Apotheosis is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 8.9.0. All things that should have been (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Apotheosis?

1 part

Apotheosis is the big RPG-style overhaul in the pack. Its main feature is Affixes, bonuses you can find on any item, whether it comes from vanilla or another mod. The pack ships Apotheosis 8.7.0, and it's a great fit if you want gear progression and loot chasing without it taking over the whole game.[1][2]

The mod is split into modules. Apothic Attributes adds new attributes and potion effects, Apothic Spawners lets you pick up and modify Mob Spawners, and Apothic Enchanting overhauls the enchanting system. The Apotheosis "adventure" module adds Affixes, Gems and World Tiers.[1]

Here's the core loop. You find affix items in loot chests or as drops from mobs. Break them down in the Salvaging Table to get Rarity Materials, then spend those on reforging so you can make your own affix items. Gems add extra bonuses when socketed, and they can also be turned into Gem Dust.[1]

World Tiers are the difficulty ladder. There are five: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. Summit only opens after you've slain the Wither. Higher tiers give better loot but make every enemy in your world stronger.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

Apotheosis shows up in the gearing_up quest chapter, where the quests follow the mod's own crafting stations. Here's how that chain looks:[3]

Tip: For details beyond this guide, use the in-game guidebook, the Chronicle of Shadows, together with JEI. Modpacks can change content, and anything disabled in the pack won't show up in the book.[1]

How do you get started with Apotheosis?

7 parts

Apotheosis is all about affix items and gems, so your early game is about getting a few of both and then building the stations that make use of them. Want an in-game reference? Craft the Chronicle of Shadows guidebook from a book and a gold ingot.[1]

Find some gems and affix items

Affix items turn up in loot chests and drop from random entities. Gems come from chest loot too, and can rarely drop from mobs. Gems are more likely from bosses and have a very small drop chance from machines or other automation, so go kill things yourself. Your first affix item also unlocks the Haven world tier, which is active by default.[1][7][8]

Make Gem Dust

Gem Dust is an ingredient in most of the recipes below, and it is the first quest in the gearing_up chapter: "Gems" quest. Your first two dust come from crushing two gems with an anvil in-world. After that, you can use the Salvaging Table.[1][3][9]

Build the Salvaging Table

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials, and it also turns gems into Gem Dust. This is the quest "The Salvaging Table" quest. Each rarity gives its own material: Mysterious Scrap Metal from common items, Timeworn Fabric from uncommon, Luminous Crystal Shard from rare, Arcane Sands from epic, and Godforged Pearl from mythic.[3][9][10]

Reforging and sigils

The Simple Reforging Table ("Simple Reforging Table" quest) lets you reforge any valid item with new affixes, up to Rare rarity. It uses Rarity Materials plus Sigil of Rebirth as fuel.[3][4][9]

The other sigil quests in this chapter are tied to gems and sockets. Sigil of Socketing ("Sigil of Socketing" quest) adds sockets to an item that has none. Sigil of Withdrawal ("Sigil of Withdrawal" quest) removes socketed gems in a smithing table, and the item and gems are all returned. Sigil of Unnaming has its own quest as well: "Sigil of Unnaming" quest.[1][3][7]

Upgrade your gems

The Gem Cutting Table upgrades gems with Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same purity. The Gem Case ("Gem Case" quest) stores gems and can upgrade them directly, which makes the cutting table obsolete. The cutting table is also an ingredient in the in-pack Gem Case recipe, so build the table first.[3][9][11][12]

Later: Reforging Table and Augmenting Table

To reforge Epic items or higher, upgrade your Simple Reforging Table into the Reforging Table ("Reforging Table" quest). The end-game Augmenting Table ("Augmenting Items" quest) needs Godforged Pearls, which come from salvaging mythic items. It runs on Sigil of Enhancement.[3][4][5][9][10]

How does Apotheosis work?

7 parts

Apotheosis machines are crafting stations. Each one has a few input slots and, for most of them, a special fuel item. Once you know which slot takes what, the whole mod gets much easier to work with. This section walks through those stations, the spawner runes and how World Tiers gate things.[4][5]

Salvaging Table: breaking things down

The Salvaging Table breaks Affix Items down into Rarity Materials. The material depends on the item's rarity. Common items give Mysterious Scrap Metal, uncommon give Timeworn Fabric, rare give Luminous Crystal Shard, epic give Arcane Sands, and mythic give Godforged Pearl.[8][9][10]

It also works on gems, turning them into Gem Dust. Your first dust has to come from crushing gems with an anvil in the world. After you've crushed a few, you can use the Salvaging Table instead.[13]

Reforging Table: rerolling an item

Reforging gives an item brand new affixes, and it isn't limited to items that already have affixes. The table has three input slots. The center slot holds the item. The top-left slot holds Rarity Materials for the rarity you want to reforge with. The bottom-right slot holds Sigil of Rebirth, the fuel for this process.[4][8][9]

Like an Enchanting Table, you get three choices, and none of them is inherently stronger. Each rarity has a base cost of experience, sigils and materials. The extra choice slots charge double and triple that base cost. You just click the choice you want, and you can reforge the same item more than once. The guide also notes that modpacks can change these costs or block reforging at certain rarities.[4]

The Simple Reforging Table only handles items up to Rare. For Epic and above you need to upgrade it into the Reforging Table.[4][9]

Augmenting Table: tuning single affixes

The Augmenting Table is an end-game station for upgrading or rerolling one affix while leaving the rest of the item alone. The upper input slot holds the affix item. The lower slot holds Sigil of Enhancement, its fuel. Then you pick the affix you want from a drop-down menu. The guide suggests augmenting items of at least Mythic rarity, though Epic ones are worth considering too.[5][8]

  • Upgrade: costs two Sigils of Enhancement and raises the internal strength of the chosen affix by 25%. How much that helps depends on the affix.[5]
  • Reroll: costs one Sigil of Enhancement and swaps the chosen affix for another of the same type. The alternatives are shown on the left.[5]

Gems, sockets and the Gem Case

The Gem Cutting Table upgrades gems. An upgrade usually costs Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same purity. Purity runs from Cracked to Perfect, and a Perfect gem can't be upgraded any further. Higher purities cost more, and you can see the exact cost in JEI.[7][11]

The Gem Case is gem storage that holds up to thirty two thousand gems of each type and purity, and it can be upgraded to hold more. It has a name filter and an item filter, and six auxiliary slots for upgrade materials. With enough materials and gems inside, you can upgrade gems right in the case, which makes the Gem Cutting Table obsolete. A Supreme Gem Case with a storage capacity of two billion exists too, but it can't be crafted directly and has to be made with Infusion Enchanting.[12]

To socket a gem, combine the item and the gem in a Smithing Table. Each gem states which items it fits, and some gems are Unique, so only one copy can go in an item. Removing gems takes a Sigil of Withdrawal in a smithing table, and the item and all gems are returned.[7]

If an item has no socket, Sigil of Socketing adds one. Sigil of Unnaming strips the affix name from an item.[8][9]

Tip: Don't build a gem farm. Gems drop more often for real players and have only a very small chance to drop from machines or other automation.[7]

Spawner runes

The Spawner Module lets you move and modify Mob Spawners. The modifiers are runes, and each one does one job. The pack changes many of the rune recipes compared with the mod's defaults, so check the recipe in JEI instead of relying on other guides.[9][14]

There are also upgrade runes. Frontiersman's Spawner Upgrade Rune slightly improves a spawner and Wayfarer's Spawner Upgrade Rune improves it. Thundering Spawner Upgrade Rune brings it to its maximum potential.[8][9]

World Tiers and enchanting

World Tiers are a per-player setting: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. They control what content appears, how strong enemies are, the rarity drop weights and which gems and purities can spawn. Unlocking a tier is done through advancements, and you then have to activate it with the Activate button on the select screen (CTRL+T by default). In multiplayer, most content uses the tier of the closest player.[15][16][17]

The default unlock requirements are listed in the guide, but modpacks may change them. Check the Apothic World Tiers advancements tab for this pack's real requirements.[17]

Enchanting gets its own stats on top of levels. Each point of Eterna raises the maximum enchanting level by two, and the highest level a table can reach is 100. Infusion Enchanting is a crafting method that runs through the enchanting table. Each recipe has one item input and three stat requirements, and you place the item and click the third slot once the stats match. The Enchantment Library stores enchantments from books, with a standard Level Capacity of sixteen.[18][19][20][21]

Tower structures in this pack

The pack's structure placement config sets the towers to towers.spacing 26, towers.separation 18 and towers.salt 12121818. Every tower variant in the toggle config is switched on: towers.tower_main, towers.tower_leaf, towers.tower_sand and towers.tower_spruce.[22][23]

How do you progress through Apotheosis?

4 parts

Progression in this pack runs on two tracks at once. One is the gear and crafting-station path that the quest book walks you through. The other is the World Tier system, which makes the world harder and the rewards better as you get stronger.[3][15]

The quest path: gearing up

Everything starts with Gem Dust. The quest "Gems" quest asks you to obtain it, and six other quests in the Gearing Up chapter unlock right after it.[3]

  1. Hand in Gem Dust with "Gems" quest to open up the chapter.[3]
  2. Pick off the branches: the Gem Case ("Gem Case" quest), the Simple Reforging Table ("Simple Reforging Table" quest), the Sigil of Unnaming ("Sigil of Unnaming" quest), the Sigil of Withdrawal ("Sigil of Withdrawal" quest), the Sigil of Socketing ("Sigil of Socketing" quest) and the Salvaging Table ("The Salvaging Table" quest).[3]
  3. After the Simple Reforging Table, move on to the Reforging Table and a Sigil of Rebirth for "Reforging Table" quest.[3]
  4. After the Salvaging Table, build the Augmenting Table and a Sigil of Enhancement for "Augmenting Items" quest.[3]
  5. A separate quest, "Enchanting Table of the Raven" quest, asks for a God-Fused Pearl and a Raven Enchanting Table from Apothic Enchanting.[3]

The Salvaging Table quest accepts a salvage material of any rarity. The salvaging recipes are split by affix item rarity: common items give Mysterious Scrap Metal, uncommon give Timeworn Fabric, rare give Luminous Crystal Shard, epic give Arcane Sands and mythic give Godforged Pearl.[3][9]

These are the in-pack recipes for the stations along the way.[9]

Tip: The Augmenting Table is meant for the top of your gear. The in-game guide suggests augmenting items of at least Mythic rarity, and says Epic ones are worth considering too.[5]

World Tiers

There are five World Tiers: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. Each one raises the difficulty and the rewards, and makes higher-rarity items and Invaders more common.[15]

These are the default unlock requirements from the in-game guide, which also notes that modpacks may change them.[17]

  • Haven is enabled by default, but you won't see it until you pick up your first Affix Item.[17]
  • Frontier needs an Affix Item in every armor slot and an Affixed Weapon in either hand.[17]
  • Ascent needs a full set of Uncommon Affix Items including a weapon, plus the slaying of an Apothic Invader.[17]
  • Summit needs a full set of Rare Affix Items and a slain Wither.[17]
  • Pinnacle needs a full set of Epic items and a slain Ender Dragon.[17]

Unlocking a tier doesn't switch it on. Open the World Tier Select screen (CTRL+T by default), click the tier's symbol and press Activate. You can switch tiers whenever you like, and in multiplayer each player can be on a different one.[16]

Enchanting Table levels

  • Level 30 comes the usual way, with fifteen bookshelves.[24]
  • Level 45 means adding Hellshelves, or Seashelves if you'd rather avoid the Nether. Level 60 means infusing and upgrading your shelves.[25]
  • Level 70 needs a Level 60 table and a Deepshelf, made by infusing a Dormant Deepshelf. Level 75 needs Echo Shards from the Ancient City and Sculk collected with Silk Touch.[26]
  • Level 80 means slaying the Warden to craft Sculkshelves.[26]
  • Level 90 needs a Level 80 table and Infused Dragon's Breath. Level 100 needs a Dragon Head from the outer End, and a single Draconic Endshelf does the job.[19]

Spawner runes

If you plan to tinker with spawners, the quest "Spawner Farms" quest in the resource generation chapter asks for a Spawner Chain and a spawner. The pack changed the Spawner Rune recipe, and the runes built on it, including the four upgrade runes, are also pack-changed.[6][9]

How does Apotheosis work with other mods?

3 parts

In this pack, Apotheosis connects to other mods mainly through crafting recipes. Several Apotheosis items are inputs for recipes that produce items from other mods, and the pack also adds machine recipes that use Apotheosis materials. Every recipe below is the pack's version, either changed or added by the pack, not the mod default.[9]

Gate Pearls for Gateways

The Gate Pearl from the Gateways mod can be crafted through the Apotheosis recipes named ascent, summit and pinnacle. The pack has changed these recipes. Each one mixes Apotheosis items with items from elsewhere, and Gem Dust is an input in the ascent, summit and pinnacle recipes alike.[9]

The Enchanting Table of the Raven also has a pack-changed recipe, shown below, and it builds on the Apothic Enchanting Table. The quest "Enchanting Table of the Raven" quest in the gearing up chapter asks for both the God-Fused Pearl and the Raven table.[3][9]

Another pack-added recipe uses the Cognition mod's molecular metamorphosis process to make Primal Essence, shown below. It brings Apotheosis's mythic material together with items like Attuned Stone (Charged) and Awakened Supremium Gemstone.[9]

Tip: The gearing up chapter asks for Gem Dust in "Gems" quest, and several other Apotheosis quests come after it. Gem Dust is also an input for all three Gate Pearl recipes and the Dissolved Potential recipe, so it's worth stocking up.[3][9]

Most of the Apotheosis quests in the gearing up chapter only involve Apotheosis items. Examples are the Gem Case, the Simple Reforging Table and the Salvaging Table. One quest in the resource generation chapter, "Spawner Farms" quest, pairs the Spawner Chain with a vanilla spawner.[3][6]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Apotheosis?

3 parts

Apotheosis shows up in two quest chapters in this pack. Almost all of it is in gearing_up, and there's one extra quest in resource_generation. None of these quests have a title in the quest book, so I'm going by their ids.[3][6]

Chapter: gearing_up

Everything here unlocks from "Gems" quest. It asks you to submit Gem Dust, and it has two prerequisite quests of its own that I can't describe from what I have.[3]

Once that's done, six quests open up at the same time, so you can take them in any order:[3]

Follow-up quests

Two of those quests lead into further ones. Do the Simple Reforging Table quest first and "Reforging Table" quest opens. It asks for a Reforging Table and a Sigil of Rebirth.[3]

Finish the Salvaging Table quest and "Augmenting Items" quest opens. It asks for an Augmenting Table and a Sigil of Enhancement.[3]

The last Apotheosis quest in the chapter is "Enchanting Table of the Raven" quest. It asks for a God-Fused Pearl and an Enchanting Table of the Raven. It comes after a different quest, 3196AA3E6E309B1D, so it isn't on the Gem Dust branch. I can't tell what that earlier quest asks for.[3]

Chapter: resource_generation

This chapter has a single Apotheosis quest, "Spawner Farms" quest. It asks for a Spawner Chain and a Spawner. The sources don't list any prerequisites for it.[6]

Tip: Most of the gearing_up quests only ask you to hold the item, so you can work through the branches in whatever order suits you. Just start with the Gem Dust quest, because the rest of that branch waits on it.[3]

Which Apotheosis config options matter?

2 parts

The Apotheosis config files this pack sets cover its tower structures: where they are placed and which variants are switched on. Here are the values the pack uses.[22][23]

Tower placement

The placement file holds the layout values for towers. This pack sets the following:[22]

Tower toggles

The toggle file switches individual tower variants on or off. In this pack every tower variant listed there is set to true, so all of them are enabled: towers.tower_main, towers.tower_leaf, towers.tower_sand and towers.tower_spruce.[23]

Tip: If you want to turn off a particular tower type, set its matching option in the toggle file to false.[23]

What changed in Apotheosis between versions?

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Apotheosis 8.7.0 (the Apotheosis-1.21.1-8.7.0.jar file). The mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier, so it's been part of the experience for a long time.[2]

Unverified The notes for what changed between Apotheosis 8.6.0 and 8.7.0 aren't available here, and there are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so specific changes, additions or balance tweaks can't be confirmed. Check the mod's own changelog before relying on any version-specific behavior.

spawners.Spawner Value Chance changed by FTB Skies 2

combat_rules.Negative Armor Factor changed by FTB Skies 2
The factor by which negative armor values will increase incoming damage. Each point of negative armor will increase incoming damage by this factor. A value of 0.015 means that 1 point of negative armor will increase incoming damage by 1.5%. Note: Negative armor is typically only encountered when the attacker has more armor pen than the defender has armor.
config/apotheosis/apothic_attributes.cfg

effects.Ancient Knowledge Multiplier changed by FTB Skies 2
The value (per-level) of the Experience Gained attribute modifier provided by Ancient Knowledge. Synced.
config/apotheosis/apothic_attributes.cfg

general.Hidden Attributes changed by FTB Skies 2
A list of attributes that will be hidden from the Attributes GUI. Client-authoritative. This is useful for attributes that are not meant to be visible to players, such as those used by Apothic Attributes itself. This config supports the following input formats: - ResourceLocation strings, such as minecraft:generic.max_health, used to block specific attributes. - Namespaced wildcards, such as apothic_attributes:*, used to block all attributes in a namespace. - Negation entries, such as !apothic_attributes:elytra_flight, which will un-block a specific attribute that would otherwise be blocked by a wildcard. Note: The list is processed in order. Place negation entries at the end of the list to ensure they take precedence.
config/apotheosis/apothic_attributes.cfg
["neoforge:nametag_distance","neoforge:creative_flight","apothic_attributes:elytra_flight","apothic_attributes:ghost_health"][neoforge:nametag_distance], [neoforge:creative_flight], [apothic_attributes:elytra_flight], [apothic_attributes:ghost_health]
minecraft:aqua_affinity.Forced Level Cap changed by FTB Skies 2
The enforced effective max level of this enchantment. Regardless of NBT and other buffs, this enchantment will never exceed this level. -1 to disable.
