What is Ars Elemental?
1 part
This pack includes Ars Elemental version 0.7.10.1. The pack's quest book has no chapter of its own for it. Its quests sit inside the Ars Nouveau chapter, mixed in with the rest of that magic questline.[1][2]
The quests show what the mod adds: spell glyphs, elemental foci, bangles and rituals.[2]
Where it fits in the quest book
The gate to the advanced content is the Mark of Mastery. Its quest comes after the Imbuement Chamber and says the item is used to make much of the advanced Ars Elemental gear. See "Mark of Mastery" quest.[2]
- Glyphs: the Ars Elemental glyphs are spread across the Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 glyph quests. For example, Glyph Spark is in Tier 1, Glyph Spike in Tier 2 and Glyph Conflagrate in Tier 3. The filter glyphs, such as Glyph Undead Filter, sit in their own Filter Glyphs group.[2]
- Lesser foci: Lesser Focus of Fire and its water, air and earth counterparts come after the Enchanting Apparatus. Foci boost magic of one particular type, and hovering over a glyph shows its type in the top right. See "Lesser Elemental Foci" quest.[2]
- Elemental foci: Focus of Fire, Focus of Water, Focus of Air and Focus of Earth are the stronger versions. Their quest comes after both the Mark of Mastery and the lesser foci. See "Elemental Foci" quest.[2]
- Support foci and bangles: Focus of Necromancy is in the Other Foci quest, and the Bangles quest covers items like Enchanter's Bangle and Summoner's Bangle. Both come after the Enchanting Apparatus. See "Other Foci" quest and "Bangles" quest.[2]
- Rituals: items like Attraction and Detection come after the Ritual Brazier.[2]
Unverified The sources here do not show whether the ATM Star path uses Ars Elemental, so check the quest book before planning around it.
How do you get started with Ars Elemental?
5 parts
In this pack, the Ars Elemental quests live inside the quest book's "Ars Nouveau" chapter, so your first steps here are about gathering the right materials and unlocking the elemental upgrades in order. This is the order I'd follow.[2]
Collect Ars essences first
Start with the essences. The quest "Ars Essence" quest sits after the Imbuement Chamber and Source Gems quests, and it says essence from Ars is needed for virtually every spell and enchanting apparatus recipe. It also accepts the Ars Elemental anima essence, so that one counts too.[2]
Get the Mark of Mastery
Next comes Mark of Mastery. The quest "Mark of Mastery" quest comes after the Imbuement Chamber quest and says the mark is used to make much of the advanced Ars Elemental gear. The mod's own advancement text describes it as made by combining the essences with the tribute.[2][3]
Make your foci
Foci boost magic of one element. The quest "Lesser Elemental Foci" quest covers the lesser versions, such as Lesser Focus of Fire, and tells you that hovering over a glyph shows which type a spell is, in the top right. The quest "Elemental Foci" quest comes after the Mark of Mastery and the lesser foci, and covers the more enhanced, powerful major foci.[2]
A major focus is made at the enchanting apparatus from the matching lesser focus plus the Mark of Mastery. Here is the Fire one:[4]
The other three major foci follow the same pattern with their own lesser focus.
Bangles and elemental armor
The "Bangles" quest quest describes bangles as a type of bauble that gives passive abilities and can boost spell damage. The elemental bangles are built from Enchanter's Bangle, and the pack changed that recipe from the mod's version, so follow this one:[2][4]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Ring of Potential
End Crystal
- 2× any gold storage block
- any source storage block
Recipe id: ars_elemental:base_bangle
This recipe is changed by the pack.
Each element also has a four-piece armor set, such as the Pyromancer outfit in "Pyromancer Outfit" quest. Fire armor absorbs some fire-related damage and instantly clears fire. The other elements follow the same pattern with their own perks.[3][5]
Armor pieces use this kind of armor upgrade recipe.
Defense and prisms
Once you have foci, the quest "Elemental Turrets" quest unlocks the elemental turrets. It comes after the Enchanted Spell Turret and Elemental Foci quests. The turrets shoot super-charged spells when the spell is aligned with their element, and the quest says they work best on defense.[2]
The turret is an imbuement recipe built from the matching major focus.
For something more advanced, Advanced Spell Prism is an adjustable version of the spell prism that works with the Dominion Wand. It also accepts the prism lenses that the quest book unlocks right after it. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version.[2][4]

How does Ars Elemental work?
6 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
The sources for Ars Elemental in this pack show a spellcasting add-on: elemental armor sets, foci, familiars, new glyphs and a handful of rituals. They do not describe machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling, so this section covers how the spellcasting systems work.[6][7]
Unverified Ars Elemental has no config files in the pack that the sources here show, so any tuned values such as spell costs or armor numbers are not confirmed beyond what the item descriptions say.
Elemental armor sets
Armor bonuses depend on how many matching pieces you wear. Two or more set pieces give the set bonus, and four pieces of the same element give the full school set bonus.[6]
The weight class of the armor decides what happens after it absorbs damage from its own element. Light armor gives you a higher spell critical chance for a short time. Medium armor gives a mana discount for a short time, and the full set also converts some of the absorbed damage into mana. Heavy armor converts some of the absorbed damage into mana, and with the full set, overflowing mana is converted into health.[6]
- Air: absorbs some air-related damage and highly reduces fall damage.[6]
- Aqua: absorbs some water-related damage and refills your air if you are about to drown.[6]
- Earth: absorbs some earth-related damage and gives food deep underground if you are about to starve.[6]
- Fire: absorbs some fire-related damage and instantly clears fire.[6]
Air armor like Aethermancer's Hat and Thunderguard's Helmet comes from armor upgrade recipes rather than plain crafting. The Thunderguard boots below show the pattern.[7]
Armor upgrade recipe in this pack.
Foci
A lesser focus is the first step and a major focus is the upgrade. Focus of Air is the upgrade of Lesser Focus of Air, and the recipe is below.[7]
The focus you wear can change how some spells behave. For example, casting Launch with Extend Time while wearing an air focus can make a mob levitate. Summon Steed also depends on the focus: a water focus summons a dolphin, a fire focus a strider and a necromancy focus a skeleton horse.[6]
Familiars
Familiars are obtained by performing the Ritual of Binding near the matching creature. Each one boosts a school of spells.[6]
- Flarecannon Familiar: increases Fire spell damage by 2 and reduces projectile-based spell costs by 20%. Feed it a Magma Cream for a short Fire Resistance buff.[6]
- Flashjack Familiar: increases Lightning spell damage by 2 and reduces movement-based spell costs by 20%. Feed it a Flashpine for a short Speed and Night Vision buff.[6]
- Siren Familiar: increases Water spell damage by 2 and gives the summoner Dolphin Grace II while in water.[6]
Glyph behavior worth knowing
- Arc Projectile is affected by gravity, and every Pierce applied makes it bounce one time when it hits the ground.[6]
- Homing Projectile seeks the nearest entity and follows it, and behaves as a classic projectile while there are no valid targets. Players are targeted only if it is augmented by Sensitive.[6]
- Carian Phalanx summons floating projectiles that orbit you and launch at enemies that get close. You can have up to 5 orbiting at once, and casting more dismisses the oldest.[6]
- Bubble Shield consumes mana to reduce incoming damage, and it dissipates if the mana is exhausted while defending.[6]
- Life Link shares damage dealt to you with the target, and healing of the target is shared with you. Sensitive reverses the direction of the link and Cut can sever it.[6]
- Conjure Terrain places dirt or other terrain blocks. One Amplify places cobblestone and two place cobbled deepslate. Followed by Conjure Water, it places mud.[6]
- The creature filter glyphs (aerial, aquatic, fiery, arthropod and more) stop the spell from resolving if the target matches. The "not" versions stop it unless the target matches.[6]
Enchantments
Mirror Shield can only be applied to the Enchanter's Shield. It gives a chance of reflecting a spell projectile while you block, at 25% per level. Soulbound prevents the enchanted item from being lost on death.[6]
Rituals, prisms and storage
The pack has ritual items such as Attraction, Repulsion, Detection, Pollination, Fast Squirrels and Zapping. There are also the archwood rituals Conjure Island: Archwood Forest and Forestation - Archwood. The sources here show how these are crafted but not what each ritual does in detail, so here is the Zapping recipe as an example.[7]

How do you progress through Ars Elemental?
5 parts
Ars Elemental builds on Ars Nouveau in this pack, and its quests sit inside the Ars Nouveau chapter. The order below follows the quest dependencies, starting from essence and the Mark of Mastery.[2]
Step 1: Essence and the Mark of Mastery
The "Ars Essence" quest quest reminds you that essence is needed for virtually every spell and enchanting apparatus recipe. It also accepts the Anima essence from this mod. The "Mark of Mastery" quest quest comes right after the Imbuement Chamber, and it says Mark of Mastery is used to make much of the advanced Ars Elemental gear. The Elemental Foci quest comes after it in the quest book.[2]
Step 2: Glyphs by tier
The mod's glyph quests hang off the Ars Nouveau Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 Glyph quests. At Tier 1 you get Glyph Spark and Glyph Conjure Terrain. Tier 2 covers Glyph Arc Projectile, Glyph Propagator Arc, Glyph Bubble Shield, Glyph Watery Grave, Glyph Discharge, Glyph Phantom Grasp, Glyph Envenom, Glyph Poison Spores, Glyph Charm and Glyph Spike. Tier 3 has Glyph Homing Projectile, Glyph Propagator Homing, Glyph Conflagrate and Glyph Life Link.[2]
The pack changed the Spike glyph recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default. This is the in-pack version:[4]
Glyph (ars_nouveau)
Earth Essence
Pointed Dripstone
- any netherite ingot
Recipe id: ars_elemental:glyph_spike
This recipe is changed by the pack.
There is also a separate set of filter glyphs, such as Glyph Fiery Filter, Glyph Undead Filter and Glyph Not Summon Filter. Each filter has a "not" version, and the ones in the recipe list are crafted with an Item Scroll plus one extra item.[2][4]
Step 3: Foci
The "Lesser Elemental Foci" quest quest comes after the Enchanting Apparatus. It explains that foci boost magic of one type, and you can see a spell's type by hovering over the glyph and checking the top right. The pack changed all four lesser focus recipes (fire, water, air and earth), which are imbuement recipes.[2][4]
Imbuement (ars_nouveau)
3× Fire Essence
Amethyst Shard
- 3× any gold ingot
Recipe id: ars_elemental:lesser_fire_focus
This recipe is changed by the pack, and the water, air and earth versions are changed too.
"Elemental Foci" quest is the upgrade step. It comes after Mark of Mastery and the lesser foci, and it asks for Focus of Fire, Focus of Water, Focus of Air or Focus of Earth. The fire, air and earth versions are enchanting apparatus recipes.[2][4]
"Other Foci" quest covers the support foci and includes Focus of Necromancy.[2]
Step 4: Armor, bangles and turrets
The Basic Armor chapter has one outfit quest per element: "Pyromancer Outfit" quest, "Aquamancer Outfit" quest, "Aethermancer Outfit" quest and "Geomancer Outfit" quest. Each one asks for the hat, robes, leggings and boots. Every set boosts glyphs of its element and reduces damage from that element. With the full set worn, some of that incoming damage is converted into mana. The Pyromancer set gives higher fire resistance when the full set is worn.[5]
Each armor piece is made with an armor upgrade recipe that uses the Mark of Mastery. Here is the Pyromancer's Hat as an example:[4]
The "Bangles" quest quest covers bangles, which are baubles that grant passive abilities and can boost spell damage. Everything starts from Enchanter's Bangle, whose recipe the pack changed. The fire, air, earth and anima bangles in the recipe list are then made from that base at the enchanting apparatus.[2][4]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Ring of Potential
End Crystal
- 2× any gold storage block
- any source storage block

"Elemental Turrets" quest comes after the Enchanted Spell Turret and Elemental Foci quests. The elemental turrets fire super-charged spells when the spell matches their element, and the quest notes they work best on defense. The fire, air and earth turrets in the recipe list are imbuement recipes built on an Enchanted Spell Turret.[2][4]
Late extras
- The Advanced Spell Prism is an adjustable spell prism, set with the Dominion Wand, and it accepts the prism lenses. The pack changed its recipe.[2][4]
- The lens quest calls the lenses "pretty broken". It lists lenses such as Homing Prism Lens, Arc Prism Lens, Acceleration Prism Lens, Deceleration Prism Lens, Piercing Prism Lens and Chaining Prism Lens.[2]
- Siren Charm and Flarecannon Charm unlock after the Summoning Help! quest. The in-pack Flarecannon Charm recipe is shown below.[2][4]
- Rituals unlock after the Ritual Brazier: Attraction, Repulsion, Detection, Fast Squirrels, Zapping, Forestation - Archwood and Conjure Island: Archwood Forest.[2]

How does Ars Elemental work with other mods?
4 parts
Ars Elemental builds directly on Ars Nouveau, and in this pack almost every Ars Elemental recipe starts from an Ars Nouveau item. The pack's Ars Nouveau quest chapter also holds the Ars Elemental quests, such as "Ars Essence" quest, which says essence is needed for virtually every spell and enchanting apparatus recipe.[2][4]
Armor upgrades
You don't craft elemental armor from scratch. Each piece is an upgrade of an Ars Nouveau armor piece, and Mark of Mastery is required. The matching quest, "Mark of Mastery" quest, says the Mark is used to make much of the advanced Ars Elemental items. Which Ars Nouveau set you start from decides which Ars Elemental set you get. Here is the Air line:[2][4]
- Arcanist's pieces become the Aethermancer's set, for example Arcanist's Robes into Aethermancer's Robes.[4]
- Battlemage's pieces become the Thunderguard's set, for example Battlemage's Gambeson into Thunderguard's Chestplate.[4]
- Sorceror's pieces become the Olympian's set, for example Sorceror's Wrap into Olympian's Tunic.[4]
Fire, water and earth follow the same pattern with their own essences. The Air Essence in the example below is swapped for the matching essence in the other sets.[4]
Armor upgrade example: the other elemental armor pieces work the same way.
Relays, turrets and prisms
The elemental relays are upgrades of Ars Nouveau Source Relays. Wind Warper Relay comes from the Warper relay, Deep Depositor Relay from the Depositor relay and Fiery Collector Relay from the Collector relay.[4]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Source Relay: Warper
- 2× any diamond gem

The elemental turrets are made by imbuing an Enchanted Spell Turret with the matching focus. The quest "Elemental Turrets" quest unlocks after the Enchanted Spell Turret and Elemental Foci quests, and says these turrets fire super-charged spells when the spell matches their element.[2][4]
Advanced Spell Prism upgrades Ars Nouveau's Spell Prism, and the pack has changed its recipe. The quest a quest in "Ars Nouveau" says it also accepts the prism lenses. Some lenses use Ars Nouveau glyphs, like Acceleration Prism Lens, which uses the Accelerate glyph.[2][4]

Bangles, bags and other recipes the pack changed
The pack changed the recipes for Enchanter's Bangle, Spellcaster Bag and Slipstream Current Elevator. The base bangle is built around Ars Nouveau's Ring of Potential, and the Spellcaster Bag upgrades the Trinkets Pouch. The Trinkets Pouch itself needs Magebloom Fiber. The quest "Bangles" quest covers the bangles.[2][4]

Recipes added by the pack
The pack adds a recipe for Flashpine that uses Ars Nouveau's Magebloom Seed on the Enchanting Apparatus.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Ars Elemental?
6 parts
Ars Elemental shows up in two quest chapters in the pack. Most of it sits in the Ars Nouveau chapter, where the quests mostly ask you to obtain an item. The four elemental armor sets are in the Basic Armor chapter.[2][5]
Ars Nouveau chapter: materials
- "Ars Essence" quest comes after the Imbuement Chamber and Source Gems quests. You can finish it with any one of the listed essences, including Anima Essence from Ars Elemental. The quest says essence is needed for virtually every spell and enchanting apparatus recipe.[2]
- "Mark of Mastery" quest comes after the Imbuement Chamber quest and asks for Mark of Mastery. The quest says it is used to make much of the advanced Ars Elemental items.[2]
Ars Nouveau chapter: glyphs
The glyph quests hang off the pack's glyph tier quests. Each one just asks you to get the glyph.[2]
- Tier 1 Glyphs lead to a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Conjure Terrain) and a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Spark).[2]
- Tier 2 Glyphs lead to a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Charm), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Poison Spores), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Envenom), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Propagator Arc), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Bubble Shield), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Watery Grave), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Discharge), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Phantom Grasp), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Arc Projectile) and a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Spike).[2]
- Tier 3 Glyphs lead to a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Homing Projectile), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Conflagrate), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Propagator Homing) and a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Glyph Life Link).[2]
- Filter Glyphs lead to one quest per filter: aquatic (a quest in "Ars Nouveau") and not aquatic (a quest in "Ars Nouveau"), fiery (a quest in "Ars Nouveau") and not fiery (a quest in "Ars Nouveau"), aerial (a quest in "Ars Nouveau") and not aerial (a quest in "Ars Nouveau"), summon (a quest in "Ars Nouveau") and not summon (a quest in "Ars Nouveau"), undead (a quest in "Ars Nouveau") and not undead (a quest in "Ars Nouveau"), and insect (a quest in "Ars Nouveau") and not insect (a quest in "Ars Nouveau").[2]
Ars Nouveau chapter: foci, bangles and turrets
- "Lesser Elemental Foci" quest comes after the Enchanting Apparatus quest. Any one of the four lesser foci completes it, for example Lesser Focus of Fire or Lesser Focus of Water. The quest notes you can see a spell's type by hovering over its glyph and looking at the top right.[2]
- "Elemental Foci" quest comes after both Mark of Mastery and Lesser Elemental Foci. It accepts Focus of Fire, Focus of Water, Focus of Air or Focus of Earth, and also the Shaper's Focus from Ars Nouveau. The quest calls these the more enhanced and powerful versions of foci.[2]
- "Other Foci" quest comes after the Enchanting Apparatus quest. You need the Summon Focus from Ars Nouveau or Focus of Necromancy.[2]
- "Bangles" quest also comes after the Enchanting Apparatus quest. Any of the base, fire, water, air, earth, summon or anima bangles counts, for example Enchanter's Bangle or Anima Bangle.[2]
- "Elemental Turrets" quest comes after the Enchanted Spell Turret and Elemental Foci quests. Any one of Fire Infused Turret, Water Infused Turret, Air Infused Turret, Earth Infused Turret or Manipulation Infused Turret completes it. The quest says they shoot super-charged spells when the spell is aligned with their element, and that they work best on defense.[2]
Ars Nouveau chapter: rituals
Seven ritual quests all come after the Ritual Brazier quest, so you can take them in any order: a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Fast Squirrels), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Attraction), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Zapping), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Repulsion), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Detection), a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Forestation - Archwood) and a quest in "Ars Nouveau" (Conjure Island: Archwood Forest).[2]
Ars Nouveau chapter: charms and prisms
- "Siren Charm" quest asks for Siren Charm, and "Firecannon Charm" quest asks for Flarecannon Charm. Both come after the Summoning Help! quest.[2]
- a quest in "Ars Nouveau" asks for Advanced Spell Prism. The quest calls it an adjustable version, set with the Dominion Wand, that also accepts the lenses.[2]
- a quest in "Ars Nouveau" comes after the prism quest. It accepts a prism lens such as Homing Prism Lens, Arc Prism Lens, Acceleration Prism Lens, Deceleration Prism Lens, Piercing Prism Lens or Chaining Prism Lens. The quest describes them as self-explanatory upgrades that are pretty broken.[2]
Basic Armor chapter
This chapter has one quest per elemental armor set. Each one asks for the hat, robes, leggings and boots of that element. The sources don't show any prerequisite quests for these, so there is no fixed order.[5]
- "Pyromancer Outfit" quest: Pyromancer's Hat, Pyromancer's Robes, Pyromancer's Leggings and Pyromancer's Boots. The quest says the set empowers Fire glyphs and gives Fire resistance, higher with the full set. It also converts some incoming Fire damage into mana with the full set.[5]
- "Aquamancer Outfit" quest: Aquamancer's Hat, Aquamancer's Robes, Aquamancer's Leggings and Aquamancer's Boots. It boosts Water glyphs and reduces Water damage. With the full set it converts some incoming Water damage into mana.[5]
- "Aethermancer Outfit" quest: Aethermancer's Hat, Aethermancer's Robes, Aethermancer's Leggings and Aethermancer's Boots. It empowers Air glyphs, which the quest says are useful for lightning and mobility spells like Leap. It reduces Air damage and, with the full set, converts some of it into mana.[5]
- "Geomancer Outfit" quest: Geomancer's Hat, Geomancer's Robes, Geomancer's Leggings and Geomancer's Boots. It empowers Earth glyphs, increasing the effectiveness of earth and poison-based spells. It reduces Earth damage and, with the full set, converts some of it into mana.[5]
Which Ars Elemental config options matter?
3 parts
The only Ars Elemental config I can confirm for this pack is the glyph file config/ars_elemental/glyph_nullify_defense.toml. Other Ars Elemental config files aren't covered here, so I'm not guessing at them.[8]
The option you'll care about most
general.enabled is set to false in this pack. The option is labelled "Is Enabled?". The source doesn't list a mod default for it, so I can't say whether the pack changed it.[8]
general.starter is also false. That option is labelled "Is Starter Glyph?", and the source gives no mod default for it either.[8]
Values that match the mod default
The pack leaves the following options at the mod default, so nothing is changed here:[8]
- general.cost is 1,000, the same as the mod default.[8]
- general.glyph_tier is 3, the same as the mod default. The allowed range is 1 to 99.[8]
- general.per_spell_limit is 2,147,483,647, the same as the mod default. It caps how many times this glyph can appear in a single spell.[8]
Empty lists
These options are left as empty lists, so the pack adds no custom entries: general.augment_cost_overrides, general.augment_limits and general.invalid_combos.[8]
If you want to use them yourself, the file's own examples show the format. Cost overrides and augment limits take entries like "glyph_amplify=50" and "glyph_amplify=5". Invalid combos take a glyph id like "glyph_burst".[8]
