Time in a bottle is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 6.5.4. Accelerate your blocks! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Time in a bottle?

2 parts

Time in a Bottle lets you speed up tickable blocks like furnaces, crops and brewing stands. You carry a bottle that slowly stores time, then spend that time on a block to make it run faster. This pack ships version 6.5.4 of the NeoForge build.[1][2]

How it works

You need the bottle first, then you wait for its stored time to build up. Right click a block to speed it up, or Shift right click for blocks like the furnace. Each click doubles the speed applied, and the effect lasts 30 seconds.[1]

The mod's own page lists the stored time each click costs: x2 and x4 cost 30 seconds each, x8 costs 60, x16 costs 120, x32 costs 240 and x64 costs 480. It also describes an admin command, /tiab, that adds or removes seconds of time on a bottle. The config file is tiab-server.toml, in the serverconfig folder of the world.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

Among the quests whose text is available here, the one that mentions Time in a Bottle is in the Just Dire Things chapter. That chapter is in the Tech group and is chapter 49 of 70 in the book. It has 153 quests, and the text of 104 of them is not included here, so the rest is in the quest book itself.[3]

The quest is a quest in "Just Dire Things", which carries the subtitle "Cousin of the Time in a Bottle". It covers Time Wand, which accelerates blocks like the bottle, up to x128 speed. The wand runs on FE and Time Fluid instead of stored time, so it is much easier to refill. It is blacklisted for fake players, so you can't automate it. In the book it comes after Time Crystal, Blazegold, Ferricore and Time Fluid Bucket, plus one untitled quest.[3]

Unverified Whether the ATM Star path uses Time in a Bottle is not shown by the sources here. Check the quest book in game to see how the path is laid out.

How do you get started with Time in a bottle?

3 parts

Your one must-make here is the Time in a Bottle. The pack adds its own crafting recipe for it, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs.[4]

Recipe id: kubejs:kjs/tiab_time_in_a_bottle

This recipe is added by the pack. It takes items from several different mods, so check the whole recipe before you start gathering.

One of the inputs is a Blazegold Pickaxe, so that is your first stop. In the quest book it sits in the Just Dire Things chapter (group Tech). Blazegold comes from the goo chain: Primogel Goo first, then Blazebloom Goo (which needs Nether materials), then "Blazegold" quest, which you get by performing Goo Spread on Gold Blocks with tier two goo or higher.[3][4]

Using it

  1. Craft the bottle with the recipe above.[4]
  2. Keep it with you and let it collect time on its own. The tooltip shows your stored time and the total accumulated time.[1][5]
  3. Right click a tickable block, like a furnace, crops or a brewing stand. For blocks like the furnace, use Shift right click instead.[1]
  4. Click again to go faster. Each click doubles the speed applied, and each use lasts 30 seconds.[1]

What each click costs

The mod's project page lists the stored time each click needs: x2 costs 30 seconds, x4 costs 30 seconds, x8 costs 60 seconds, x16 costs 120 seconds, x32 costs 240 seconds and x64 costs 480 seconds, with the cost doubling each step after that. Spend your stored time on the jobs that really make you wait, like big smelting batches or slow crops.[1]

Unverified The mod keeps its limits (maximum stored time, duration of each use and maximum speed multiplier) in a server config file inside the world folder. The sources here show no config file for the mod in this pack, so whether the pack changes any of the default numbers above is unverified.

The mod also adds a recipe viewer category called TIAB Blacklisted Blocks.[5]

Tip: The mod has an admin command, /tiab with addTime or removeTime and a number of seconds, which adds or removes time from a bottle. It's handy for testing, but it's an admin tool, so don't lean on it for normal play.[1]

A cousin in the quest book

The a quest in "Just Dire Things" quest in the Just Dire Things chapter describes the Time Wand as a cousin of the Time in a Bottle. It comes after the Time Crystal, "Blazegold" quest, "Ferricore" quest and Time Fluid Bucket quests, and after an untitled quest.[3]

The quest says the wand accelerates blocks like the bottle, up to x128 speed. It runs on FE and Time Fluid instead of stored time, which makes it easier to refill. It is blacklisted for fake players, so you can't automate it.[3]

How does Time in a bottle work?

5 parts

Time in a Bottle is a simple but powerful idea: it speeds up how fast a block gets ticked. Point it at a furnace, a crop or a brewing stand and that block works faster for a while. The bottle also collects time on its own, and that stored time is what you spend.[1]

Storing time

You don't charge the bottle by hand. Once you have it, you just wait and the stored time goes up. Hover over it and the tooltip shows two readings: the stored time you can spend right now, and the total accumulated time.[1][5]

Using the bottle

  1. Hold the bottle and wait until it has enough stored time.[1]
  2. Right click a tickable block. For blocks like the furnace, shift right click instead.[1]
  3. The block is sped up. Each click doubles the speed applied, and the effect lasts 30 seconds.[1]

Clicking again stacks another doubling, but each step costs more stored time. This is the cost of each click according to the mod's project page:[1]

  • x2: 30 seconds of stored time[1]
  • x4: 30 seconds[1]
  • x8: 60 seconds[1]
  • x16: 120 seconds[1]
  • x32: 240 seconds[1]
  • x64: 480 seconds, and the pattern keeps doubling after that[1]
Tip: The cost doubles every step from x8 onwards, so a huge multiplier gets expensive quickly. If your stored time is limited, a few smaller boosts are easier to afford than one giant one.[1]

Settings

The mod keeps its settings in a server config file named tiab-server.toml, inside the world's serverconfig folder. The project page lists these defaults: a maximum stored time of 622,080,000 ticks, a tick constant of 20, a use duration of 30 seconds, and a maximum rate multiplier of 8, which means up to 2^8 = 256 times faster.[1]

Unverified This pack has no config file for the mod that we could check, so we can't confirm whether it changes any of those default values.

Changing time with a command

The mod includes a single admin command to add time to a bottle or remove it: /tiab followed by addTime or removeTime and an amount in seconds.[1]

Crafting it in this pack

The pack removes the mod's own recipe for the bottle and adds its own shaped recipe in a KubeJS script. This is the recipe to follow here, not the one from the mod's project page.[4][6]

How do you progress through Time in a bottle?

3 parts

Time in a Bottle is a single-craft item in this pack. Progression here is about what you unlock before you can make it, and the main quest-book help comes from one of its ingredients.[4][6]

The pack's recipe

The pack removes the mod's own recipe and replaces it with a custom shaped one. The crafting below is the pack's version, not the mod default.[4][6]

The in-pack recipe, added by the pack's own script after it removes the mod's original.

One of the inputs is a tool from Just Dire Things, so that mod's quest chapter is where the quest book helps you. The chapter sits in the Tech group, chapter 49 of 70.[3][4]

Following the Just Dire Things chain

Just Dire Things is built around Goo Spread, a crafting mechanic with four goo tiers. The quest path to the tool in this recipe runs like this:[3]

  1. Start with "Just Dire Things" quest, the chapter intro, then a quest in "Just Dire Things". The first goo tier needs basic Overworld materials.[3]
  2. Move on to a quest in "Just Dire Things", the second goo tier, which needs Nether materials. It comes after Primogel Goo in the book.[3]
  3. Do "Blazegold" quest. Blazegold is made by performing Goo Spread on Gold Blocks with tier two goo or higher.[3]
  4. Finish with a quest in "Just Dire Things", which asks for the Blazegold pickaxe and comes after the Blazegold quest.[3]
Tip: For the Just Dire Things part of the bottle recipe, the Blazegold pickaxe is the item you need, and Blazegold only calls for tier two goo or higher. You don't need the later goo tiers for that ingredient.[3][4]

The same chapter has a quest in "Just Dire Things", described as a cousin of the Time in a Bottle. It accelerates blocks, similarly to the bottle, up to x128 speed. Unlike the bottle, it uses FE and Time Fluid rather than stored time as fuel. The quest comes after the Time Crystal, Blazegold, Ferricore and Time Fluid Bucket quests.[3]

The Time Crystal itself sits behind the fourth and final goo tier, a quest in "Just Dire Things", which lists Time Crystal among the crafts it unlocks.[3]

How does Time in a bottle work with other mods?

2 parts

Time in a Bottle connects to other mods in this pack mainly through its crafting recipe, and through one Just Dire Things quest that compares it to a similar tool.[3][4]

A recipe built from other mods

The pack removes the mod's own recipe for Time in a Bottle and adds its own shaped recipe. It pulls in pickaxes and upgrade items from several other mods, plus an Experience Bottle, so you have to get items from a number of different mods before you can make it.[4][6]

Just Dire Things and the Time Wand

The "Just Dire Things" quest chapter sits in the Tech group, chapter 49 of 70 in the quest book. It has a quest for the Time Wand, a quest in "Just Dire Things", which is titled "Cousin of the Time in a Bottle". In the quest book it comes after the Time Crystal, Blazegold, Ferricore and Time Fluid Bucket quests.[3]

According to that quest, the Time Wand accelerates blocks like Time in a Bottle does, up to x128 speed. The difference is the fuel: the wand uses FE and Time Fluid instead of stored time, so it is much easier to refill. It is blacklisted for fake players, so you can't automate it.[3]

The same chapter has the material quests for Blazegold ("Blazegold" quest) and Ferricore ("Ferricore" quest), which the Time Wand quest follows. The Blazegold quest says Blazegold comes from performing Goo Spread on Gold Blocks with tier two goo or higher.[3]

Most of that chapter's quests are not shown here, so check the quest book for the rest of the Just Dire Things progression.[3]

Which All the Mons quests use Time in a bottle?

2 parts

Time in a Bottle has no quest chapter of its own in this pack. The only place the quest book brings it up is the "Just Dire Things" chapter, which sits in the Tech group (chapter 49 of 70). The mention is in the Time Wand quest, described there as a cousin of Time in a Bottle.[3]

The Time Wand quest

a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks you to obtain the Time Wand. Its text says the wand can accelerate blocks, similarly to Time in a Bottle, up to x128 speed. Unlike Time in a Bottle, it runs on FE and Time Fluid instead of stored time, so the quest calls it considerably easier to refill.[3]

Watch out: The Time Wand is blacklisted for fake players, so you can't automate it. The quest says this is deliberate.[3]

What comes before it

The Time Wand quest unlocks only after several others: an untitled checkmark quest, "Time Crystal" quest, "Blazegold" quest, "Ferricore" quest and a quest in "Just Dire Things". Here is how the chapter leads you there.[3]

  1. Start with "Just Dire Things" quest, the chapter intro, then a quest in "Just Dire Things". "Ferricore" quest comes after the Primogel Goo quest.[3]
  2. a quest in "Just Dire Things" follows Primogel Goo, and "Blazegold" quest comes after it.[3]
  3. Goo tiers continue with a quest in "Just Dire Things" and then a quest in "Just Dire Things", the fourth and final goo tier.[3]
  4. "Time Crystal" quest comes after Shadowpulse Goo. It has an observation task as well as the Time Crystal item. The text says Time Crystals grow on Budding Time Crystal Blocks, which need to collect time from the Overworld, the Nether and the End.[3]
  5. a quest in "Just Dire Things" is the base fluid quest. Then a quest in "Just Dire Things" comes after both it and the Time Crystal quest. Time Fluid is made by dropping a Time Crystal into Polymorphic Fluid.[3]
  6. Finally, a quest in "Just Dire Things" opens once all of those are done.[3]

The Time Fluid Bucket quest also leads to the Paradox Machine quest, a quest in "Just Dire Things", but that one isn't connected to Time in a Bottle.[3]

What changed in Time in a bottle between versions?

1 part

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Time in a bottle 6.5.4, using the NeoForge build of the mod. It has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so you've had it for a long time.[2]

Mod changelog highlights

  • 6.5.4: fixed Fabric and JEI issues. This is the version in the pack now.[2][7]
  • 6.5.3: cleaned up a lot of internal code and overhauled the /tiab command.[8]

If you used /tiab on an older version, 6.5.3 is the release where that command was overhauled, so it may behave differently from what you remember.[8]

Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries about this mod, so it is unverified whether or when the pack itself changed any of its values or recipes.
