What is Mystical Agriculture?
2 parts
Mystical Agriculture is all about growing your resources as crops. You plant seeds, harvest essences, and turn those essences into materials, mob drops, tools and armor. The pack ships version 8.0.17 of the mod.[1][2]
It's for you if you like automating your materials instead of mining or hunting for them over and over. The mod also covers growth speed, harvesting and processing. Growth Accelerators and Watering Cans speed crops up, Scythes and Sickles make harvesting easier, and the Harvester can reap fields automatically. The Seed Reprocessor gets more out of your spare seeds.[1]
How the basics work
Seeds are crafted using an Infusion Altar and Infusion Pedestal blocks, and placing the altar in the world shows you where the pedestals go. Inferium Seeds give you more Inferium Essence per harvest when you plant them on Essence Farmland. To upgrade the tier of essence, you need an Infusion Crystal.[1][3]
Mob seeds work differently. They need Soul Jar items of their mob type. To collect souls, keep Soul Jars in your inventory and kill that mob with a Soulium Dagger. Tools and armor can be made from Inferium up to Supremium essences, and you can upgrade them with augments.[1]
Where it fits in this pack
The pack guides you through the mod in its resource generation quest chapter. It starts by asking for Inferium Essence, Inferium Seeds and Inferium Farmland in a quest in "?". Next comes a quest in "?", which asks for a Prosperity Shard and an Infusion Crystal.[4]
After that the chapter branches out. a quest in "?" covers the altar, 8 pedestals and a Prosperity Seed Base. a quest in "?" covers the dagger, Soul Extractor and soul jar. a quest in "?" asks for the Seed Reprocessor. From the altar quest, the chapter moves on to Prudentium Essence in a quest in "?", then Tertium Essence in a quest in "?".[4]
Unverified This section doesn't confirm how the later quests in the chapter continue, or where the mod sits in the pack's overall progression.
How do you get started with Mystical Agriculture?
3 parts
Welcome to Mystical Agriculture in this pack! The idea is simple: you grow resources as crops, harvest essences, and turn those into materials, tools and armor. The pack's quest chapter shows a clear order to follow, so here is that route step by step.[1][4]
The first steps, in order
- Collect Inferium Essence, Inferium Seeds and Inferium Farmland. These are the three items the first quest of the resource chapter asks for, a quest in "?". The mod's own notes say Inferium Seeds are another source of Inferium Essence, that planting them on Essence Farmland gives more essence per harvest, and that you can make the farmland by crafting it or by right-clicking vanilla farmland.[1][4]
- Get a Prosperity Shard and an Infusion Crystal for a quest in "?". The Infusion Crystal is what upgrades the tier of an essence, and almost everything else in the chapter unlocks after this quest.[1][4]
- Build an Infusion Altar, 8 Infusion Pedestal and a Prosperity Seed Base for a quest in "?". The mod says seeds are crafted with the altar and pedestals, and that placing the altar in the world shows you where the pedestals go.[1][4]
- Start on resource seeds. The quests after the altar cover the first seed tier (a quest in "?"), the elemental seeds (a quest in "?"), better farmland (a quest in "?") and Prudentium Essence (a quest in "?"). Normal resource seeds need some of their resource plus the essence of the seed's tier.[1][4]
Getting Inferium Essence in this pack
The pack adds Immersive Engineering cloche recipes that turn Inferium Seeds into Inferium Essence. Plain dirt works as the soil, and so do the farmland tiers and several other soils. The pack adds the same set of cloche recipes for Iron Seeds to make Iron Essence.[5]

Getting Prosperity Shards in this pack
The pack adds two routes to Prosperity Shards. A Mekanism enriching recipe turns any prosperity ore into a shard. Sifting sand with a gold mesh can also drop one, along with several metal chunks.[5]

Unverified The exact in-pack recipes for Inferium Seeds and the Infusion Crystal are not in the sources used for this section. Check them in the recipe viewer in-game before you gather materials. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Mystical Agriculture work?
5 parts
Mystical Agriculture is mostly about growing things and crafting at altars, not about power cables or fluid pipes. The sources I have cover crop growth, the infusion and awakening altars, mob souls and the machine list, so that is what this section covers.[1]
Altars: infusion and awakening
Seeds are crafted with an Infusion Altar surrounded by Infusion Pedestals. When you place the altar in the world, it shows you where the pedestals go.[1]
To upgrade an essence to the next tier you need an Infusion Crystal. The basic crystal has a set number of uses, and in this pack that is 1,000 (General.infusionCrystalUses). That is the same as the mod default.[1][6]
The Awakening Altar is the higher-tier version. Awakened Supremium is usually made by infusing Cognizant Dust with a Supremium Block on this altar. Here is how the altar and its pedestal are crafted in this pack:[5][7]

Once you have Awakened Supremium Essence, it feeds a lot of crafting. You can make Awakened Supremium Ingot this way, and each of these items can be crafted back into its parts:[5]

Recipe id: mysticalagriculture:awakened_supremium_ingot
Growing faster
Growth Accelerators speed up the plant directly above them. In this pack a growth accelerator gives a growth tick every 10 seconds (General.growthAcceleratorCooldown). That is the mod default, so the pack hasn't changed it.[6][7]
The top tier is the Awakened Supremium Growth Accelerator:[5]
Crafting Shaped

| any stone | any stone | |
| any stone |
Recipe id: mysticalagriculture:awakened_supremium_growth_accelerator
Mystical Fertilizer instantly grows a crop or sapling. Essence Farmland gives you more Inferium Essence per harvest from Inferium Seeds. You can craft it, or right-click vanilla Farmland with an essence, which the pack allows (General.essenceFarmlandConversion).[1][6][7]
Harvesting a Resource Crop has a 0.1 chance to drop a Fertilized Essence (General.fertilizedEssenceChance). Watering cans can also be used by fake players, which matters if you automate watering (General.fakePlayerWatering).[6]
Pack changes to know about
Two more settings are off. Crops do not drop a second seed when harvested (General.secondarySeedDrops), and vanilla-style crafting recipes for seeds are not generated (General.seedCraftingRecipes).[6]
Mob souls
Mob seeds need Soul Jars of the matching mob. You carry the jars in your inventory and kill the mobs with a Soulium Dagger. Some dagger variants give extra souls from hostile or from peaceful creatures. The Soul Siphoner enchantment adds 10 percent more souls per level.[1][7]
The pack adds its own way to make Soulium Dust. It also adds a recipe that turns a Soulium Dagger into the Creative Soulium Dagger, which grants infinite souls from all creatures.[5][7]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: ftb:mysticalagriculture/soulium_dust_from_blood_vial
Cognizant Dust drops from the Wither and the Ender Dragon when you kill them with an Essence Weapon carrying Mystical Enlightenment. The pack leaves both drops enabled (General.witherDropsCognizant and General.dragonDropsCognizant).[6][7]
Machines
The mod's machines are the upgradable Furnaces, the Seed Reprocessor, the Harvester, the Enchanter and the Soulium Spawner. The Harvester harvests fields automatically, and the Seed Reprocessor gets more out of your extra seeds. The Enchanter uses extra resource essences, and the Soulium Spawner uses extra mob essences to spawn mobs.[1]
Machine upgrades change the operation speed, and the tooltip shows it as a multiplier. Supremium and Awakened Supremium upgrades both exist.[7]
Unverified The sources I have don't explain machine power or fluid needs, item input and output sides, or hopper and pipe automation. Check the machines in-game, or the in-game guide's Machines section, before you build an automated setup around them.
How do you progress through Mystical Agriculture?
5 parts
In this pack, Mystical Agriculture progression follows the quest chapter called resource_generation. The essence tiers go in a straight line: Inferium, Prudentium, Tertium, Imperium, Supremium, then Awakened Supremium. Each tier unlocks its own tools, armor, watering can and machine upgrade, plus new seeds.[4]
Starting out with Inferium
The chain opens with a quest in "?", which asks for Inferium Essence, Inferium Seeds and Inferium Farmland. The early-game chapter also has a quest asking for iron essence and inferium essence together, and another that asks for dirt essence.[4][8][9]
The pack adds Immersive Engineering Cloche recipes for inferium essence, dirt essence and iron essence. They accept plain dirt, the Mystical Agriculture farmlands, and soils from other mods such as Rich Soil and the Just Dire Things goo soils. Sifting dust with a cloth mesh can also drop dirt essence.[5]
Cloche (immersiveengineering)
Recipe id: ftb:cloche/inferium_essence_from_dirt
Pack-added Cloche recipe for early inferium essence.
Next is a quest in "?", which asks for a Prosperity Shard and an Infusion Crystal. The pack adds a Mekanism enriching recipe that turns prosperity ores into shards. A sifting recipe with the gold mesh can also drop a shard.[4][5]
Enriching (mekanism)
- any prosperity ore
Recipe id: ftb:processing/enriching/prosperity
Pack-added way to get prosperity shards.
Once that quest is done, a whole set of side quests opens up:[4]
- a quest in "?": a growth accelerator of any tier, from Inferium up to Awakened Supremium.[4]
- a quest in "?": the Furnace.[4]
- a quest in "?": the Soulium Dagger, Soul Extractor and Soul Jar.[4]
- a quest in "?": the Seed Reprocessor.[4]
- a quest in "?": the Tinkering Table and an Unattuned Augment.[4]
- a quest in "?": the Infusion Altar, eight Infusion Pedestal and a Prosperity Seed Base. This one unlocks the rest of the tier path.[4]
Climbing the essence tiers
After the Infusion Altar quest, the first batch of seed quests opens, and so do the farmland quest and the Prudentium Essence quest. From there each essence quest leads to the next:[4]
- a quest in "?": Prudentium Essence.[4]
- a quest in "?": Tertium Essence.[4]
- a quest in "?": Imperium Essence.[4]
- a quest in "?": Supremium Essence.[4]
Which seeds each step unlocks
The seed quests are grouped by which quest gates them. Each quest accepts any one seed from its list.[4]
- After the Infusion Altar quest: a quest in "?" for basics like Stone Seeds and Dirt Seeds, and a quest in "?" for the elemental seeds (Air Seeds, Earth Seeds, Water Seeds, Fire Seeds).[4]
- After Prudentium Essence: a quest in "?" for seeds like Nature Seeds, Coal Seeds and Aluminum Seeds. a quest in "?" covers animal seeds like Cow Seeds and also needs the soul quest done.[4]
- After Tertium Essence: a quest in "?" for seeds like Iron Seeds, Copper Seeds and Redstone Seeds. a quest in "?" covers hostile mob seeds like Zombie Seeds.[4]
- After Imperium Essence: a quest in "?" for seeds like Gold Seeds, Lapis Lazuli Seeds and End Seeds. a quest in "?" covers Experience Seeds, Blaze Seeds and Enderman Seeds.[4]
- After Supremium Essence: a quest in "?" for Diamond Seeds, Emerald Seeds and Netherite Seeds. a quest in "?" asks for Wither Skeleton Seeds.[4]
- At the end of the chapter, a quest in "?" and a quest in "?" ask for Nether Star Seeds and Dragon Egg Seeds, each with its crux. They follow a quest that is not in the data I have.[4]
Gear and upgrades per tier
Every tier has the same four quests. Each tier's quest needs the matching essence quest and the previous tier's version of the same item.[4]
- Inferium: a quest in "?" (tools), a quest in "?" (armor), a quest in "?" (watering can), a quest in "?" (machine upgrade).[4]
- Prudentium: a quest in "?" (tools), a quest in "?" (armor), a quest in "?" (watering can), a quest in "?" (machine upgrade).[4]
- Tertium: a quest in "?" (tools), a quest in "?" (armor), a quest in "?" (watering can), a quest in "?" (machine upgrade).[4]
- Imperium: a quest in "?" (tools), a quest in "?" (armor), a quest in "?" (watering can), a quest in "?" (machine upgrade).[4]
- Supremium: a quest in "?" (tools), a quest in "?" (armor), a quest in "?" (watering can), a quest in "?" (machine upgrade).[4]
The final step: Awakened Supremium
After the Supremium Essence quest, a quest in "?" asks for the Awakening Altar, an Awakening Pedestal and the Essence Vessel. a quest in "?" asks for Cognizant Dust. a quest in "?" asks for the Master Infusion Crystal.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| any gold ingot | any gold ingot | |
| Empty slot | Empty slot | |
Recipe id: mysticalagriculture:awakening_altar
a quest in "?" asks for an Awakened Supremium Block, and the awakened tools, armor, watering can and machine upgrade quests all follow it. The block is made by awakening a Supremium Block with the four elemental essences and cognizant dust. That is why the elemental seed quest matters earlier on.[4][5]
Awakening (mysticalagriculture)
Recipe id: mysticalagriculture:awakened_supremium_block_awakening
The awakened gear recipes in the pack data also use awakening. The ones shown cover the axe, hoe, bow, crossbow, fishing rod and armor pieces. Each takes the Supremium version of the item plus the elemental essences, an awakened gemstone and an awakened ingot. The awakened machine upgrade uses the same process, starting from the Supremium upgrade. The Awakened Supremium Sword also has its own quest in the wild hunt chapter, a quest in "?".[5][10]
Unverified The recipes for the other tiers' essences, seeds and gear are not confirmed here, and the in-game guide text was not available, so what each tier's seeds need to grow is unverified.
How does Mystical Agriculture work with other mods?
4 parts
Mystical Agriculture links up with other mods in this pack in a few ways. Most of them run through the Immersive Engineering Cloche, and there is one special Cognition recipe near the end of the progression. Here is what the pack's recipes and quests show.[4][5]
Growing essences in the Cloche
The pack adds Cloche recipes that turn Mystical Agriculture seeds straight into their essence, so you can grow essence without planting a normal crop. The soil you pick comes from other mods: Rich Soil from Farmer's Delight, the four Just Dire Things soils (Primogel Soil, Blazebloom Soil, VoidShimmer Soil and Shadowpulse Soil), or Insanium Farmland from the Mystical Agriculture addon.[5]
The recipes I could confirm cover Air Seeds, Aluminum Seeds, Amethyst Seeds, Armadillo Seeds, Blaze Seeds, Breeze Seeds, Bronze Seeds, Certus Quartz Seeds and Chicken Seeds. Each one has a version for every soil above. My source list is cut off after that point, so I can't confirm which other seeds have Cloche recipes.[5]
Cloche (immersiveengineering)
Recipe id: ftb:cloche/air_essence_from_rich_soil
One of the pack's Cloche recipes for essence. The other soils work the same way.
Essence farmland for other mods' crops
It also works in reverse. Mystical Agriculture's farmlands (Inferium Farmland, Prudentium Farmland, Tertium Farmland, Imperium Farmland and Supremium Farmland) act as soil in pack-added Cloche recipes for crops from other mods. These are Cabbage (Farmer's Delight), Canola Plant (Actually Additions), Aubergine (Roots) and Belladonna Flower (Enchanted).[5]
Ars Nouveau's Bastion Fruit and Bombegranate get the same treatment on these farmlands. Those recipes take the pod itself as the plant input and give a pod back, rather than starting from separate seeds.[5]
Primal Essence and the Cognition recipe
Late in the progression, the pack adds a Cognition Molecular Metamorphosis recipe that makes Primal Essence. It combines a apotheosis:mythic_material from Apotheosis, an Attuned Stone (Charged) from Enchanted and a primal essence catalyst from Cognition with Mystical Agriculture's Awakened Supremium Gemstone. This recipe is custom to the pack and not a default of any of these mods.[5]

Seeds for other mods' materials
Mystical Agriculture's project page says the mod adds resource crops for materials from many other mods, such as Applied Energistics 2, Mekanism and Powah. The pack's resource generation quest chapter shows this in practice. One quest accepts a long list of seeds, including Sky Stone Seeds, Certus Quartz Seeds and Quartz Enriched Iron Seeds. The same quest chapter also lists Insanium Farmland among its farmland options, in a quest in "?".[1][4]
Unverified I couldn't confirm which other mods' machines (for example, ones that could harvest or process Mystical Agriculture crops) are meant to pair with it in this pack. Check the quest book in-game for those.
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Mystical Agriculture?
3 parts
Mystical Agriculture has one main quest chapter in this pack, resource generation, plus a few single quests in other chapters. None of the quests have titles, so I point to them by their quest links. Where a quest lists several items joined by "or", handing in any one of them completes it.[4][8][9][10]
The resource generation chapter
This chapter is a ladder up the essence tiers. Each tier leads to the next essence, plus tools, armor, a watering can, a machine upgrade and a batch of seeds. Here's the order.[4]
- Start with a quest in "?". It asks for Inferium Essence, Inferium Seeds and Inferium Farmland.[4]
- a quest in "?" follows and asks for a Prosperity Shard and an Infusion Crystal. Many of the other quests in the chapter come after this one.[4]
- From there you get a set of side quests: any growth accelerator (a quest in "?"), an Inferium tool (a quest in "?"), the Inferium Watering Can (a quest in "?"), the Inferium Machine Upgrade (a quest in "?"), the Furnace (a quest in "?") and an Inferium armor piece (a quest in "?").[4]
- The same point also leads to the soul gear quest (a quest in "?") for the Soulium Dagger, Soul Extractor and Soul Jar, the Seed Reprocessor (a quest in "?"), and the Tinkering Table with an Unattuned Augment (a quest in "?").[4]
- a quest in "?" asks for the Infusion Altar, 8 Infusion Pedestal and a Prosperity Seed Base. After it come Prudentium Essence (a quest in "?"), farmland of any tier (a quest in "?"), seeds like stone, dirt, wood, ice and deepslate (a quest in "?"), and the air, earth, water and fire seeds (a quest in "?").[4]
- After Prudentium essence you get Prudentium tools (a quest in "?"), armor (a quest in "?"), the watering can (a quest in "?") and the upgrade (a quest in "?"). Two seed quests follow too: nature, dye, nether and similar seeds (a quest in "?"), and pig, chicken, cow and similar animal seeds (a quest in "?").[4]
- Tertium Essence (a quest in "?") comes next. Its follow-ups are Tertium armor (a quest in "?"), the upgrade (a quest in "?"), the watering can (a quest in "?") and tools (a quest in "?"). Two seed quests also come after it: zombie, skeleton, creeper, spider and rabbit seeds (a quest in "?") and the iron and copper group (a quest in "?").[4]
- Imperium Essence (a quest in "?") leads to the Imperium upgrade (a quest in "?"), tools (a quest in "?"), armor (a quest in "?") and watering can (a quest in "?"). Two more seed quests follow: gold, lapis and end seeds (a quest in "?"), and the experience, breeze, blaze, ghast and enderman group (a quest in "?").[4]
- Supremium Essence (a quest in "?") leads to the Supremium quests: tools (a quest in "?"), armor (a quest in "?"), the upgrade (a quest in "?") and the watering can (a quest in "?"). It also leads to wither skeleton seeds (a quest in "?") and the diamond and emerald group (a quest in "?").[4]
- The awakening branch starts with the Awakening Altar, Awakening Pedestal and Essence Vessel (a quest in "?"). Alongside it you'll find the Master Infusion Crystal (a quest in "?") and Cognizant Dust (a quest in "?").[4]
- With the awakening altar quest and the cognizant dust quest done, a quest in "?" asks for an Awakened Supremium Block. After it come the awakened gear quests: armor (a quest in "?"), the upgrade (a quest in "?"), the watering can (a quest in "?") and tools (a quest in "?").[4]
Two seed quests at the end of the chapter
Two more quests ask for a seed plus a crux item: Nether Star Seeds in a quest in "?" and Dragon Egg Seeds in a quest in "?". The crux items use a different namespace, mysticalagradditions. Both quests come after a quest that isn't in the sources I have, so I can't say what it asks for.[4]
Quests in other chapters
- In the beginning chapter, a quest in "?" asks for Diamond Seeds along with a diamond, a budding diamond and a diamond mesh.[8]
- Also in the beginning chapter, a quest in "?" asks for Iron Essence and Inferium Essence.[8]
- In the Resources You chapter, a quest in "?" asks for Dirt Essence.[9]
- In the wild hunt chapter, a quest in "?" asks for an Awakened Supremium Sword.[10]
Which Mystical Agriculture config options matter?
4 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Everything here lives in General.inferiumDropChance's file, config/mysticalagriculture-common.toml. The only value the pack's file marks as changed from the mod default is the Inferium mob drop chance. Everything else below is what the pack currently has set.[11]
The one change from the mod default
General.inferiumDropChance is set to 0 in this pack. The mod default is 0.2. That option controls the chance that a passive or hostile mob drops an Inferium Essence when killed, so in this pack mobs won't drop it.[11]
Farming options
- General.requiresEffectiveFarmland is false, so resource crops don't need to be planted on their effective Farmland to grow.[11]
- General.secondarySeedDrops is false, so crops don't have a chance of dropping a second seed when harvested.[11]
- General.seedCraftingRecipes is false, so vanilla crafting recipes for seeds aren't generated.[11]
- General.essenceFarmlandConversion is true, so right-clicking Farmland with an Essence creates Essence Farmland.[11]
- General.fertilizedEssenceChance is 0.1, the same as the mod default. That's the chance that harvesting a Resource Crop drops a Fertilized Essence.[11]
- General.growthAcceleratorCooldown is 10 seconds between Growth Accelerator growth ticks, the same as the mod default.[11]
- General.infusionCrystalUses is 1,000 uses for the basic Infusion Crystal, the same as the mod default.[11]
- General.fakePlayerWatering is true, so fake players can use watering cans.[11]
Gear and boss drops
- General.unbreakableSupremiumArmor is false, so Supremium and Awakened Supremium armor can break.[11]
- General.enchantableSupremiumTools is true, so Supremium and Awakened Supremium tools can be enchanted in an Enchanting Table.[11]
- General.awakenedSupremiumSetBonus is true, so a full set of Awakened Supremium armor grants the Plant Growth AOE set bonus.[11]
- General.dragonDropsEssence and General.witherDropsEssence are both true, so the Ender Dragon and the Wither drop essence when killed with an essence weapon.[11]
- General.dragonDropsCognizant and General.witherDropsCognizant are both true, so both bosses can drop Cognizant Dust when killed with a Mystical Enlightenment enchanted essence weapon.[11]
World generation
World.generateInferiumOre, World.generateProsperityOre and World.generateSoulstone are all true, so Inferium Ore, Prosperity Ore and Soulstone generate in the world. World.souliumOreChance is 0.05, the same as the mod default. That's the chance a Soulium Ore spawns in a Soulstone cluster.[11]
What changed in Mystical Agriculture between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 ships with Mystical Agriculture 8.0.17 for Minecraft 1.21.1. That is the version this guide describes, and it was already in the pack in 1.0.1 or earlier.[2]
What changed in 8.0.17
- A new vanilla crop was added: Phantom.[12]
- There is now a config option to make Supremium and Awakened Supremium armor unbreakable.[12]
- The ja_jp and es_mx translations were updated.[12]
- The API gained machine upgrade classes. This only matters to other mods that hook into Mystical Agriculture, not to normal play.[12]
The mod's changelog doesn't say whether the unbreakable armor option is on or off by default, so check the config in your own world before relying on it.[12]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Mystical Agriculture were available, so whether the pack changed anything for this mod in earlier releases is unverified.
