What is Oritech?
3 parts
Oritech is an open-source tech mod built around animated machines. It covers processing machines, world-interaction machines, logistics parts, equipment and some world generation features. Most machines are multiblocks, and you upgrade them with addon blocks.[1]
The feature list is big: several ore processing chains, automated farming, electric tools and armor, item, fluid and energy pipes, drones that carry items over long distances, lasers that mine blocks for you, cybernetic player augmentation, and particle accelerators. If you enjoy planning bases, chaining machines together and automating everything, this mod is for you.[1]
This pack ships Oritech 1.0.0-rc3, and it has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. Everything in this guide describes that version.[2]
How the mod is designed
The mod aims to give you several ways to get most things, so you rarely get stuck waiting on one rare item. It also pushes renewable resources through big automated farms and, late game, the bedrock extractor. Pipes are simple, with only one tier for each pipe type.[1]
Where it fits in this pack
The pack has a dedicated Oritech quest chapter. Its first quests cover the basics: generators such as the Basic Generator and Fuel Generator, the Pulverizer, the Centrifuge, and the pipe families. It also has a Primitive Machine Core quest that leads into a chain of machine core quests, ending with the Ultra Machine Core.[3]
Further in, the Assembler quest unlocks after the Magnetic Coil and Motor quest. The Atomic Forge quest comes after the Duratium Ingot, the Enderic Compound and the Flux Gate. Quests for the Silicon Wafer and the Advanced Computing Engine come after that.[3]
The ATM Star path
Oritech is part of the ATM Star path. In the "The ATM Star" chapter, one quest asks for a Magnetic Coil, and the "Manhattan Module" quest quest follows it, asking for the Manhattan Module.[4]
How do you get started with Oritech?
4 parts
Oritech is a tech mod built around animated multiblock machines, with upgrades added through addon blocks. This pack gives it its own quest chapter, and the steps below follow the order of that chapter's quests.[1][3]
The first items, in order
- Start with the Primitive Machine Core (a quest in "Oritech"). The core quests chain upward from it: Basic Machine Core (a quest in "Oritech"), then Improved Machine Core (a quest in "Oritech"), and on up to Ultra Machine Core.[3]
- Get power going with the Basic Generator (a quest in "Oritech") and some Energy Pipe (a quest in "Oritech"). Every machine below needs energy.[3]
- Build the Pulverizer (a quest in "Oritech") and the Centrifuge (a quest in "Oritech"). They are your first processing machines.[3]
- Make a Magnetic Coil and a Motor (a quest in "Oritech"). The Assembler quest (a quest in "Oritech") only unlocks after that one.[3]
- Set up the Foundry and make an Adamant Ingot (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
The Improved Machine Core is a pack recipe
The Improved Machine Core is crafted with a recipe the pack adds itself. Use the one below, not a default you remember from the mod. The pack also adds its own recipe for the Machine Addon Extender.[5]

How does Oritech work?
5 parts
Oritech machines are mostly animated multiblocks, and you upgrade them by attaching addon blocks. The mod is built around having several ways to get most things, and around renewable resources you set up with big automated farms and processing chains.[1]
Machine cores and addons
Oritech has seven tiers of machine core, named Primitive, Basic, Improved, Advanced, Elite, Ultra and Ultimate. The Ultimate core is described as the one that lets you add excessive addons.[7]
The language file lists these addon blocks: Acceptor, Burst, Capacitor, Efficiency, Fluid, Hunter, Inventory Proxy, Auxiliary Processing Chamber, Control Unit, Silk Touch, Speed, Synergy Matrix and Yield. It also has a Machine Addon Extender and a Power Bank Addon Extender.[7]
Unverified What each addon does exactly, how many fit on each machine and the machine energy numbers are not confirmed by the sources for this pack.
Processing machines
The pack's recipes show the main processing machines: the pulverizer, the grinder, the centrifuge and the assembler. The foundry and the powered furnace also exist as machines. The pulverizer and the grinder both turn an Adamant Ingot into Adamant Dust. Both also turn hay blocks into 16 Biomass.[5][7]
The centrifuge handles two kinds of recipe: item recipes and fluid recipes. Item recipes include making Carbon Fibre Strands. Fluid recipes include making Biofuel, which is one of the pack's fuel routes.[5]

Pipes and logistics
Oritech has item, fluid and energy pipes, and each type has only one tier. Framed versions exist for each type, along with a Framed Superconductor, and there are duct blocks for item, fluid and energy pipes. A Pipe Booster block and an Item Filter block also exist.[1][7]
Pipes only get block entities where they need them, for example where they connect to machines. All networks are cached and updates are only sent when needed, so large pipe setups are meant to stay light on performance. Drones can also carry items over long distances, and the mod has a Drone Port block.[1][7]
An Energy Pipe Duct can be turned back into a plain Energy Pipe with a shapeless craft.[5]
Renewable resources
Late-game metals can be renewable through the Bedrock Extractor. Naturally spawned resource nodes feed the extractor, and oil wells sit alongside them, so you are nudged to build outpost bases and ship items to a central hub. Plastic is a good example of the multiple-routes idea: you can make it from farming items or from oil processing.[1][7]
What the pack changed
With Productive Metalworks installed, a Block of Adamant melts into 810 Molten Adamant, and 810 of that casts back into a block. The pack changed both recipes from the mod's own.[5]

How do you progress through Oritech?
5 parts
Oritech progression in this pack currently follows the Oritech quest chapter. Most of the early machines hang directly off one shared parent quest, and from there the quests branch into a long chain that ends at the Manhattan Module. Follow the quests and you hit the tiers in a sensible order.[3]
The Machine Core ladder
The clearest tier ladder is the six Machine Cores. As the quest book currently stands, each core quest unlocks only after the previous one, so they work as your tier markers.[3]
- Primitive Machine Core (quest a quest in "Oritech") is currently available straight from the shared parent quest.[3]
- Basic Machine Core (quest a quest in "Oritech") currently follows the Primitive core.[3]
- Improved Machine Core (quest a quest in "Oritech") currently follows the Basic core.[3]
- Advanced Machine Core (quest a quest in "Oritech") currently follows the Improved core.[3]
- Elite Machine Core (quest a quest in "Oritech") currently follows the Advanced core.[3]
- Ultra Machine Core (quest a quest in "Oritech") currently follows the Elite core and is the last one in the chapter.[3]

Early game: generators, processing and pipes
Once you start the chapter, a lot opens at once. You can chase the Basic Generator, Fuel Generator, Lava Generator and Bio Generator, plus the Pulverizer and Centrifuge. The item, fluid and energy pipe quests, the storage quest and the Foundry quest are also open from the start.[3]
In the quest book as it currently stands, the Magnetic Coil and Motor quest is the gate to the Assembler quest. In the recipe data, both items have Assembler-type recipes, and the Assembler's own crafting recipes need a Motor.[3][5]

Mid game: from the Assembler to the Atomic Forge
Past the Assembler, the quests currently form a dependency chain toward the Atomic Forge. This is the order they unlock:[3]
- Build the Assembler (a quest in "Oritech"). It currently unlocks the Processing Unit (a quest in "Oritech") and the Plutonium Pellet (a quest in "Oritech").[3]
- Make the Foundry and an Adamant Ingot (a quest in "Oritech"). The Duratium Ingot (a quest in "Oritech") currently follows.[3]
- The Enderic Laser and Target Designator (a quest in "Oritech") currently need both the Assembler and Foundry quests. The Fluxite, Plutonium Dust and Hunter Addon quests all currently unlock after it.[3]
- The Flux Gate (a quest in "Oritech") currently needs both the Fluxite quest (a quest in "Oritech") and the Processing Unit quest done first.[3]
- The Enderic Compound quest (a quest in "Oritech") currently comes after the Centrifuge quest.[3]
- The Atomic Forge quest (a quest in "Oritech") currently needs the Duratium, Enderic Compound and Flux Gate quests all done.[3]

The Atomic Forge.
The Atomic Forge doesn't take energy the normal way. The pack's Master Ball quests explain that it needs an Enderic Laser: you power the laser, then Shift Right Click the Forge and the laser with a Target Designator to link them. Those quests also say the Forge needs 8 Machine Casings around it.[6]
Late game: chips and the Manhattan Module
After the Atomic Forge, the chain currently gets very linear. You go from the Silicon Wafer (a quest in "Oritech") to the Advanced Computing Engine (a quest in "Oritech"), then the Super AI Chip (a quest in "Oritech"), then the Heisenberg Compensator (a quest in "Oritech"). The Manhattan Module (a quest in "Oritech") needs the Compensator quest and the Plutonium Pellet quest.[3]

The ATM Star chapter also has its own Manhattan Module quest ("Manhattan Module" quest), which unlocks after a Magnetic Coil quest in that chapter.[4]
Gems and pack-changed routes
For gems, the pack's quest says to put a Fluid Addon on a Centrifuge and feed it Sulphuric Acid. Water also works, but with a lower yield. The same quest warns that some recipes that output dusts or nuggets are currently broken.[3]
The pack has also changed several of Oritech's cross-mod routes. Adamant and Duratium can be alloyed in Immersive Engineering and EnderIO machines, and cast with Productive Metalworks. Fluxite gets extra routes through Powah, AE2 and Productive Metalworks. Plutonium Dust can be made by energizing Uranite Crystal in Powah. Enderic Compound and Carbon Fibre Strands also have pack-changed Centrifuge recipes.[5]

How does Oritech work with other mods?
3 parts
Oritech is built to plug into other mods. Its project page lists built-in compatibility for Applied Energistics 2, Create, Ender IO, Immersive Engineering and Mekanism, among others, so metals and components can be processed in Oritech machines and vice versa. In this pack, the recipes below are the ones that tie Oritech to other mods, and the recipe data marks the processing recipes listed here as changed by the pack.[1][5]
Metals from All the Ores
Most of Oritech's ore processing outputs items from AllTheOres instead of Oritech's own versions. The pack's recipes also keep Oritech's small dusts and small clumps as bonus outputs.[5]
- The Pulverizer turns raw copper, gold, iron, nickel and platinum into dusts such as Iron Dust, with a small dust as a bonus.[3][5]
- The Grinder turns raw materials into clumps such as Iron Clump. Grinding raw iron also gives Small Nickel Clump, and grinding raw platinum or platinum ore also gives Fluxite.[5]
- The Deep Drill turns the Nickel Resource Node, Platinum Resource Node and Uranium Resource Node into Raw Nickel, Raw Platinum and Raw Uranium.[5]
- Nickel and platinum gems become Nickel Ingot and Platinum Ingot in the Foundry, in a furnace or blast furnace, or in a Create mixer.[5]
- The Atomic Forge makes dusts such as Platinum Dust from the metal gems, using Fluxite.[5]
- Uranium goes through Oritech too. Grinding raw uranium gives Uranium Dust and Small Plutonium Dust.[5]
Mekanism, Create and others
- Mekanism: Oritech's centrifuge turns osmium clumps into Osmium Dust. With Sulfuric Acid it also processes lead, osmium and tin clumps into dusts and Mineral Slurry. Mekanism's metallurgic infusing can make Adamant Dust and Biosteel Dust.[5]
- Create: the Refinery turns Sheol Fire and raw zinc into Zinc Clump, and the centrifuge turns zinc clumps and Sulfuric Acid into Zinc Nugget and Mineral Slurry.[5]
- Immersive Engineering: HOP Graphite Dust goes into the centrifuge for Carbon Fibre Strands, and aluminum ores can be ground into Raw Aluminum and Quartz Dust.[5]
- Ender IO: the pack changed the Fluid Pipe and Pump recipes so they use an Ender IO conduit binder.[5]

- In the Master Ball chapter, the Fragment Forge is one of the machines accepted for slicing Apricorns, next to Create's Mechanical Saw and Mekanism's Precision Sawmill. See a quest in "Master Ball". The quest text says the Fragment Forge needs 3 Machine Casings before you build it.[6]
Which All the Mons quests use Oritech?
6 parts
Oritech currently shows up in four quest chapters in the pack: its own Oritech chapter, plus Master Ball, The ATM Star and New Beginning. The Oritech chapter is where you learn the mod. The other three borrow its machines as one option among several.[3][4][6][8]
The Oritech chapter
Most of the opening quests branch off the same parent quest, so you can tackle them in any order. Each one asks you to obtain a machine or item. Here is how they group up.[3]
- Power: the quest book currently has a quest in "Oritech" asking for a Basic Generator, a quest in "Oritech" a Fuel Generator, a quest in "Oritech" a Lava Generator and a quest in "Oritech" a Bio Generator. a quest in "Oritech" currently asks for the Portable Energy Storage and the Large Energy Storage.[3]
- Piping: currently a quest in "Oritech" covers the energy pipe, framed energy pipe and energy pipe duct. a quest in "Oritech" covers the fluid pipe family plus the Portable Tank. a quest in "Oritech" covers the item pipes and the Item Filter. a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Pipe Booster.[3]
- Processing: in the quest book as it currently stands, a quest in "Oritech" is the Pulverizer, a quest in "Oritech" is the Centrifuge, and a quest in "Oritech" wants the Foundry and an Adamant Ingot.[3]
- Other early quests: currently a quest in "Oritech" asks for the Drone Port and a quest in "Oritech" for the Nuclear Reactor Controller.[3]
- Currently a quest in "Oritech" asks for a Magnetic Coil and a Motor. It leads to the Assembler quest, a quest in "Oritech".[3]
Machine core line
In the quest book as it currently stands, the machine cores form one straight chain, starting from the same parent quest as the early machines.[3]
- a quest in "Oritech" currently asks for the Primitive Machine Core.[3]
- a quest in "Oritech" currently asks for the Basic Machine Core.[3]
- a quest in "Oritech" currently asks for the Improved Machine Core.[3]
- a quest in "Oritech" currently asks for the Advanced Machine Core.[3]
- a quest in "Oritech" currently asks for the Elite Machine Core.[3]
- a quest in "Oritech" currently asks for the Ultra Machine Core.[3]
Addons and gems
Currently, seven addon quests share one parent quest: capacitor (a quest in "Oritech"), auxiliary processing (a quest in "Oritech"), acceptor (a quest in "Oritech"), efficiency (a quest in "Oritech"), extender (a quest in "Oritech"), speed (a quest in "Oritech") and fluid (a quest in "Oritech"). The fluid addon also has a second quest, a quest in "Oritech", that follows the centrifuge. The Hunter Addon quest, a quest in "Oritech", comes later, after the laser quest.[3]
In the current quest book, the pulverizer leads to the Fragment Forge in a quest in "Oritech". That quest and the centrifuge's fluid addon quest both lead to a quest in "Oritech", where you hand in any one of the Oritech gems. The centrifuge also leads to the Enderic Compound quest, a quest in "Oritech". a quest in "Oritech" asks for Carbon Fibre Strands and follows both the pulverizer and the centrifuge.[3]
The side quest "Spinning into gems" quest explains the gem trick: put a fluid addon on a centrifuge and you can feed it Sulphuric Acid, so processing clumps with it gives gems. Water works too, for a lower yield. The quest also warns that some recipes that output dusts or nuggets are currently broken.[3]
The long road to the Manhattan Module
- As the quest book currently stands, you finish the assembler quest, a quest in "Oritech", and the foundry quest, a quest in "Oritech". Together they lead to a quest in "Oritech", the Enderic Laser and Target Designator.[3]
- Currently the laser quest leads to a quest in "Oritech" (Fluxite) and a quest in "Oritech" (Plutonium Dust).[3]
- Currently a quest in "Oritech" (Processing Unit) follows the assembler. Combined with the fluxite quest it leads to a quest in "Oritech", the Flux Gate.[3]
- Currently a quest in "Oritech" (Duratium Ingot), the enderic compound quest and the flux gate quest together lead to a quest in "Oritech", the Atomic Forge.[3]
- After the atomic forge there is currently a straight chain: a quest in "Oritech" (Silicon Wafer), a quest in "Oritech" (Advanced Computing Engine), a quest in "Oritech" (Super AI Chip) and a quest in "Oritech" (Heisenberg Compensator).[3]
- a quest in "Oritech" currently asks for the Manhattan Module. It needs the Heisenberg compensator quest and a quest in "Oritech", the Plutonium Pellet, which follows the assembler.[3]
There is also a refinery quest, a quest in "Oritech", which currently asks for the Refinery and the Refinery Chamber Module. It follows a quest that isn't covered in the sources.[3]
Master Ball chapter
Here Oritech machines are one of several accepted options, and the quests complete if you hand in any of the listed items. They follow the Apricorn crafting steps in order.[6]
- a quest in "Master Ball" (cutting Apricorns) accepts the Fragment Forge. It needs 3 Machine Casings, and you right-click the forge to build it.[6]
- a quest in "Master Ball" (plates) and a quest in "Master Ball" (cutting the halves) accept the Atomic Forge. It isn't powered normally: you power an Enderic Laser, then Shift-right-click the forge and the laser with a Target Designator to link them. The halves quest says the forge needs 8 Machine Casings.[6]
- a quest in "Master Ball" (Mechanisms) accepts the Assembler. Place it with 3 Machine Casings in a 1x2x2 shape, right-click to assemble it, then power it.[6]
- "Burning our Great Ball Lid" quest accepts the Refinery. It needs 9 Machine Casings, plus energy, Soul Lava piped in and a Great Ball Lid.[6]
- "Creating our firey Ball" quest accepts the assembler again, with the same 3-casing 1x2x2 setup.[6]
The ATM Star and New Beginning
The ATM Star has a short Oritech chain. a quest in "The ATM Star" asks for a Magnetic Coil and leads to "Manhattan Module" quest, which asks for the Manhattan Module.[4]
In New Beginning, a quest in "New Beginning" accepts a Magnetic Coil, Mekanism's steel casing or Industrial Foregoing's plastic. Its text describes Oritech as a mod about designing multiblocks and processing items through them. a quest in "New Beginning" accepts the Energy Pipe or the energy pipes and cables of several other mods. To set which end of an energy pipe pushes and which pulls, you need a wrench on each end.[8]
