What is Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core?

Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core is part of the pack as version 1.0.4. It's the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1, shipped as the file pamhc2foodcore-NEOFORGE-1.21.1-1.0.4.jar.[1]

It isn't a new addition. It was first included in All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier, so it has been in the pack for a good while.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm what this mod adds in the pack, such as its items, recipes or config options, so I'm not describing its features here. The same goes for who it's best suited to and where it fits in progression. It also doesn't appear on the ATM Star path, and no quests in the pack involve it.

How do you get started with Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Food Core is the kitchen side of Pam's HarvestCraft: the cooked dishes and the basic ingredients they are built from. Almost every recipe here is a shapeless crafting recipe, and most of them also ask for a kitchen tool from a tool tag, such as a pot, saucepan, mixing bowl, cutting board, skillet, bakeware or juicer. So before you start, look at each recipe to see which tool type it wants.[2]

First: Butter and cheese

Start with the basics, because other dishes are built on top of them. Butter is one of the simplest recipes in the mod, and it is used by the buttered baked potato later on.[2]

This is a plain mod recipe that uses a pot-type tool.

Next is Cheese. The pack changed this recipe, so go by the one shown here and not by the standalone mod.[2]

Crafting Shapeless

  • any tool pot
  • any milk
  • any salt

Recipe id: pamhc2foodcore:cheeseitem

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version.

Next: Batter and cooking oil

Batter is the base for muffins, cakes, cheese cake and donuts, so make it early.[2]

2× BatterMod recipe

  • any tool mixingbowl
  • any flour
  • any milk
  • any egg

Recipe id: pamhc2foodcore:batteritem_x2

Batter goes into the apple, caramel, carrot and chocolate muffins, and into several cakes and donuts.

Donuts also need Cooking Oil. This recipe is registered under the crops half of Pam's, and the pack changed it. It is crafted with a roller-type tool.[2]

The pack changed this recipe, and it needs a tool from the roller tag.

Then: Sweet building blocks

Caramel is used in caramel apples, donuts, muffins, pies, yogurt and ice cream. Chocolate Bar is used in chocolate cake, chocolate bacon and chocolate caramel fudge. Both use a saucepan-type tool.[2]

Crafting Shapeless

  • any tool saucepan
  • any sugar
  • any milk

Caramel is an ingredient in several of the sweet dishes above.

Chocolate BarMod recipe

Crafting Shapeless

  • any tool saucepan
  • any cocoabean crops

Recipe id: pamhc2foodcore:chocolatebaritem

Chocolate bars are needed for the chocolate cake and the fudge.

Finally: Your first real meals

With those ready, try something simple. Boiled Egg needs only a pot-type tool and an egg-tagged item. Basic Hamburger and the other basic sandwiches, like the chicken or fish versions, all follow the same pattern and use a skillet-type tool.[2]

Tip: Several recipes were changed by the pack, including cheese, beef jerky, chicken jerky, the buttered baked potato and cooking oil. Check the recipe shown for the pack rather than relying on the standalone mod.[2]

How does Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core work?

3 parts

Here's the thing to know before you go looking for machines: in the recipes I can see for Food Core, there aren't any. Every recipe shown is a shapeless crafting recipe, so you cook in a normal crafting grid. Nothing in the sources describes power, fluids, multiblocks or automation for this mod. The sources don't show the rest of the mod, so I can't say it has none.[3]

Kitchen tools and tags

The mechanic that matters is the kitchen tool. Almost every recipe I can see includes one tool-tag ingredient, such as a pot, saucepan, cutting board, juicer, bakeware, mixing bowl or skillet. A recipe asks for any item in the tag, not one specific item, so any item carrying the right tag will work.[3]

Food ingredients work the same way. Recipes ask for things like any bread, any cheese, any vegetable, any egg or any milk instead of one fixed item. That makes the mod flexible with other food mods in the pack, though the sources don't list which items belong to each tag.[3]

The sources don't say whether a tool is used up or damaged when you craft with it.[3]

Chaining recipes together

Many dishes build on other dishes, so you work in steps. One chain runs from Apple Juice to Apple Jelly to Apple Jelly Toast, and the recipes below show each step.[3]

Cooking oil is changed in this pack

Cooking Oil is one thing the pack has changed. Its recipe is marked as pack-modified, and it comes from the crops mod's own recipe, not the Food Core namespace. It is made from canola with a roller tool, so you'll want that tool before you start on dishes that need oil, like Apple Donut.[3]

Tip: Check each recipe for its tool tag before you start cooking. Basic Hamburger and Basic Veggie Burger each use a skillet tag, Boiled Egg uses a pot tag and Apple Pie uses a bakeware tag. The recipes below show each one.[3]

How do you progress through Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core?

4 parts

Unverified The sources here show no quests in this pack that involve this mod, and it is not on the ATM Star quest path, so the pack's quest book gives no tier order for it.

Because there is no quest order to follow, the stages below are a suggested order based on how the in-pack recipes depend on each other. They are not official tiers.[3]

Every recipe I can see for this mod is a shapeless crafting recipe, and each one asks for a kitchen tool of some kind. The tools show up as tags: pot, saucepan, cutting board, mixing bowl, bakeware, skillet, juicer, grinder and roller. So your first step is to get hold of the tool types you need. The recipe list I was given is partial, so I can't tell you here how the tools themselves are made.[3]

First: dairy and cooking oil

Start with the basics that later dishes build on. Butter and Cheese both need a pot, while Cream needs a mixing bowl.[3]

Cooking Oil has a pack-specific twist. The canola recipe comes from the crops mod and is marked as changed by the pack. It uses a roller tool. The mod's own recipes for making oil from nuts or from vegetables also use a roller.[3]

This canola oil recipe is changed by the pack and uses a roller tool.

Next: doughs, batters and sweet bases

Next come the building blocks for baking and frying. Dough and Batter are both made at a mixing bowl. Pies use dough, while cakes, muffins and donuts use batter.[3]

  • any tool mixingbowl
  • any flour
  • any water

2× BatterMod recipe

  • any flour
  • any milk
  • any egg

Recipe id: pamhc2foodcore:batteritem_x2

Sweet bases are in this stage too. Caramel uses a saucepan, Chocolate Bar uses a saucepan, Cocoa Powder uses a grinder and Cracker uses bakeware.[3]

Then: finished dishes

Once the bases are in your storage, the finished foods open up. Donuts such as Apple Donut are made in a pot. Muffins such as Apple Muffin and pies such as Apple Pie use bakeware. Burgers and sandwiches such as Basic Hamburger use a skillet. Drinks such as Apple Juice use a juicer.[3]

Many flavours follow the same pattern, with the flavour swapped in. Apple, caramel, chocolate and chorus versions of donuts, muffins and pies are all crafted the same way. Chorus dishes such as Chorus Donut use chorus fruit where the apple versions use apples.[3]

Last: dishes built from other dishes

The top of the chain is food made from other finished food. Get Fried Chicken and Mashed Potatoes ready first, then craft Chicken Dinner at a cutting board. The recipe is shown below.[3]

How does Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core work with other mods?

5 parts

Food Core connects to other mods in the pack through crafting recipes. Everything below comes from in-pack recipes. Some are the pack's own additions or changes, and some are the mod's normal recipes.[3]

Creative Blaze Cake (Create)

The pack adds a Mechanical Crafting recipe for Creative Blaze Cake that gathers cakes from several mods. Food Core supplies Carrot Cake, Cheese Cake, Chocolate Cake and Pumpkin Cheese Cake. The recipe also takes cakes from Food Extended and from Create add-ons, plus an ATM Star.[3]

Added by the pack and crafted with Create's mechanical crafting.

Cooking Oil and torches

The pack changes how Cooking Oil is made. It is a shapeless recipe built around Canola and a tool from the roller tool tag.[3]

Mixing Bowls from modded wood

The pack adds sawmill woodcutting recipes that turn modded logs and wood into the Mixing Bowl. Each wood type has its own recipe, and it accepts that tree's log, wood and, where the tree has them, stripped variants. Wood from Productive Trees, Biomes We've Gone, Regions Unexplored, Deeper Darker, Forbidden Arcanus, Integrated Dynamics and EvilCraft is covered. Examples are Peach Log, Sakura Log, Echo Log, Menril Log, Undead Log and Fungyss Stem.[3]

Food Extended meals

Many Food Extended recipes are built from Food Core dishes such as Fried Chicken, Fries and Hot Dog. These are the mod's own recipes, not pack changes. Many of them also ask for a kitchen tool or a common tag such as sodas, cheese or bread, so matching items from other mods can fill those slots.[3]

What changed in Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core between versions?

All the Mods 10 4.11 ships Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core 1.0.4. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier, and the pack changelogs track it version by version. Here's the trail of updates.[1]

  • All the Mods 10 2.33: the changelog lists the mod as 1.0.0 -> 1.0.0, so the entry shows no version number change.[4]
  • All the Mods 10 4.0: updated from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1.[5]
  • All the Mods 10 4.1: updated from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 4.7: updated from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 4.11: ships version 1.0.4 (the NeoForge 1.21.1 build of the mod).[1]

The pack changelogs only record the version bumps, not what changed inside the mod. The step from 1.0.3 to 1.0.4 isn't covered by the changelogs I have either.[1][4][5][6][7]

Unverified The mod's own changelogs for these versions aren't available, so what each update added, fixed or changed (recipes, items, balance) is unverified.
