Apothic Enchanting in FTB Skies 2
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships version 1.6.1 · First seen in 1.0.1
Apothic Enchanting is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.22.0, where it is version 1.6.1. A huge extension of the Enchanting system (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)
Stuck? Why it might not be working
- Apothic Enchanting: eterna stops short, and every slot says Limited EnchantabilityTwo separate things cap eterna in All the Mods 10 8.2: your World Tier sets a personal Max Eterna, and each enchanting shelf has its own eterna ceiling, so a wall of one shelf type stalls below 100 whatever your tier. "Limited Enchantability" is a different problem: it means the table had no enchantment to offer that slot, and it is not about the item's enchantability number.Written for other versions than FTB Skies 2 1.24.0 ships. Some steps may no longer match.
- Why arcana is not going upIn All the Mods 10 8.2, Apothic Enchanting 1.6.2, arcana has no ceiling of its own. A wall of vanilla bookshelves gives exactly 0. The item in the slot does not add any: that line was removed in 1.6.1, and this pack ships 1.6.2. A Brass Bookshelf config of 0.25 is a maximum of 25 on the 0 to 100 scale, not a multiplier. Arcana changes which enchantments you roll and how many are guaranteed. It does not raise the level.Checked against the versions in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0.

What is Apothic Enchanting?
1 part
This pack includes Apothic Enchanting 1.6.1. Going by the items its quests ask for, the mod adds a whole family of enchanting bookshelves (like the Hellshelf, Seashelf and Endshelf and their upgraded variants), plus the Enchantment Library, three tomes and the Enchanting Table of the Raven.[1][2]
In the pack's quest book, every Apothic Enchanting quest sits in the "gearing_up" chapter. The quests have no titles, so the only thing to go on is the items each one asks for and which quest it comes after.[2]
Where it sits in the quest book
Four quests hang straight off the same earlier quest in the chapter, and one more chain starts from the Hellshelf and Seashelf quest. Here is the order the items are asked for.[2]
- First level: the Enchantment Library ("Enchantment Library" quest), one of the Tome of Scrapping, Tome of Superior Scrapping or Tome of Extraction ("Hotswapping Enchantments" quest), the Beeshelf, Melonshelf and Stoneshelf ("Miscellaneous Shelves" quest), and the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability ("Stabilizing Your Enchantments" quest).[2]
- Also at that level: the Hellshelf and Seashelf ("Upgraded Shelves" quest). The infused versions, Infused Hellshelf and Infused Seashelf, come right after ("Hellshelf Infusion" quest).[2]
- Three quests branch from the infused shelves: the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration ("Filtering Unwanted Enchants" quest), the Hellshelf of Masterful Sight ("Hellshelf of Masterful Sight" quest), and a Hellshelf upgrade (Blazing Hellshelf or Glowing Hellshelf) together with a Seashelf upgrade (Crystalline Seashelf or Heart-Forged Seashelf) ("Upgraded Shelves" quest).[2]
- After that upgrade quest: the Deepshelf plus one of the Echoing Deepshelf, Echoing Sculkshelf, Soul-Touched Sculkshelf, Soul-Touched Deepshelf or Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures ("Venturing Deeper" quest). Then comes Infused Dragon's Breath (a quest in "Gearing Up").[2]
- The end of the line: the Endshelf ("Endshelf" quest), then the Draconic Endshelf and Pearlescent Endshelf ("Level 100 Enchanting" quest). Two quests follow that one: the God-Fused Pearl with the Enchanting Table of the Raven ("Enchanting Table of the Raven" quest), and the Library of Alexandria ("Library of Alexandria" quest).[2]
Unverified The sources here do not show this mod on an ATM Star quest path, and they do not describe shelf stats, how the libraries and tables work, or any pack changes to this mod's recipes or configs, so none of that is covered in this overview.
How do you get started with Apothic Enchanting?
5 parts
Apothic Enchanting is about building your enchanting setup one step at a time. In this pack, the "gearing_up" quest chapter gives you a handy order to follow, and the recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack recipes.[2][3]
Start with the enchanting table
Begin with the Apothic Enchanting Table. The mod describes it as a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table. The pack changed its recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs.[3][4]

Build your first shelves
Next come the bookshelf variants. One quest, "Miscellaneous Shelves" quest, asks for the Beeshelf, the Melonshelf and the Stoneshelf. Here is the Stoneshelf recipe to get you going.[2][3]

Another quest, "Stabilizing Your Enchantments" quest, asks for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability, which has its own recipe.[2][3]
Hellshelf and Seashelf, then infuse them
The quest "Upgraded Shelves" quest asks for the Hellshelf and the Seashelf.[2][3]

The next quest in that line, "Hellshelf Infusion" quest, asks for the Infused Hellshelf and the Infused Seashelf. Each one is made from its plain shelf by an infusion recipe.[2][3]

Enchantment Library and scrap tomes
The Enchantment Library has its own quest, "Enchantment Library" quest. Its recipe accepts any shelf from the infused shelves group, so the infused shelves from the step above are a natural fit.[2][3]

The Tome of Scrapping can be infused into the Tome of Superior Scrapping, which can be infused into the Tome of Extraction. The quest "Hotswapping Enchantments" quest accepts any one of the three.[2][3]
Where the chapter goes from here
After the infused shelves, the chapter asks for upgraded Hellshelves and Seashelves, then the Deepshelf and one of its variants. After that you make Infused Dragon's Breath, which leads to the Endshelf, and then the Draconic Endshelf and Pearlescent Endshelf.[2][3]
The last quests ask for the Enchanting Table of the Raven and the Library of Alexandria. The Raven table allows manually customizing the core enchanting stats, and the pack changed its recipe too. The Library of Alexandria is made by infusing an Enchantment Library.[2][3][4]

How does Apothic Enchanting work?
7 parts
Apothic Enchanting is all about the enchanting table. The sources here cover the table, its shelves, the library, tomes and a few support items. They don't describe any power, fluid or multiblock systems, so this section sticks to what they do confirm.[3][4]
The enchanting table and its stats
Enchanting tables can now go past level 30, and some enchantments only show up beyond that point. The table is driven by three stats: Eterna, Arcana and Quanta.[4]
- Eterna sets the maximum enchanting level. The mod also has a cap on how much Eterna you can use in an enchanting table.[4]
- Arcana makes rare enchantments more common and increases the number of enchantments you get.[4]
- Quanta increases the underlying randomness. Its tooltip also says it lessens the negative effects.[4]
Some shelves are described as providing Quantic Stability. Two advancements play with this: one asks you to enchant at max Eterna and max Arcana with 0% Quanta, and another asks for max stats together with Quantic Stability.[4]
The table also has an info screen listing the available enchantments. It can show enchanting clues, and some entries display requirements as a minimum, a maximum or an exact value for Eterna or a percentage stat. When the conditions aren't met for an infusion, you get the message that the infusion criteria are not met.[4]
Table variants
The Apothic Enchanting Table is a cosmetic variant of the regular Enchanting Table. The pack changed its recipe, so use the one below rather than any default you remember.[3][4]

Shelves around the table are how you push its stats up. The starting point is the Basic Bookshelf.[3]

The Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration is the one shelf with an interactive mechanic in the sources. You insert enchanted books into it to stop them from appearing in the table, and it gains Eterna and Arcana based on how many books you put in.[3][4]

Recipe id: apothic_enchanting:filtering_shelf
Most of the other shelves are upgrades of an earlier shelf, and the recipes show the chain. The sources don't give the stat values each shelf provides, so I'm not listing them here.[3]
- Nether line: you get an Infused Hellshelf through Infusion Enchanting, and an advancement asks you to upgrade it. The Blazing Hellshelf and Glowing Hellshelf are the upgraded shelves, and the plain Hellshelf sits at the bottom of the line.[3][4]
- Sea line: the Infused Seashelf is also obtained through Infusion Enchanting. It is the base for the Crystalline Seashelf, the Heart-Forged Seashelf and the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration.[3][4]
- End line: an advancement asks you to acquire Infused Dragon's Breath and create an Endshelf, and another asks you to upgrade it into a Draconic Endshelf.[4]
- Deep line: an advancement asks you to activate a Dormant Deepshelf. The Deepshelf leads to the Echoing Deepshelf and then the Echoing Sculkshelf, and another advancement has you create a Sculkshelf using a Warden Tendril.[3][4]

Enchantment Library
The Enchantment Library is a block that stores enchantments. Insert an enchanted book to deposit it. Left-click a stored enchantment to extract one level of it, or shift-click to extract the maximum level available.[3][4]
Its tooltip shows how many enchantments it is storing, the points stored out of its capacity, and the max level currently available. If the next level can't be extracted, it says the next level is unavailable.[4]

Tomes
Tomes are filtered enchanting items. Each one accepts enchantments for a specific gear type: Tome of Helmets, Tome of Chestplates, Tome of Legplates, Tome of Boots, Tome of the Archers, Tome of the Fishers and Tome of the Others for miscellaneous enchantments.[3][4]
The mod also has tomes that pull enchantments off items. The extraction tome takes all enchantments and does not destroy the item. The improved scrap tome takes all enchantments but destroys the item. The plain scrap tome takes only half of them and destroys the item.[4]
Ender Leads
The Flimsy Ender Lead can capture and move animals. The full Ender Lead handles most entities, and the Occult Ender Lead can also bind them to mob spawners. The pack changed the flimsy lead's recipe.[3][4]

Altar of the Seas
An advancement describes an Altar of the Seas that turns unwanted enchanted items into a new book. The sources don't explain how to build it, so check the advancement in game.[4]
Unverified Automation (hoppers, pipes or other item I/O on the library or filtering shelf), exact stat values per shelf, and the Altar of the Seas structure aren't covered by the sources I have. The pack also has no config files for this mod to check.
How do you progress through Apothic Enchanting?
4 parts
In this pack, Apothic Enchanting progression is laid out in the gearing_up quest chapter. The quests have no titles, and every task is to get a certain item. Together they form a tree that takes you from basic shelves to the End-tier shelves and the Library of Alexandria.[2]
Starting branch
Five quests unlock at the same time from one shared parent quest, so you can tackle them in any order.[2]
- "Enchantment Library" quest asks for the Enchantment Library.[2]
- "Hotswapping Enchantments" quest accepts any one of Tome of Scrapping, Tome of Superior Scrapping or Tome of Extraction.[2]
- "Miscellaneous Shelves" quest wants the Beeshelf, the Melonshelf and the Stoneshelf.[2]
- "Stabilizing Your Enchantments" quest wants the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[2]
- "Upgraded Shelves" quest wants the Hellshelf and the Seashelf. This one leads on to the main shelf line below.[2]
The pack changes the recipe for the Apothic Enchanting Table, so check the one below rather than relying on what you remember from the mod.[3]

Infused shelves and their upgrades
After the Hellshelf and Seashelf quest, "Hellshelf Infusion" quest asks you to infuse both, giving you the Infused Hellshelf and the Infused Seashelf. Each of these is made from its plain shelf through an infusion recipe.[2][3]

- "Hellshelf of Masterful Sight" quest asks for the Hellshelf of Masterful Sight. The pack changes this recipe.[2][3]
- "Upgraded Shelves" quest asks for one Hellshelf upgrade (Blazing Hellshelf or Glowing Hellshelf) and one Seashelf upgrade (Crystalline Seashelf or Heart-Forged Seashelf). This is the quest that carries you onward.[2]

Deepshelves and the End
From here the quests form one straight line. Follow the order below.[2]
- "Venturing Deeper" quest: get the Deepshelf plus one of its upgrades. The accepted upgrades are Echoing Deepshelf, Echoing Sculkshelf, Soul-Touched Sculkshelf, Soul-Touched Deepshelf or Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures.[2]
- a quest in "Gearing Up": get the Infused Dragon's Breath.[2]
- "Endshelf" quest: get the Endshelf.[2]
- "Level 100 Enchanting" quest: get both the Draconic Endshelf and the Pearlescent Endshelf.[2]
The Deepshelf comes from infusing a Dormant Deepshelf, and the Infused Dragon's Breath comes from infusing regular dragon breath.[3]

How does Apothic Enchanting work with other mods?
4 parts
Several recipes in this pack connect Apothic Enchanting with Apotheosis and with a few other mods. Most of them are marked as changed by the pack, so they may not match the mod's defaults.[3]
Apotheosis recipes that use Apothic Enchanting items
Two items from this mod, Infused Dragon's Breath and Warden Tendril, show up in the pack's changed Apotheosis recipes. The Gate Pearl needs both of them.[3]

Dimensional Memory Fragment
The Library of Alexandria is also used outside enchanting. The pack adds a PneumaticCraft pressure chamber recipe for the Dimensional Memory Fragment that needs it. The same recipe also takes items from Ender IO, Occultism and Steve's Carts, plus any shard from the RFTools Base shard tag.[3]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Apothic Enchanting?
3 parts
All the quests for this mod sit in one chapter, "gearing_up". The quests have no titles in the pack data, so I refer to them by their IDs. The chapter has two parts: a first batch of quests that unlock together, then a long chain that climbs from the basic shelves up to the End-tier gear.[2]
The first batch
Five quests unlock after the same earlier quest in the chapter, so you can do them in any order. That earlier quest isn't covered by the sources I have.[2]
- "Enchantment Library" quest asks for the Enchantment Library.[2]
- "Hotswapping Enchantments" quest accepts any one of three tomes: the Tome of Scrapping, the Tome of Superior Scrapping or the Tome of Extraction.[2]
- "Miscellaneous Shelves" quest asks for three shelves: the Beeshelf, the Melonshelf and the Stoneshelf.[2]
- "Stabilizing Your Enchantments" quest asks for the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability.[2]
- "Upgraded Shelves" quest asks for the Hellshelf and the Seashelf. This one starts the long chain below.[2]
The shelf chain
After the Hellshelf and Seashelf quest, the chapter follows the order below. Where a quest lists several options, the sources show them as alternatives, so you need one from each group.[2]
- "Hellshelf Infusion" quest asks for the Infused Hellshelf and the Infused Seashelf.[2]
- Three quests branch off the previous one. "Filtering Unwanted Enchants" quest asks for the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration. "Hellshelf of Masterful Sight" quest asks for the Hellshelf of Masterful Sight. "Upgraded Shelves" quest asks for either the Blazing Hellshelf or the Glowing Hellshelf, plus either the Crystalline Seashelf or the Heart-Forged Seashelf.[2]
- "Venturing Deeper" quest follows the Blazing/Glowing and Crystal/Heart quest. It asks for the Deepshelf plus one of the Echoing Deepshelf, Echoing Sculkshelf, Soul-Touched Sculkshelf, Soul-Touched Deepshelf or Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures.[2]
- a quest in "Gearing Up" asks for the Infused Dragon's Breath.[2]
- "Endshelf" quest asks for the Endshelf.[2]
- "Level 100 Enchanting" quest asks for the Draconic Endshelf and the Pearlescent Endshelf.[2]
The finish
Two final quests unlock once you finish the Draconic and Pearlescent Endshelf quest, and you can do them in either order. "Enchanting Table of the Raven" quest asks for the God-Fused Pearl and the Enchanting Table of the Raven. "Library of Alexandria" quest asks for the Library of Alexandria.[2]
