What is AllTheOres?
1 part
AllTheOres is the mod behind the metals you collect all through this pack. This pack includes version 3.1.7 for NeoForge 1.21.1, and it has been part of the pack since version 1.0 or earlier.[1]
You mostly meet it through the quest book. Ingots, dusts and blocks from the mod appear as quest tasks in the Immersive Engineering, Mekanism and The Electric Age chapters, so whichever tech path you follow, you'll be handing in its metals.[2][3][4]
Where the quest book uses it
- Immersive Engineering: this chapter has quests for Electrum Ingot, Bronze Ingot, Constantan Ingot, Brass Ingot and Invar Ingot, each coming after the Alloy Kiln quest. The quest text says electrum is used a ton in electrical parts and constantan quite a bit in heat and metal machines like generators. Bronze, brass and invar get little use in Immersive Engineering. See "Electrum Ingot" quest and "Constantan Ingot" quest.[2]
- Steel in Immersive Engineering: "Steel Ingot" quest asks for a Steel Ingot and comes after the Crude Blast Furnace and Alloy Kiln quests. The big multiblock quests also ask for Steel Block: 9 for the Excavator and 6 for the Arc Furnace.[2]
- Heat: "Warm Items" quest accepts an Uranium Block as one of its options and comes after the Energy from Temperature quest. Its text lists uranium at 2000 K.[2]
- Mekanism: "Osmium" quest asks for an Osmium Ingot and comes after the Mekanism quest. The text says osmium spawns below Y level 56 and is used in many Mekanism machines. The chapter's steel quest, "Steel" quest, comes after the Metallurgic Infuser.[4]
- The Electric Age: this chapter asks for Steel Ingot in two quests, a quest in "The Electric Age" and a quest in "The Electric Age". It also has a short chain that runs from Ruby Dust (a quest in "The Electric Age") to Aluminum Dust (a quest in "The Electric Age") and then Aluminum Ingot (a quest in "The Electric Age").[3]
How do you get started with AllTheOres?
5 parts
In this pack, AllTheOres supplies the metals that quests in Immersive Engineering, Mekanism and other chapters ask for. Your first goals are a hammer, a few basic parts, and then steel. After that come the alloys. Here is the order I'd go in.[2][4][5]
Get a hammer
Many AllTheOres recipes take any item from the ore hammers tag, so a hammer is the first tool to sort out. It turns ores, raw materials and ingots into dusts for metals like aluminum and platinum. It is also used to craft plates and rods.[6]
Iron plates and rods
Iron plates and rods are the first parts you'll want. The Iron Plates quest "Iron Plates" quest asks for Iron Plate and says it doesn't care how you get them. Both the plate and the Iron Rod are crafted with a hammer.[5][6]

Steel
Next comes Steel Ingot, because the quests lean on it so heavily. Immersive Engineering needs steel for almost everything, from tools and mechanical parts to building blocks. Mekanism uses it for machines, tools, upgrades, reactors and energy cells.[2][4]
The pack changed both the Immersive Engineering alloy recipe and the Ender IO alloy smelting recipe for steel, so use these versions.[6]
Alloy (immersiveengineering)
- any iron ingot
- any coal

Alloy Smelting (enderio)
- any iron ingot
- any coal
Recipe id: alltheores:alloy_smelting/steel_ingot

Mekanism has its own route. Infuse iron with 10mB of carbon to get Enriched Iron, infuse it with carbon again to get Steel Dust, then smelt the dust into a Steel Ingot. Coal, charcoal and their variants all supply the carbon.[4]
The alloys
Once steel is flowing, make the other alloys. The pack changed these recipes too. Here is what the Immersive Engineering quests say each one is good for:[2][6]
- Electrum Ingot is used a ton in anything electrical, such as wires, connectors and transformers.[2]
- Constantan Ingot is used quite a bit in Immersive Engineering machines and items that use heat and metal, like generators.[2]
- Bronze Ingot is used a ton in Modern Industrialization, but not much in Immersive Engineering.[2]
- Brass Ingot isn't used for much in Immersive Engineering, and Invar Ingot isn't useful there either.[2]
Alloy (immersiveengineering)
- any gold ingot
- any silver ingot
Recipe id: alltheores:alloysmelter/electrum/ingot

Ores and sulfur
When you go mining, the depth matters. Osmium Ingot comes from ore found between Y -64 and Y 56. Platinum ore sits between Y -64 and Y 36, and uranium ore between Y -64 and Y 16. Sulfur ore is found between Y -64 and Y 25.[4][7]
You can also get Sulfur and Fluorite from an Ex Deorum sieve. The pack added these recipes. Here are the iron mesh versions.[6]

How does AllTheOres work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Here's the honest picture for this section: the sources I have for AllTheOres don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power systems or automation. What they do confirm is where the ores generate, the slurry chemicals the mod adds, and how the pack handles the mod's storage blocks. That's what this section covers.[7][8]
Ore depth ranges
Every ore block in the mod has a tooltip that tells you its height range in the world. The stone, deepslate, Nether, End and "other" variants of an ore all show the same range. Every range starts at Y -64 and only the upper limit changes.[7]
- Aluminum: up to Y 320. Sapphire: up to Y 296.[7]
- Cinnabar, fluorite, ruby and salt: up to Y 228.[7]
- Peridot and tin: up to Y 196. Zinc: up to Y 126.[7]
- Lead, nickel, osmium and silver: up to Y 56.[7]
- Platinum: up to Y 36. Iridium: up to Y 32.[7]
- Sulfur: up to Y 25. Uranium: up to Y 16, the lowest ceiling of all.[7]
Slurries
The mod registers dirty and clean slurry chemicals for aluminum, iridium, platinum and uranium. That gives you Dirty and Clean Aluminum Slurry, Dirty and Clean Iridium Slurry, Dirty and Clean Platinum Slurry, and Dirty and Clean Uranium Slurry.[7]
Blocks and the pack's changes
The mod has storage blocks for metals, alloys and gems, such as Bronze Block, Invar Block, Electrum Block and Ruby Block. It also has raw ore blocks such as Raw Osmium Block and Raw Uranium Block.[8]
The pack has changed the recipes that produce these blocks. They are shapeless crafting recipes that turn a compressed 1x block back into the matching AllTheOres block, and they exist for both finished blocks and raw ore blocks. Here is one example.[8]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/aluminum_block_1x
Changed by the pack. The other metal, gem and raw blocks follow the same pattern.
How do you progress through AllTheOres?
5 parts
In this pack, AllTheOres items turn up as quest tasks across many chapters. This page follows those quests and the in-pack recipes, from hammering your first ores to the metals that feed Mekanism, Oritech and the reactors.[2][4][9][10][11]
Tier 1: Ore hammers and plates
Your first AllTheOres stop is "Easy Ore Duping" quest, which points you at the Copper Ore Hammer. The quest says Ore Hammers crack Raw Ores into 2 Dust, and you can smelt that dust into ingots.[10]

Tier 2: Steel
Steel is the big gate. Steel Ingot is requested by "The Most Important Ingot" quest in Steam Age, "Steel Ingot" quest in the Immersive Engineering chapter, "Steel" quest in the Mekanism chapter, and "Mekanism" quest. The Steam Age quest says you can make it in many different ways.[2][4][5][9]
In Mekanism you infuse iron into Enriched Iron, infuse that with coal to get Steel Dust, then smelt the dust. In Immersive Engineering the quest warns that the Crude Blast Furnace and Alloy Kiln can't be automated.[2][4][5]
The pack changes the Steel recipes for the Immersive Engineering alloy smelter, the Ender IO alloy smelter and the Arc Furnace. Here are the in-pack versions.[6]

Tier 3: Alloys
The Immersive Engineering chapter has quests for electrum, constantan, bronze, brass and invar, and each of those is listed as coming after the Alloy Kiln quest. The quest notes tell you which alloys are worth chasing:[2]
- Electrum Ingot ("Electrum Ingot" quest): used heavily in anything electrical, including wires, connectors and transformers.[2]
- Constantan Ingot ("Constantan Ingot" quest): used quite a bit in Immersive Engineering machines and items that use heat and metal, like generators.[2]
- Bronze Ingot ("Bronze Ingot" quest): not used much in Immersive Engineering, but it is the task of the Modern Industrialisation quest in the Steam Age chapter ("Modern Industrialisation" quest).[2][9]
- Brass Ingot ("Brass Ingot" quest): the quest says it isn't used for much in Immersive Engineering.[2]
- Invar Ingot ("Invar Ingot" quest): the quest says it isn't useful in Immersive Engineering.[2]
The pack has changed the alloy recipes for the Immersive Engineering alloy smelter, the Ender IO alloy smelter and the Arc Furnace. Electrum is a good example.[6]
Alloy (immersiveengineering)
- any gold ingot
- any silver ingot
Recipe id: alltheores:alloysmelter/electrum/ingot
Tier 4: The Arc Furnace
"Arc Furnace" quest is a big multiblock that needs 6 steel blocks. It needs power and Graphite Electrodes, which can only go into its GUI and can't be automated. It can melt items down and also make alloys.[2]
The pack changes the Arc Furnace recipes for aluminum, nickel, osmium, platinum, silver and uranium. Raw ore, raw blocks, plates and gears all turn into ingots.[6]
Arc Furnace (immersiveengineering)
- any platinum raw material
Recipe id: alltheores:arcfurnace/platinum/from_raw
The pack also changes the Immersive Engineering crusher recipes for these ores, and each one gives a bonus dust. Nickel ore gives Nickel Dust and platinum dust. Platinum ore gives Gold Dust and platinum dust. Aluminum ore gives aluminum dust and Zinc Dust.[6]
Tier 5: Mekanism, Oritech and reactors
- Osmium Ingot ("Osmium" quest): the Mekanism quest says osmium ore spawns below Y level 56 and is useful for many Mekanism machines.[4]
- Nickel Ingot: "Oritech Beginnings" quest in the Oritech chapter asks for 4 of them to begin.[11]
- Aluminum and platinum: the Electric Age chapter asks for ruby dust, aluminum dust and aluminum ingots, and the Age of Oil and Blastproof Plates chapter asks for platinum dust and platinum ingots.[3][12]
- Uranium Ingot: both "Welcome to Extreme Reactors!" quest and "Extreme Reactors: Reactors" quest ask for it, and "Fueling our Passive Reactor" quest asks for 4 to fuel a passive reactor.[13][14]
The reactor chain also leans on Sulfur and Fluorite. Sulfur goes through a Chemical Oxidizer on the way to Sulfur Trioxide, and fluorite is used in the Chemical Dissolution Chamber to make Hydrofluoric Acid.[4][15]
Fluorite from sieving sand with an iron mesh, added by the pack.
Sulfur from sieving dust with an iron mesh, added by the pack.
The Uranium Block also has a pack-changed decompression recipe. A uranium block is one of the accepted items for the Warm Items quest ("Warm Items" quest).[2][6]

How does AllTheOres work with other mods?
4 parts
AllTheOres supplies metals, gems and dusts that other mods in the pack use. The links below come from in-pack recipes and quests that use items from both sides.[2][6]
Mekanism ore processing
The pack changed the AllTheOres processing recipes that run on Mekanism machines. Purifying uses Liquid Oxygen to turn ores, raw materials, raw blocks or shards into clumps, such as Aluminum Clump, Iridium Clump and Nickel Clump.[6]
Injecting uses Liquid Hydrogen Chloride to turn ores, raw materials, raw blocks or crystals into shards, such as Aluminum Shard, Iridium Shard and Nickel Shard. Dissolution uses Liquid Sulfuric Acid to turn ores, raw materials or raw blocks into dirty slurry. Those dissolution recipes are listed for aluminum, copper, gold, iridium, iron and lead.[6]
Purifying (mekanism)
Liquid Oxygen
- any aluminum ore
Recipe id: alltheores:processing/aluminum/clump/from_ore
One of the pack-changed purifying recipes: oxygen plus any aluminum ore gives an aluminum clump.
On the quest side, the Mekanism chapter has "Osmium" quest, which asks for an Osmium Ingot. Its text says osmium ore spawns below Y level 56 and that you'll need a lot of it for Mekanism machines.[4]
Ex Deorum sieving and Functional Storage
The pack added Ex Deorum sieve recipes for some AllTheOres materials. Any of the iron, golden, diamond or netherite meshes combined with Dust gives you Salt or Sulfur. The same meshes sifting sand give you Fluorite.[6]
The same pattern exists for the golden, diamond and netherite meshes.
Ex Deorum also has ore chunks for aluminum, lead, nickel, osmium, platinum, silver, tin, uranium and zinc. The pack added Functional Storage compacting recipes that link each chunk to the matching AllTheOres ore, for example Tin Ore Chunk and Tin Ore.[6]
AllTheCompressed blocks
The pack changed the AllTheCompressed recipes so each 1x compressed block, like Steel Block 1x, can be turned back into its normal AllTheOres block. Salt is the one that also has a compress recipe going the other way, from Salt Block to Salt Block 1x.[6]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: allthecompressed:decompress/steel_block_1x
One of the pack-changed decompress recipes; the other 1x blocks follow the same pattern.

Immersive Engineering quests
Immersive Engineering's quest chapter leans on AllTheOres alloys, and each ingot has its own quest after the Alloy Kiln. The quest text describes them like this:[2]
- "Electrum Ingot" quest: Electrum Ingot is made from gold and silver and is used heavily in electrical parts.[2]
- "Bronze Ingot" quest: Bronze Ingot is copper and tin. The quest says it's used a lot in Modern Industrialization but not much in Immersive Engineering.[2]
- "Constantan Ingot" quest: Constantan Ingot is copper and nickel, and is used in machines and items that deal with heat.[2]
- "Brass Ingot" quest and "Invar Ingot" quest: Brass Ingot (copper and zinc) and Invar Ingot (iron and nickel) are both described as not very useful in Immersive Engineering.[2]
Steel matters most. "Steel Ingot" quest asks for an Steel Ingot after the Crude Blast Furnace and Alloy Kiln. The quest warns that you'll need a lot, and that those two machines can't be automated.[2]
Steel Block is also a building material for two big multiblocks. The "Excavator" quest quest asks for 9 steel blocks, and "Arc Furnace" quest asks for 6.[2]
Two smaller links: "Railgun Ammo from IE" quest accepts Steel Rod, Iron Rod or Aluminum Rod as Railgun ammo. In "Warm Items" quest, a Uranium Block is one of the accepted items alongside lava and magma.[2]
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use AllTheOres?
5 parts
AllTheOres has no quests of its own in the material I have. Its ingots, dusts and rods show up as quest tasks in chapters for other mods, and most of them are metals you need as stepping stones. Here is where they appear, grouped by chapter.[2][9][10]
Early game
- Chapter 1: Starting out has "Easy Ore Duping" quest, unlocked after Ore Chunks. It asks for the Squeezer from Integrated Dynamics and a Copper Ore Hammer. The quest explains that ore hammers crack Raw Ores into 2 Dust, which you can smelt into ingots.[10]
- Steam Age has "Modern Industrialisation" quest, which asks for a Bronze Ingot and starts you on Modern Industrialization. Then comes "The Most Important Ingot" quest, which asks for a Steel Ingot.[9]
- Chapter 2: The Cool Parts has "Iron Plates" quest, unlocked after The Cool Parts. You need a hammer (Forge Hammer, Engineer's Hammer, or Railcraft's Manual Rolling Machine) plus an Iron Plate. Later, "Mekanism" quest asks for a Steel Ingot after Making Steel. The quest text says to infuse Enriched Iron with coal to get Steel Dust, then smelt it.[5]
Electric and power chapters
- The Electric Age has a Steel Ingot quest that follows "The Most Important Ingot" quest: a quest in "The Electric Age". It also has a ruby and aluminum line. a quest in "The Electric Age" asks for Ruby Dust, which leads to a quest in "The Electric Age" for Aluminum Dust, then a quest in "The Electric Age" for an Aluminum Ingot. These quests are untitled in the pack files.[3]
- Feeling Electric continues from that line with a quest in "Feeling Electric", another Aluminum Ingot, unlocked after a quest in "The Electric Age".[16]
- Age of Oil and Blastproof Plates has two untitled quests: a quest in "Age of Oil and Blastproof Plates" asks for Platinum Dust and a quest in "Age of Oil and Blastproof Plates" asks for a Platinum Ingot.[12]
- Basic Power has "Extreme Reactors: Reactors" quest, unlocked after Mid Game Power Options. It asks for a Uranium Ingot and points you to the Extreme Reactors chapter.[14]
Immersive Engineering
This chapter has the most AllTheOres tasks. Each alloy quest unlocks after Alloy Kiln and asks for one ingot: "Electrum Ingot" quest (Electrum Ingot), "Bronze Ingot" quest (Bronze Ingot), "Constantan Ingot" quest (Constantan Ingot), "Brass Ingot" quest (Brass Ingot) and "Invar Ingot" quest (Invar Ingot). "Steel Ingot" quest asks for a Steel Ingot after Crude Blast Furnace and Alloy Kiln.[2]
- "Excavator" quest is described as the hardest and most expensive multiblock in the chapter. It asks for 9 Steel Block among its materials.[2]
- "Arc Furnace" quest asks for 6 Steel Blocks among its materials.[2]
- "Warm Items" quest is unlocked after Energy from Temperature. It accepts a lava bucket, a magma block or a Uranium Block.[2]
- "Railgun Ammo from IE" quest is unlocked after Railgun. It accepts a Steel Rod, Iron Rod or Aluminum Rod, among other ammo items.[2]
Mekanism
In the Mekanism chapter, "Osmium" quest asks for an Osmium Ingot after Mekanism. "Steel" quest asks for a Steel Ingot after Metallurgic Infuser. "Creating Sulfuric Acid" quest comes after Machines and asks for Sulfur plus several chemical machines. "Mekanism: Reactors" quest asks for more Sulfur and unlocks after Chemical Infuser, Chemical Oxidizer, Chemical Dissolution Chamber, Enrichment Chamber and Rotary Condensentrator.[4]
The Mekanism: Reactors chapter continues the Sulfur line. "Mekanism: Reactors" quest asks for Sulfur, a Chemical Oxidizer, an Electrolytic Separator and a Chemical Infuser. "Sulfur Trioxide into Hydrofluoric Acid" quest follows it and asks for Fluorite along with the Rotary Condensentrator, Chemical Infuser and Chemical Dissolution Chamber.[15]
Other mods
- Extreme Reactors starts with "Welcome to Extreme Reactors!" quest, which asks for a Uranium Ingot. Then "Fueling our Passive Reactor" quest unlocks after Our First Reactor and asks for 4 Uranium Ingots to fuel the passive reactor.[13]
- Occultism's "Our First Ritual" quest lists a Silver Ingot among its ritual items, alongside iron, gold and copper ingots.[17]
- Oritech's "Oritech Beginnings" quest asks for 4 Nickel Ingot.[11]
