What is Dyenamics and Friends?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Dyenamics and Friends is part of the pack. This version of the pack ships version 1.21.1-2.2.2 of the mod. It has been in the pack since version 2.47 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what the mod adds, who it's aimed at, or where it fits into the pack's progression. I've left those details out rather than guess. No quest or ATM Star path connection is confirmed either.

How do you get started with Dyenamics and Friends?

3 parts

Dyenamics and Friends adds Dyenamics colours to blocks from other mods in this pack. The recipes shown cover botany pots, elevators, Create seats, kitchen floors, petrified honey, foundry parts and fire bricks. It also adds painted planks, slabs and stairs for Regions Unexplored. Every recipe shown is added by the pack, so the crafting steps below are this pack's own.[2][3]

I'll use amber as the example colour. Aquamarine has matching recipes for the same items, so you can follow the same steps for it.[2]

Where to start

  1. Pick a colour and get its materials first. The recipes shown are built from Dyenamics blocks such as terracotta, concrete, glazed terracotta and wool, or from dyes of that colour.[2]
  2. Make a coloured botany pot. It is the simplest recipe here, and it gives you Amber Botany Pot. Concrete and glazed terracotta versions exist too.[2]
  3. Upgrade the pot if you want. Hopper and waxed versions are both made starting from the finished pot.[2]
  4. Dye your existing machine blocks. The foundry parts, fire bricks, petrified honey and kitchen floors are made by combining a dye of that colour with the plain version of the block.[2]

Dyeing your base

The foundry parts follow one pattern. The drain, tank, window, capacitor and controller each have their own dye recipe. The pack accepts any dye of that colour with any block from the matching Productive Metalworks group. For example, Amber Foundry Controller is made from a plain controller plus amber dye.[2]

Seats and elevators

Amber Seat can be built from scratch, or you can recolour a seat you already have with dye, which is handy if you've built a lot of them. Amber Elevator has its own separate recipe that uses an Ender Pearl.[2]

How does Dyenamics and Friends work?

4 parts

The sources here show no machines, multiblocks or power system belonging to Dyenamics and Friends itself. In this pack the mod adds Dyenamics-colored versions of blocks from other mods. The item ids carry the host mod's name, so you can tell where each one belongs: Botany Pots, Create, Elevator, Productive Bees, Productive Metalworks and Cooking for Blockheads. The examples below all use Amber, because that is the color the pack's recipe dump shows.[2]

The sources do not describe how these variants handle power, fluids or items, so this section sticks to how you get them.[2]

Botany pots

Botany pots come in terracotta, glazed terracotta and concrete versions. The Amber concrete one is Amber Concrete Botany Pot, and the glazed one is Amber Glazed Botany Pot. The pack adds these recipes itself.[2]

Foundry parts

The Productive Metalworks foundry parts have Amber versions: Amber Foundry Controller, Amber Foundry Tank, Amber Foundry Drain, Amber Foundry Window, Amber Foundry Capacitor and Amber Fire Bricks. They are recolors: the recipes take an existing part of the same kind from a Productive Metalworks tag, plus Amber dye.[2]

Painted planks and the chalk box

The mod's language file lists painted planks, stairs and slabs in colors such as Amber, Lavender and Ultramarine, along with a resource pack entry named for Regions Unexplored. It also has a chalk box tooltip saying that box works with Dyenamics dyes.[3]

How do you progress through Dyenamics and Friends?

2 parts

Dyenamics and Friends doesn't have a tier ladder in the usual sense. It adds Amber and Aquamarine variants of blocks from other mods, and every recipe for them is added by the pack. The closest thing to progression is the botany pot family. Everything else is a side-step you can take whenever you already own the base block.[2]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve the mod, so the sources here show no quest-driven order to follow, and the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path.

Botany pot upgrade path

Amber and Aquamarine each come in three pot materials: terracotta, glazed terracotta and concrete. Each material has a plain pot, a hopper pot and a waxed pot. For Amber the plain pots are Amber Botany Pot, Amber Glazed Botany Pot and Amber Concrete Botany Pot. Aquamarine has the same set.[2]

Step 1: the plain Amber Botany Pot. The glazed terracotta and concrete pots have their own recipes of the same kind.

From the plain pot you can branch two ways. The hopper version, such as Amber Hopper Botany Pot, can be made by upgrading a finished pot. There is also a compact recipe that makes the hopper pot in a single craft, so you can skip the plain pot.[2]

Tip: The hopper and waxed pots are both made from the plain pot, not from each other. Craft the plain pot first unless you already know you want the hopper version, in which case use the compact recipe.[2]

Recolor crafts

Most of the other items are recolors of blocks from other mods. They don't depend on each other, so you can craft them in any order.[2]

How does Dyenamics and Friends work with other mods?

4 parts

Dyenamics and Friends is the glue between the Dyenamics colors and other mods in this pack. Every in-pack recipe for it gives you a Dyenamics-colored version of another mod's block or item, and all of those recipes are added by the pack. For most blocks the extra colors are Amber and Aquamarine. Connecting glass gets a much longer list of colors.[2]

Botany pots

You can make Amber and Aquamarine versions of the Botany Pots planters in terracotta, glazed terracotta and concrete. Each material comes as a plain pot and as a hopper pot. Examples are Amber Botany Pot and Aquamarine Concrete Hopper Botany Pot. The hopper versions have their own recipes, labeled "compact hopper" in the recipe ids.[2]

Connecting glass

This is the biggest integration. Connecting Glass has colored versions for many Dyenamics colors: Amber, Aquamarine, Bubblegum, Cherenkov, Conifer, Fluorescent, Honey, Icy Blue, Lavender, Maroon, Mint, Navy and Peach. Both full blocks and panes are covered, for example Connecting Bubblegum Stained Glass and Connecting Navy Stained Glass Pane.[2]

Each connecting glass block and pane can be made in either of two ways. One recipe converts the matching Dyenamics stained glass (or stained glass pane). The other starts from plain Connecting Glass or Connecting Glass Pane plus a dye of the right color. Use whichever you have on hand.[2]
