What is Dyenamics and Friends?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Dyenamics and Friends is part of the pack. This version of the pack ships version 1.21.1-2.2.2 of the mod. It has been in the pack since version 2.47 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what the mod adds, who it's aimed at, or where it fits into the pack's progression. I've left those details out rather than guess. No quest or ATM Star path connection is confirmed either.

How do you get started with Dyenamics and Friends?

5 parts

Dyenamics and Friends adds Dyenamics colours to items from other mods in the pack. You get things like coloured botany pots, elevators, sleeping bags, hammocks, seats, foundry parts and carved pumpkins. In this pack, the recipes for these items are added by the pack itself.[2]

Start with the coloured base blocks

Many recipes in the pack start from a Dyenamics block such as amber wool, amber terracotta, amber concrete or amber glazed terracotta. Others start from a matching dye. Amber and aquamarine are the colours I can confirm from the recipes shown, and they follow the same pattern. Only part of the recipe list is visible to me, so check the recipe viewer for other colours.[2]

Suggested order

  1. Make a coloured botany pot first. It is the quickest way to see how the mod works, because each pot is built from a Dyenamics block of one colour.[2]
  2. Upgrade that pot if you want. The hopper version and the waxed version both have recipes that start from the plain pot.[2]
  3. Make a coloured sleeping bag or hammock for your base. Both are crafted from the matching coloured wool.[2]
  4. Make a coloured elevator. The recipe exists for both amber and aquamarine.[2]
  5. Recolour your foundry parts and decorations. The foundry tank, window, controller, capacitor, drain and fire bricks all have dye-based recipes, and so do pumpkins and Jack o'Lanterns.[2]

Botany pots

The plain pot is the Amber Botany Pot, Amber Botany Pot. There are also concrete and glazed terracotta versions, such as Amber Concrete Botany Pot and Amber Glazed Botany Pot.[2]

Recolouring foundry parts

Foundry parts such as Amber Foundry Tank are made by combining a dye of the right colour with the matching foundry part. The same is true of the controller, capacitor, drain, window and fire bricks.[2]

How does Dyenamics and Friends work?

3 parts

Here's the honest picture: in this pack, Dyenamics and Friends works as a compatibility layer rather than a machine mod. The items in the recipe dump are dye-colored versions of blocks from other mods, and the item ids carry the original mod's name as a prefix, like botanypots_, productivemetalworks_, elevatorid_ and comforts_. Amber is the color the sources show, so I'll use it as the example throughout.[2]

The recipes shown are all marked as added by the pack, so this is how you get these blocks here.[2]

Foundry parts

The foundry multiblock pieces come in amber: Amber Foundry Controller, Amber Foundry Tank, Amber Foundry Drain, Amber Foundry Window and Amber Foundry Capacitor. There are also Amber Fire Bricks. Each is made by combining amber dye with the matching foundry part, and any item from that part's tag is accepted as the input.[2]

Botany pots

Botany pots come in amber concrete and amber glazed terracotta styles, and each style has plain, hopper and waxed forms. The plain pots are Amber Concrete Botany Pot and Amber Glazed Botany Pot.[2]

Pumpkins work a bit differently. You can dye a carved pumpkin to get Amber Carved Pumpkin, and you can make Amber Jack o'Lantern either by dyeing a jack o'lantern or by lighting the amber carved pumpkin with a torch.[2]

The mod's language file also mentions a chalk box whose tooltip says it works with Dyenamics dyes, plus painted planks, slabs and stairs in a range of colors for the Regions Unexplored woods.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show how the recolored foundry parts and botany pots behave once placed, such as multiblock formation, fluid or item handling, hopper automation or what waxing does. This mod has no in-jar guidebook and no config files in the pack, so those details are not told anywhere I can cite.

How do you progress through Dyenamics and Friends?

3 parts

Dyenamics and Friends doesn't have tiers in the usual sense. It adds dyed versions of items from other mods, and what you can craft depends on which of those mods you have running. The recipes I can show cover Amber and Aquamarine, and every one of them is added by the pack. Everything below follows those in-pack recipes.[2]

Unverified The sources here show no quests involving this mod and no in-jar guidebook for it, so there is no quest-guided progression to follow. The order below comes only from the in-pack recipes.

Start with dyed blocks and wool

Most of the mod starts from the colored blocks of Dyenamics, such as Amber Wool, Amber Terracotta and Aquamarine Concrete, or from a matching dye. Get those first and the rest of the mod opens up.[2]

Wool-based items come first. They include the Amber Sleeping Bag, the Amber Hammock, the Amber Seat and the Amber Elevator. Each color has its own version, for example the Aquamarine Elevator.[2]

The botany pot upgrade chain

The botany pots are the closest thing to a real progression. The base materials are terracotta, glazed terracotta and concrete. Each one gives a base pot, and each base pot can be upgraded into a hopper version or a waxed version. The hopper version also has a direct compact recipe that skips the base pot.[2]

Using Amber Terracotta as the example, you start with the Amber Botany Pot. From there you can make the Amber Hopper Botany Pot or the Amber Waxed Botany Pot.[2]

The glazed and concrete families follow the same pattern, for example the Amber Glazed Botany Pot and the Amber Concrete Botany Pot. Aquamarine has matching pots, such as the Aquamarine Concrete Botany Pot. Pick the material you like the look of, because the upgrade steps are the same.[2]

Recoloring other mods' blocks

The last group of recipes recolors blocks from other mods with a matching dye. In the Productive Metalworks family that means the Amber Fire Bricks, plus the foundry controller, tank, drain, window and capacitor. The foundry parts are made by combining a dye with the matching foundry part.[2]

Amber Foundry TankAdded by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

  • any foundry tank
  • any amber dye

Recipe id: dyenamicsandfriends:amber_foundry_tank_from_dye

The foundry parts all follow this dye pattern.

Pumpkins work the same way. A dye turns a normal pumpkin into the Amber Pumpkin, or a carved pumpkin into the Amber Carved Pumpkin. You can then make the Amber Jack o'Lantern from the carved one with a torch, or recolor an existing jack o'lantern directly with a dye.[2]

There are a few more dye-based items. The Amber Petrified Honey comes from Petrified Honey, and the Amber Kitchen Floor comes from the white Kitchen Floor. You can also recolor an existing Create seat with a dye to get a seat in another color.[2]

Tip: Most of these items are recolors, so you can build your main machines first and dye them later. The dye recipes for foundry parts and fire bricks accept any item from the matching Productive Metalworks tag, so you aren't tied to one specific part.[2]

How does Dyenamics and Friends work with other mods?

4 parts

In this pack, Dyenamics and Friends links the extra Dyenamics colours to items from other mods. Every connecting recipe in the sources is added by the pack itself. The non-glass recipes cover amber and aquamarine, and the connecting glass recipes cover many more colours.[2]

Botany pots

You can craft Botany Pots in Dyenamics block styles: concrete, terracotta and glazed terracotta. Each style has a plain pot and a hopper pot. Examples are Amber Concrete Botany Pot and Aquamarine Glazed Hopper Botany Pot. The hopper versions have their own recipes, named "compact hopper" recipes.[2]

Connecting glass

This is the biggest integration. The recipes cover amber, aquamarine, bubblegum, cherenkov, conifer, fluorescent, honey, icy blue, lavender, maroon, mint and navy, for both full blocks and panes. Peach appears only as a pane in the recipe list: Connecting Peach Stained Glass Pane.[2]

For most colours you can get each connecting glass in either of these ways. Convert the matching Dyenamics stained glass directly, or combine plain Connecting Glass or Connecting Glass Pane with the matching dye. Both routes give the same result, for example Connecting Amber Stained Glass. The sources show only the direct conversion for the peach pane.[2]
