Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 1.0.4. Adds 180ish new foods based on vanilla Minecraft ingredients, including all new textures Jan 2024 for everything to feel better with Vanilla textures! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core?

This pack includes Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core at version 1.0.4, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack and not a recent addition.[1]

The name suggests a foundation mod for Pam's HarvestCraft food content, but I can't confirm exactly what it adds in this pack from the sources I have.[1]

Unverified The sources don't describe the mod's features, items, recipes or configs, so none are listed here. There is no in-jar guidebook to draw from either. Check in-game, for example with a recipe viewer, before relying on any specific item or mechanic. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Unverified As far as ForgeBase's data shows, this mod is not on the ATM Star quest path and no quests in this pack involve it. Don't expect it to gate progression or show up in quest rewards.

How do you get started with Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core?

4 parts

Food Core is the kitchen side of Pam's HarvestCraft: the cooked dishes and the basic ingredients they are built from. Almost every recipe here is a shapeless crafting recipe, and most of them also ask for a kitchen tool from a tool tag, such as a pot, saucepan, mixing bowl, cutting board, skillet, bakeware or juicer. So before you start, look at each recipe to see which tool type it wants.[2]

First: Butter and cheese

Start with the basics, because other dishes are built on top of them. Butter is one of the simplest recipes in the mod, and it is used by the buttered baked potato later on.[2]

This is a plain mod recipe that uses a pot-type tool.

Next is Cheese. The pack changed this recipe, so go by the one shown here and not by the standalone mod.[2]

Next: Batter and cooking oil

Batter is the base for muffins, cakes, cheese cake and donuts, so make it early.[2]

Batter goes into the apple, caramel, carrot and chocolate muffins, and into several cakes and donuts.

Donuts also need Cooking Oil. This recipe is registered under the crops half of Pam's, and the pack changed it. It is crafted with a roller-type tool.[2]

Then: Sweet building blocks

Caramel is used in caramel apples, donuts, muffins, pies, yogurt and ice cream. Chocolate Bar is used in chocolate cake, chocolate bacon and chocolate caramel fudge. Both use a saucepan-type tool.[2]

Chocolate bars are needed for the chocolate cake and the fudge.

Finally: Your first real meals

With those ready, try something simple. Boiled Egg needs only a pot-type tool and an egg-tagged item. Basic Hamburger and the other basic sandwiches, like the chicken or fish versions, all follow the same pattern and use a skillet-type tool.[2]

Tip: Several recipes were changed by the pack, including cheese, beef jerky, chicken jerky, the buttered baked potato and cooking oil. Check the recipe shown for the pack rather than relying on the standalone mod.[2]

How does Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core work?

3 parts

Here's the honest picture for Food Core in this pack: the sources I have only describe crafting recipes. Every recipe shown is a shapeless crafting recipe, and none of them involve a machine, a multiblock, power or fluids. So this section is about how the crafting system works, not about automation.[2]

Tools are part of the recipe

The key mechanic is that Food Core recipes ask for a kitchen tool alongside the food. The tool is matched by a tag rather than one fixed item, so any item in that tag works. The same goes for the food ingredients, which are matched by tags such as bread, cheese, eggs and vegetables.[2]

These are the tool tags that show up in the recipes I can see:[2]

Chaining intermediates

Many dishes use another Food Core item as an ingredient, so you build them in stages. Apple Jelly uses juice, and the toast uses the jelly. Make the intermediate first, then the finished dish.[2]

Batter works the same way. Both Apple Donut and Apple Muffin take batter, and the donut also takes cooking oil.[2]

Where the pack changes things

The recipe dump marks some recipes as changed by the pack, so don't assume the mod's defaults for them. The ones I can confirm are Cooking Oil, Beef Jerky and Buttered Baked Potato. The sources don't say what the originals looked like, only that the pack altered them.[2]

Tip: Because tools and ingredients are matched by tag, you aren't locked to one specific item. Anything in the right tag will do, which makes these recipes flexible.[2]

How do you progress through Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core?

4 parts

Every recipe I can see for Food Core is shapeless crafting, and each one asks for a kitchen tool (pot, saucepan, mixing bowl, cutting board, bakeware, skillet, juicer, grinder or roller) plus ingredients. So your progression is about which intermediate foods you can already make. Here is how I'd break it into stages.[2]

Unverified The sources here show no quests involving this mod, so there is no quest-guided path to follow. The stages below follow the in-pack recipes instead.

First stage: single-ingredient basics

Start with recipes that turn one raw ingredient plus one tool into something useful. Boiled Egg needs an egg and a pot. Butter needs milk and a pot. Cream needs milk and a mixing bowl. Apple Juice needs an apple and a juicer. Cocoa Powder needs cocoa beans and a grinder, while Chocolate Bar needs cocoa beans and a saucepan.[2]

Cooking Oil can be made from nuts or from vegetables using a roller. The pack also changed the canola route for cooking oil, which uses Canola and a roller.[2]

Second stage: pack-adjusted staples

Several staples are recipes the pack changed, so don't assume the mod's defaults apply. Cheese needs salt and milk in a pot. Dough needs salt, flour and water in a mixing bowl. Cracker needs salt and flour with bakeware. The jerkies, Beef Jerky and Chicken Jerky, need salt and raw meat on a cutting board. Buttered Baked Potato is also pack-changed and uses salt too. Salt shows up in all of these, so get a salt supply early.[2]

2× DoughChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

  • any tool mixingbowl
  • any flour
  • any water
  • any salt dust

Recipe id: pamhc2foodcore:doughitem_x2

Dough feeds the pies, pot pies and the chocolate roll later on.

CheeseChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

  • any tool pot
  • any milk
  • any salt dust

Recipe id: pamhc2foodcore:cheeseitem

Batter is the other key base. It uses an egg, flour and milk in a mixing bowl, and it feeds muffins, donuts and cakes.[2]

2× BatterMod recipe

Crafting Shapeless

  • any tool mixingbowl
  • any flour
  • any milk
  • any egg

Recipe id: pamhc2foodcore:batteritem_x2

Third stage: bakes, fried treats and preserves

With Dough, Batter, Cooking Oil and Caramel on hand, the big fruit families open up. Pies take a fruit, dough, sugar and bakeware, as in Apple Pie. Muffins take batter, a fruit and bakeware, as in Apple Muffin. Donuts take batter, cooking oil, a fruit and a pot, as in Apple Donut. The same pattern covers carrot, chocolate and chorus fruit variants.[2]

Juice leads to Apple Jelly (juice, sugar, saucepan), and jelly leads to Apple Jelly Toast on a cutting board. Caramel (milk, sugar, saucepan) opens up Caramel Apple, Caramel Pie and Caramel Muffin.[2]

Final stage: composite meals

The top end combines finished foods. Chicken Dinner needs Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, a vegetable and a cutting board. Crackers and Cheese needs a Cracker and Cheese. Chocolate Caramel Fudge needs Caramel and a Chocolate Bar. Burgers such as Bacon Cheeseburger combine bread, cheese, a condiment, ground beef and raw pork in a skillet. Pot pies like Chicken Pot Pie need dough, carrot, potato, raw chicken and bakeware.[2]

Tip: Build your tool set first, and keep salt, flour, milk and sugar flowing. Many of the later dishes are just Dough, Batter, Caramel or Cheese plus one more ingredient.[2]

How does Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core work with other mods?

4 parts

Food Core doesn't live in a bubble in this pack. The pack's recipes tie it into Create, Productive Bees and Pam's own crops, and there's one fun end-game crossover. There are no quests in this pack that involve the mod, so everything below comes from recipes.[2]

The Creative Blaze Cake

The biggest crossover is a recipe the pack itself adds. The Creative Blaze Cake is made with Create's mechanical crafting. Food Core's cakes go in alongside the Food Extended cakes, cakes from Create and its add-ons, and an ATM Star. If you're after this item, you'll need to bake through the Pam's cake lineup.[2]

Milk from Productive Bees

The pack changed the Productive Bees milk recipe so that a Milk converts into Fresh Milk. That gives you a way to get Fresh Milk for Pam's recipes from the Productive Bees side of the pack.[2]

2× Fresh MilkChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

Cooking oil, torches and sunflower rolls

The pack changed how Cooking Oil is made. You craft it from Canola plus any item from the roller tool tag, so check which tools in your world count as rollers.[2]

4× Cooking OilChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: pamhc2crops:cookingoil_x4_canola_x2

Cooking Oil also has a use outside of cooking. The pack changed the cattail torch recipe so that it takes Cattail and Cooking Oil to make a Torch.[2]

TorchChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: pamhc2crops:torch_cattail

The pack also changed the recipe for Sunflower Wheat Rolls. It uses Sunflower Seeds together with a cooking oil, a salt dust, a flour and a piece of bakeware, each accepted as a tag. That means any matching item from any mod can fill those slots.[2]

Sunflower Wheat RollsChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

Food Core as an ingredient source

Many Food Extended recipes are built on Food Core items such as Fried Chicken, Fries and Basic Hamburger. Those recipes also use common tags for kitchen tools and ingredients, such as cutting boards, skillets, sodas, cheese and bread. Any item carrying the right tag works, so other mods can fill those slots. Poutine is a good example.[2]

Tip: If a Pam's recipe asks for a tool or ingredient shown as a tag, check the recipe viewer. It lists every item from the pack that is accepted for that slot.[2]

What changed in Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core between versions?

1 part

Here's how Pam's HarvestCraft - Food Core has moved through the pack. All the Mods 10 8.1 ships version 1.0.4 (the NeoForge 1.21.1 build), and the mod has been in the pack since 2.25 or earlier.[1]

The changelogs only record version bumps. They don't say what changed inside each update, so there are no feature or balance notes to report here.[3][4][5][6]

Pack updates

  • All the Mods 10 4.0: updated from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 4.1: updated from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2.[5]
  • All the Mods 10 4.7: updated from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3.[4]
  • All the Mods 10 4.11: updated from 1.0.3 to 1.0.4, the version still in 8.1.[1][3]

Unverified What each of these mod updates actually changed is unconfirmed. No changelogs for the shipped jars were available, so any gameplay differences between 1.0.0 and 1.0.4 are unverified.
