Iron Jetpacks is a mod in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.1.0, where it is version 8.0.11. A fully customizable Forge Energy (FE) based jetpacks mod! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Iron Jetpacks?

2 parts

Iron Jetpacks gives you jetpacks that run on Forge Energy (FE), so they work with the other energy mods in the pack. Every jetpack stat is configurable, and the mod comes with a default set of jetpacks made from vanilla and modded materials.[1]

This pack includes Iron Jetpacks 8.0.11. If you like getting around fast and don't want to depend on elytra, this is the mod for you.[2]

How they work

The Jetpack comes in many tiers, from a Wood Jetpack up to a Creative Jetpack. The quest says every version works the same way. You can wear one in your chestplate slot, as a back Curio, or in the Curio slot. The mod also has a built-in HUD that shows your energy, engine, hover and throttle stats.[1][3]

Jetpacks need FE to fly, and you can charge them with any item charger. If you run out of energy in the air, you drop.[3]

  • Engine: turn it on with V, then hold Space to fly up. You fall when you let go.[3]
  • Hover: it has no default key. When it's on, you stay at the same altitude. Space takes you higher and Shift takes you lower.[3]
  • Throttle: press comma to decrease it and period to increase it (default keys), which changes how fast you fly.[1][3]

Where it fits in the pack

The Tips and Tricks quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest introduces the mod and tells you to start with a Wood Jetpack and upgrade from there.[3]

The jetpack also appears in the Chapter 5: Creative Items quest a quest in "Chapter 5: Creative Items", which comes after the Beginning Of The End quest and is described as "You can really zoom with this one".[4]

Unverified The sources do not place Iron Jetpacks on the ATM Star quest path, so treat it as an optional upgrade for getting around rather than a required step.

How do you get started with Iron Jetpacks?

4 parts

Iron Jetpacks gives you a whole ladder of jetpacks. The pack's own quest tells you where to start: with a Wood Jetpack, which can be upgraded all the way up to a Creative Jetpack. The quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest in the Tips and Tricks chapter covers the basics.[3]

Step 1: Craft the basic components

The mod's own components use the normal mod recipes in this pack. Start with the Leather Strap and the Basic Coil.[5]

Step 2: Equip and power your jetpack

  • Wear the jetpack in your chestplate slot or in a Back curio slot.[1][3]
  • Every jetpack needs FE to work, and any item charger can charge it. If you run out of energy mid-flight, you fall.[3]

Step 3: Learn the controls

  1. Turn the engine on with V by default. Then hold Space to fly up, and you drop when you let go.[3]
  2. If you don't like dropping, turn on Hover, which has no default key. It keeps you at the same altitude, with Space to go higher and Shift to go lower.[3]
  3. Adjust your speed with the throttle. The default keys are, to decrease and . to increase.[3]
Tip: The mod has a built-in HUD that shows your energy, engine, hover and throttle status, so you can keep an eye on your charge while flying.[1]

Looking ahead: the creative jetpack

Much later, the quest a quest in "Chapter 5: Creative Items" in the Creative Items chapter, which comes after Beginning Of The End, asks for a jetpack. The pack adds its own recipe for the creative-tier jetpack, so treat it as a late-game goal and not a first step.[4][5]

How does Iron Jetpacks work?

3 parts

Iron Jetpacks is a jetpack mod powered by Forge Energy (FE). It also has Curios support, so you can equip your jetpack as a Curio.[1]

Flying and the HUD

You get throttle controls, so you can change your aerial movement speed on the fly. A built-in HUD shows your current energy, engine, hover and throttle stats while you fly.[1]

Jetpack tooltips list the stats that define how each one flies:[6]

  • Horizontal Speed[6]
  • Vertical Acceleration[6]
  • Hover Ascend Speed and Hover Descend Speed[6]
  • Sprint Fuel Modifier and Sprint Vertical Multiplier[6]

The mod lets every jetpack stat and attribute be configured, and it ships a set of default jetpacks made from vanilla and modded materials.[1]

The parts you craft

The mod has a Jetpack, a Thruster, a Capacitor and an Cell. On top of those there are crafting parts: the Leather Strap and the Basic, Advanced, Elite and Ultimate coils.[6]

The leather strap is crafted like this:[5]

How do you progress through Iron Jetpacks?

3 parts

The pack's quest for Iron Jetpacks tells you where to begin: you start with a Wood Jetpack and upgrade it all the way up to a Creative Jetpack. The quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest in the Tips and Tricks chapter walks you through the basics.[3]

How every tier works

The quest says every version of the Jetpack works the same way. You can wear one in the Chestplate slot, the Back Curio slot, or the Curio Curio slot. Every jetpack runs on FE, and any item charger will charge it. If you run out of energy mid-flight, you drop.[3]

  • Turn your Engine on with V, then hold Space to fly up. You fall as soon as you let go.[3]
  • Hover has no default key. When it is on, you stay at the same altitude, Space takes you higher and Shift takes you lower.[3]
  • Throttle sets how fast you fly. By default, the comma key decreases it and the full stop key increases it.[3]

The pack's quest book also has a quest for the jetpack in Chapter 5: Creative Items, a quest in "Chapter 5: Creative Items", which comes after the Beginning Of The End quest. Its description reads "You can really zoom with this one", and its task is to obtain the Jetpack.[4]

How does Iron Jetpacks work with other mods?

2 parts

Iron Jetpacks is powered by Forge Energy (FE), which is what gives it broad compatibility with other mods' energy gear. The quest book says any Item Charger can charge your jetpack.[1][3]

The clearest in-pack link to other mods is the set of Creative-tier recipes. The pack adds them with KubeJS, and each one mixes an Iron Jetpacks part with items from other mods. Every one of them also needs a Block of Unobtainium.[5]

Creative-tier crafting

The Creative Jetpack pulls in the ATM Star and Insanium Essence from Mystical Agriculture Additions.[5]

The Creative Thruster mixes in the Unobtainium Furnace from Iron Furnaces and the Block Of Nitro Crystal from Powah.[5]

The Creative Cell uses the Battery (Nitro) from Powah, plus a redstone storage block. The recipe accepts any block from the shared redstone storage block tag.[5]

The Creative Capacitor is where Mekanism and Powah meet Iron Jetpacks: SPS Casing and Ultimate Induction Cell come from Mekanism, and Reactor (Nitro) comes from Powah. The recipe below shows the exact in-pack layout.[5]

Quests

The quest a quest in "Chapter 5: Creative Items" in the Creative Items chapter has a jetpack as its task. It comes after Beginning Of The End. For the basics, such as where the jetpack can be equipped and how the engine, hover and throttle controls work, check the Tips and Tricks quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest.[3][4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Iron Jetpacks?

2 parts

Iron Jetpacks shows up in two places in the pack's quest book. Both quests ask you to obtain the same thing, a Jetpack. One is a how-to guide and the other is a milestone in the late-game creative items chapter.[3][4]

Tips and Tricks: Iron Jetpacks

The quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest sits in the Tips and Tricks chapter. Its task is to get a jetpack. The quest text works as a mini tutorial, and it tells you to start with a Wood Jetpack, which can be upgraded all the way to a Creative Jetpack.[3]

Here is what the quest tells you about using them:[3]

  • Every tier works the same way. You can wear one in the chestplate slot or in the Back Curio slot.[3]
  • All of them need FE to work, and any Item Charger can charge them. If you run out of energy, you drop.[3]
  • To fly, turn on your Engine with V, then hold Space to go up. You drop when you let go.[3]
  • If you don't like dropping, turn on Hover, which has no default key. You then stay at the same altitude, go higher with Space and lower with Shift.[3]
  • Change your Throttle to adjust your speed. By default, comma decreases it and period increases it.[3]

Chapter 5: Creative Items

The quest a quest in "Chapter 5: Creative Items" is in Chapter 5: Creative Items. It has no title in the quest book, and its description reads "You can really zoom with this one." The task is again to obtain a Jetpack. It unlocks after the quest Beginning Of The End.[4]

Unverified The sources don't say which jetpack tier either quest checks for, since the task is listed only as the jetpack item. They also don't say which of the two quests you will meet first in a normal playthrough.

What changed in Iron Jetpacks between versions?

2 parts

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships with Iron Jetpacks 8.0.11 for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier, so you've had jetpacks for a long time.[2]

8.0.11 (the version in 2.0.4)

  • Updated zh_cn translations. This is the only change in this release, so nothing about how the jetpacks play has changed.[7]

8.0.10

This one has a few changes you'll actually notice in play:[8]

  • Improved jetpack sound looping.[8]
  • Fixed the jetpack component ingredient not working with charged jetpacks.[8]
  • Fixed energy tooltip colors being inconsistent.[8]
  • Updated pt_br translations.[8]
