What is Iron Jetpacks?

2 parts

Iron Jetpacks adds jetpacks that run on Forge Energy (FE), so they work with the energy tools and chargers you already use in modded Minecraft. The mod comes with a set of default jetpacks made from a mix of vanilla and modded materials, and every stat and attribute is configurable. This pack runs version 8.0.11 for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1][2]

If you want to get around fast and see the world from above, this mod is for you. The mod also has a built-in HUD that shows your current energy, engine, hover and throttle stats, and it supports Curios, so you can wear a jetpack as a Curio.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack covers jetpacks in the Tips and Tricks quest chapter, with the quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest. It tells you to start with a Wood Jetpack and upgrade it all the way to a Creative Jetpack. The tiers all work the same way. The quest task is the Jetpack.[3]

You can wear a jetpack in the chestplate slot, in the Back Curio slot, or in the Curio Curio slot. Jetpacks need FE to fly, and the quest says any Item Charger can charge them. If you run out of energy mid-flight, you drop.[3]

Flying basics

  • Turn on your Engine with V, then hold Space to fly up. You drop when you let go.[3]
  • Hover is unbound by default. When it is on, you stay at the same altitude, go higher with Space and lower with Shift.[3]
  • Throttle sets how fast you fly. By default, comma decreases it and period increases it.[1][3]

Unverified The sources do not show whether this pack changes any jetpack stats, tiers or recipes from the mod's defaults, so check the in-game values before you plan around them. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Iron Jetpacks?

4 parts

Jetpacks are a beloved way of getting around in this pack. The quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest in the Tips and Tricks chapter tells you where to begin: start with a Wood Jetpack, which can be upgraded all the way to a Creative Jetpack. The versions all work the same way, so the early ones teach you the controls for all of them.[3]

Craft the basic parts

The mod has its own recipes for the Leather Strap and for a series of coils: Basic Coil, Advanced Coil, Elite Coil and Ultimate Coil. Start with the strap and the Basic Coil.[4]

Equip and power your jetpack

  1. Put the jetpack in your Chestplate Slot, or in a Back Curio or Curio Curio slot.[3]
  2. Charge it with FE. Any Item Charger will do the job, since every jetpack needs FE to work.[1][3]
  3. Fly carefully: the jetpack uses FE to fly, and you will drop if you run out of energy.[3]

Learn the controls

  • Turn on your Engine with V, then hold Space to fly up. You drop when you let go.[3]
  • If you don't like dropping, turn on Hover (unbound by default). You then stay at the same altitude, go higher with Space and lower with Shift.[3]
  • Change your Throttle to adjust how fast you fly. Decrease it with, and increase it with . by default.[3]
  • The built-in HUD shows your current energy, engine, hover and throttle stats.[1]
Tip: Hover is unbound by default, so bind a key for it as soon as you pick up your first jetpack. Then you can stay at one altitude instead of dropping every time you let go of Space.[3]

Looking ahead: Creative parts

The end of the upgrade path is the Creative Jetpack. The pack adds its own recipe for the Creative Jetpack, and also for the Creative Thruster, Cell and Capacitor.[3][4]

How does Iron Jetpacks work?

4 parts

Iron Jetpacks runs on Forge Energy (FE), so your jetpack draws power the same way the rest of your modded machines do. The mod page also says you can equip a jetpack as a Curio.[1]

Flying and throttle

Throttle controls let you change your aerial movement speed on the fly. A built-in HUD shows your current energy, engine, hover and throttle stats, so keep an eye on it while you fly.[1]

The mod's tooltips list the stats that shape how a jetpack flies. These are the ones it displays:[5]

  • Horizontal Speed[5]
  • Vertical Acceleration[5]
  • Hover Ascend Speed and Hover Descend Speed[5]
  • Sprint Fuel Modifier and Sprint Vertical Multiplier[5]

The mod page says all jetpack stats are fully configurable, and that the mod ships a default set of jetpacks made from vanilla and modded materials.[1]

Unverified The exact stat values and energy capacities of each jetpack in this pack are not shown by the sources here. Jetpack stats are configurable in the mod, so check the in-game tooltip for the real numbers.

The parts

The mod's part items are the Jetpack, the Thruster, the Cell (an energy cell) and the Capacitor. Each one is named after a material, shown in the item name. There is also the Leather Strap, a Leather Strap.[5]

Crafting the basics

The strap and the coils are ordinary crafting table recipes from the mod. The coils go from the Basic Coil through the Advanced Coil and the Elite Coil up to the Ultimate Coil.[4][5]

Pack-added recipes

The pack adds its own crafting recipes for a jetpack, a thruster, an energy cell and a capacitor. Their recipe ids contain the word "creative", and they use materials from other mods. These recipes come from the pack, not from the mod itself.[4]

How do you progress through Iron Jetpacks?

3 parts

The pack's quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest sets the path for Iron Jetpacks: you start with a Wood Jetpack and upgrade it all the way to a Creative Jetpack. The quest says there are many versions, but they all work the same way.[3]

How every tier works

Any Jetpack can go in your Chestplate Slot, your Back Curio, or the Curio Curio slot. All of them run on FE, and the quest says any Item Charger can charge them. If you run out of energy mid-flight, you drop.[3]

  • Turn your Engine on with V, then hold Space to fly up. You fall when you let go.[3]
  • Hover is unbound by default. When it's on, you stay at the same altitude. Space takes you higher and Shift takes you lower.[3]
  • Throttle sets how fast you fly. By default, comma decreases it and period increases it.[3]

Crafting parts: straps and coils

The mod's own recipes cover the basic parts. The Leather Strap is a mod recipe, and so are the coils: Basic Coil, Advanced Coil, Elite Coil and Ultimate Coil. Here is each one as the pack has it.[4]

How does Iron Jetpacks work with other mods?

5 parts

Iron Jetpacks connects to the rest of the pack mainly through its top-tier gear. The pack adds crafting recipes, with ids marked creative, for the Jetpack, Thruster, Cell and Capacitor. Each one needs items from other mods, so the endgame jetpack is a real cross-mod project.[4]

Every one of these recipes uses the Block of Unobtainium. Around it, each recipe pulls in parts from other mods. They are pack-added recipes, so you won't find them in the mod on its own. The exact in-pack versions are below.[4]

Creative Jetpack

The in-pack quest says jetpacks can be upgraded all the way to a Creative Jetpack. This recipe is the pack's cross-mod crafting route for the jetpack, using the ATM Star and Insanium Essence alongside the Unobtainium Block.[3][4]

Creative Thruster

The thruster recipe combines the Unobtainium Block with an Unobtainium Furnace and a Block Of Nitro Crystal.[4]

Creative Energy Cell

The cell recipe uses a Battery (Nitro) and accepts any redstone storage block, so you aren't tied to one mod's version of it.[4]

Creative Capacitor

The capacitor recipe draws on Mekanism and Powah: an SPS Casing, an Ultimate Induction Cell and a Reactor (Nitro).[4]

Energy and charging

Iron Jetpacks runs on Forge Energy (FE), which is why it works with other mods' power systems. The in-pack quest says every jetpack needs FE to fly, and that you can charge them with any item charger. If you run out of energy, you drop.[1][3]

You can also equip a jetpack as a Curio. The quest lists a Back Curio option alongside the chestplate slot. For the full controls, see the quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest.[1][3]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Iron Jetpacks?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.8 guide

Iron Jetpacks has just one quest in this pack, and it sits in the "Tips and Tricks" chapter. Because it's the only one, there's no order to follow. It's more of a how-to guide than a progression step.[6]

Iron Jetpacks (Tips and Tricks)

The quest "Iron Jetpacks" quest has a single task: submit a Jetpack. Its text tells you to start with a Wood Jetpack, which can be upgraded all the way to a Creative Jetpack. It also says that every version works the same way.[6]

The quest text covers the basics of using a jetpack:[6]

  • Where to wear it: your Chestplate Slot, or a Back Curio, or a Curio Curio.[6]
  • Power: every jetpack needs FE, and any Item Charger can charge it. If you run out of energy mid-flight, you drop.[6]
  • Flying: turn on your Engine with V, then hold Space to rise. You fall when you let go.[6]
  • Hover: this is unbound by default. When it's on, you stay at the same altitude. Space takes you higher and Shift takes you lower.[6]
  • Speed: change your Throttle. Decrease it with the comma key and increase it with the period key (both defaults).[6]
Tip: Hover has no default key, so you'll need to bind it in your controls before you can use it. It's worth doing if you don't like dropping when you let go of Space.[6]

What changed in Iron Jetpacks between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.6.1 ships with Iron Jetpacks 8.0.11 for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier, so you've had jetpacks from the very start.[2]

Recent mod releases

  • 8.0.11: a small release that only updates the zh_cn translations. This is the version in the pack right now.[2][7]
  • 8.0.10: updates the pt_br translations and improves jetpack sound looping.[8]
  • 8.0.10: fixes the jetpack component ingredient not working with charged jetpacks. If a charged jetpack wouldn't work in a recipe before, that is the fix.[8]
  • 8.0.10: fixes energy tooltip colors being inconsistent.[8]

Nothing in the sources shows the pack changing Iron Jetpacks values or recipes between releases, and there are no pack changelog entries for this mod. These notes come from the mod's own changelogs.[2][7][8]
