What is Eternal Starlight?
2 parts
Eternal Starlight adds a whole new dimension to explore: a magical, starlit realm full of wonder, danger and discovery. It comes with its own biomes, rare ingredients, unique mobs, and a big set of tools and weapons. If you like pushing into a fresh world for new gear and bosses, this is the mod for you.[1]
The pack ships Eternal Starlight 0.9.0 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[2]
How you get in
Look for the Starlight Portal Ruins in the Overworld and challenge the Gatekeeper. Beating him unlocks the way to the stars. The pack's quest text says he gives you some items, and with those you can enter the portal.[1][3]
The Orb of Prophecy is what activates the portal. You can craft it or get it from the Gatekeeper, and its quest says it will have more uses later.[4]
Once you're in, the Seeking Eye helps you find the bosses. The Glimmering Tablet (the Glimmering Tablet) gives you clues to track each one down.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
Eternal Starlight is part of the ATM Star path. The quest "Eternal Starlight" quest in The ATM Star chapter asks you to obtain the Glimmering Tablet, and its text points you to the portal ruins and the Gatekeeper fight.[3]
That quest unlocks two more ATM Star quests: "Chain of Souls" quest, a grappling-hook-style item, and "Tear Bomb" quest.[3]
The mod also has its own quest chapter, and several of its quests follow on from the Eternal Starlight quest. They cover finding the bosses ("Finding the Bosses" quest), "Saltpeter Powder" quest, "Deepsilver" quest, "Starlit Diamond" quest and "Thermal Springstone" quest. Between them, these are a good map for what to gather first.[4]
Unverified The sources I have don't show whether the pack gates anything else behind this dimension, or the full boss list, so check the in-game quest book for those details.
How do you get started with Eternal Starlight?
4 parts
Your adventure starts in the Overworld. Look for the Starlight Portal Ruins and face The Gatekeeper to unlock the gateway to the stars. The Orb of Prophecy is what activates the portal, and the quest says you can either craft it or get it by beating the Gatekeeper. Check "Orb of Prophecy" quest when you get there.[1][4]
Step 1: Grab some Saltpeter
Saltpeter can be found anywhere underground, and it's very common in the Warm Shore biome. You need a Stone Pickaxe to mine it, and it drops a couple of Saltpeter Powder. Fortune works on it, so use it. See "Saltpeter Powder" quest.[4]
Why bother first? Because the pack's Deepsilver alloy recipes take a saltpeter dust, as you'll see in the next step.[5]
Step 2: Make Deepsilver
Deepsilver Ingot is your first real material. It's found everywhere underground. The quest is "Deepsilver" quest.[4]
The simple route is to smelt your Raw Deepsilver. There are matching smelting and blasting recipes for the raw material and for each of the Deepsilver ore blocks.[5]
Smelting
Recipe id: eternal_starlight:deepsilver_ingot_smelting_from_raw_deepsilver
The pack also has an alloy recipe that uses a saltpeter dust and raw Deepsilver, and it gives you Dimslag as a second output. The pack changed this recipe, so go by the one shown here and not by what you remember from the mod's defaults. There is a matching alloy recipe for the ores.[5]
Alloy (eternal_starlight)
- any saltpeter dust
- 2× any deepsilver raw material

Changed by the pack.
Step 3: Make your first Deepsilver tools
With your ingots, craft yourself a Deepsilver Pickaxe. Deepsilver also has a sword, axe, shovel, hoe, sickle, brush and a full armor set in the pack's recipes.[5]

Step 4: Dig deeper and find the bosses
Starlit Diamond spawns far underground everywhere in the Starlight, and you'll find it around Voidstone. It's very good for tools and weapons. See "Starlit Diamond" quest.[4]
Once you're ready for bosses, remember that the structures they live in aren't common, so use the Seeking Eye. It works like an Ender Eye: right-click to throw it and follow it. To pick which structure it points to, hold a certain item in your offhand. "Finding the Bosses" quest and "Monstrosity Items" quest cover this. For example, Lunar Berries, Cave Moss and the crystal moss carpets and roots can lead you to the Cursed Garden.[1][4]
How does Eternal Starlight work?
4 parts
Eternal Starlight is a dimension mod, and the sources for this pack only describe a few machine-style features. Here is what they confirm.[1]
Machines
The mod has a Crystalborn Catalyst, which its advancement describes as a crystal-fueled and redstone-powered machine. The recipe viewer also lists an Alloy Furnace Cooling category.[6]
The Accumulator has a crafting recipe that this pack changed from the mod's default, so use the recipe below and not older guides.[5]

Interaction-based mechanics
Much of the mod's progression runs on world interactions rather than machines. These are the ones the sources confirm:[6]
- Put seeds into the Starfire Birds' nests to help the birds breed. Helping them breed is how you obtain Starfire.[6]
- Throw Starfire at sand to get a piece of Flowglaze.[6]
- Strip Torreya logs to get Raw Amaramber.[6]
- Putting a Carved Lunaris Cactus Fruit on a Block of Aethersent summons an Aethersent Golem. Putting one on a Grimstone Brick summons a Grimstone Golem.[6]
- The Orb of Prophecy is used to open the portal.[6]
Boss mechanics
- To make the Starlight Golem vulnerable to your attacks, deactivate its Energy Block. Throwing a Frozen Tube at it makes it enter the charging state faster.[6]
- Ignite the Lunar Monstrosity to make it vulnerable to your attacks.[6]
- Use the Seeking Eye to locate each boss, then follow the clues on the Glimmering Tablet.[1]
Starfire Bird Aviary
The Acacia Starfire Bird Aviary uses the mod's default recipe, shown below.[5]

How do you progress through Eternal Starlight?
7 parts
Eternal Starlight is a whole dimension, and this pack guides you through it with a quest chapter. The path goes like this: beat the Gatekeeper, enter the portal, then work through the material tiers, each with its own tools and armor, while you hunt for the boss structures. Here's how the tiers fit together.[3][4]
Getting in
The chain starts with the quest "Eternal Starlight" quest. Look for Eternal Starlight Portal Ruins around the Overworld and challenge the Gatekeeper there. If you win, he gives you items that let you enter the portal.[3]
The Orb of Prophecy is the item that activates the portal. You can craft it or get it from beating the Gatekeeper, and it has more uses later.[4]
Once the starting quest is done, several branches open up: "Saltpeter Powder" quest, "Finding the Bosses" quest, "Deepsilver" quest, "Starlit Diamond" quest, "Thermal Springstone" quest, "Chain of Souls" quest and "Tear Bomb" quest.[3][4]
Deepsilver
Deepsilver Ingot is found everywhere underground. The quest chapter has a quest for each Deepsilver tool and armor piece, plus the Deepsilver Brush.[4]
You can smelt or blast raw Deepsilver and the various Deepsilver ores into ingots. The pack also changed the alloy recipes that produce an ingot along with Dimslag, both the one that works from ores and the one that works from raw materials. Here's the raw materials version:[5]
Alloy (eternal_starlight)
- any saltpeter dust
- 2× any deepsilver raw material
Recipe id: eternal_starlight:alloy/deepsilver_from_raw_materials
This alloy recipe is changed by the pack.
"Saltpeter Powder" quest tells you where to find saltpeter: underground, and very commonly in the Warm Shore biome. It needs a Stone Pickaxe to mine, and Fortune works on it.[4]
Starlit Diamond and Thermal Springstone
Starlit Diamond spawns far underground everywhere in the Starlight, and you'll find it around Voidstone. It has a full tool and armor set in the quests.[4]
Thermal Springstone Ingot comes from Hot Ponds. They aren't a biome or structure, so you'll need to just look around for them. The quests list a full set of Thermal Springstone tools and armor, including a Thermal Springstone Hammer and a Thermal Springstone Scythe.[4]
Bosses and Golem Steel
Boss structures are rare, so "Finding the Bosses" quest points you to the Seeking Eye. It works like an Ender Eye, and you choose which structure it looks for by holding a certain item in your offhand.[4]
- The Cursed Garden: hold one of the "Monstrosity Items" quest, such as Lunar Berries, Cave Moss or the Crystal Moss Carpets and Roots.[4]
- The Golem Forge: hold Redstone, Golem Steel or Oxidized Golem Steel (the "Golem Items" quest). The forge is underground.[4]
Golem Steel gear includes the Energy Boomerang (a thrown weapon that returns and sets mobs on fire), the Golem Steel Greatsword (it can block and fires 3 lightning balls) and the Underminer (a pickaxe that mines faster the lower your Y level is). Here's how Golem Steel Ingot is made:[4]
Alloy (eternal_starlight)
- 3× any deepsilver ingot
- 2× any golem steel nugget
Recipe id: eternal_starlight:alloy/golem_steel
Starfire
Starfire is a material for tools and weapons. To make Starfire gear you first need Thermal Springstone tools to upgrade, then the Smithing Template, which is found in the two boss structures, the Cursed Garden and the Golem Forge. See "Starfire Template" quest.[4]
Glacite and Flowglaze
Glacite Shard is found deep underground in Permafrost Forests. Its armor and tools help against freezing damage.[4]
Flowglaze is smelted or blasted from Raw Flowglaze. Flowglaze tools are made by smithing upgrades of Glacite tools with the Smithing Template. Here's the sword upgrade:[5]
Side materials
- Raw Amaramber is rarely found by stripping Torreya Logs. It can be crafted into ingots for armor and tools.[4]
- Malarite spawns in the Dark Swamp, and has its own tool quests.[4]
- Aethersent Ingot drops from Creteors and Meteor Showers. Aethersent armor recipes also use Creteor Hide.[4][5]
How does Eternal Starlight work with other mods?
4 parts
Eternal Starlight is wired into the rest of the pack through recipes the pack added, so you won't find these in the mod's default setup. They tie it to vanilla items, Mekanism, Productive Trees and a couple of the pack's custom items.[5]
Turning vanilla items into Starlight versions
The biggest link is a pack item, Generalized Starlight Prediction. The pack added a whole set of shapeless recipes where you combine it with a vanilla item to get the Eternal Starlight counterpart. For example, Stone becomes Grimstone, Deepslate becomes Voidstone, and Blue Ice becomes Glacite.[5]
One example of the pattern: a vanilla item plus the prediction item.
The same pattern covers terrain blocks like Nightfall Dirt, Nightfall Grass Block, Twilight Sand and Dusted Gravel. It also covers the Starlight corals, plants like Lunaris Cactus and Lunar Berries, and Springstone, which comes from Blackstone.[5]
Some of these recipes accept a whole item group instead of one specific item. With the prediction item, any silver ingot gives you Deepsilver Ingot, any steel ingot gives you Oxidized Golem Steel Ingot, and any diamond gives you Raw Aethersent. The Starlight crystal blocks, clusters and shards need the matching amethyst item plus a blue or red dye, depending on the colour you want.[5]
Sawmills and Starlight wood
Mekanism and Productive Trees both have pack-added sawing recipes for every Eternal Starlight wood type: Banyin, Cradlewood, Jinglestem, Lunar, Northland, Scarlet and Torreya. In Mekanism's sawing, a log of that type gives you planks plus Sawdust.[5]
Sawing (mekanism)
- any lunar log
Recipe id: allthemods:mekanism/sawing/eternal_starlight/lunar_planks

The Productive Trees sawmill recipes take Sawdust together with a log of the matching type and give you the planks.[5]

Pack crafts that use Starlight items
Two of the pack's custom items need an Eternal Starlight ingredient mixed in with items from many other mods. The Dragon Soul recipe uses Chain of Souls.[5]

Quest book notes
The Eternal Starlight quest chapter points out two replacements for other items. Saltpeter Powder can be used in place of other niters, and Dusted Gravel can stand in for normal gravel.[4]
Which All the Mons quests use Eternal Starlight?
4 parts
Eternal Starlight appears in two quest chapters in this pack. A short intro path sits in The ATM Star chapter. A much bigger chapter named Eternal Starlight covers the dimension itself, mostly as a tree of materials with a row of gear quests hanging off each one.[3][4]
The ATM Star chapter: your way in
- "Eternal Starlight" quest has no prerequisite listed and asks for the Glimmering Tablet. Its text sends you to the Eternal Starlight Portal Ruins in the Overworld to challenge the Gatekeeper. If you win, you get items that let you enter the portal.[3]
- "Chain of Souls" quest comes after it and asks for the Chain of Souls. It works like a grappling hook with a range of 90 blocks, give or take a few. The quest text says the ingredients are drops from the Lunar Monstrosity.[3]
- "Tear Bomb" quest also comes after the first quest and asks for the Tear Bomb. The quest text points you to Stranghoul Dens, where Stranghouls grow Pungency Fruits and barter them for Malarite.[3]
The Eternal Starlight chapter
Three item quests in this chapter list no prerequisite: "Energy Boomerang" quest for the Energy Boomerang, "Underminer" quest for the Underminer, and "Golem Steel Greatsword" quest for the Golem Steel Greatsword. The Underminer is a pickaxe that mines faster the lower your Y level is.[4]
"Orb of Prophecy" quest asks for the Orb of Prophecy and is listed as coming after The Gatekeeper and The Gate. The quest text says you can craft it or get it from beating the Gatekeeper, and that it is mainly used to activate the portal.[4]
Quests that follow the Eternal Starlight quest
- "Finding the Bosses" quest asks for the Seeking Eye, which works like an Ender Eye for finding boss structures. It leads into "Monstrosity Items" quest, where items like vines and crystal moss carpets in your offhand lead you to the Cursed Garden. It also leads into "Golem Items" quest, where redstone or Golem Steel in your offhand leads you to the Golem Forge.[4]
- "Saltpeter Powder" quest asks for Saltpeter Powder, followed by "Saltpeter Matchbox" quest for the Saltpeter Matchbox.[4]
- "Deepsilver" quest asks for the Deepsilver Ingot. A row of Deepsilver quests follows: sword, axe, pickaxe, hoe, shovel, sickle, brush and armor, such as "Deepsilver Sword" quest and "Deepsilver Pickaxe" quest.[4]
- "Starlit Diamond" quest asks for the Starlit Diamond. It unlocks a full set of Starlit Diamond tool and armor quests, such as "Starlit Diamond Sword" quest and "Starlit Diamond Pickaxe" quest.[4]
- "Thermal Springstone" quest asks for the Thermal Springstone Ingot. Thermal Springstone tools, a hammer, a scythe and armor follow, such as "Thermal Springstone Hammer" quest and "Thermal Springstone Scythe" quest.[4]
Biome-gated material lines
Several material quests come after a biome quest. "Malarite" quest for Malarite follows Dark Swamp and leads to quests like "Malarite Sword" quest. "Amaramber" quest for Raw Amaramber follows Torreya Forest, and its text says it is found rarely by stripping Torreya Logs. "Glacite" quest for the Glacite Shard follows Permafrost Forest and leads to Glacite tools and armor, which the quest text says help against freezing damage.[4]
The meteor line starts at Meteor Shower. "Aethersent" quest asks for the Aethersent Ingot and "Creteors" quest asks for the Creteor Hide. After those come "Rage of Stars" quest for the Rage of Stars, "Aetherstrike Rocket" quest for the Aetherstrike Rocket, and the Aethersent armor quests "Aethersent Hood" quest, "Aethersent Cape" quest, "Aethersent Bottoms" quest and "Aethersent Boots" quest.[4]
"Starfire" quest for the Starfire comes after the quest called "The birds and the... birds?". "Starfire Template" quest follows it and asks for the Smithing Template. Its text says you need Thermal Springstone tools to upgrade, and that the template is found in the Cursed Garden and Golem Forge boss structures.[4]
Two golem quests come after Lunaris Cactus: "Aethersent Golem" quest and "Grimstone Golem" quest. The first stacks an Block of Aethersent with a Carved Lunaris Cactus Fruit to make a golem that shoots down meteors before Creteors can spawn. The second places a carved cactus fruit over Grimstone Bricks.[4]
"Thioquartz" quest asks for a Block of Thioquartz after Ether River. It leads to the armor quests "Alchemist Mask" quest and "Alchemist Robe" quest. Ether River also unlocks a quest in "Eternal Starlight" for the Ether Bucket.[4]
The rest is mostly short nature and discovery quests, such as "Lunar Trees" quest (Lunar Trees), "Torreya Trees" quest (Torreya Trees), "Scarlet Trees" quest (Scarlet Trees), "Banyin Trees" quest (Banyin Trees), "Coral Blocks" quest (Coral Blocks) and "Magma and Geysers" quest (Magma and Geysers).[4]
What changed in Eternal Starlight between versions?
5 parts
Eternal Starlight in All the Mons 1.3.0 is version 0.9.0 for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge, and it has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. I have no pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's releases.[2]
0.9.0 (the version in the pack)
The developer announced that updates will be much slower for a long while because of schoolwork, with no major new features or frequent fixes expected soon. They also said they haven't given up on the project.[7]
- New content: Solaris Isles, a sky island biome, along with Cradlewood, a new type of wood. Also colored variants of Lunar Leaves, the Voidstone Spike (a voidstone speleothem block) and composter recipes for many items.[7]
- The huge creative mode tab was split into many smaller ones.[7]
- Cursed Garden now adapts to nearby terrain.[7]
- The Gatekeeper now only drops the Glimmering Tablet and the Orb of Prophecy after the first challenge, counted per player.[7]
- Nocturnal Millet no longer forces right-click harvesting, can now be planted on Nightfall Farmland, and no longer crashes the game.[7]
- Fixed a crash when mining a loot chest while items were being ejected from it, and enhanced network security.[7]
0.8.1
- Boss structures now generate in more biomes, and locating them is more efficient.[8]
- The Oblivion effect was significantly weakened. Passing through walls now inflicts blindness, and the duration of each instance was cut to half of the original.[8]
0.6.4
- Added the Alloy Furnace (with JEI compat), currently dropped by the Starlight Golem. Also added the Seeker, a squid-like flying hostile mob, and the Tentacle Spike, a whip weapon it drops.[9]
- Deepsilver tools now have the same mining level as iron tools, and Starlit Diamond ores and blocks now require iron tools to mine.[9]
- Added a config to always allow players to hurt Gatekeepers during the fight.[9]
- Fixed the Wand of Teleportation not working and the Accumulator acting as a redstone conductor. A registry remapper (NeoForge only) now fixes outdated ids in old saves.[9]
0.6.3
- Added the Energy Transmitter for wireless redstone signal transfer, and the Accumulator, which distributes a redstone signal from one face to all other faces.[10]
- Added Dimslag, a gravel-like block found underground, and Suspicious Dusted Gravel.[10]
- Added a Data Fixer that renames outdated ids in old saves. The changelog still says to back up before updating.[10]
- Renamed Trapped Soul to Soul Dew, and Starlight Mangrove to Banyin with a reworked tree shape.[10]
- The Gatekeeper gained a teleport ability as an anti-cheese measure, and Dagger of Hunger became a dual-wielding weapon.[10]
