What is Draconic Evolution?

3 parts

Draconic Evolution is the pack's end-game tech mod. Its project page describes high-tier tools and armor, high-tier RF energy storage, and extras like teleportation, mob farming, player detection, and time and weather control. The mod's author also admits that this description is old, so use it as a rough guide and lean on the pack's quest chapter for specifics.[1]

The pack ships Draconic Evolution 3.1.4.632.[2]

Who it is for

This one is for you if you want powerful gear and a huge power bank to go with it. The quest chapter calls it a very fun and OP mod. Gear comes in Basic (Draconium), Wyvern, Draconic and Chaotic tiers, and each tier has its own quests.[3]

Getting started

Your first step is to mine Draconic Ore for Draconium Dust. According to the quest, it spawns in all vanilla dimensions, with the most in the End. From there, Draconium Core is a vital ingredient in many recipes, especially Basic tier items.[3]

Tip: Modules are so important that Draconic Evolution items don't work without them. Most modules are made from a Module Core or from a previous module. Hold an item and press Shift and C to open the Module Menu. It shows the module slots, the grid that limits how many modules fit, and which modules can go on that item.[3]

Power and bosses

For power storage, the quests point you to the Energy Core, which they call one of the greatest energy banks in Minecraft. It is a multiblock, and its GUI has a Build Guide, Tier Down, Tier Up and Assemble Core. Tier 1 stores 45,500,000 RF and needs only the core and 4 Energy Core Stabilizer blocks.[3]

The chapter also covers the Chaos Guardian fight. Its first stage is destroying 14 Guardian Crystals, which hold the Guardian's shield. The quest warns this is no easy task without a Draconic weapon.[3]

How do you get started with Draconic Evolution?

5 parts

Draconic Evolution adds high-tier tools, armor and energy storage. In this pack its quest chapter gives you a clear order to work in, and here is that order with the reasons behind it.[1][3]

Find Draconium first

Everything starts with Draconium Dust. The opening quest "Draconic Evolution" quest tells you to mine Draconic Ore to get it. The ore spawns in all vanilla dimensions, but the most is in the End.[3]

Craft a Draconium Core

The quest "Basic (Draconium) Core" quest calls the Draconium Core a vital ingredient in many Draconic Evolution recipes, especially Basic Tier items. It is used in the recipes for the Fusion Crafting Core, the Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector, the Energy Pylon and the Draconium Chest, so make it early.[3][4]

Draconium ingots can also be compressed into a Draconium Block. Later recipes, like the Draconium Chest and the Wyvern Fusion Crafting Injector, ask for one.[4]

Set up fusion crafting

Several of the mod's bigger items use a fusion crafting recipe type instead of a normal crafting table. The Draconium Chest and the Wyvern Fusion Crafting Injector are two examples. The two basic pieces are the Fusion Crafting Core and the Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector.[4]

Learn how modules work

The quest "Modules!" quest says Draconic Evolution items don't work without modules. Most modules are made from a Module Core or from a previous module. Hold an item and press Shift and C to open the Module Menu. The slots are where modules go, and the grid decides how many fit. A module marked 1x1 takes 1 slot, and a 2x2 one takes up 4.[3]

The Energy Module ("Basic Energy Module" quest) is the most important one. Energy modules are needed to use Draconic Evolution items at all. They also set how much OP an item can hold and take in, and later tiers of energy module let items hold and use more.[3]

Build your first Energy Core

Next you want somewhere to store all that OP. The quest "Energy Core Mulitblock" quest calls the Energy Core one of the greatest energy banks in all of Minecraft. Here is the Tier 1 setup, following the quests:[3]

  1. Place the Energy Core a bit off the ground. Its GUI has Build Guide, Tier Down, Tier Up and Assemble Core. If you have all the blocks for a tier, Assemble Core builds it automatically.[3]
  2. Tier 1 only needs the core and 4 Energy Core Stabilizer blocks placed around it. If they are too close or in the wrong spots, the game tells you.[3]
  3. Place at least 2 Energy Pylon blocks close to the core, 1 for input and 1 for output. Place glass over them and they assemble automatically, targeting the closest Energy Core. Right-click the newly formed balls on top of the pylons to switch between input and output.[3]
  4. Attach crystals to the pylons to move OP in and out.[3]

Tip: A Tier 1 core stores 45,500,000 RF according to the quest. For the first 4 tiers of cores you only need 4 stabilizers around the core, and you can open the core's GUI through the stabilizers too.[3]

How does Draconic Evolution work?

6 parts

Draconic Evolution is built around high-tier energy (RF) storage, teleportation, mob farming, player detection, and time and weather control. This section covers the systems the available sources actually describe, from the Energy Core multiblock to Fusion Crafting. Exact numbers like capacities, transfer rates and crafting costs aren't in those sources, so I won't guess at them.[1][5]

The Energy Core multiblock

The mod's big energy storage is the Energy Core, a multiblock with a GUI titled with its current tier. In that GUI you get buttons to Assemble Core, Activate and Deactivate, plus Tier Up and Tier Down. If the structure is wrong you'll see a "Core structure invalid" message, and a separate "Stabilizer configuration invalid" message tells you the Energy Core Stabilizers are placed badly. Some tiers show a note that advanced stabilizers are required.[5]

There's also a Toggle Build Guide button, which is handy while you're placing blocks. The GUI has colour customisation and a legacy renderer toggle too, but those are cosmetic.[5]

The GUI also has an Energy Target field. It is for display only, and it accepts plain numbers or scientific notation. The example given is 9.223E18, which means 9,223,000,000,000,000,000.[5]

The controller items step up from the Wyvern Energy Controller to the Draconic Energy Controller and then the Chaotic Energy Controller. Here are the in-pack recipes for the upgrades.[4]

Moving power around

The mod has relay, I/O and wireless Energy Crystals in Basic, Wyvern and Draconic tiers, as well as an Energy Pylon, an Energy Transfuser and a Flux Gate. Linking works through a tool that binds to a device. Its messages include "Devices linked.", plus Clear Links and Clear Receivers options. The tool's HUD shows Charge and Links.[5]

The lowest wireless option, the Basic Wireless Energy Crystal, is crafted like this:[4]

The sources don't give link ranges or transfer rates for any crystal.[5]

Fusion Crafting

Fusion crafting is a dedicated recipe type in this mod, and 27 of the mod's recipes in the pack's recipe dump use it. The blocks involved are the Fusion Crafting Core and the Fusion Crafting Injectors in Draconium, Wyvern, Draconic and Chaotic versions.[4][5]

You can see this in the recipe for the Chaotic Fusion Crafting Injector, which is itself fusion-crafted using the Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector.[4]

The pack adds a few recipes of its own around this. A pack-added shapeless recipe takes a Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector and gives one back. A pack-added Create crushing recipe turns an Awakened Draconium Ingot into Awakened Draconium Dust, and the mod's own smelting recipe turns that dust back into an ingot.[4]

Teleportation and the Dislocator

The dislocator works from a saved list of locations. Sneak and right click to bind your current X, Y and Z, the direction you're facing and your dimension. Ender Pearls act as teleport fuel, and the fuel counter shows how many teleports remain. You can add 1, 16 or all of the Ender Pearls in your inventory.[5]

In the dislocator's GUI you can add, rename, drag to reorder, delete and lock entries. You can also update the selected entry to where you're standing with Set Here. Right click switches between Teleport to Selected and Blink, and you can configure keybindings for this.[5]

The Dislocator Pedestal is a separate block with its own recipe.[4]

Filtered (Sticky) works like Filtered but keeps one item behind so the filter persists. You can also change the chest's colour.[5]
  • The Disenchanter's GUI shows the level of the enchantment and the XP cost in levels.[5]
  • The mod also adds a Mob Grinder, a Stabilized Mob Spawner, an Entity Detector (with an Advanced version), a Rain Sensor, a Potentiometer, a Fluid Gate and a Dislocation Normalization Field Projector. The sources only list their names, so I can't say how they behave.[5]

How do you progress through Draconic Evolution?

6 parts

Draconic Evolution in this pack is a ladder of four tiers: Draconium (the quests call it Basic), Wyvern, Draconic and Chaotic. The same four names cover Fusion Crafting injectors, modules, tools and armor. The quest chapter walks you up the ladder, so here is the path in order.[3]

Getting started

The first quest, "Draconic Evolution" quest, tells you to mine Draconic Ore for Draconium Dust. It spawns in all vanilla dimensions, but the most is in the End.[3]

If you already have Draconium Ingots, the pack adds ways to turn them into dust. There are crushing recipes for Create, Immersive Engineering, Mekanism and Occultism, plus a hammer recipe that works with any ore hammer.[4]

Next comes "Basic (Draconium) Core" quest. The Draconium Core is a vital ingredient in many recipes, especially Basic tier items.[3]

Fusion Crafting and the injector tiers

Most of the fun items are made through Fusion Crafting. Per "Fusion Crafting" quest, you place a Fusion Crafting Core about a block above the ground. Recipes can be auto-placed into it from JEI, and the finished item appears there too.[3]

The injectors set the tier of what you can craft. They go to the left and right of the core, a few blocks away, in a cross shape with a maximum of 5 on each side. They need energy, which you supply with Relay I/O Crystals connected to them. "Basic Tier" quest covers all of this.[3]

  1. Basic: craft the Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector in a normal crafting grid.[4]
  2. Wyvern: the Wyvern Fusion Crafting Injector is a fusion recipe that upgrades the Basic injector.[4]
  3. Draconic: the Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector is a fusion recipe that upgrades the Wyvern injector.[4]
  4. Chaotic: the Chaotic Fusion Crafting Injector is a fusion recipe that upgrades the Draconic injector.[4]

Power: OP and the Energy Core

Draconic Evolution runs on OP (Operational Potential), moved mainly by I/O Relay Crystals. "What is Energy or as we call it, OP?" quest gives you the Crystal Binder. To put OP into items you need an Energy Transfuser, covered in "Adding OP to items" quest. The item must already have an Energy Module in it.[3]

For bulk storage, "Energy Core Mulitblock" quest introduces the Energy Core. Its GUI has Build Guide, Tier Down, Tier Up and Assemble Core buttons. If you have all the blocks, Assemble Core builds the multiblock for you. Pylons handle input and output, as explained in "Power comes and goes through these" quest.[3]

  • Tier 1 stores 45,500,000 RF and needs only the core and 4 Energy Core Stabilizer blocks.[3]
  • Tier 2 stores 273,000,000 RF. It adds 6 Draconium Block blocks, one on each side of the core, on top of the 4 stabilizers.[3]
  • The first 4 core tiers only need 4 stabilizers. The quest chapter also has Tier 3 through Tier 8 quests, but their details were not available to me.[3]

Modules and gear tiers

Draconic Evolution items don't work without modules. "Modules!" quest explains that you hold an item and press Shift and C to open the Module Menu. The Grid decides how many modules fit, and a 2x2 module takes up 4 slots.[3]

The Energy Module from "Basic Energy Module" quest is the most important one. It sets how much OP an item can hold and take in, and later energy modules raise that.[3]

Module quests are chained in tier order. For example, the Wyvern Energy Module quest comes after the Basic Energy Module quest, and the Draconic and Chaotic versions follow the same pattern. The Chaotic modules are crafted from the matching Draconic module, as in this example.[3][4]

The chapter also has tier quests ("Wyvern Tier" quest, "Draconic Tier" quest, "Chaotic Tier" quest) and quests for each tier's tools, bows and chestplates. The chestplate quests are mainly about shield, flight and other modules.[3]

Chaos Guardian and Reactor

The Chaos Guardian fight starts with "Locate and Destroy 14 Guardian Crystals" quest. In the first stage you break the crystals that hold the Guardian's shield, which is hard without a Draconic weapon. The quest's task item is Draconium Infused Obsidian.[3]

How does Draconic Evolution work with other mods?

3 parts

Draconic Evolution items show up in a handful of recipes from other mods in this pack. The in-pack recipe data shows links to Mystical Agriculture and its Additions add-on, Productive Bees, and a custom Time in a Bottle recipe. Every recipe below is shown exactly as the pack defines it.[4]

Mystical Agriculture and Mystical Agradditions

Mystical Agriculture essences can be turned into Draconic Evolution materials. The recipe that turns Draconium Essence into a Draconium Ingot is marked as changed by the pack, so don't assume the mod's default behavior.[4]

Which All the Mons quests use Draconic Evolution?

    6 parts

Everything for this mod that I can confirm sits in one quest chapter, called Draconic Evolution. Most of it is a tree of upgrade quests, so the order below follows what each quest unlocks after.[3]

    Getting started

    1. "Draconic Evolution" quest is the entry point. It asks for Draconium Dust, which you get by mining Draconic Ore. The quest says it spawns in all vanilla dimensions, with the most in the End.[3]
    2. "Basic (Draconium) Core" quest comes right after it and asks for a Draconium Core. The quest calls it a vital ingredient, especially for Basic Tier items.[3]
    3. "Modules!" quest asks for a Module Core. It explains that DE items don't work without modules. Hold an item and press Shift and C to open the Module Menu.[3]
    4. "Energy Core Mulitblock" quest asks for the Energy Core, the heart of the Energy Core multiblock.[3]

    Fusion crafting and energy

After the Basic Core, "Fusion Crafting" quest asks for the Fusion Crafting Core. The next quest, "Basic Tier" quest, asks for a Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector. It explains that the injector decides the fusion tier, going Draconium, Wyvern, Draconic, then Chaotic. You can place a maximum of 5 injectors on each side of the core.[3]

Once you have Basic Tier, two more quests open up: "Draconium Chest" quest asks for the Draconium Chest, and "Basic Energy Relay Crystal" quest asks for the Basic Energy Relay Crystal.[3]

The energy line also starts from the Basic Core. "What is Energy or as we call it, OP?" quest asks for the Crystal Binder. "Moving OP" quest then asks for an I/O crystal (Basic, Wyvern or Draconic all count). "Adding OP to items" quest asks for the Energy Transfuser, which charges your items.[3]

    Energy Core tiers

Three quests unlock after the Energy Core multiblock quest: "Energy Core Stabilizers" quest for the Energy Core Stabilizer, "Power comes and goes through these" quest for the Energy Pylon, and the first tier quest. The tier quests then run in a chain, each needing the one before.[3]

    Module quests

Most of the chapter is modules, and nearly all of them unlock after the Modules! quest. The upgrade chains go Basic, then Wyvern, then Draconic, then Chaotic. Damage runs from "Basic Damage Module" quest to "Wyvern Damage Module" quest, "Draconic Damage Module" quest and "Chaotic Damage Module" quest. Energy starts at "Basic Energy Module" quest and continues with "Wyvern Energy Module" quest and "Draconic Energy Module" quest. Speed, jump, area-of-effect, auto feed, flight, tree harvesting and the projectile modules follow the same pattern.[3]

A few quests have two prerequisites. "Wyvern Undying Module" quest needs Modules! and the Wyvern Shield Capacity quest. "Draconic Undying Module" quest needs the Wyvern Undying quest and "Draconic Shield Capacity Module" quest.[3]

Some modules start at Wyvern level with no Basic version: "Mining Stabilizer Module" quest, "Night Vision Module" quest, "Aqua Adapt Module" quest, "Hill Step Module" quest, "Auto Fire Module" quest and "Selective Incineration Module" quest. The energy link chain runs "Wireless Energy Link" quest, then "Quantum Energy Tunnel" quest, then "Chaos-Entangled Quantum Energy Tunnel" quest. The quest text says the better tunnels work across dimensions, as long as the other side is chunkloaded.[3]

    The Chaos Guardian

"Locate and Destroy 14 Guardian Crystals" quest comes after a quest called Where is he? and asks for Draconium Infused Obsidian. It describes the first stage of the Chaos Guardian fight, where you must break the crystals protecting his shield before you can damage him. "Chaos Shard{s}" quest unlocks after the Kill the Chaos Guardian quest and asks for a Chaos Shard. Mining the shard gives you 5 Chaos Shards.[3]

    Other chapters

The Apothic Spawners chapter has an untitled quest, a quest in "Apothic Spawners", labelled Draconic.[6]

Unverified The quest list also includes Wyvern, Draconic and Chaotic tool, bow and chestplate quests, plus Tier 5 to Tier 8 core quests, reactor quests and an optional More Pylons quest. Their tasks and prerequisites were cut off in the available data, so I can't describe them. What the Apothic Spawners quest asks for is also unconfirmed.

What changed in Draconic Evolution between versions?

    2 parts

All the Mons 1.0.0-rc.6 ships Draconic Evolution 3.1.4.632 for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod was first included in All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a good while.[2]
