config/tropicraft-common.toml#Items.Allow exploding coconuts to be used by non-ops/creative mode players?]] is set to true, so non-operators can throw them.[6]
Smelting, cooking and cutting
- Raw Fish becomes Cooked Fish in a furnace, a smoker or on a campfire.[4]
- Azurite ore can be smelted or blasted into an Azurite Gem. The pack also adds smelting and blasting recipes that turn Neovitae azurite dust into the same gem.[4]
- One Azurite Block can be turned back into 9 azurite gems.[4]
- A stonecutter turns one Chunk O' Head into 2 Chunk Slab.[4]
Smelting
- any azurite ore
Recipe id: tropicraft:azurite_gem_from_ores_azurite_smelting
The pack also adds Create cutting recipes for Tropicraft wood. Any block in the pack's Tropicraft mahogany tag cuts into 6 Mahogany Planks, and planks cut into a Mahogany Button. Other Tropicraft woods, such as mangrove and palm, get Create cutting recipes too.[4]
Cutting (create)

Dimension and structure settings
In this pack, hostile mobs do not spawn in the Tropics dimension, because [[config:config/tropicraft-common.toml#Mobs.Should hostile mobs spawn in the Tropics dimension?]] is false.[6]
Every Tropicraft structure toggle is on in this pack: home trees, the Koa village, land volcanoes and ocean volcanoes.[7]
- Home trees: home_trees.spacing is 24 and home_trees.separation is 8.[8]
- Koa village: koa_village.spacing is 24 and koa_village.separation is 8.[8]
- Volcanoes: volcanoes.spacing is 64 and volcanoes.separation is 16.[8]
How do you progress through Tropicraft?
5 parts
Tropicraft is the heart of this pack's end goal. The Piña Colada chapter sits in the Main Questline as chapter 6 of 31 and has 39 quests. It ends with the Cocktail, which the quest book calls the ultimate end-goal of the pack. The chapter says the journey takes you through most of the mods, mechanics and dimensions in the pack.[3]
The Piña Colada path
The Tropicraft items are only one part of the chapter. The rest is a long chain of quests that feed into the final drink. Here is the Tropicraft side of it, in quest order.[3]
- Pineapple: a quest in "Pina Colada" comes after "Black Hole Juicing" quest. The pack makes a Pineapple by combining antimatter with an Insanium Apple in a Mekanism nucleosynthesizer.[3][4]
- Pineapple Cubes: a quest in "Pina Colada" comes next. A Pneumaticcraft Assembly Controller with the Drill Unit upgrade turns the pineapple into Pineapple Cubes. The quest text calls them Pineapple Chunks, but the item it asks for is the cubes.[3][4]
- Coconut: a quest in "Pina Colada" asks for a Coconut and a Coconut Chunk. The quest comes after Empowering Crystals. It points you to NeoVitae's Tau Fruit for the coconut, then to an Athenor or an Electric Cutting Machine for the chunks.[3][4]
- Citric Acid Crystal: a quest in "Pina Colada" sends an Orange through Mekanism's Chemical Processing Chain, using the Chemical Dissolution Chamber and Chemical Washer. This gives the Coconut Cream its texture.[3]
- The other ingredients: the final drink also needs Ice Cubes, a Bedrockium Mug, a White Rum Bucket, a Cream of Coconut Bucket and the Paradoxical Mixing step. Most of these are not Tropicraft items, which is why the chapter pulls in so many other mods.[3]
- The finish: "Piña Colada" quest asks for the Cocktail. The quest says to drink it at around 17:00 (5PM) game-time while sitting on a Tropicraft chair.[3]
How the pack makes these items
The pack adds its own recipes for the Tropicraft items on this path. First, the pineapple:[4]

The pack also adds a coconut recipe for the Actually Additions empowerer.[4]
Empowering (actuallyadditions)

Coconut chunks have two pack recipes, matching the quest hint: the Modern Industrialization cutting machine and the NeoVitae Athenor.[3][4]
Cutting Machine (modern_industrialization)
Recipe id: ftb:modern_industrialization/cutting_machine/coconut_chunk
The cocktail has two pack recipes. In the Create sequenced assembly, one pass uses 100 Cream of Coconut, 1,000 Pineapple Juice and 250 White Rum. The Modern Industrialization constructor recipe is the big one: 5,000 Cream of Coconut, 50 Ice Cubes, 50,000 Pineapple Juice and 12,500 White Rum, plus the Bedrockium Mug.[4]

The seat for the final sip
The quest only says you need a Tropicraft chair. The Black Chair is one of the mod's chairs, and this is its recipe:[3][4]

Recipe id: tropicraft:black_chair
Tropicraft's own materials
Outside the quest chain, Tropicraft has its own gem tier. Azurite ore can be smelted or blasted into an Azurite Gem, eudialyte ore into an Eudialyte Gem, and manganese ore into a Manganese Ingot. The pack adds smelting and blasting recipes from NeoVitae azurite and eudialyte dust. It also adds recipes that turn Modern Industrialization manganese dust into manganese ingots.[4]
The pack changed the recipe for the Drink Mixer, so don't rely on the mod default. The pack's version uses a Tropical Circuit.[4]

Repeatable Tropicraft quests
The Bounty Board chapter (Exploration & Combat, chapter 11 of 31) includes "Pineapple Inflation" quest, which asks for a Pineapple, and a quest in "Bounty Board", which asks for a Cocktail. The chapter's intro says it holds repeatable quests for extra cash to spend at the shops.[9]
How does Tropicraft work with other mods?
5 parts
Tropicraft is the finish line of this pack's main questline. The "Pina Colada" chapter (group "Main Questline", chapter 6 of 31 in the book, 39 quests) ends with Tropicraft's Cocktail, and the route there runs through Mekanism, Modern Industrialization, Oritech, NeoVitae, Create and more. 14 of the chapter's quests aren't covered here, so check the quest book for those.[3][4]
The Cocktail
The quest "Piña Colada" quest asks for the Cocktail and comes after the Ice Cubes, Bedrockium Mug, White Rum Bucket, Cream of Coconut Bucket and Paradoxical Mixing quests. Once you craft it, the quest says to drink it at around 17:00 (5PM) game-time while sitting on a Tropicraft chair.[3]
The pack adds two recipes for the Cocktail: a Create sequenced assembly and a Modern Industrialization FTB Constructor recipe.[4]

The Pineapple quest comes after "Black Hole Juicing" quest. There you set up an Oritech black hole with a XyCraft extractor above it to pull out Liquid Antimatter. After the Pineapple, a quest in "Pina Colada" has you use a PneumaticCraft Assembly Controller with the Drill Unit upgrade to make Pineapple Cubes.[3]
Pineapple Cubes also feed a Create sequenced assembly that makes Ars Elemental's Flashpine.[4]

Coconuts
The quest a quest in "Pina Colada" says NeoVitae's Tau Fruit is how you turn magic into a coconut, and that you then slice it into chunks with an Athenor or an Electric Cutting Machine. In the pack, the Coconut comes from an Actually Additions empowering recipe that uses Strong Tau.[3][4]
Empowering (actuallyadditions)
Recipe id: ftb:actuallyadditions/empowering/coconut
There are two ways to get Coconut Chunk: a Modern Industrialization cutting machine recipe and a NeoVitae athanor recipe. Both use Lubricant.[4]

Coconut chunks can then be turned into Coconut Milk with an Oritech fluid centrifuge recipe.[4]
Centrifuge Fluid (oritech)
Recipe id: ftb:oritech/centrifuge_fluid/coconut_milk
Oranges
The quest a quest in "Pina Colada" sends your Tropicraft Orange through Mekanism's Chemical Processing Chain: the Chemical Dissolution Chamber, then the Chemical Washer, to get Citric Acid Crystals. The first step is a pack-added dissolution recipe.[3][4]
Dissolution (mekanism)
Recipe id: ftb:mekanism/dissolution/citrus_juice
Leaves, gems and circuits
The pack adds a Mekanism crushing recipe for every leaves item, so Tropicraft leaves such as Palm Leaves and Mahogany Leaves each give 2 Bio Fuel.[4][10]
Several Tropicraft materials are made from other mods' dusts, and the pack adds both smelting and blasting recipes for them:[4]
- Azurite Dust becomes Azurite Gem.[4]
- Eudialyte Dust becomes Eudialyte Gem.[4]
- Zircon Dust becomes Zircon Gem.[4]
- Shaka Dust becomes Shaka Ingot.[4]
- Modern Industrialization's Manganese Dust becomes Manganese Ingot.[4]
The Tropical Circuit is a pack-added crafting recipe that mixes Tropicraft items with Ultradense Polonium Quantized Bamboo. The pack also changed Tropicraft's own Drink Mixer recipe so it needs that circuit.[4]

Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Tropicraft?
2 parts
Tropicraft shows up in two quest chapters. The big one is the Pina Colada chapter, which is the pack's main questline and builds toward the final goal. The other is a small side appearance in the Bounty Board.[3][9]
Pina Colada chapter
This is chapter 6 of 31 in the quest book, in the Main Questline group, and it has 39 quests. Only a handful ask for Tropicraft items, but the whole chapter is one long recipe for a drink. The last quest, "Piña Colada" quest, asks for the Cocktail and calls it the ultimate end-goal of the pack.[3]
Here is the Tropicraft part of the path, in the order the quests unlock.[3]
- "Black Hole Juicing" quest comes first. It asks for a Black Hole block and an extractor, and it unlocks a quest in "Pina Colada", which asks for a Pineapple. The quest text says you decondense Liquid Antimatter to chemical Antimatter and convert an Insanium Apple to get one.[3]
- a quest in "Pina Colada" comes after the Pineapple quest. It asks for an Assembly Controller and Pineapple Cubes. The quest text says to use the Assembly Controller with the Drill Unit upgrade to cut the pineapples up (it calls the result Pineapple Chunks).[3]
- a quest in "Pina Colada" asks for an Orange, a Chemical Dissolution Chamber, a Chemical Washer and the crystal itself. The quest text says you progress through Mekanism's chemical processing chain to break oranges down into crystals for the Coconut Cream's texture.[3]
- a quest in "Pina Colada" unlocks after the Empowering Crystals quest and asks for a Coconut and a Coconut Chunk. The quest text says NeoVitae's Tau Fruit can be turned into a coconut, then sliced into chunks with an Athenor or an Electric Cutting Machine.[3]
- a quest in "Pina Colada" needs Empowering Crystals and the Coconut quest done first. Its text says to use Oritech's Fluid Separation on Liquid Darkness and Coconut Chunks to get Coconut Cream instead of coconut water.[3]
- a quest in "Pina Colada" comes after the Emulsifier quest, a quest in "Pina Colada" and a quest in "Pina Colada". Its text says to use Modern Industrialization's Mixer Machine, and that the pack made the mixer recipe easier so other mods can craft the machine.[3]
- "Piña Colada" quest is the finale. It unlocks after Ice Cubes, the Bedrockium Mug, White Rum Bucket, Cream of Coconut Bucket and Paradoxical Mixing quests are done.[3]
The pineapple also feeds a second branch. After the Pineapple quest, "Weird-tasting Fruit Juice" quest has you grow a pineapple like a crop and place Shimmering Ice and a Time Crystal Block on either side of it, with an extractor above, to get Temporal Pineapple Juice. That leads to "Time-Iced Juice" quest and then "Paradoxical Mixing" quest.[3]
Bounty Board chapter
The Bounty Board is chapter 11 of 31, in the Exploration & Combat group, with 59 quests. The chapter's intro says it holds repeatable quests that earn you some extra cash to spend at the shops.[9]
Two quests here ask for Tropicraft items. "Pineapple Inflation" quest asks for a Pineapple, and a quest in "Bounty Board" asks for a Cocktail with the line "You must really like Piña Coladas".[9]
Which Tropicraft config options matter?
3 parts
Tropicraft keeps its settings in a few files, and most of what you'll care about is who can use exploding coconuts, whether hostile mobs show up in the Tropics, and which structures generate. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.[6][7][8]
Gameplay options
- [[config:config/tropicraft-common.toml#Mobs.Should hostile mobs spawn in the Tropics dimension?]] is set to false in this pack, so hostile mobs don't spawn in the Tropics.[6]
- [[config:config/tropicraft-common.toml#Items.Allow exploding coconuts to be used by non-ops/creative mode players?]] is set to true, so regular players (not just ops or players in creative mode) can throw exploding coconuts.[6]
Structure toggles
Every Tropicraft structure toggle is switched on in this pack: home_trees.home_tree, koa_village.koa_village, volcanoes.land_volcano and volcanoes.ocean_volcano are all true.[7]
Structure placement
The placement file sets spacing, separation and salt for each structure. Here are the values the pack uses.[8]
- Home trees: home_trees.spacing is 24, home_trees.separation is 8 and home_trees.salt is 1,010,101,010.[8]
- Koa villages: koa_village.spacing is 24, koa_village.separation is 8 and koa_village.salt is 1,010,101,011.[8]
- Volcanoes: volcanoes.spacing is 64, volcanoes.separation is 16 and volcanoes.salt is 916,865,926.[8]
Unverified The sources don't list Tropicraft's own default values, so it is unverified which of these settings the pack changed from the mod default.
What changed in Tropicraft between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Tropicraft 9.8.1. The mod has been in the pack since Aero 1.0.3 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack from the start.[2]
Tropicraft 9.8.1
This is the version you're running, and its big news is that all the content the Tropicraft team made for LT24 now lives in the base mod. That adds these new things:[11]
- Papyrus Canary and Papyrus Gonolek[11]
- Flowering Lilypad[11]
- Duckweed[11]
- White-Collared Oliveback[11]
- White-Winged Warbler[11]
- Shoebill Stork[11]
The release also updated the uk_UA translations and bumped the Minecraft version to 1.21.1.[11]
Unverified I have no pack changelog entries for Tropicraft, so any changes the pack itself made to this mod between releases are unverified.
