What is Industrial Foregoing?

2 parts

Industrial Foregoing is all about automating most of Minecraft's functions, and it really does have a machine for nearly everything. If you want your farms, mob grinding, power and enchanting to run themselves while you go do something else, this is the mod for you.[1]

All the Mods 10 4.5 ships version 1.21-3.6.34 of the mod, and it has been in the pack since 2.25 or earlier.[4]

Getting started in this pack

The pack has its own Industrial Foregoing quest chapter. It opens with the Pity Machine Frame, and from there the early game is all about rubber and plastic.[5]

  1. Build a Pitiful Generator for your first power. It burns fuels like coal, but it's very inefficient and keeps burning even when its buffer is full.[5][6]
  2. Place a Fluid Extractor in front of a log to pull latex out of the wood. Power is optional, but it makes the extractor work faster.[1][5][7]
  3. Collect a Latex Bucket.[5]
  4. Feed latex, water and power into a Latex Processing Unit to make Dry Rubber.[1][5][8]
  5. Turn that rubber into Plastic.[5]
Tip: Getting plastic is one of the most important things in this mod, so it's worth mastering your plastic supply early.[9]

Where it goes from there

Plastic is the big unlock. Once you have it, the chapter branches out into the Mob Slaughter Factory, the Animal Rancher and other animal machines, the Plant Gatherer and Plant Sower, Bioreactor and Biofuel Generator power, the Conveyor Belt and the Dissolution Chamber.[5]

The Dissolution Chamber leads to the Simple Machine Frame. That frame opens up machines like the Hydroponic Bed and Marine Fisher, plus your first Mycelial Generators. The Advanced Machine Frame comes next, once you also have Pink Slime Bucket and Liquid Meat Bucket from the Mob Slaughter Factory line.[5]

Unverified The pack data provided here doesn't confirm whether any Industrial Foregoing items are needed for the ATM Star.

How do you get started with Industrial Foregoing?

2 parts

Industrial Foregoing starts with one goal: turning tree sap into plastic. The mod's own manual calls getting plastic one of the most important things in the mod, so the whole early game builds toward it. You collect latex from logs, process it into Dry Rubber, and then move on to Plastic.[1][9]

The early quest path

The Industrial Foregoing quest chapter in this pack lays out the early game in a clear order. Here's what to make and why.[5]

  1. Craft a Pity Machine Frame for a quest in "?". It's the first quest in the chapter and unlocks the Fluid Extractor, the Pitiful Generator and the transporters. Nearly every early machine uses a pity machine frame in its recipe, so make a few.[5][10]
  2. Make a Fluid Extractor for a quest in "?" and place it in front of a log. It pulls latex out of the wood, turns the log into its stripped variant, and then uses that up until the block disappears. You can point several extractors at the same log, and different logs give different amounts of latex, so check JEI for the rates. Power is optional, but it makes the extractor work faster.[5][7]
  3. Build a Pitiful Generator for a quest in "?". It burns regular fuels like coal. It's very inefficient and keeps burning fuel even when its energy buffer is full, but it gives you the power your first processing machine needs.[1][5][6]
  4. Fill a Latex Bucket for a quest in "?". Then build a Latex Processing Unit for a quest in "?". The Latex Processing Unit uses 750mb of Latex and 500mb of Water to make 1 Dry Rubber.[5][8]
  5. Collect Dry Rubber for a quest in "?", then turn it into Plastic for a quest in "?". The plastic quest is the big hub of the chapter, and most of the machine quests unlock from it.[5]
  6. While you're at it, the Item Transporter and Fluid Transporter from a quest in "?" move items and fluids between inventories that are 1 block away. You need a transporter on both the extraction side and the insertion side.[5][11][12]
Tip: This pack adds its own shortcut for dry rubber: you can craft Dry Rubber from Mystical Agriculture rubber essence. This recipe isn't in the base mod. Dry rubber is also a quest task in the pack's chapter_2_the_star chapter, in a quest in "?", so it's worth stockpiling.[10][13]

Pack-added recipe

Unverified The crafting recipes for the Pity Machine Frame, Fluid Extractor, Pitiful Generator, Latex Processing Unit and Plastic weren't available for this section. Look them up in JEI in-game. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Your first machines after plastic

Once you have plastic, a lot opens up. Many early machine recipes need plastic and a pity machine frame, including the Dissolution Chamber, Bioreactor, Biofuel Generator and Block Breaker.[10]

Make the Dissolution Chamber early, for a quest in "?". It crafts using up to 8 items and/or 1 fluid, and every recipe is shapeless, so ingredient slots don't matter. When a recipe is present, the machine locks its slots so extra items can't get in.[5][14]

The Dissolution Chamber leads to the Simple Machine Frame quest, a quest in "?", and to the addons quest, a quest in "?". Addons improve your machines: range addons widen the working area, and speed, efficiency and processing addons make machines faster or more productive. In this pack, the addon recipes in the Dissolution Chamber use Latex as their fluid, so keep your extractors running.[5][10][15]

For better power, go for a quest in "?". The Bioreactor turns water plus items like seeds, saplings and dyes into Biofuel. Feeding it a variety of items pays off: with only 1 item type it makes 80mb, but with 4 different items each one makes 110mb, for a total of 440mb. The Biofuel Generator burns that Biofuel for 160RF/t and stops using fuel when its internal buffer is full.[5][16][17]

How does Industrial Foregoing work?

9 parts

Industrial Foregoing is all about automating Minecraft's everyday jobs. Mob and animal farming, plant farming, power generation, item and fluid transport and enchanting all get their own machines. Nearly every machine recipe needs plastic, and the in-game manual calls getting plastic one of the most important things to master, so your first goal is a working rubber line.[1][9][10]

Latex and rubber

Place a Fluid Extractor in front of a log and it pulls latex out of the wood. The log is slowly used up: first it turns into its stripped variant, and once that is consumed it disappears. Different logs give different amounts of latex, and JEI shows the rates. You can point several extractors at the same log. Power is optional, but it makes the extractor work faster.[7]

Send that latex into a Latex Processing Unit along with water and power. Each operation uses 750mb of Latex and 500mb of Water to make Dry Rubber.[1][8]

Unverified The manual pages disagree on whether the Latex Processing Unit makes full Dry Rubber or tiny rubber pieces, so check JEI for the exact output in this pack. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

This pack also adds its own extra crafting recipe for Dry Rubber that isn't part of the base mod.[10]

How machines work

Most machines work in cycles. A progress bar fills over a set number of ticks, and then the machine performs an operation and uses power. Machines with a working area show their base area in the tooltip. The tooltip also tells you whether a machine accepts Range addons.[15][19][20]

Some machines can also use fluid from a tank placed directly on top of them. For example, the Enchantment Applicator can take Essence from the tank above it when a job costs more than it has stored.[19][21]

Addons

  • Range grows a machine's working area by 1 per tier. Not every machine accepts it.[15]
  • Speed makes the progress bar advance faster: +1 per tick at Tier 1 and +2 at Tier 2.[15]
  • Efficiency cuts the ticks needed per operation by 10% at Tier 1 and 20% at Tier 2.[15]
  • Processing adds extra operations each time a machine finishes: +1 at Tier 1 and +2 at Tier 2.[15]

Power

The Biofuel Generator burns Biofuel to make 160RF/t. It is efficient: it stops using fuel when its internal buffer is full, so it doesn't waste fuel when it has nowhere to send power.[17]

You make Biofuel in the Bioreactor from water plus seeds, saplings, dyes and even skulls. Variety matters here. With only 1 item type inside, each item makes 80mb. With 4 different items, each one makes 110mb, for a total of 440mb. Biofuel also powers Infinity Tools.[16][22]

Watch out: The coal-burning Pitiful Generator is the opposite of the Biofuel Generator. It keeps burning fuel even when its energy buffer is full, so use it only to get started.[6]

Later on, the Mycelial Reactor uses the whole family of Mycelial Generators to make massive amounts of FE. The generator types in JEI include Furnace, Slimey, Death, Netherstar and many more. For the reactor to work, one of each generator type must be running at the same time.[19][23]

Moving items and fluids

The Conveyor Belt carries items, entities and fluids. Items and entities can travel up and down slopes, but fluids only move horizontally. Right-click a conveyor with a dye to color it. Glowstone makes it move items and entities very fast, and plastic stops items on the belt from being picked up.[18]

Conveyors interact with the world through upgrades. Most upgrades let you filter what they affect in their GUI. Where entities are involved, you filter them with a Mob Imprisonment Tool holding that entity.[18][24]

For compact logistics, use transporters. Item and Fluid Transporters move things between inventories that are 1 block apart, and you need one transporter on the extraction side and one on the insertion side. Right-click the middle area to change modes, and sneak + right-click a transporter to remove it or its upgrades. The GUI has whitelist and blacklist filters. In insertion mode, regulator mode lets you cap how much the target inventory holds. Right-click Speed Addons into the outer ring to make a transporter faster, or Efficiency Addons to make it move more at once. World Transporters work the same way but pick items up from the world or drop them into it.[11][12][25]

The Block Breaker breaks the block in front of it into its internal inventory. The Block Placer places blocks from its inventory. Each costs 1000RF per operation. This pack changed the recipes for both machines and for the Conveyor Belt, so don't rely on recipes you remember from other packs.[10][26][27]

Mob farming

The Mob Crusher kills mobs as if a player did it. Drops come straight from the mob's loot pool, and each kill also produces Essence, the mod's fluid form of experience. It has an alternate mode in which mobs don't generate Essence and each kill instead has a random chance to use Looting at any level.[19][28][29]

This pack slows the Crusher down. Its MachineAgricultureHusbandryConfig.MobCrusherConfig.maxProgress is 100 ticks (5 seconds) instead of the default 50 (2.5s). Its MachineAgricultureHusbandryConfig.MobCrusherConfig.powerPerOperation is 50 FE per tick instead of the default 40FE. Its Essence tank holds 32,000 mb.[20]

To catch a mob, right-click it with a Mob Imprisonment Tool, and right-click the ground to release it again. Put a filled tool into the Mob Duplicator along with power and Essence, and it spawns copies of that mob around itself. It counts nearby entities and stops when there are too many.[30][31]

The Duplicator is tuned heavily in this pack. Each spawn costs the mob's health × 12 in Essence. The MachineAgricultureHusbandryConfig.MobDuplicatorConfig.maxProgress is 62 ticks instead of the default 100, so it spawns faster. It also costs 5,000 FE per operation instead of the default 400FE, and its buffer holds 50,000 FE instead of 10,000 FE. MachineAgricultureHusbandryConfig.MobDuplicatorConfig.exactCopy is false, so spawns are not exact copies.[20]

The Mob Slaughter Factory processes mobs into Liquid Meat and Pink Slime instead of drops or experience. Passive mobs give more Pink Slime. Liquid Meat can feed Mechanical Dirt, which spawns mobs quickly for 1000RF and 20mb of Liquid Meat per operation. Normal spawn rules still apply, so the light level must be 7 or lower and the block must be loaded. Power or meat supplied to one Mechanical Dirt block is shared equally with connected blocks.[32][33]

Animals

The Animal Feeder feeds animals so they breed. In this pack it stops working once there are 35 animals in its area. The Animal Baby Separator teleports babies to the back of the machine, and you choose which mob types it moves in the GUI. The Animal Rancher shears sheep and milks cows.[20][34][35][36]

Crop farming

The Plant Sower has 9 color-coded inventory slots that match 9 colored sections of its working area. Each section is planted only with seeds from its matching slot, so you can lay out mixed fields precisely.[37]

The Plant Gatherer harvests crops and chops trees. Once it starts on a tree, it takes every log and leaf connected to the base log. Each operation produces a little Sludge, which the Sludge Refiner turns into something useful. The Gatherer breaks crops rather than right-click harvesting them. If you feed it small amounts of Ether Gas, it replants automatically. You get Ether Gas from a Fluid Laser Base placed on top of a Wither.[38][39][40][41]

This pack speeds up farming. The Plant Sower and Plant Gatherer both have a cooldown of 40 ticks instead of the default 100. The Plant Fertilizer runs every 50 ticks instead of 100, but it costs 1000 FE per operation instead of the default 400FE.[20]

Watch out: The Plant Fertilizer keeps fertilizing the same crop until the crop can't take any more. It can get stuck on plants that always accept bonemeal, like Sunflowers, or on plants that never reach their final growth stage.[42]

To feed the Plant Fertilizer without buying bonemeal, place a Sewer under your animals to collect Sewage. The Sewer also turns experience into Essence. Then run the Sewage through a Sewage Composter to make Fertilizer, which works like bonemeal.[42][43][44][45]

Crafting and resources

The Dissolution Chamber crafts with up to 8 items and/or 1 fluid, and it can output items, fluids or both. Its recipes are shapeless. While a recipe is loaded, it locks its slots so no extra items get inserted.[14]

For endless resources, a powered Laser Drill charges the first Ore Laser Base or Fluid Laser Base in its working area. Which ores come out depends on weights set by biome and mining depth, and laser lenses raise the weight of a chosen ore. Fluid Laser Bases need a catalyst that isn't consumed, the right biome and depth, and sometimes an entity underneath. JEI lists the values.[46][47][48]

How do you progress through Industrial Foregoing?

6 parts

Industrial Foregoing progression in this pack is built around four machine frames: the Pity Machine Frame, Simple Machine Frame, Advanced Machine Frame and Supreme Machine Frame. Most machine recipes call for one of these frames. The mod's quest chapter follows the same ladder, so each batch of machines unlocks right after you make the matching frame.[5][10]

Pity tier: rubber and plastic

Everything starts with a quest in "?", which asks for a Pity Machine Frame. That quest opens three branches: the Fluid Extractor, the Pitiful Generator, and the Item Transporter and Fluid Transporter.[5]

The Pitiful Generator burns fuels like coal to get you going. It is very inefficient: it keeps consuming fuel even when its energy buffer is full, so treat it as a stopgap.[6]

  1. Place the Fluid Extractor in front of logs to pull latex out of them. Power is optional, but it makes the extractor work faster. Quest a quest in "?" asks for a Latex Bucket.[5][7]
  2. Feed that latex into a Latex Processing Unit. It uses 750mb of Latex and 500mb of Water to make 1 Dry Rubber. This covers quests a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[5][8]
  3. Turn your rubber into Plastic for quest a quest in "?". Plastic is one of the most important materials in the mod, and this quest is the big gate for the rest of the early game.[5][9]
Tip: This pack adds its own extra recipe for Dry Rubber, which gives you a second way to get it.[10]

Once you have Plastic, a lot of machines open up in the quests. You get the Mob Slaughter Factory, the Block Placer and Block Breaker, and the Sewer with the Sewage Composter. You also get the Fluid Placer and Fluid Collector, and the animal trio: Animal Rancher, Animal Feeder and Animal Baby Separator. Rounding it out are the Bioreactor, Biofuel Generator, Dissolution Chamber, Mob Imprisonment Tool, Conveyor Belt, Plant Gatherer and Plant Sower.[5]

The Bioreactor and Biofuel Generator are a solid power upgrade over the Pitiful Generator. The Biofuel Generator makes 160RF/t and stops consuming fuel when its internal buffer is full.[6][17]

Watch out: This pack changes the recipes for the Block Breaker, Block Placer, Conveyor Belt and Fluid Collector. Check the in-pack recipe instead of relying on older videos.[10]

The Dissolution Chamber

Quest a quest in "?" asks for the Dissolution Chamber, and it is the heart of this mod's crafting. It crafts with up to 8 items and/or 1 fluid. Every recipe is shapeless, so the ingredients can go in any slot. Every higher machine frame is made in it.[5][10][14]

The Dissolution Chamber also unlocks a quest in "?", which accepts any machine addon. Range addons come in tiers 0 to 11, and each tier adds 1 block of range to machines with a working area. Speed addons add +1 or +2 progress per tick. Efficiency addons cut operation time by 10% or 20%. Processing addons add +1 or +2 operations per cycle.[5][15]

Tip: This pack changes the Dissolution Chamber recipes for all range addons and for the Tier 1 and Tier 2 speed, efficiency and processing addons. Tier 2 addons have two recipes: the pack's version builds one directly, and the mod's version upgrades an existing Tier 1 addon.[10][15]

Simple tier

Quest a quest in "?" follows the Dissolution Chamber and asks for the Simple Machine Frame, which you make in the chamber.[5][10]

The Simple Machine Frame unlocks the Mob Detector, Fermentation Station, Hydroponic Bed and Marine Fisher. It also unlocks your first mycelial generators: Furnace Mycelial Generator, Frosty Mycelial Generator, Culinary Mycelial Generator and Pink Mycelial Generator. The Plant Fertilizer quest needs both the Simple frame and the Sewer quest a quest in "?".[5]

Advanced tier

The Advanced Machine Frame quest, a quest in "?", needs two things: the Simple frame quest and a quest in "?", which asks for a Pink Slime Bucket and a Liquid Meat Bucket. Both fluids come from the Mob Slaughter Factory. It turns mobs into Liquid Meat and Pink Slime without producing drops or experience, and passive mobs give more Pink Slime.[5][32][49][50]

Infinity tools branch

The Pink Slime and Liquid Meat quest also opens a side branch. First comes a quest in "?" for the Infinity Charger, which charges Infinity items very fast. After that, a quest in "?" asks for the Infinity Trident, Infinity Drill, Infinity Saw, Infinity Hammer and Infinity Backpack. This pack changes the Dissolution Chamber recipes for the drill, saw, hammer and trident.[5][10][51]

Watch for Industrial Foregoing outside its own chapter too: other quest chapters in this pack also ask for the Dissolution Chamber and the Mycelial Reactor.[53][54]

How does Industrial Foregoing work with other mods?

4 parts

Industrial Foregoing is tied into a lot of other mods in this pack. Its machines drill ores from other mods, its Dissolution Chamber crafts items for other mods, its fluids feed other mods' machines, and a few of its blocks are part of big endgame crafts.[10]

Laser Drill ores from other mods

The pack changed the Laser Drill ore recipes so each lens color gives you ores and raw materials from other mods. You can pull gem and mineral ores like Ruby Ore, Sapphire Ore, Peridot Ore, Cinnabar Ore, Fluorite Ore and Sulfur Ore. It also gives raw metals like Raw Aluminum, Raw Lead, Raw Nickel, Raw Osmium, Raw Platinum, Raw Silver, Raw Tin, Raw Iridium and Raw Uranium, plus Raw Tungsten.[10]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Industrial Foregoing?

5 parts

Industrial Foregoing has its own quest chapter in this pack, and a few of its machines also show up in other chapters. The mod's chapter is a big tree: you start with the cheapest machine frame and branch outward, and each new machine frame tier opens up the next wave of machines.[5][13][53][54]

The Industrial Foregoing chapter: getting started

Everything begins with a quest in "?", which asks for a Pity Machine Frame. Once that's done, the chapter opens three quests at once. You can grab the Pitiful Generator in a quest in "?" and the Item Transporter plus Fluid Transporter in a quest in "?" whenever you like. The main path runs through the Fluid Extractor.[5]

  1. Make a Fluid Extractor for a quest in "?".[5]
  2. Collect a Latex Bucket for a quest in "?".[5]
  3. Build a Latex Processing Unit for a quest in "?".[5]
  4. Get Dry Rubber for a quest in "?".[5]
  5. Turn it into Plastic for a quest in "?". This is the big unlock of the chapter.[5]

What Plastic unlocks

Once you finish the Plastic quest, a whole fan of machine quests opens up, and you can do them in any order:[5]

Simple and Advanced Machine Frames

The Dissolution Chamber quest leads to a quest in "?" for the Simple Machine Frame. It also leads to a quest in "?", where any range, speed, efficiency or processing addon completes the quest. The Simple frame unlocks quests for the Furnace, Frosty, Culinary and Pink Mycelial Generators. It also unlocks the Mob Detector, Fermentation Station, Hydroponic Bed and Marine Fisher. You get a quest in "?" for the Plant Fertilizer too, once the sewer quest is also done.[5]

Meanwhile, the Mob Slaughter Factory quest opens a quest in "?", which asks for a Pink Slime Bucket and a Liquid Meat Bucket. That quest in turn unlocks Pink Slime, the Pink Slime Ingot and the Infinity Charger. The Infinity Charger quest leads to a quest in "?" for the Infinity Trident, Drill, Saw, Hammer and Backpack.[5]

Tip: a quest in "?" for the Advanced Machine Frame needs both the Simple frame quest and the Pink Slime and Liquid Meat bucket quest. Get your Mob Slaughter Factory running early so it doesn't hold you back.[5]

The Advanced frame is where the chapter really branches out. It unlocks the Mob Duplicator, Mob Crusher, Stasis Chamber, Potion Brewer and every enchantment machine (Factory, Extractor, Applicator, Sorter). It also opens the Crimed, Ender, Death, Magma, Disenchantment, Potion, Explosive, Rocket and Slimey Mycelial Generators. The Material StoneWork Factory and Fluid Sieving Machine quests also need the Pink Slime quest, and the Washing Factory quest also needs the Pink Slime Ingot quest.[5]

Supreme Machine Frame and the endgame

Which Industrial Foregoing config options matter?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Industrial Foregoing stores its machine settings in several config files, and All the Mods 10 changes quite a few of them. These are the settings most likely to affect how you play. Each default below is the one listed in the config file's own comments, so you can see exactly what the pack changed.[55][56][57][58][59]

Power generation

Tip: Both generators produce less per tick than their listed defaults in this pack. Plan on building more of them than an older guide or video might suggest.[57]

Getting started with latex

Mob and animal machines

Plant farming

  • The Plant Gatherer and Plant Sower both run faster here, with a 40-tick cooldown instead of the default 100.[55]
  • Plant Fertilizer: its cooldown is 50 ticks (default 100), but it costs 1,000 FE per operation (default 400 FE).[55]

What changed in Industrial Foregoing between versions?

1 part

Industrial Foregoing has been in All the Mods 10 since version 2.2 or earlier. All the Mods 10 4.5 ships version 1.21-3.6.34.[4]

The pack changelogs only record which version of the mod each release moved to. They don't say what changed inside the mod, so the list below shows version bumps only.[60][61][62][63][64][65]

Version bumps by pack release

  • All the Mods 10 2.36: updated from 1.21-3.6.22 to 1.21-3.6.23.[65]
  • All the Mods 10 2.40: updated from 1.21-3.6.23 to 1.21-3.6.24.[64]
  • All the Mods 10 2.43: updated from 1.21-3.6.24 to 1.21-3.6.25.[63]
  • All the Mods 10 2.47: updated from 1.21-3.6.25 to 1.21-3.6.30.[62]
  • All the Mods 10 3.0: updated from 1.21-3.6.30 to 1.21-3.6.33.[61]
  • All the Mods 10 4.0: updated from 1.21-3.6.33 to 1.21-3.6.34.[60]

The 1.21-3.6.34 build from the 4.0 update is the same one you get in 4.5.[4][60]

Unverified What actually changed in each Industrial Foregoing release, such as new machines, balance changes or fixes, is unverified. No mod changelogs were available for the jars shipped in the pack.
