Apothic-Enchanting is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 1.6.2. A huge extension of the Enchanting system (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Apothic-Enchanting?

2 parts

Apothic Enchanting is the enchanting module of Apotheosis, and it completely reworks how enchanting works. The pack ships version 1.6.2. If you've only ever used the set-and-forget vanilla table, this is a big change, and it's a lot of fun once it clicks.[1][2]

The table now runs on stats from your bookshelves. Eterna is enchanting strength and raises the level cost. Quanta controls how much randomness is involved. Arcana raises the number of enchantments you get and makes rare ones more common. The table's max level goes up to 100, and the max levels of most enchantments are raised automatically too.[1]

The pack's own quest sums it up: 15 plain bookshelves won't cut it anymore. You'll want the new shelves, and the questbook walks you through them starting at "Apothic Enchanting" quest.[3]

What you get

Where it fits in progression

The shelf quests for Hellshelves and Seashelves unlock after the Infusing quest. So you'll start building your enchanting setup once you've reached infusion. The Apothic Enchanting chapter is where you learn how to set everything up.[3]

The mod also sits on the ATM Star path. The quest "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest asks for Infused Dragon's Breath, which comes from infusing Dragon's Breath using a mix of Soul-Touched Sculkshelves, Heart-Forged Seashelves, normal bookshelves and a Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability. That quest unlocks after Apothic Mods, and the quest text says the item is needed for other recipes as well.[5]

How do you get started with Apothic-Enchanting?

4 parts

Enchanting works very differently here than in vanilla. The first quest in the chapter says it plainly: 15 bookshelves won't be enough anymore. The Enchanting Table's max level goes up to 100, and what you get depends on stats that your bookshelves provide.[1][3]

There are three main stats. Eterna sets the max enchanting level. Quanta adds randomness, and Arcana makes rare enchantments more common and increases the number of enchantments you get.[1][6]

Step one: make your table

Everything starts at the table. The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[7]

This recipe is changed by the pack.

The first quest accepts either a vanilla Enchanting Table or the Apothic Enchanting Table, which the mod describes as a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table. See "Apothic Enchanting" quest.[3][6]

Step two: surround it with bookshelves

There are 32 valid bookshelf spots: the ring around the table (corners included) on the table's level, and the same ring one level up. Each spot needs an air block between it and the table. Start with the Basic Bookshelf.[1][7]

Eterna from shelves works as a step ladder, where lower-max blocks count first. Per the mod page, 15 bookshelves (max 30) give you 30 Eterna. A Hellshelf has a max of 45, so adding one raises you to 33. That's why you move on to better shelves.[1]

Step three: choose Hellshelves or Seashelves

These are your first real upgrade. A Hellshelf gives 3 Eterna and 3% Quanta, and a Seashelf gives 3 Eterna and 3% Arcana. The quests ask for 16 of one kind: 15 around the table and 1 to infuse. In the Hellshelf quest, make the first 11 and it hands you the last 5. The Seashelf quest also gives you extras once you collect 11. See "Hellshelves" quest and "Seashelves" quest.[3]

Step four: infuse your first upgraded shelf

With 15 Hellshelves around the table you have 45 Eterna and 30% Quanta, which the quest calls the perfect amount to infuse your last Hellshelf. An Infused Hellshelf gives 5 Eterna with a max of 60, plus 5% Quanta. The Infused Seashelf works the same way but gives 5% Arcana instead. See "Infused Hellshelves" quest and "Infused Seashelf" quest.[3]

Infused shelves are the base for the next tier of shelves, such as the Crystalline Seashelf, and the Enchantment Library needs one as well.[3][7]

Crystalline Seashelves keep the Infused Seashelf's 5 Eterna and 5% Arcana and add 3% Quanta. See the Crystalline Seashelf quest.

Tip: More Quanta also makes weaker enchantments more common. The Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability removes that downside. It needs a Budding Amethyst, which can't be mined even with Silk Touch, so you'll need a Ritual or an Infusion to get one. See "Negative Enchantments Removal" quest.[3]

How does Apothic-Enchanting work?

9 parts

Apothic Enchanting doesn't add machines, power or fluids. Everything revolves around the enchanting table and the blocks you put around it. Learn how those blocks feed the table's stats and you've learned the mod.[1]

Enchanting stats

The mod adds Enchanting Stats, special properties that bookshelves give to the table. There are three primary stats. Eterna measures enchanting strength and sets the max enchanting level. Quanta measures randomness and decides how much RNG is involved. Arcana makes rare enchantments more common and increases the number of enchantments you get. You can see all three right in the table's GUI.[1][6]

The table's max level goes up to 100, and the max levels of most enchantments are raised automatically. Some enchantments only show up past level 30.[1][6]

Where shelves have to go

There are 32 valid bookshelf locations: the ring around the table (corners included) on the table's own y-level, plus the same ring one level above. There has to be an air block between the table and the shelf, or it won't count. Other stat blocks, such as skulls or candles, only work in those same locations.[1]

Some blocks give stats dynamically, so the tooltip isn't always exact. Candles are the example: you can stack up to 4 in one block space, and stacking gives more Arcana. Blocks with no specific stats that would normally provide enchanting power give the same Eterna as usual, with a max of 30. Stats can also be changed via datapack.[1]

The Eterna step-ladder

Most blocks declare a max Eterna, which is the most that block can contribute to before its Eterna bonus is discarded. The table counts the lowest-max blocks first, so you do not need to remove your low-max shelves to reach higher levels.[1]

Tip: For example, 15 bookshelves (max 30) give you 30 Eterna. Adding one more bookshelf changes nothing, but adding a Hellshelf (max 45) lifts you to 33.[1]

Shelf tooltips show the stats each block provides, and the table's info screen lists the enchantments available to you. That screen is the quickest way to check what a layout actually does.[1][6]

Secondary stats

  • Enchanting Clues change how many of the enchantments on offer you see when hovering a slot. More clues is generally better.[1]
  • Quantic Stability makes Quanta only beneficial, so it can no longer cause negative effects.[1]
  • Allowing Treasure makes treasure enchantments such as Mending show up on the table. Curses count as treasure enchantments too, so be careful.[1]
  • Enchantment Filters let you blacklist enchantments from the table, which removes unwanted ones from the pool.[1]

The Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration is the filter block. Insert enchanted books into it to stop them from appearing in the table. It also gains Eterna and Arcana based on how many books it holds.[1][6][7]

Table variants

The Apothic Enchanting Table is a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table. The pack changed its recipe from the mod's version.[6][7]

Tomes

Tomes act like books when you enchant them, but they only accept enchantments for one type of item. There are nine in total: helmets, chestplates, leggings, boots, swords, bows, pickaxes and fishing poles, plus one for enchantments that fit none of those. For example, the Tome of the Archers accepts bow enchantments, and the Tome of the Others takes miscellaneous ones.[1][6][7]

There are also tomes for removing enchantments from an item. The Tome of Scrapping pulls half of the enchantments and destroys the item. The Tome of Superior Scrapping pulls all of them but still destroys the item. The Tome of Extraction pulls all of them and leaves the item intact.[1][6]

The Enchantment Library

The Enchantment Library stores enchantments. Insert an enchanted book to deposit it. Left-clicking a stored enchantment extracts one level, and shift-clicking extracts the max level available. The tooltip shows how many points are stored out of the maximum and the highest level currently available.[6][7]

Experience costs

Experience costs are normalized for both the Enchanting Table and the Anvil. Only the true amount of experience is deducted, instead of levels subtracted from your current level, so you don't have to micromanage your XP to avoid wasting it.[1]

How do you progress through Apothic-Enchanting?

7 parts

Enchanting in this pack is a ladder you climb one shelf tier at a time. You start at the Apothic Enchanting Table and finish with a maxed-out table setup. The quests say plainly that 15 plain bookshelves won't be enough anymore. Everything revolves around three stats: Eterna, Quanta and Arcana. The pack changed the table's recipe from the mod default, so use this one:[3][7]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod default.

What the three stats do

  • Quanta mixes up the enchantment pool, but the more you have, the more common weaker enchantments become. The default is 15% and the max is 100%.[3]
  • Arcana increases how many enchantments you get and makes rare ones more common. The default is 0% and the max is 100%.[3]
  • Eterna comes from your shelves, and higher shelf tiers raise its maximum: 60 for the infused shelves, 75 for the Echoing and Soul-Touched Deepshelves, 80 for the Sculkshelves, 90 for the Endshelf and 100 for the Draconic Endshelf.[3]

Tier 1: Hellshelves or Seashelves

This is where you choose a side. Hellshelf gives 3% Quanta and 3 Eterna, and Seashelf gives 3% Arcana and 3 Eterna. For the infusion step you want 15 of them around the table plus 1 to infuse. Both quests come after the Infusing quest: "Hellshelves" quest and "Seashelves" quest.[3]

Infused Hellshelf and Infused Seashelf each give 5 Eterna, up to a max of 60, plus 5% of their stat (Quanta or Arcana). See "Infused Hellshelves" quest and "Infused Seashelf" quest, which both come after the quest called The Frontier Calls.[3]

Tier 2: Crystalline and Glowing shelves

Both lines have an upgrade you need in bulk. Crystalline Seashelf keeps 5 Eterna and 5% Arcana and adds 3% Quanta, and the quest wants 12 of them. Glowing Hellshelf keeps the same Eterna and Quanta and gives 3.3333% Arcana, and the quest suggests 13 of them. Heart-Forged Seashelf is a pricier Seashelf upgrade that gives lots of Arcana for later infusions.[3]

Tier 3: Deepshelves and Sculkshelves

Here the two paths merge. Infusing a Dormant Deepshelf into a Deepshelf needs 60 Eterna, 40% Quanta and 40% Arcana. You can reach that with 12 Crystalline Seashelves or 13 Glowing Hellshelves. See "Deepshelf" quest.[3]

Tier 4: Infused Dragon's Breath and the Endshelves

With max Eterna at 80 you can infuse Dragon's Breath into Infused Dragon's Breath. The Apothic Enchanting chapter suggests 4 Echoing Sculkshelves, 4 Soul-Touched Sculkshelves and 6 Geode-Encased Bookshelves of Stability, which gives 80 Eterna, 25% Quanta and 100% Arcana. The ATM Star quest of the same name suggests a different setup: 2 Soul-Touched Sculkshelves, 3 Heart-Forged Seashelves, 8 normal bookshelves and 1 Geode-Encased Bookshelf. See "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest and "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest.[3][5]

The Draconic Endshelf ("Draconic Endshelf" quest) reaches the max Eterna of 100 and is the last shelf you need. The Pearlescent Endshelf also gives max Eterna 90, but the quest says it isn't what you want for max enchanting.[3]

The end-game setup

The quest "Best Enchanting set-up" quest comes after the Draconic Endshelf quest and lays out the best setup without the Raven table. Use 5 Soul-Touched Sculkshelves and 5 Echoing Sculkshelves for Quanta and Arcana, and the Draconic Endshelf for 100 Eterna. Add the Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability so Quanta doesn't backfire. Optionally add the Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures, which allows enchantments you normally can't get, like Mending.[3]

The Enchanting Table of the Raven lets you set Eterna, Quanta and Arcana directly, with no shelves, so any infusion becomes easy. Its quest is "Enchanting Table of the Raven" quest, and the pack changed its recipe.[3][7]

Infusion targets along the way

  • Flimsy Ender Lead holds animals only and breaks after 8 uses. The pack changed its recipe.[3][7]
  • Ender Lead also holds hostile mobs and breaks after 64 uses. It needs at least 45 Eterna, 25% Quanta and 40% Arcana, which 9 Crystalline Seashelves provide.[3]
  • Occult Ender Lead is unbreakable and can bind mobs to Spawners. It needs at least 75 Eterna, 85% Quanta and 60-85% Arcana, plus a Witch in the Ender Lead used for the infusion.[3]
  • The scrapping line runs from Tome of Scrapping (half the enchantments, breaks the item) to Tome of Superior Scrapping (all enchantments, breaks the item) to Tome of Extraction (all enchantments, item kept). Each step is an infusion of the previous tome.[3][7]
  • The Enchantment Library stores up to 32,768 points of each enchanted book. Infusing it gives the Library of Alexandria, which holds 1.1 Billion points per book.[3][7]

How does Apothic-Enchanting work with other mods?

4 parts

Apothic Enchanting plugs into a handful of other mods in this pack, mostly through crafting recipes. Some of these recipes were added by the pack, and others were changed by it, so what you craft here can differ from the mod's defaults. Everything below comes from in-pack recipes and quests.[7]

All the Tweaks portals and the Dragon Soul

The pack adds recipes for the miniature portals from All the Tweaks, and each one needs shelves or items from this mod. The Miniature End Portal uses the Draconic Endshelf and the Endshelf. The Miniature Exit Portal uses Infused Dragon's Breath and the Soul-Touched Sculkshelf. The Miniature Nether Portal uses the Hellshelf of Masterful Sight.[7]

Quests that touch other mods

The "Flimsy Ender Lead" quest quest points out that picking up mobs is also possible with Soul Gems and Creature Catchers. The Flimsy Ender Lead is the cheapest Ender Lead and can only hold animals.[3]

The Apothic Spawners quest chapter has a quest called "That's no Spawn Egg!" (a quest in "Apothic Spawners") whose task is the Occult Ender Lead.[4]

Which All the Mons quests use Apothic-Enchanting?

5 parts

Most of this mod's quests sit in the Apothic Enchanting chapter, and a few more show up in other chapters. The chapter opens with "Apothic Enchanting" quest, which asks for an Enchanting Table or an Apothic Enchanting Table. Its text says 15 bookshelves won't be enough with the changes to enchanting, and that the rest of the chapter is there to explain the new bookshelves and table actions.[3]

Tomes

The tome quests all come after a quest named Tomes. "Armor Tomes" quest asks for any one of the four armor tomes, "Tool Tomes" quest for the Tome of the Miners or Tome of the Fishers, "Weapon Tomes" quest for the Tome of Weaponry or Tome of the Archers, and "ETC. Tomes" quest for the Tome of the Others, which its text describes as the source of the rest of the enchantments.[3]

The disenchanting tomes form their own chain in the quest book. "Tome of Scrapping" quest comes first, and its text says it takes half the enchantments off an item and breaks the item. "Tome of Superior Scrapping" quest comes after it, and its text says it takes every enchantment off and also breaks the item. a quest in "Apothic Enchanting" comes after that and asks for the Tome of Extraction, which its text says removes all enchantments and leaves the item alone.[3]

Hellshelf and Seashelf paths

After a quest named Infusing, the chapter splits into two routes. The Nether route starts with "Hellshelves" quest and then "Infused Hellshelves" quest. Three quests follow Infused Hellshelves: "Blazing Hellshelf" quest, "Glowing Hellshelf" quest and "Enchanting Clues" quest, which asks for the two Enchanting Clue shelves.[3]

The sea route starts with "Seashelves" quest and then "Infused Seashelf" quest. Three quests follow the Infused Seashelf: "Crystalline Seashelf" quest, "Remove Enchantments from Pool" quest (its text describes a shelf where a book placed inside blacklists that enchantment from the pool) and "Heart-Forged Seashelf" quest.[3]

Three concept quests also come after Infusing: "Quanta" quest, "Arcana" quest and "Negative Enchantments Removal" quest. They cover Quanta, Arcana and the shelf that gets rid of the increased chance of worse enchantments. "Negative amounts" quest comes after the Arcana, Quanta and Eterna quests and asks for the shelves that lower those stats.[3]

Deepshelves and Ender Leads

The two routes come together at "Deepshelf" quest, which comes after a quest named Ascent to 60. After it you get "Echoing Deepshelf" quest and then "Echoing Sculkshelf" quest. The other branch is "Soul-Touched Deepshelf" quest and then "Soul-Touched Sculkshelf" quest.[3]

The Ender Lead quests run in three tiers. "Flimsy Ender Lead" quest holds animals only and breaks after 8 uses. "Ender Lead" quest can hold hostile mobs and breaks after 64 uses. "Occult Ender Lead" quest is unbreakable and can bind mobs to spawners. "Making a real Trident" quest shows how to turn an Inert Trident into a real one.[3]

Endgame

  1. "Infused Dragon's Breath" quest asks for Infused Dragon's Breath.[3]
  2. "Endshelves" quest comes after it. Its text says the Endshelf's stats aren't currently the best, but its max Eterna of 90 is incredible.[3]
  3. "Draconic Endshelf" quest and "Pearlescent Endshelf" quest both come after the Endshelves quest.[3]
  4. "Best Enchanting set-up" quest is the best set-up quest. It comes after the Draconic Endshelf quest and asks for five different shelves.[3]

Two extra quests sit beside that line. "Enchantment Library" quest covers book storage, and "Library of Alexandria" quest is the upgrade, which comes after the Enchantment Library, Other Infusion Items and Pinnacle quests. "Enchanting Table of the Raven" quest comes after a quest named God-Fused Pearl, and its text says it lets you customize Eterna, Quanta and Arcana without shelves.[3]
