What is Ars Elemental?

1 part

This pack ships Ars Elemental 0.7.10.1, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. Where you meet it in the pack's quest book is through its elemental armor.[1]

The quests sit in the "Basic Armor" chapter. Each element gets its own quest, and each asks you to collect a full set: hat, robes, leggings and boots. They are listed in this order: Geomancer (earth), Aquamancer (water), Pyromancer (fire) and Aethermancer (air).[2]

The elemental outfits

Unverified Whether the ATM Star quest path uses Ars Elemental is not shown by the sources here, so check the pack's quest book in game for that.

How do you get started with Ars Elemental?

3 parts

Welcome to Ars Elemental! In this pack, the Basic Armor quest chapter has one quest for each element: "Pyromancer Outfit" quest for fire, "Aquamancer Outfit" quest for water, "Geomancer Outfit" quest for earth and "Aethermancer Outfit" quest for air. Each one asks for a hat, robes, leggings and boots of that element, so an elemental armor set is a natural place to start.[2]

Pick your element and build the set

  1. Choose an element. Fire, water, earth and air each have their own four-piece outfit.[2][3]
  2. Get a Mark of Mastery. The mod's advancement text says you obtain it by combining the essences with the tribute.[3]
  3. Make each of the four pieces (hat, robes, leggings and boots). In this pack every piece is an armor upgrade recipe that uses a Mark of Mastery.[3][4]

Here is the Pyromancer's Hat as an example. The other elemental pieces follow the same pattern, each with its own recipe.[4]

Armor Upgrade (sauce)

Recipe id: ars_elemental:fire_hat

The water, earth and air hats, robes, leggings and boots are separate armor upgrade recipes of the same type.

Why bother with a full set?

Wearing two or more set pieces gives you a set bonus, and four pieces of the same element count as a full school set. Each element also has its own perk:[3]

  • Fire: absorbs some fire-related damage and instantly clears fire.[3]
  • Water: absorbs some water-related damage and refills your air if you are about to drown.[3]
  • Earth: absorbs some earth-related damage and gives food deep underground if you are about to starve.[3]
  • Air: absorbs some air-related damage and highly reduces fall damage.[3]

A cheap extra: the Trinkets Pouch

While you gather materials for the armor, you can also make a Trinkets Pouch. It is a simple shaped crafting recipe.[3][4]

This is a normal crafting recipe, so it needs no special station.

How does Ars Elemental work?

6 parts

The sources for Ars Elemental in this pack show a spellcasting add-on: elemental armor sets, foci, familiars, new glyphs and a handful of rituals. They do not describe machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling, so this section covers how the spellcasting systems work.[3][4]

Unverified Ars Elemental has no config files in the pack that the sources here show, so any tuned values such as spell costs or armor numbers are not confirmed beyond what the item descriptions say.

Elemental armor sets

Armor bonuses depend on how many matching pieces you wear. Two or more set pieces give the set bonus, and four pieces of the same element give the full school set bonus.[3]

The weight class of the armor decides what happens after it absorbs damage from its own element. Light armor gives you a higher spell critical chance for a short time. Medium armor gives a mana discount for a short time, and the full set also converts some of the absorbed damage into mana. Heavy armor converts some of the absorbed damage into mana, and with the full set, overflowing mana is converted into health.[3]

  • Air: absorbs some air-related damage and highly reduces fall damage.[3]
  • Aqua: absorbs some water-related damage and refills your air if you are about to drown.[3]
  • Earth: absorbs some earth-related damage and gives food deep underground if you are about to starve.[3]
  • Fire: absorbs some fire-related damage and instantly clears fire.[3]

Air armor like Aethermancer's Hat and Thunderguard's Helmet comes from armor upgrade recipes rather than plain crafting. The Thunderguard boots below show the pattern.[4]

Foci

A lesser focus is the first step and a major focus is the upgrade. Focus of Air is the upgrade of Lesser Focus of Air, and the recipe is below.[4]

Focus of AirMod recipe

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_elemental:air_focus

The focus you wear can change how some spells behave. For example, casting Launch with Extend Time while wearing an air focus can make a mob levitate. Summon Steed also depends on the focus: a water focus summons a dolphin, a fire focus a strider and a necromancy focus a skeleton horse.[3]

Familiars

Familiars are obtained by performing the Ritual of Binding near the matching creature. Each one boosts a school of spells.[3]

  • Flarecannon Familiar: increases Fire spell damage by 2 and reduces projectile-based spell costs by 20%. Feed it a Magma Cream for a short Fire Resistance buff.[3]
  • Flashjack Familiar: increases Lightning spell damage by 2 and reduces movement-based spell costs by 20%. Feed it a Flashpine for a short Speed and Night Vision buff.[3]
  • Siren Familiar: increases Water spell damage by 2 and gives the summoner Dolphin Grace II while in water.[3]

Glyph behavior worth knowing

  • Arc Projectile is affected by gravity, and every Pierce applied makes it bounce one time when it hits the ground.[3]
  • Homing Projectile seeks the nearest entity and follows it, and behaves as a classic projectile while there are no valid targets. Players are targeted only if it is augmented by Sensitive.[3]
  • Carian Phalanx summons floating projectiles that orbit you and launch at enemies that get close. You can have up to 5 orbiting at once, and casting more dismisses the oldest.[3]
  • Bubble Shield consumes mana to reduce incoming damage, and it dissipates if the mana is exhausted while defending.[3]
  • Life Link shares damage dealt to you with the target, and healing of the target is shared with you. Sensitive reverses the direction of the link and Cut can sever it.[3]
  • Conjure Terrain places dirt or other terrain blocks. One Amplify places cobblestone and two place cobbled deepslate. Followed by Conjure Water, it places mud.[3]
  • The creature filter glyphs (aerial, aquatic, fiery, arthropod and more) stop the spell from resolving if the target matches. The "not" versions stop it unless the target matches.[3]

Enchantments

Mirror Shield can only be applied to the Enchanter's Shield. It gives a chance of reflecting a spell projectile while you block, at 25% per level. Soulbound prevents the enchanted item from being lost on death.[3]

Rituals, prisms and storage

The pack has ritual items such as Attraction, Repulsion, Detection, Pollination, Fast Squirrels and Zapping. There are also the archwood rituals Conjure Island: Archwood Forest and Forestation - Archwood. The sources here show how these are crafted but not what each ritual does in detail, so here is the Zapping recipe as an example.[4]

Several of these recipes call for Flashing Archwood Log. The matching sapling, Flashing Archwood Sapling, has its own recipe that builds on Ars Nouveau's other archwood saplings.[4]

Advanced Spell Prism has a crafting recipe, and Acceleration Prism Lens is made through imbuement. The sources don't say what either one does, so check them in-game before building around them.[4]

For carrying gear, the Trinkets Pouch (Trinkets Pouch) has its own simple crafting recipe.[4]

How do you progress through Ars Elemental?

3 parts

In the pack's quest book, Ars Elemental shows up in the Basic Armor chapter, as a set of elemental outfit quests. Beyond those, your progression comes from the in-pack recipes, so this section covers the quests first and then what else the recipes unlock.[2][4]

The quest path: elemental outfits

The Basic Armor chapter has a quest for each element. Each one asks you to hand in a full outfit: hat, robes, leggings and boots. The quests are "Geomancer Outfit" quest for earth, "Aquamancer Outfit" quest for water, "Pyromancer Outfit" quest for fire and "Aethermancer Outfit" quest for air.[2]

How the armor is made

You don't craft these outfits from scratch. In this pack every piece is an armor upgrade recipe that builds on a matching Ars Nouveau armor piece. Here is the air hat as an example, and the other outfit pieces follow the same pattern.[4]

Armor Upgrade (sauce)

Recipe id: ars_elemental:air_hat

An armor upgrade recipe, the same type as the other outfit pieces.

The quest outfits are only one armor family. The recipes also include the Olympian's set (Olympian's Hood, Olympian's Tunic, Olympian's Pants, Olympian's Shoes) and the Thunderguard's set (Thunderguard's Helmet, Thunderguard's Chestplate, Thunderguard's Leggings, Thunderguard's Boots). Water has matching versions too: Nereid's pieces such as Nereid's Hood and Winterguard's pieces such as Winterguard's Helmet. Each family upgrades a different Ars Nouveau armor line.[4]

Armor Upgrade (sauce)

Recipe id: ars_elemental:air_chestplate

The Thunderguard's pieces use the same armor upgrade recipe type.

Tip: Each outfit quest checks for every piece of its element, so craft the full outfit before you expect the quest to complete.[2]

Beyond the armor: recipes the pack changed

Some recipes in this pack differ from the mod's defaults: the Enchanter's Bangle, the Spellcaster Bag and the Slipstream Current Elevator. If you've seen other guides for these, trust the recipes shown here instead.[4]

How does Ars Elemental work with other mods?

3 parts

The in-pack recipes that connect Ars Elemental with other content come from two places: Ars Nouveau's enchanting apparatus, and a custom armor upgrade recipe type. Everything else in the cross-mod recipes is Ars Elemental gear being combined into higher tiers.[4]

Ars Nouveau: the enchanting apparatus

Two of the Cinder-tier items are made in the Ars Nouveau enchanting apparatus. The Focus of Cinder is built from the Air and Fire foci plus Cinder Essence. The Cinder Bangle works the same way, using the Air and Fire bangles and Mark of Mastery.[4]

The Elemancer Bangle also goes through the enchanting apparatus. The pack has three recipe pairs for it, each combining two lower-tier bangles: Lava with Tempest, Cinder with Mire, and Silt with Vapor.[4]

Armor upgrades

Cinder armor pieces, such as the Cindermancer Hat and the Ashguard's Chestplate, are armor upgrade recipes that merge the matching Air and Fire pieces from Ars Elemental. This covers the robes line, the heavy guard line and the hood, tunic, pants and shoes line. The hat and chestplate recipes are shown here.[4]

Armor Upgrade (sauce)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_hat_1

Armor Upgrade (sauce)

Recipe id: ars_elemancy:cinder_chestplate_1

The top tier, built around Elemancer Shard, follows the same pattern. For example, the Elemancer Hat and Omniguard's Helmet are each made by merging two element-pair pieces. The pairs are Lava with Tempest, Cinder with Mire, and Silt with Vapor. Every one of these recipes also needs Mark of Mastery.[4]

Tip: Most of these recipes appear twice in the pack, usually as a _1 and _2 pair. The ones listed for boots and heavy gear use the pack's armor upgrade recipe type rather than a normal crafting table, so look for them in the recipe viewer under that type.[4]

Quests

The Basic Armor quest chapter has outfit quests for Ars Elemental: "Geomancer Outfit" quest, "Aquamancer Outfit" quest, "Pyromancer Outfit" quest and "Aethermancer Outfit" quest. Each asks for a full hat, robes, leggings and boots set of one element, and each is worth 15. These tasks only use Ars Elemental items, so they are not cross-mod quests.[2]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Ars Elemental?

1 part

In this pack, Ars Elemental appears in the "Basic Armor" quest chapter. The quests there are outfit quests, one for each element, and each one asks you to get the matching elemental armor set from the mod.[2]

The Basic Armor outfit quests

Every quest here has the same shape. The tasks are item tasks, one for each piece of the set: hat, robes, leggings and boots. Here they are in the order the chapter lists them.[2]

  1. "Geomancer Outfit" quest is the earth set. You need Geomancer's Hat, Geomancer's Robes, Geomancer's Leggings and Geomancer's Boots.[2]
  2. "Aquamancer Outfit" quest is the water set. You need Aquamancer's Hat, Aquamancer's Robes, Aquamancer's Leggings and Aquamancer's Boots.[2]
  3. "Pyromancer Outfit" quest is the fire set. You need Pyromancer's Hat, Pyromancer's Robes, Pyromancer's Leggings and Pyromancer's Boots.[2]
  4. "Aethermancer Outfit" quest is the air set. You need Aethermancer's Hat, Aethermancer's Robes, Aethermancer's Leggings and Aethermancer's Boots.[2]

The quest texts are short. Each one just names the set as Ars Elemental Earth, Water, Fire or Air Armor.[2]
