What is RFTools Utility?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
RFTools Utility is the 1.14+ version of the original RFTools, a collection of general tools and utilities. Its project page describes it as the home for RFTools blocks that don't fit a more specific category.[1]
This pack includes version 1.21-7.0.12 of the mod.[2]
What's inside
According to the mod's project page, it contains these blocks and tools:[1]
- Automatic crafter[1]
- Environmental controller[1]
- Logic blocks[1]
- Information screens[1]
- Spawner system[1]
- Multitank[1]
- Teleportation system[1]
Related mods
The mod is intended to be used together with RFTools Power. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib.[1]
How do you get started with RFTools Utility?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
RFTools Utility is a grab bag of general-purpose blocks: an automatic crafter, an environmental controller, logic blocks, information screens, a spawner system, a multitank and a teleportation system. You don't need all of it at once, so here's the order I'd start in.[1]
Start with the machine parts
Nearly everything in this mod is built on a Machine Base or a Machine Frame, both from RFTools Base, the mod this one depends on. The Screen, Counter, Logic and Sensor use a base, while the Crafter Tier 1, Tank and Matter Transmitter use a frame. Get these parts sorted before anything else.[1][3]
Your first builds
- Make a Screen. Information modules go on a Screen, so it's the best first thing to build. Its recipe is the mod's own.[3][4]
- Make an Energy Screen Module for your Screen. The pack changed this recipe, so go by the one below and not by what you remember from the mod.[3]
- Make a Machine Information Screen Module to monitor a machine on your Screen. Sneak right-click a supported block to set the target for the module. It only works with machines that support this system.[3][4]
- Make a Crafter Tier 1 to start on automatic crafting. This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.[1][3]

Once the basics are running
The wireless redstone gear is a good next step. The Redstone Transmitter and Redstone Receiver both have pack-changed recipes. Right-click either one with a Redstone Module to add its channel to that module, which you can then use in the Tablet to view and control wireless redstone.[3][4]

How does RFTools Utility work?
5 parts
RFTools Utility is a grab bag of general-purpose machines: an automatic crafter, the environmental controller, logic blocks, information screens, a spawner system, a multitank and a teleportation system. Below I walk through the parts the sources actually explain.[1]
Automatic crafter
The crafter comes in three tiers. Tier 1 handles up to 2 recipes at once, Tier 2 handles up to 4 and Tier 3 handles up to 8. On every tier, a recipe can use the crafting results of previous steps, so a later recipe can build on the output of an earlier one. An infusing bonus reduces the crafter's power consumption.[5]

Crafter Tier 1 uses the mod's own recipe, unchanged in this pack.
Environmental controller
The Environmental Controller applies effects to a large area. The effects come from the modules used in it, and an infusing bonus lowers its power consumption. The pack changed its recipe.[5][6]

The module descriptions tell you what each one does:[5]
- Flight Module gives creative-type flying capabilities.[5]
- Featherfalling Module halves fall damage, while Featherfalling+ Module reduces it to zero.[5]
- Blindness Module gives blindness, and its tooltip warns that it only works on mobs (see config).[5]
- The effect modules above have a "Uses:" line in their tooltips for their power use, so check it before you stack several in one controller.[5]
The pack rewrote several of these module recipes in a script, including Flight, Blindness, Featherfalling and Haste. The Haste+ recipe is also changed by the pack, while Featherfalling+ keeps the mod's own recipe.[6][7]

Logic blocks
The Counter counts redstone pulses up to a maximum you set. When it reaches that maximum, it sends out a redstone pulse of its own.[5]
The Analog does simple calculations on an input redstone signal, based on two side inputs. The Digit shows the strength of the redstone signal going into it. The pack changed the recipes for all three of these.[5][6]

Screens and modules
The Screen is modular, so on its own it shows nothing. You have to insert modules to choose what it displays. The Creative Screen works the same way but needs no power.[5]
- Counter Screen Module and Counter Plus Screen Module display the current count of a Counter block. Sneak right-click a counter to set the target.[5]
- Clock Screen Module displays the current time.[5]
- Button Screen Module sends a redstone signal when it is pressed on the screen.[5]
- The Energy Screen Module shows the energy status of a block. Sneak right-click a machine to set its target. The Fluid Screen Module is pointed at a tank the same way.[5]
The pack changed the recipes for the button and clock modules. The counter plus module keeps the mod's own recipe.[6]

Teleportation
The Charged Porter is an RF-charged item that teleports you to a matter receiver you set beforehand. Sneak right-click a receiver to set the destination, then right-click to teleport. The Advanced Charged Porter has the same description. The pack changed the Charged Porter recipe, and the advanced version is crafted from a Charged Porter.[5][6]

For fixed teleporters, the Dialing Device lets you dial any nearby matter transmitter up to any matter receiver in the Minecraft universe. This costs power, and an infusing bonus reduces the consumption. Put a Destination Analyzer next to the dialing device and you can check whether the destination has enough power to be safe.[5]
How do you progress through RFTools Utility?
6 parts
Here is how the items of this mod group together in the pack, and which of their recipes the pack changed from the mod's defaults. Where a recipe is the mod's own, I say so. Where the pack changed it, trust the in-pack recipe shown on the page rather than recipes you remember from other packs.[6]
Logic blocks and sensors
The logic pieces are Wire, Logic, Analog, Digit, Counter, Sensor and Inventory Checker. The pack changed every one of these recipes.[6]
Screens and screen modules
The Screen keeps the mod's own recipe, shown below. The Screen Controller and Screen Link are pack-changed.[6]

The basic screen modules are all pack-changed: Text Screen Module, Clock Screen Module, Energy Screen Module, Fluid Screen Module, Inventory Screen Module, Counter Screen Module, Redstone Screen Module, Button Screen Module, Machine Information Screen Module and Redstone Module.[6]
The Plus versions are Energy Plus Screen Module, Fluid Plus Screen Module, Inventory Plus Screen Module and Counter Plus Screen Module. Each is an upgrade of the matching basic module, and they use the mod's own recipes, unchanged by the pack.[6]
Crafters
Crafter Tier 1, Crafter Tier 2 and Crafter Tier 3 all keep the mod's own recipes, shown below.[6]

Teleportation and redstone links
Teleportation centres on the Matter Transmitter and Matter Receiver. The Dialing Device, Destination Analyzer, Matter Booster and Matter Beamer support them. The pack changed all of these recipes.[6]
For portable teleporting, the Charged Porter has a pack-changed recipe, while the Advanced Charged Porter keeps the mod's own recipe. Both are shown below. For wireless redstone there are the Redstone Transmitter and Redstone Receiver, both pack-changed.[6]

Templates, syringes and effect modules
The player-effect modules come in two groups: those based on the Module Template and those based on its upgrade, the ModulePlus Template. Both template recipes are the mod's own and are shown below. In the pack's script, each effect module also takes a Syringe filled to level 10 with a specific mob. The syringe keeps the mod's own recipe.[6][7]

- Luck Module: cat[7]
- Nightvision Module: drowned[7]
- Poison Module: cave spider[7]
- Regeneration Module: witch[7]
- Saturation Module: zombie[7]
- Speed Module: wolf[7]
These modules use the ModulePlus Template instead, again with their own mob syringe:[7]

- Noteleport Module: enderman[7]
- Peaceful Module: iron golem[7]
- Waterbreathing Module: guardian[7]

How does RFTools Utility work with other mods?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
RFTools Utility's links to other mods show up in crafting recipes. The biggest connection is its sibling mod RFTools Base. RFTools Utility depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and it is meant to be used together with RFTools Power.[1]
RFTools Base is the backbone
Every machine and logic block in the recipes here is built on Machine Base or Machine Frame, both from RFTools Base. Small logic blocks like the Wire, Digit and Analog use the Machine Base. Bigger machines like the Tank, Crafter Tier 1 and Spawner use the Machine Frame.[3]
Redstone and logic blocks
The logic blocks combine RFTools Base parts with vanilla redstone components. The pack changed these recipes: Logic, Sequencer, Timer, Counter, Sensor and Inventory Checker. Don't assume the original mod recipes apply here.[3]

Teleportation
The teleportation machines have pack-changed recipes as well. That covers the Matter Transmitter, Matter Receiver, Dialing Device, Destination Analyzer, Simple Dialer, Matter Beamer and Matter Booster. The transmitter and receiver take their ender pearls from a common item tag.[3]

Player modules
The module line is where RFTools Base shows up most. The Module Template uses the Dimensional Shard and Infused Diamond. The ModulePlus Template adds the Infused Enderpearl. Plus modules such as Speed+ Module and Regeneration+ Module build on that template, their base module and one vanilla item.[3]
The Flight Module, Peaceful Module and Waterbreathing Module are rewritten by the pack through KubeJS recipes. They all start from the ModulePlus Template. The Haste+ Module recipe is changed by the pack too.[3]

Spawner and environment
The Spawner and the Environmental Controller both have pack-changed recipes. The spawner draws on common tags for bones, blaze rods and ender pearls. The environmental controller uses ender pearls and several storage blocks from the common tags.[3]

What changed in RFTools Utility between versions?
All the Mons 1.3.0 includes RFTools Utility version 1.21-7.0.12. The pack's mod list says it was first included in All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[8]
The mod's own changelog for 1.21-7.0.12 lists one change: the Patchouli manual documentation was updated and expanded.[9]
Unverified Changes the pack itself made to this mod between releases would be recorded in the pack changelogs. The sources here have no pack changelog entries for RFTools Utility, so none are listed.
