What is RFTools Utility?
2 parts
RFTools Utility is the 1.14+ version of the original RFTools, a collection of general tools and utilities. Its project page describes it as the home for RFTools blocks that don't fit a more specific category.[1]
This pack includes version 1.21-7.0.12 of the mod.[2]
What's inside
According to the mod's project page, it contains these blocks and tools:[1]
- Automatic crafter[1]
- Environmental controller[1]
- Logic blocks[1]
- Information screens[1]
- Spawner system[1]
- Multitank[1]
- Teleportation system[1]
Related mods
The mod is intended to be used together with RFTools Power. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib.[1]
How do you get started with RFTools Utility?
3 parts
RFTools Utility is a grab bag of general-purpose blocks: an automatic crafter, an environmental controller, logic blocks, information screens, a spawner system, a multitank and a teleportation system. You don't need all of it at once, so here's the order I'd start in.[1]
Start with the machine parts
Nearly everything in this mod is built on a Machine Base or a Machine Frame, both from RFTools Base, the mod this one depends on. The Screen, Counter, Logic and Sensor use a base, while the Crafter Tier 1, Tank and Matter Transmitter use a frame. Get these parts sorted before anything else.[1][3]
Your first builds
- Make a Screen. Information modules go on a Screen, so it's the best first thing to build. Its recipe is the mod's own.[3][4]
- Make an Energy Screen Module for your Screen. The pack changed this recipe, so go by the one below and not by what you remember from the mod.[3]
- Make a Machine Information Screen Module to monitor a machine on your Screen. Sneak right-click a supported block to set the target for the module. It only works with machines that support this system.[3][4]
- Make a Crafter Tier 1 to start on automatic crafting. This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.[1][3]

Once the basics are running
The wireless redstone gear is a good next step. The Redstone Transmitter and Redstone Receiver both have pack-changed recipes. Right-click either one with a Redstone Module to add its channel to that module, which you can then use in the Tablet to view and control wireless redstone.[3][4]

How does RFTools Utility work?
4 parts
RFTools Utility is a grab bag of general-purpose machines. It covers an automatic crafter, the environmental controller, logic blocks, information screens, a spawner system, a multitank and a teleportation system. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and it's meant to be used together with RFTools Power.[1]
The sources I have only explain a few of these systems in detail, so this section sticks to what they confirm: how the information screen modules get linked to things, and which crafting recipes the pack has changed.[1][3][4]
Information screens and modules
Screens are driven by modules. The Machine Information Screen Module lets a screen monitor a machine, but only machines that support this system. To link it, sneak and right-click the supported block to set the module's target.[4]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own.
There is also a redstone information module for the Tablet. You right-click a redstone transmitter or receiver to add that channel to the module, and then you can view and control wireless redstone from the Tablet.[4]
The pack includes several other screen modules: Button Screen Module, Clock Screen Module, Counter Screen Module, Energy Screen Module, Fluid Screen Module and Inventory Screen Module. The pack changed the recipes for all of these.[3]
The counter, energy, fluid and inventory modules each have a Plus version: Counter Plus Screen Module, Energy Plus Screen Module, Fluid Plus Screen Module and Inventory Plus Screen Module. Those Plus recipes are the mod's own, not pack changes.[3]

Logic blocks
The logic side of the mod includes the Logic, Analog, Counter, Digit and Inventory Checker. The pack changed the recipe for every one of them, so don't rely on recipes from older RFTools videos or guides.[3]

Crafting and the environment

Teleportation and matter transfer
The mod includes a teleportation system. In this pack, the Charged Porter, Dialing Device and Destination Analyzer all have changed recipes. The Matter Beamer and Matter Booster are changed too.[1][3]
The Plus upgrades for the Haste and Featherfalling modules have their own recipes. The Haste+ Module one is changed by the pack, while Featherfalling+ Module uses the mod's recipe.[3]

Unverified Values for this mod would be set in its config files, and the sources here do not show them, so I can't confirm any numbers such as power use or machine limits.
How do you progress through RFTools Utility?
5 parts
In this pack, your progression with RFTools Utility follows the recipes: you build up through chains of upgrades. Most of the logic and teleport gear has a pack-adjusted recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from other modpacks.[3]
Unverified The sources here show no quests in this pack that involve RFTools Utility, so there is no quest chapter to set the order. The order below follows the recipe chains instead.
Screens and redstone logic
Start with the Screen, which still uses the mod's own recipe. Next come the small redstone parts, all with pack-changed recipes: Logic, Sequencer, Timer, Counter, Wire, Analog, Sensor, Inventory Checker and Digit.[3]

The pack changed this recipe, and the Plus version below upgrades it.
The Plus versions are the next step up. Energy Plus Screen Module, Fluid Plus Screen Module, Inventory Plus Screen Module and Counter Plus Screen Module each upgrade the matching basic module, and these use the mod's own recipes.[3]

Crafters and tanks

Teleportation
The whole teleport network has pack-changed recipes: Matter Transmitter, Matter Receiver, Dialing Device, Simple Dialer, Destination Analyzer, Matter Booster and Matter Beamer. The same goes for the redstone link pair, Redstone Transmitter and Redstone Receiver, and for Screen Controller and Screen Link.[3]

How does RFTools Utility work with other mods?
5 parts
RFTools Utility's links to other mods show up in crafting recipes. The biggest connection is its sibling mod RFTools Base. RFTools Utility depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and it is meant to be used together with RFTools Power.[1]
RFTools Base is the backbone
Every machine and logic block in the recipes here is built on Machine Base or Machine Frame, both from RFTools Base. Small logic blocks like the Wire, Digit and Analog use the Machine Base. Bigger machines like the Tank, Crafter Tier 1 and Spawner use the Machine Frame.[3]
Redstone and logic blocks
The logic blocks combine RFTools Base parts with vanilla redstone components. The pack changed these recipes: Logic, Sequencer, Timer, Counter, Sensor and Inventory Checker. Don't assume the original mod recipes apply here.[3]

Teleportation
The teleportation machines have pack-changed recipes as well. That covers the Matter Transmitter, Matter Receiver, Dialing Device, Destination Analyzer, Simple Dialer, Matter Beamer and Matter Booster. The transmitter and receiver take their ender pearls from a common item tag.[3]

Player modules
The module line is where RFTools Base shows up most. The Module Template uses the Dimensional Shard and Infused Diamond. The ModulePlus Template adds the Infused Enderpearl. Plus modules such as Speed+ Module and Regeneration+ Module build on that template, their base module and one vanilla item.[3]
The Flight Module, Peaceful Module and Waterbreathing Module are rewritten by the pack through KubeJS recipes. They all start from the ModulePlus Template. The Haste+ Module recipe is changed by the pack too.[3]

Spawner and environment
The Spawner and the Environmental Controller both have pack-changed recipes. The spawner draws on common tags for bones, blaze rods and ender pearls. The environmental controller uses ender pearls and several storage blocks from the common tags.[3]
