What is Iron Jetpacks?
2 parts
Iron Jetpacks adds Forge Energy (FE) powered jetpacks to the pack. The pack runs version 7.0.9, and it was already in the pack by 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[1][2]
The mod comes with a set of default jetpacks made from various vanilla and modded materials, and every jetpack stat is configurable. You get throttle controls to adjust your aerial speed on the fly, plus a built-in HUD that shows your energy, engine, hover and throttle stats. You can also equip a jetpack as a Curio.[1]
Where the quest book puts it
The jetpack quest sits in the "EndGame" chapter, which is in the "Storyline" group and is chapter 7 of 44 in the book. That chapter has 70 quests. The quest is listed as a quest in "EndGame" and asks you to hand in a Jetpack.[3]
- Before it: the quest comes right after "One Small Step" quest, which asks for the Ultimate Ingot from Extended Crafting.[3]
- Beside it: "One Giant Leap" quest also follows "One Small Step" quest, so the jetpack is a side branch off that quest.[3]
- After it: none of the quests shown for this chapter list the jetpack quest as a prerequisite. One quest in the chapter isn't shown in the material I have, so check the quest book for anything past it.[3]
The mod is not on the ATM Star quest path.[3]
A second appearance in the Shop
The jetpack also turns up in the "Shop" chapter, which is chapter 2 of 44. The quest "Creative Flight" quest (Creative Flight) asks for 32 ascended coins plus a Jetpack. Its description says it allows you to fly and needs a lot of levels.[4]
How do you get started with Iron Jetpacks?
6 parts
Iron Jetpacks gives you jetpacks powered by Forge Energy. In this pack you start with a plain wooden one and upgrade it step by step. Here is the order I would go in, and why.[1][5]
First, make a Leather Strap
The pack's entry-level jetpack recipe uses a strap, so start with Leather Strap.[7]

Then a Capacitor and a Thruster
Next come the Capacitor and the Thruster, which appear in the pack's jetpack recipes. Their default recipes are enabled through Recipe.capacitors and Recipe.thrusters. Energy cells (Cell) are enabled the same way through Recipe.cells.[6][7]
Craft the wooden Jetpack
The pack's entry-level jetpack recipe uses planks as its material. That matches the wood jetpack, whose crafting material in its config is planks. It has a capacity of 20,000, a usage of 32 and a tier of 0.[5][7]

Upgrade it tier by tier
After that, the pack has you upgrade by crafting. Each upgrade recipe takes your current Jetpack as an ingredient and gives you the next one. The stone version is the first step up: its capacity is 100,000, its usage is 70 and its tier is 1.[7][8]
The pack has the same kind of recipe for copper, iron, bronze and silver, and the chain keeps going into higher tiers, each with its own config file.[7][9][10][11][12]
The coils
The mod also adds four coils: Basic Coil, Advanced Coil, Elite Coil and Ultimate Coil. They use the mod's own recipes, shown below.[7][13]

Where the quest book puts it
In the quest book, a quest in "EndGame" sits in the EndGame chapter, in the Storyline group, asks you to hand in a jetpack, and comes after "One Small Step" quest. It is also listed before the final quest, a quest in "EndGame". The Shop chapter's Creative Flight quest, "Creative Flight" quest, asks for a jetpack as well as 32 ascended coins.[3][4]
How does Iron Jetpacks work?
4 parts
Iron Jetpacks is a Forge Energy (FE) mod, so every jetpack you fly is an energy storage item that burns power as you move. You get throttle controls to change your aerial speed on the fly, plus a built-in HUD that shows your energy, engine, hover and throttle stats. You can also wear a jetpack as a Curio, and the pack has that switched on.[1][6]
The parts of a jetpack
A jetpack is built from several components: a Capacitor, a Thruster, an Cell, a Leather Strap and the finished Jetpack. Each of these is named after its material tier, such as a Steel Jetpack or an Emerald Energy Cell.[13]
The leather strap is a plain crafting recipe from the mod itself.[7]

The mod also has a coil ladder: Basic Coil, Advanced Coil and Elite Coil, each with its own shaped recipe from the mod below.[7]

The Ultimate Coil is the top of the ladder. It is used in this pack's creative thruster recipe.[13][14]
How crafting works in this pack
The pack changes how jetpacks are made. In Recipe.jetpacks the default jetpack recipes are turned off, while the default recipes for capacitors, cells and thrusters stay on (Recipe.capacitors, Recipe.cells, Recipe.thrusters). The jetpack recipes you actually use are added by the pack's scripts instead.[6][7]
The first pack recipe combines a capacitor, a strap, a thruster and planks into a jetpack.[7]

Higher tiers are upgrades. These pack recipes take an existing jetpack, a capacitor and a thruster, plus an ingot, and give you a jetpack. There are versions for gold, steel and electrum ingots.[7]
Two more pack recipes need two thrusters, an Infinity 1 item and emeralds on top of a capacitor and a jetpack.[7]

Energy and flight stats
Each jetpack tier has its own json file in the Iron Jetpacks config folder, and the pack sets the values in them. Take the steel file as an example: it holds the stored energy (capacity), the energy drain (usage), and flight numbers like vertical speed, vertical acceleration, sideways speed and the hover speeds. It also holds sprint multipliers for fuel use, speed and vertical speed. Item tooltips show Horizontal Speed, Hover Ascend Speed, Hover Descend Speed, Vertical Acceleration, Sprint Fuel Modifier and Sprint Vertical Multiplier.[13][15]
The trade-off is simple: bigger batteries and faster flight cost more power. A Stone Jetpack has a vertical speed of 0.25 and a usage of 70, while a Diamond Jetpack has a vertical speed of 0.9 and a usage of 650. Its sprint fuel multiplier is also higher, 3.8 against 1.[8][16]
Here are the pack's capacity and usage values for every tier.[17]
- Wood (tier 0): capacity 20,000, usage 32.[5]
- Stone (tier 1): capacity 100,000, usage 70.[8]
- Copper (tier 1): capacity 250,000, usage 85.[9]
- Iron (tier 2): capacity 800,000, usage 120.[10]
- Bronze (tier 2): capacity 800,000, usage 120.[11]
- Silver (tier 2): capacity 1,200,000, usage 150.[12]
- Gold (tier 3): capacity 10,000,000, usage 300.[18]
- Electrum (tier 3): capacity 10,000,000, usage 310.[19]
- Invar (tier 3): capacity 12,000,000, usage 350.[20]
- Steel (tier 3): capacity 12,000,000, usage 350.[15]
- Diamond (tier 4): capacity 30,000,000, usage 650.[16]
- Platinum (tier 4): capacity 36,000,000, usage 720.[21]
- Emerald (tier 5): capacity 48,000,000, usage 880.[22]
The creative tier
The creative tier is flagged as creative in its config, with tier -1, capacity 0, usage 0 and a sprint fuel multiplier of 0. It still flies fast, with a vertical speed of 1.03.[17]
In this pack you can craft the creative parts. The creative energy cell, capacitor, thruster and jetpack are all made on an Extended Crafting table with endgame ingredients, and the finished parts feed into one another.[14][23][24][25]

The creative jetpack recipe also wants pre-charged jetpacks from lower tiers. For example it asks for a steel jetpack holding 12,000,000 energy, which matches the steel capacity, and an emerald jetpack holding 48,000,000, which matches the emerald capacity. Charge them up before you craft.[15][22][25]
How do you progress through Iron Jetpacks?
4 parts
Jetpack progression in this pack is a chain of crafts. You build the parts, make a first jetpack, then feed jetpacks back into new recipes until you reach the creative tier. The jetpack recipes in the recipe dump are added by the pack itself.[7]
Parts you need first
The Leather Strap and the four coils use the mod's own recipes. The coils go from Basic Coil to Advanced Coil, Elite Coil and Ultimate Coil.[7]

From first jetpack to upgrades
The pack's entry-level Jetpack recipe is this one:[7]

After that, the pack adds a long run of upgrade recipes. Each one takes an existing jetpack back in, alongside a Capacitor and a Thruster, and the extra material changes from recipe to recipe. The materials that show up include stone, copper, iron, bronze, silver, gold, steel, electrum, invar, diamond and platinum. Here are two examples:[7]
Two of the upgrade recipes go further and ask for Infinity 1, which is also the item of the first Infinity quest in the EndGame chapter. Both use the same recipe shape:[3][7]
Unverified The recipe data shows every upgrade output as a placeholder jetpack name, so the exact order of tiers and which recipe produces which tier cannot be confirmed from the sources here. The pack's jetpack setup lives in the script kubejs/server_scripts/mods_recipes/ironjetpacks/add.js, which the sources here do not show.
The creative tier
The top of the line is a four-step creative chain. All four recipes are added by the pack, are crafted in an Extended Crafting table, and are gated by the numbered Infinity items from the EndGame chapter.[7][14][23][24][25]
- Creative Cell: needs Infinity 9, plus platinum and emerald energy cells.[7][24]
- Creative Thruster: needs Infinity 10, an Ultimate Coil and the creative energy cell.[7][14]
- Creative Capacitor: needs Infinity 11 and the creative energy cell.[7][23]
- Creative Jetpack: needs Infinity 12, the creative capacitor, the creative thruster and a Leather Strap.[7][25]

The creative jetpack recipe also wants lower-tier jetpacks that already hold energy: stone at 100,000, silver at 1,200,000, steel and invar at 12,000,000 each, and emerald at 48,000,000. So you need to have climbed the tiers before you get there.[25]
Where the quests put it
In the EndGame chapter (chapter 7 of 44 in the book, group Storyline), the quest a quest in "EndGame" asks for the jetpack item and comes right after "One Small Step" quest, the quest for The Ultimate Ingot. It is also one of the many quests that must be done before the final quest, a quest in "EndGame".[3]
The Shop chapter (chapter 2 of 44) has a separate quest, "Creative Flight" quest. It asks for 32 ascended coins and a jetpack, and its description says it allows you to fly and needs a lot of levels.[4]
How does Iron Jetpacks work with other mods?
3 parts
Iron Jetpacks is a Forge Energy (FE) based mod, so it can work with other energy mods. It also supports Curios, so you can equip a jetpack as a Curio. In this pack, though, the most interesting connections come from the recipes and quests, which tie the mod into the endgame.[1]
The pack adds recipes for the creative tier of Iron Jetpacks parts. They are all Extended Crafting shaped table recipes that pull in materials from other mods, so they are very much endgame crafts.[7]
Building the creative tier
It starts with the creative Cell. The pack's recipe combines lower-tier platinum and emerald energy cells with The Ultimate Ingot, Crystal Matrix Ingot, Infinity 9 and a lot of shadow, crimson and other materials from Botanical Extra Machinery.[7][24]

Iron Jetpacks as an ingredient elsewhere
A jetpack is also one of the many ingredients in the pack's recipe for the Creative ME Item Cell. That recipe mostly collects creative and endgame items from other mods, so it ties the jetpack line into the wider endgame.[7]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)
Recipe id: ae2:creative_item_cell
The pack also adds two ordinary shaped crafting recipes that turn a jetpack into a jetpack. They use a capacitor, a thruster, a second thruster, Infinity 1 and some Emerald. Both have the same ingredients.[7]
Unverified The recipe dump does not say which jetpack tiers those two recipes take and produce.
In the quest book
In the EndGame chapter (Storyline group), the jetpack quest a quest in "EndGame" asks you to hold an Jetpack. It comes straight after "One Small Step" quest, the quest for The Ultimate Ingot.[3]
Many other EndGame quests ask for items that also appear in the Creative ME Item Cell recipe. Examples are a quest in "EndGame", a quest in "EndGame" and a quest in "EndGame". The creative-item quests, such as a quest in "EndGame" and a quest in "EndGame", come after "The Beginning of the End" quest. The chapter has 70 quests, and the text of 25 of them is only in the quest book.[3][7]
The Shop chapter has one more link. The quest "Creative Flight" quest asks for a jetpack plus ascended coins, and its description says it "Allows you to fly. Needs a lot of levels".[4]
Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Iron Jetpacks?
3 parts
Two quest chapters in the pack ask you for a Jetpack. One is in the Shop, early in the book. The other is in the late-game EndGame chapter.[3][4]
Shop (chapter 2 of 44)
The Shop chapter has 29 quests, and most of them ask you to hand in coins. The jetpack one is "Creative Flight" quest. Its description says it allows you to fly and needs a lot of levels. It has two tasks: hand in 32 Ascended Coin and hand in a Jetpack.[4]
EndGame (Storyline group, chapter 7 of 44)
The EndGame chapter has 70 quests. Here the jetpack quest is a quest in "EndGame", and its only task is to hand in a Jetpack. It comes after "One Small Step" quest, which asks for the Ultimate Ingot from Extended Crafting.[3]
"One Giant Leap" quest (the Avaritia Infinity Catalyst) also comes after that same quest. So the jetpack is a side branch off "One Small Step" quest, not a step on the main line to "The Beginning of the End" quest.[3]
The jetpack quest does lead somewhere. It is one of the many quests listed before a quest in "EndGame", the chapter's final quest, described as the culmination of all your efforts. That quest asks for the AE2 Creative ME Item Cell.[3]
Suggested order
- Start with "Creative Flight" quest in the Shop chapter, which is chapter 2 of the book.[4]
- Later, in the EndGame chapter, finish "One Small Step" quest.[3]
- Then hand in the jetpack for a quest in "EndGame".[3]
- Finally, a quest in "EndGame" needs this jetpack quest done, along with many others.[3]
Which Iron Jetpacks config options matter?
3 parts
Iron Jetpacks is a Forge Energy based jetpack mod, and this pack ships its configs with specific values. Three places matter most: the common config, the client config, and one JSON file per jetpack.[1][6]
Common config
These options live in config/ironjetpacks-common.toml and change how the mod behaves for everyone.[6]
- Recipe.jetpacks is set to false in this pack, so the mod's default jetpack recipes are switched off.[6]
- Recipe.thrusters, Recipe.capacitors and Recipe.cells are all true, so the default recipes for thrusters, capacitors and energy cells stay on.[6]
- General.curiosIntegration is true, so you can equip a jetpack as a Curio.[1][6]
- General.enchantableJetpacks is false, so jetpacks are not enchantable.[6]
Client config: HUD, sounds and particles
The client file is config/ironjetpacks-client.toml. Tooltips, particles and sounds are all enabled: General.advancedTooltips, General.jetpackParticles and General.jetpackSounds are true.[26]
The HUD is on with HUD.enable set to true. HUD.position is 1, which is Middle Left, out of presets 0 to 5 (0 Top Left, 1 Middle Left, 2 Bottom Left, 3 Top Right, 4 Middle Right, 5 Bottom Right). Both HUD.offsetX and HUD.offsetY are 0, and HUD.showOverChat is false.[26]
Per-jetpack stats
Each jetpack has its own file in config/ironjetpacks/jetpacks/, with keys such as capacity, usage, tier, armorPoints and several speed values. The wood and iron files, for example, both have disable set to false and curios set to true.[5][10]
Here is how capacity and usage scale across a few of the tiers:[5][8][10][16][18][22]
- Wood: tier 0, capacity 20,000, usage 32.[5]
- Stone: tier 1, capacity 100,000, usage 70.[8]
- Iron: tier 2, capacity 800,000, usage 120.[10]
- Gold: tier 3, capacity 10,000,000, usage 300.[18]
- Diamond: tier 4, capacity 30,000,000, usage 650.[16]
- Emerald: tier 5, capacity 48,000,000, usage 880.[22]
The other metals fit in around those. Bronze has the same stats as iron: tier 2, capacity 800,000, usage 120. Platinum is tier 4 with capacity 36,000,000 and usage 720. Steel and invar are both tier 3 with capacity 12,000,000 and usage 350.[10][11][15][20][21]
Speed also climbs with tier. For example, speedVertical is 0.18 for wood, 0.41 for iron and 1.03 for emerald.[5][10][22]
What changed in Iron Jetpacks between versions?
1 part
There isn't much version history to cover for this mod. Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Iron Jetpacks at version 7.0.9 for Minecraft 1.20.1. It was first included in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[2][27]
Iron Jetpacks 7.0.9
- The only change listed in the 7.0.9 changelog is that an update checker URL was added.[27]
Unverified Changes to Iron Jetpacks between Project Infinity releases would be listed in the pack's own changelogs. The sources here do not show any entries for this mod, so how it changed from one pack release to the next is unverified.
