- Apothic Gems!
Apotheosis overhauls exploration and combat by creating a more RPG-like experience. Items and mobs you can find in the world can have special Affixes on them, making them much stronger, and sometimes giving them special abilities to make things even more fun! If you feel lost, you can always refer to the Chronicle of Shadows, which is the guide book for the mod.
- Apothic World Tiers
Apotheosis has a World Tier system that can be accessed by pressing . You start at Haven upon acquiring your first Affix Item, and unlock more tiers as you advance in the mod. Higher tiers increase mob stats and rewards across all dimensions, and reduce your max Eterna cap. These can be viewed in the Tiers menu.
Needs: Apothic Gems! - Understanding Affix items
Before we dive into Apotheosis, we need to cover what an Affix is! An Affix is the driving force behind all Apotheosis gear. Each Affix is very similar to an enchantment, providing a bonus to the item it is attached to. Affix items can be found when exploring the world and their effects vary based on the item's rarity. They are more commonly dropped from Apotheosis boss monsters which can be found in underground caves or have a chance to randomly appear during the night. There are a few different types of Affixes, each affecting a specific part of the item such as: Stats, Effects, Durability, and Gem Sockets, which will be covered in the Gems section.
Needs: Apothic Gems! - Gems
To get started on getting your ultimate Apotheosis gear, you'll need to fight monsters or explore the world for Gems! Gems are crystals that provide powerful bonuses when applied to Affix items. To apply a Gem to an item, you must combine it with the item in a Smithing Table. The item must have an open Gem Socket for this to work. Gems give different bonuses when slotted in different item types, and can be upgraded in the Gem Cutting Table. Unique Gems can only be socketed once per item, while most other gems can be socketed multiple times for stacking bonuses. There are a variety of Apotheosis Gems, which you can get by killing mobs and bosses. Gems can also be crushed by an anvil to create Gem Dust. You can use Gem Dust for a variety of things, but the first thing you'll want to make is a Salvaging Table!
Needs: Apothic World Tiers, Understanding Affix itemsAsks for:Gem Dust
- Gem Case
The Gem Case is used to store and upgrade Gems. It's a direct upgrade to the Gem Cutting Table, which is only used to upgrade gems. Upgrading a Gem costs Gem Dust, rarity materials, and a second Gem of the same rarity. The material and dust cost of upgrading a Gem increases with its rarity. The exact upgrade costs will be shown in the interface.
Needs: GemsAsks for:Gem Case
- Simple Reforging Table
Using the Simple Reforging Table, you can now reforge an item with brand new affixes. Reforging is not limited to items that already have Affixes, and can be performed with any valid item, any number of times. The Simple Reforging Table allows you to reforge items up to Rare rarity. You'll need to upgrade this table if you wish to reforge higher rarity items. Reforging Tables have three input slots: The center slot holds the item you wish to reforge, the top-left slot holds the rarity materials for the rarity you would like to reforge with, and the bottom-right slot holds Sigils of Rebirth, which are used as fuel during reforging. There is a base cost of experience, sigils, and materials for reforges of each rarity, which can be doubled or tripled if choosing the other two options.

- Molecular Metamorpher
A Molecular Metamorpher is a device that uses experience from a bound Obelisk to infuse materials. This can make certain recipes for the mod cheaper, but is also a required method of crafting for some of Cognition's resources. This is further expanded on with a Transforming Focus, converting various vanilla items into niche variants. All xp levels listed in crafting use point values, and will not take any more experience levels than needed. Item slots can also be locked to enable external automation.
Needs: Experience ObeliskAsks for:Molecular Metamorpher,
Transforming Focus
- Foundry Drains
The Foundry Drain can help you extract the metals you are working with onto a Casting Table. Don't do anything yet though, you'll need some Casts before doing that. The Casting Basin can be used to store and create metal blocks. These can be dyed to match your base aesthetics.

This process can be automated with redstone.
Needs: Foundry DrainsAsks for:Ingot Cast
- The Secrets of Enchanting
Apotheosis overhauls the vanilla enchanting system with three new values, allowing for high-level enchants with upgradable progression. You will want to manage these values as you progress through upgrading your enchanting setup: Eterna: The power of the enchanting table, capped based on the tier of your bookshelves as well as your World Tier. This stat determines the maximum level of enchants. Quanta: The chaos inherent when enchanting at higher power. This determines the randomness of enchants. Arcana: The overall quality and quantity of the enchantments. This determines the rarity of enchants, as well as how many enchants are applied per use.
Asks for:Enchanting Table

- Hotswapping Enchantments
Got a lot of random enchanted gear? Using a Tome of Scrapping, you can break it down and extract some of the enchantments from it. The Tome of Extraction will also remove all enchants, but will keep the item from being destroyed, allowing you to remove and replace any number of enchantments on an item at will. If you're looking for a specific enchantment for a specific tool, you can use Tomes which can be crafted to only support a certain class of enchantments.

Needs: The Secrets of EnchantingAsks for:Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability
- Upgraded Shelves
To get to the next upgrade, you want to get your Eterna to 45 by reaching the Frontier World Tier. This can be done with upgraded shelves. The Hellshelf is easier to craft, and focuses on boosting Quanta. Seashelves will require some fishing to get started, but builds up your Arcana values instead.

The centerpiece of a fully completed enchanting setup. The Draconic Endshelf provides no additional stats, but will boost your Eterna by 20, allowing you to hit a max of 100. The Pearlescent Endshelf is the best general-purpose bookshelf, providing significant amounts of both Quanta and Arcana.
Needs: EndshelfAsks for:Draconic Endshelf,
Pearlescent Endshelf

Once you've maximized your Eterna, you'll want to craft the Enchanting Table of the Raven. This enchantment table allows you to manually configure your Eterna, Quanta, and Arcana values without requiring any nearby bookshelves.
Needs: Level 100 EnchantingAsks for:God-Fused Pearl,

- Library of Alexandria
This upgraded version of the Enchantment Library can store enchantments values up to level 31. Please note that the actual enchanted books are still capped at normal pack limits.
Needs: Level 100 EnchantingAsks for:Library of Alexandria
- Precision Dispeller
The vanilla Grindstone strips every enchantment off an item and turns them into XP, though it does not remove curses. Both of these downsides are negated by the Precision Dispeller, which allows the selective stripping of unwanted enchantments and can remove curses at the cost of 30 levels. Binding this device to an Obelisk allows the XP gains and costs to use the Obelisk's storage instead of the player's when able to.
Needs: Cognition: Using your KnowledgeAsks for:Precision Dispeller
- Sigil of Socketing
Sigils of Socketing are used to increase the amount of Gem Sockets of an Affix item.
Needs: GemsAsks for:Sigil of Socketing
- Experience Fountain
Once bound to an Experience Obelisk, an Experience Fountain can be activated with redstone to spill XP from the Obelisk into the world at certain rates. This also happens whenever a player stands on top. Right-clicking a bound Fountain with certain items can infuse them with XP.
Needs: Experience ObeliskAsks for:Experience Fountain
- Glowstone
BEER (Bookshelf Extended Enchanting Reach) allows you to modify the range that enchanting tables scan for bookshelves: Normally, enchanting tables only look for bookshelves in a 5x5x3 area around them. With BEER, you can: • Expand the X and Z width (horizontal range) • Increase the Y height (vertical range) • Use special items to modify these dimensions • Create custom enchanting setups beyond vanilla limits How to Use BEER To modify an enchanting table's range: 1. Hold the modifier item in your main hand 2. Optionally hold a specific item in your offhand (to decrease range) 3. Sneak (Shift) + Right-click on an enchanting table
Needs: The Secrets of EnchantingAsks for:Glowstone,
Lapis Block,
Redstone Block
- Custom Tools with Silent Gear!
Silent Gear is a mod centered around creating custom tools and armor for every step of your playthrough. To get started, you'll need to create the framework for making your own tools and armor. In FTB Skies 2, you can only craft tool parts via the Productive Metalworks Foundry, but some tools can still only be assembled using Templates or Blueprints. Templates are one time use and Blueprints are infinite. To craft a Template Board, you'll need to make a Stone Anvil first. Once you have one, craft yourself a Crude Knife and place some Logs on the anvil. Right-clicking the logs on the table with the Knife will cut them into boards!
Needs: Main Foundry ComponentsAsks for:Blueprint Paper,
Template Board
- Tool Parts
Creating Tool Parts can be confusing at first, so let's break it down! To create a part, you'll first need the metal cast for that part. Using the Tool Rod Blueprint, you can combine it in a crafting table with 2 pieces of a Tool Rod Material to create the part. You can also see all of the recipes by hitting U on the blueprint. To see if a material can be used for a specific part, you can search in JEI for $Material to list out everything in the pack that has a Silent Gear stat attached to it. When hovering over an item that says SGear Material, you can hold Ctrl to see all of the stats for that material, including the part type it can create. Main Materials can create the main part of a tool, like a Pickaxe Head, Sword Blade, etc. There are other special part types like Tip Upgrades or Coatings, but for now, let's create an Iron Tool Rod with our blueprint. In a crafting table, you can place in a Silent Gear tool with the new tool rod to replace the part. Iron Tool Rods act like magnets!
Needs: Custom Tools with Silent Gear! - Shield BlueprintNeeds: Tool PartsAsks for:
Shield Cast,
Shield Blueprint
- Crossbow BlueprintNeeds: Tool PartsAsks for:
Crossbow Cast,
Crossbow Blueprint
- Grading Materials
You can increase any material's stats by grading them in the Material Grader. To do this, place in a material you would like to upgrade as well as a Grading Catalyst. The better the Catalyst used, the higher the chance for a better material Grade. Don't like the grade you get? Run it back through! Ranks of Grades: E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS, and MAX.
Needs: Tool PartsAsks for:Blazing Dust,
Glittery Dust,

Needs: Tool PartsAsks for:Lining Blueprint
- Mace BlueprintNeeds: Tool PartsAsks for:
Mace Blueprint
- The Power of the Stars
The Starlight Charger uses the power of the Night to enchant materials with the Star Charged enchantment. This enchant grants a huge buff to the stats of the material. To use this, you'll need to build out 4 Pillars around the Starlight Charger to get it to work, as well as using a Charger Catalyst for each material you want to enchant. The Pillars of the Charger are built in the corners of a 7x7 square area centered around the Starlight Charger. They are 3 blocks tall, with the top block requiring a specific Pillar Cap. The other 2 blocks can be anything you'd like! The Pillar Cap blocks determine the tier of the Charger, which determines which Catalyst you can use. - Crimson Steel Block | Tier 1 - Azure Electrum Block | Tier 2 - Tyrian Steel Block | Tier 3
Needs: Tool PartsAsks for:Azure Silver Dust,
Blaze Gold Dust,
Starlight Charger,
Starmetal Dust

Bow Cast,
Bow Blueprint
- Part Properties
SGear materials come with specific Properties that determine the stats of an item, like durability, attack damage, and more. One of the unique properties of a material is the Enchantment value. This determines what enchants and level of enchants the tool can get when using an Enchanting Table.
Needs: Tool Parts - The Metal of the End
Azure Silver can be obtained through advanced general-use "Ore Generators" and is further renewed via bees. This ore requires a harvest tier of Netherite to mine. The metal is mostly used to craft Azure Electrum Ingots.
Needs: Tool PartsAsks for:Azure Silver Ingot
- Custom Gems
The Recrystallizer allows you to combine Gems together to make custom gems!
Needs: The Metal of the EndAsks for:Recrystallizer
- The Metal of the Nether
Crimson Iron Ore can be obtained from advanced general-use "Ore Generators" and is further renewed via bees. While it has decent stats, a Crimson Iron Tip Upgrade can grant a tool Auto-Smelt! This is also used to craft a much stronger alloy called Crimson Steel.
Needs: Tool PartsAsks for:Crimson Iron Ingot
- The Metal of the Gods
Uru Metal is a powerful late-game metal alloyed from 6 other metals in a Foundry. To cast a part out of it, forge the part using Tyrian Steel first, then pour Molten Uru Metal over that part on a Casting Table. The old part is consumed and turns into Uru Metal. It costs 90mB per material the part is built from, so a shovel head runs 90mB and a pickaxe head costs 270mB. A part with anything but Tyrian Steel in it won't take the upgrade.
Needs: The Metal of the End, The Metal of the NetherAsks for:Uru Metal Ingot
- Creating Custom Alloys
Once you've made some Crimson Steel, you can start combining metals together in an Alloy Forge. This machine can combine any combination of main materials together to create stronger Alloys. While you can create your own custom alloys, this is also how you make Tyrian Steel Ingots. Custom alloys are the one thing the Foundry can't take. There's no molten form of a mix, so they never get a casting recipe. Craft them by hand instead. An Alloy Ingot goes straight into a crafting table with the blueprint for the part you want, and the usual metal restriction doesn't apply to it. Each part wants an exact count: 1 for a shovel or knife, 2 for a hoe or sword, 3 for a pickaxe or axe, up to 8 for a chestplate. If a part won't craft, you're short on ingots.
Needs: The Metal of the NetherAsks for:Alloy Forge
- All About Traits
You might have noticed that specific materials come with certain Traits attached to it, like how the Iron Tool Rod acts as a magnet! When crafting tool parts, materials will add these Traits that act as either small boosts or passive abilities. Most Traits will describe what they do in the tooltip as well. A great way to add special traits to your pickaxe is by making a Tip Upgrade. This adds an extra part to the tool to give it more stats or traits, while allowing the tool to still be repaired using the same material type it is made out of. For example, if you install a Diamond Tip Upgrade to an Iron pickaxe, it will increase its mining level and allow it to mine Obsidian while only needing Iron to repair it.
Needs: Tool PartsAsks for:Tip Cast,
Tip Blueprint

It has two different uses: Firstly, it can upgrade an existing Affix, costing two Sigils of Enhancement to upgrade the Affix by 25%. How much of a boost this provides varies per Affix. Secondly, it can reroll an Affix, costing one Sigil of Enhancement to swap out a selected Affix for another of the same type. The alternative options will be shown on the left. The Augmenting Table has two input slots. The upper slot holds the item you wish to Augment, which must be an Affix item. The lower slot holds the Sigils of Enhancement used for Augmenting.

Just like tools, you can make custom armor as well with Silent Gear. Don't have enough Iron in the early game? Make Copper Armor instead! Keep an eye out for special traits for armor pieces from certain materials. It's easy to add self repair to your gear with the right materials.
Needs: Tool Parts - Infectious XP Generation (Delicious Books)
Cognition has a unique method of XP generation by way of Bibliophages: tiny constructs that steadily break down bookshelves into XP orbs until only Forgotten Dust is left behind. Infected Bookshelves can spread the phages onto other bookshelves, allowing for a single use of a Bibliophage to affect as many connected bookshelves as available. This process can be halted by using a Staff of Attunement on the infected shelf. Special bookshelves made using written books and enchanted books can also be infected, producing more XP value over their decay than regular shelves. A 'nest' for phages can be made if bookshelves are not in ready supply. Fluorescent Agar is made using the dust left behind by decayed bookshelves, and then placed among infected bookshelves to allow phages to convert it into proper Nutrient Agar, which can passively spread phage infection onto the 26 blocks surrounding it if able. This Agar can be broken and picked back up to further enhance it: Insightful Agar will increase the rate of infection and decay. Extravagant Agar will increase the rate of infection and the XP value gained from decay.
