Actually Additions is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 1.3.26. Fan-favorite magitech mod full of fun and useful gadgets (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Actually Additions?

2 parts

Actually Additions is a magitech mod packed with useful gadgets, and it's a great pick if you like building up from simple tools into wireless logistics and power. The pack includes version 1.3.26 of it.[1][2]

What it does

Everything starts with the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer, which turn minerals into powerful crystals. Those crystals unlock machines for processing and sorting items, lasers that move energy, items and fluids wirelessly, and renewable oil you can burn for power.[1]

Where it shows up in the pack

Early on, you'll meet the mod through power. The Coal Generator is one of the accepted options in the a quest in "New Beginning" quest, alongside generators from other mods. It's also accepted in the "Coal Generators" quest quest, which calls these some of the easiest generators to make. They're simple to use, give a decent amount of power depending on the fuel, and automatically pass power to adjacent blocks.[3][4]

The Lens of Disenchanting is another accepted item in the "Disenchanting Methods" quest quest. You put the lens into an Atomic Reconstructor, then throw an enchanted item and a single book in front of its laser. It separates a single enchantment from the item onto the book.[5]

Tip: The mod ships its own in-game booklet. If you're unsure where to begin, open it and read the intro and crystals chapters first.[6][7]

Unverified The sources don't show this mod on the ATM Star quest path, so don't count on the quests above to guide you through it.

How do you get started with Actually Additions?

5 parts

Actually Additions is a magitech mod built around turning minerals into powerful crystals with the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer. Those crystals then unlock machines, lasers and power generation. Here is the order I'd tackle things in this pack.[1]

Step one: craft the manual

Start with the Actually Additions Manual (WIP). It's the mod's in-game guide, and the mod even has an achievement for opening it. Here is the in-pack recipe.[8][9]

This is the manual's recipe as the pack lists it.

Canola Seeds have their own recipe too.

Tip: Sneak while looking at an Actually Additions block to see more information about it.[9]

Step two: build an Atomic Reconstructor

The Atomic Reconstructor is how you make crystals, and the mod has an achievement for making a crystal with it. It also takes lenses, which come up again at the end of this section.[1][5][9]

Craft this early, because crystals depend on it.

Step three: crystals and a Basic Coil

Crystals come in several kinds, such as Restonia Crystal and Void Crystal. Crystal shards can be crafted into full crystals, and crystals can be packed into blocks. Here is the shard-to-crystal step for Restonia.[8]

With a Restonia Crystal and some Black Quartz, you can make a Basic Coil. It is used in the recipes for the Crusher, the Auto-Breaker and the Coffee Maker.[8]

Step four: set up power

Next, make a Coal Generator. The quest "Coal Generators" quest in the Basic Power chapter calls it one of the easiest generators to make. It is simple to use, makes a decent amount of power based on the fuel you put in, and automatically distributes power to adjacent blocks. That quest comes after Early Game Power Options. The generator also counts for the early energy quest a quest in "New Beginning", alongside generators from other mods.[3][4]

Where to go next

The Lens of Disenchanting is a handy extra. It goes into an Atomic Reconstructor, and when you throw an enchanted item and a single book in front of the laser, it separates one enchantment from the item onto the book. The pack covers other disenchanting methods in the quest "Disenchanting Methods" quest.[5]

How does Actually Additions work?

6 parts

Actually Additions is built around one idea: you turn minerals into crystals, and the crystals unlock machines for processing and sorting items, plus lasers that move energy, items and fluids wirelessly. It also gives you renewable oil to burn for power. Here is how those systems fit together in this pack.[1]

Making crystals

The Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer are the machines that turn minerals into crystals. The mod even has an achievement for making a crystal with the Atomic Reconstructor. In this pack's config the reconstructor stores up to 300,000 energy (machineSettings.reconstructorPower), and its Mining Lens uses 60,000 energy (machineSettings.minerLensEnergy). Both values are the mod's own defaults.[1][8][9][10]

The pack's recipe list also has laser-type recipes that turn ordinary items into crystals. These two show the exact inputs:[8]

  • any coal

Empowering comes after that. It takes a base crystal plus a few extra items and gives you the empowered version. This is the Diamatine one:[1][8]

Power generation and storage

The simplest generator is the Coal Generator, and crafting one has its own achievement. The mod also has a Leaf-Eating Generator and an Oil Generator, and this pack's config shows their settings below.[8][9]

Laser relays

Laser relays are how you move things wirelessly. The mod has Energy, Advanced Energy and Extreme Energy Laser Relays, a Fluid Laser Relay, and Item and Advanced Item Laser Relays.[1][9]

In this pack's config, machineSettings.laserRelayLoss is true, so Energy Laser Relays lose energy. The Fluid Laser Relay is different: the pack changed machineSettings.fluidLaserTransferRate from the mod default of 10,000 to 2,147,483,647 per tick.[10]

Oil chain

The pack adds extra fluid recipes (type justdirethings:fluiddrop) to the oil line. With Crystallized Canola Seeds as the catalyst, refined canola oil becomes Crystallized Oil. With the empowered canola seed as the catalyst, Crystallized Oil becomes Empowered Oil. The pack also changed the Immersive Engineering cloche recipe that grows Canola Plant from seeds.[8][11]

Crushing

The mod has a Crusher and a Double Crusher, and the pack adds its own crushing recipes through a script. Raw iron, copper and gold each give 1 dust with a 0.5 chance of an extra one. Clay gives 4 clay balls and stone gives cobblestone, with no bonus. Sulfur and salt ores give 4 items each, also with a 0.5 chance of a bonus. Uraninite ores give 2, 4 or 6 raw uraninite for poor, regular and dense ores, with no bonus.[9][12]

Areas and configurator items

Tip: Hold Control over any Actually Additions item to see advanced info. In this pack's config this is turned on (other.advancedInfo).[10]

How do you progress through Actually Additions?

4 parts

In this pack, Actually Additions progression is mostly set by the recipes themselves. The quest book only touches the mod in a few places, so use the machines and crafting chain below as your roadmap.[3][4][8]

First power

Your first quest contact is power. The quest a quest in "New Beginning" sits in the New Beginning chapter, after the Power quest. It accepts a list of simple generators, and the Coal Generator is one of them.[4]

The Basic Power chapter then has "Coal Generators" quest in the Fossil Fuels group, after Early Game Power Options. It accepts the Coal Generator from this mod or one from Just Dire Things or RFTools Power. The quest describes these generators as simple to use. They make a decent amount of power based on the fuel you feed them, and they automatically hand power to adjacent blocks.[3]

The recipe is built around the Iron Casing, which also shows up in many of the machines below.[8]

Basic Coil machines

The Basic Coil is your first real gate. Once you have it, early machines open up, such as the Crusher, the Auto-Breaker, the Coffee Maker and the Battery Box. The recipe for the coil itself is just below.[8]

The Void Crystal also matters at this stage, because both the Auto-Breaker and the Coffee Maker use it. Crystals come as shards that compress into full crystals and then into blocks, and each of those steps can be reversed. The Restonia Crystal follows the same shard, crystal and block pattern. Black Quartz is the other base material to know: it crafts into a block, and that block can become stairs, slabs and walls.[8]

Advanced Coil

The Advanced Coil is the next step up, and this pack changed its recipe. Don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Use the recipe below.[8]

Empowered crystals and the Atomic Reconstructor

The top tier uses empowered crystals. The Bio Reactor needs an Empowered Enori Crystal, and the Lens of Disenchanting needs an Empowered Diamatine Crystal. Empowered crystals also compress into blocks, and those blocks can be turned back into crystals.[8]

The Atomic Reconstructor is the machine that uses lenses. The pack's Disenchanting Methods quest ("Disenchanting Methods" quest) accepts the Lens of Disenchanting as one option. You put the lens into the Atomic Reconstructor, then throw an enchanted item and a single book in front of its laser. It moves one enchantment from the item onto the book.[5]

Tip: That quest accepts several disenchanting methods, including an anvil, the Draconic Evolution Disenchanter and Industrial Foregoing's Enchantment Extractor. You don't have to use Actually Additions for it.[5]

How does Actually Additions work with other mods?

4 parts

Actually Additions doesn't live on its own in this pack. The pack's recipes and quests tie it into several other mods, and the clearest links are around Black Quartz, power generation and disenchanting.[3][4][5][8]

Mystical Agriculture: Black Quartz

The pack adds its own crafting recipe that turns Black Quartz Essence into Black Quartz. This recipe is a pack addition, so you won't find it in the mods' default content.[8]

Productive Bees: Black Quartz Bee

Productive Bees has a bee conversion recipe that takes Block of Black Quartz and gives the Productive Bees black quartz result. The pack has changed this recipe from the mod's version, so rely on the recipe below rather than any default.[8]

Early power: shared generator quests

The Coal Generator appears in the quest "Coal Generators" quest in the Basic Power chapter, which comes after Early Game Power Options. The quest accepts it or the Just Dire Things tier 1 generator or the RFTools Power coal generator. It describes these generators as some of the easiest to make and says they automatically distribute power to adjacent blocks.[3]

It also shows up in quest a quest in "New Beginning" in the New Beginning chapter, which comes after the Power quest. That quest accepts a long list of starter generators from Industrial Foregoing, Generator Galore, Mekanism Generators, Powah and RFTools Power. It frames them as the simple first step in energy creation, usually burning coal or lava to make FE.[4]

Disenchanting with other mods

The quest "Disenchanting Methods" quest lists the Lens of Disenchanting as one of several ways to move enchantments from an item onto a book. The others come from Draconic Evolution, Industrial Foregoing and Apothic Enchanting, plus a plain anvil setup.[5]

  1. Put the Lens of Disenchanting into an Atomic Reconstructor.[5]
  2. Throw an enchanted item and a single book in front of the laser the Atomic Reconstructor emits.[5]
  3. It separates a single enchantment from the item onto the book.[5]
Tip: If you want to automate disenchanting, the quest recommends the Industrial Foregoing Enchantment Extractor. The Lens separates a single enchantment at a time.[5]

Which All the Mons quests use Actually Additions?

2 parts

Actually Additions shows up in quests in the New Beginning, Basic Power and Tips and Poke Tricks chapters of this pack. The New Beginning and Basic Power quests are about early power, and the Tips and Poke Tricks quest is about disenchanting. In each one the mod's item is only one of several accepted options for the task, so you can finish the quest with Actually Additions or with another mod's item.[3][4][5]

Early power

In the New Beginning chapter, the untitled quest a quest in "New Beginning" comes after the Power quest. It explains that energy creation starts with something very simple, usually a generator that uses coal or lava to make FE. Its task accepts generators from several mods, including the Coal Generator, plus ones from Industrial Foregoing, Generator Galore, Mekanism Generators, Powah and RFTools Power.[4]

The Basic Power chapter then has "Coal Generators" quest, in the Fossil Fuels group, which comes after the Early Game Power Options quest. The quest calls these some of the easiest generators to make. It says they are very simple to use, create a decent amount of power based on the combustible material you put in, and automatically distribute power to adjacent blocks. The Coal Generator counts here too, alongside generators from Just Dire Things and RFTools Power.[3]

Disenchanting

In the Tips and Poke Tricks chapter, "Disenchanting Methods" quest covers many ways to extract enchantments from items onto books. The task accepts any one of a list of items, including an anvil, the Draconic Evolution disenchanter, the Industrial Foregoing Enchantment Extractor, the Apothic Enchanting tomes and the Lens of Disenchanting.[5]

For the Actually Additions method, the quest says the lens goes into an Atomic Reconstructor. You throw an enchanted item and a single book in front of the laser the Atomic Reconstructor emits, and it separates a single enchantment from the item onto the book.[5]

Tip: If you want to automate disenchanting, the quest recommends the Industrial Foregoing Enchantment Extractor instead. The lens only moves a single enchantment from the item onto the book.[5]

Which Actually Additions config options matter?

6 parts

Everything here lives in config/actuallyadditions-common.toml. Of the options in this pack's file that list a mod default, only one is marked as changed by the pack: the Fluid Laser Relay transfer rate.[10]

The one value the pack changed

machineSettings.fluidLaserTransferRate is set to 2,147,483,647 in this pack. The mod default is 10,000. The config describes this option as the amount of fluid the Fluid Laser Relay can transfer per tick.[10]

Machine settings at their defaults

In this pack's config file, these machine options are set to the same value as the mod default:[10]

machineSettings.laserRelayLoss is set to true in this pack's file. The config describes it as whether Energy Laser Relays have energy loss.[10]

Drill and Vertical Digger lists

itemsSettings.drillExtraWhitelist holds one entry in this pack's file, TConstruct:GravelOre. The config describes this list as extra blocks the Drill should be able to mine. The config also says the Vertical Digger mines everything in the forge:ores tags by default, and this pack's file leaves both machineSettings.verticalDiggerBlacklist and machineSettings.verticalDiggerExtraWhitelist empty.[10]

Gameplay toggles

Configurator items

In this pack's file, the item for configuring the farmer area is Compass (other.farmerConfigurator), and the same item is set for relay direction (other.relayConfigurator). The item for Redstone Mode is Redstone Torch (other.redstoneConfigurator).[10]

World generation

In this pack's file, the options for canola, coffee, flax, black quartz and rice world generation are all set to true: worldgenSettings.generateCanola, worldgenSettings.generateCoffee, worldgenSettings.generateFlax, worldgenSettings.generateQuartz and worldgenSettings.generateRice.[10]
