What is RFTools Utility?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
RFTools Utility is the 1.14+ version of the original RFTools, a collection of general tools and utilities. Its project page describes it as the home for RFTools blocks that don't fit a more specific category.[1]
This pack includes version 1.21-7.0.12 of the mod.[2]
What's inside
According to the mod's project page, it contains these blocks and tools:[1]
- Automatic crafter[1]
- Environmental controller[1]
- Logic blocks[1]
- Information screens[1]
- Spawner system[1]
- Multitank[1]
- Teleportation system[1]
Related mods
The mod is intended to be used together with RFTools Power. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib.[1]
How do you get started with RFTools Utility?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
RFTools Utility is a grab bag of general-purpose machines: an automatic crafter, logic blocks, information screens, a multitank, a spawner system, an environmental controller and a teleportation system. It builds on RFTools Base, and many recipes here use Machine Base and Machine Frame parts from that mod. Here's the order I'd tackle things in this pack.[1][3]
Start with a Screen and a module
Begin with the Screen, the base of the information screen system. Its recipe is the mod's own, not changed by the pack.[1][3]

For a first module, try the Energy Screen Module, whose recipe the pack has changed from the mod default. If you'd rather watch a machine, the Machine Information Screen Module is also changed by the pack. Sneak right-click a supported block to set its target.[3][4]

Automate your crafting
Next, make the Crafter Tier 1. The mod lists an automatic crafter among its blocks, and this recipe is the mod's own, so the pack leaves it unchanged.[1][3]

Fluids and teleporting
The Tank also uses the mod's own recipe. For teleporting, the Matter Transmitter and the Matter Receiver both have recipes the pack has changed.[1][3]

Aim for the Flight Module
The Flight Module is a task in Chapter 4: The ATM Star of the quest book (a quest in "?"). The pack adds its own recipe for it. That recipe uses a ModulePlus Template, which is made from a Module Template, so craft the templates first.[3][5]

The Environmental Controller and Spawner both have pack-changed recipes that need a Machine Frame from RFTools Base. I'd leave them for later.[3]
How does RFTools Utility work?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
RFTools Utility is the general-purpose part of the RFTools family. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and it is meant to be used together with RFTools Power. The mod covers an automatic crafter, an environmental controller, logic blocks, information screens, a spawner system, a multitank and a teleportation system.[1]
The sources for this pack only explain a small part of how these systems work in depth, so this section is short and sticks to what is confirmed.[1]
Information screens and modules
Information screens are driven by modules. The Machine Information Screen Module lets a screen monitor a machine, but only machines that support this system. To point it at something, sneak right-click a supported block with the module to set its target.[4]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default.
There is also a redstone information module. You right-click a redstone transmitter or receiver with it to add that channel to the module. It is used in the Tablet to view and control wireless redstone.[4]
The pack also has several other screen modules. These include Energy Screen Module, Fluid Screen Module, Inventory Screen Module, Counter Screen Module, Clock Screen Module and Button Screen Module. Energy, fluid, inventory and counter each have a Plus version, for example Energy Plus Screen Module and Counter Plus Screen Module.[3]
Machines and logic blocks
The pack contains the Crafter Tier 1 for automatic crafting and the Environmental Controller. For logic and redstone work it has the Logic, Analog, Counter, Digit and Inventory Checker. For the teleportation system you will find the Dialing Device, Destination Analyzer and Charged Porter. The Matter Beamer and Matter Booster are here too.[3]

How do you progress through RFTools Utility?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
RFTools Utility doesn't have a long quest line in this pack. The only quest in the sources that touches it is a quest in "?" in Chapter 4: The ATM Star, which asks you to hand in a Flight Module. So the real progression here comes from the recipes, and the pack reshapes a lot of them.[5]
Tier 1: Templates and basic modules
Everything in the module line starts with the Module Template. This is the mod's own recipe, and the pack hasn't touched it.[3]

The pack adds its own recipes for the basic modules, each built from a Module Template. These are the Featherfalling Module, Glowing Module, Haste Module, Luck Module, Nightvision Module, Poison Module, Regeneration Module, Saturation Module, Slowness Module, Speed Module and Weakness Module.[3]

Tier 2: ModulePlus Template
The next step is the ModulePlus Template, which is crafted from a Module Template. Keep that in mind: you can't skip the first template.[3]

Recipe id: rftoolsutility:moduleplus_template
In this pack the Blindness Module, Noteleport Module, Peaceful Module, Waterbreathing Module and Flight Module all need a ModulePlus Template. Those recipes are added by the pack, so don't expect the mod's defaults.[3]
The Flight Module is the one the quest asks for, so this is the tier you're working toward.[3][5]

Plus upgrades
Some effect modules have a stronger version: the Featherfalling+ Module, Haste+ Module, Regeneration+ Module, Saturation+ Module and Speed+ Module. The Haste+ recipe is changed by the pack. The others are the mod's own recipes. Here are Haste+ and Speed+ as examples.[3]

Screen modules follow the same idea. The Counter Plus Screen Module, Energy Plus Screen Module, Fluid Plus Screen Module and Inventory Plus Screen Module are each upgraded from their basic screen module (Counter, Energy, Fluid and Inventory), using the mod's own recipes.[3]
Machine tiers
The Crafter comes in three tiers: Crafter Tier 1, Crafter Tier 2 and Crafter Tier 3. All three are the mod's own recipes, shown below.[3]

How does RFTools Utility work with other mods?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
RFTools Utility is built to work with its sibling mods. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and it is meant to be used together with RFTools Power. In this pack, many of its recipes build on RFTools Base parts, such as the Screen and the Tank shown below.[1][3]

The Flight Module and the Improbable Probability Device
The biggest link to the rest of the pack is the Flight Module. The pack adds its own recipe for it, built around the ModulePlus Template.[3]

Once you have it, the Flight Module becomes one input for the Improbable Probability Device. The pack added this recipe itself, and it reaches into several other mods.[3]

Added by the pack. It also uses the Vibrant Capacitor Bank, 16M MEGA Storage Component, Antimatter Pellet and Large Energy Storage.
The pack also points you at the Flight Module through a quest: a quest in "?" in Chapter 4: The ATM Star has it as its task.[5]
Other pack-added modules
The pack also adds its own recipes for the Peaceful Module and the Waterbreathing Module. Both are built on the ModulePlus Template, like the Flight Module.[3]

Changed recipes
The pack has changed many of the mod's base recipes, including the Logic, Sensor, Spawner, Environmental Controller, Matter Transmitter and Matter Receiver. Check the recipe on the site rather than assuming the mod's default.[3]
