What is Actually Additions?
1 part
Actually Additions is a magitech mod full of gadgets. You use the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer to turn minerals into powerful crystals. Those crystals unlock machines for processing and sorting items, lasers that move energy, items and fluids wirelessly, renewable oil for power, and more. If you like building practical, mid-sized setups without a huge tech tree, this mod is for you.[1]
This pack ships Actually Additions 1.3.26. The mod also has its own in-game guide book, and its crystals chapter covers the Atomic Reconstructor's recipes.[2][3]
Where it fits in the pack
Your first contact is probably power. The Coal Generator is one of the options in the early power quests, alongside generators from other mods. The quest "Coal Generators" quest describes these generators as easy to make and simple to use. They produce a decent amount of power depending on the fuel you give them, and they automatically hand power to adjacent blocks.[4][5]
The Atomic Reconstructor has its own quest, a quest in "Creative", in the Creative chapter. It needs power, and the direction you place it in sets where it aims, like a dispenser. A Redstone Torch controls whether it works on a signal pulse or deactivates when it receives one.[6]
From there the quests follow a lens chain. You drop lens items in front of the Reconstructor and they transform step by step until you reach the Lens of Certain Death ("Lens of Certain Death" quest). The last step, "Lens of the Killer" quest, is crafted rather than dropped. It needs a Sharpness V Enchanted Book, which you can get from the Runic Enchanter.[6]
Unverified The sources do not show Actually Additions on the ATM Star quest path, so don't treat it as required for the Star.
How do you get started with Actually Additions?
5 parts
Actually Additions is a magitech mod built around crystals. The mod's own description says you use the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer to turn minerals into powerful crystals, and those crystals lead to useful machines. Here is the order I'd go in.[1]
Step one: make the manual
Start with the Actually Additions Manual (WIP). It's the mod's in-game guide, and opening it counts toward one of the mod's achievements. The recipe block below shows the exact in-pack version.[7][8]
The manual also has a video guide chapter that points to two intro videos. The shorter one is described as a bit outdated but still a great introduction. The other is a more recent spotlight playlist that is substantially longer and more detailed.[8][9]
Step two: build a Coal Generator
Next, get some power going. The pack's quest describes the Coal Generator as one of the easiest generators to make. It's simple to use, makes a decent amount of power based on the combustible material you put in, and automatically distributes power to adjacent blocks. The pack uses the mod's own recipe for it. The quests also accept generators from other mods, so this isn't your only option. See "Coal Generators" quest and a quest in "New Beginning".[4][5][7]

Step three: set up the Atomic Reconstructor
The Atomic Reconstructor is the heart of early progression. The pack quest calls it a simple recipe for a very useful machine. How you place it changes where it aims, like a dispenser. It needs power, and a redstone torch sets how it works. In deactivate mode a redstone signal switches it off, and in pulse mode a signal activates it. Check a quest in "Creative" for the full text.[6][7]

Making a crystal with it is also an achievement in the mod, so that's your first real milestone.[8]
Step four: crystals and coils
The mod has several crystal types: Restonia, Palis, Void, Enori, Diamatine and Emeradic. Each one has a matching shard that compresses into the full crystal. A Restonia Crystal, for example, comes from a Red Crystal Shard.[7]
Coils come next. The Basic Coil is a building block for early machines: the Auto-Breaker, the Coffee Maker and the Battery Box all use it.[7]

Later: lenses
Once the Reconstructor is running, the pack's quest line sends you down the lens chain. You drop a lens item in front of the machine and it transforms into the next lens when it fires. Keep going until you reach the Lens of Certain Death, then craft the Lens of the Killer (WIP). Follow "Lens of Certain Death" quest and "Lens of the Killer" quest. The quest text also mentions a Sharpness V enchanted book, but the in-pack recipe below shows only the lens and a diamond sword.[6][7]
How does Actually Additions work?
6 parts
Actually Additions is built around crystals. The mod's own description says you use the Atomic Reconstructor and the Empowerer to turn minerals into powerful crystals, and those crystals unlock machines for processing and sorting items. They also unlock lasers that move energy, items and fluids wirelessly, and renewable oil for power.[1]
Making crystals
The pack has recipes of the laser type that turn a diamond into a Diamatine Crystal, coal into a Void Crystal and Canola Seeds into Crystallized Canola Seeds. The mod's manual also has an achievement for making a crystal with the Atomic Reconstructor.[7][8]

Atomic Reconstructor settings
- In this pack's config, the reconstructor is set to store 300,000 power (machineSettings.reconstructorPower). That is the same as the mod default.[10]
- In this pack's config, the Mining Lens energy use is set to 60,000 (machineSettings.minerLensEnergy). Again this is the mod default.[10]
Power generation
The Coal Generator recipe is below. The pack's config also has settings for a Leaf-Eating Generator and an Oil Generator, listed after the recipe.[7][10]

- Leaf-Eating Generator: in this pack's config it harvests a 7x7x7 area (machineSettings.leafGeneratorArea), and the size must be an odd number. Production is set to 300 per leaf (machineSettings.leafGeneratorCPPerLeaf), with a cooldown of 5 ticks between generation cycles (machineSettings.leafGeneratorCooldown). All of these match the mod defaults.[10]
- Oil Generator: in this pack's config the power it can transfer per tick is set to 500 (machineSettings.oilGeneratorTransfer), which is the mod default.[10]
Coils and storing power
The Advanced Coil recipe was changed by this pack, so don't rely on what you remember from the base mod.[7]

Here is the in-pack recipe for the Battery Box.[7]
Laser relays
The mod has several relay blocks: Energy Laser Relay, Advanced Energy Laser Relay, Extreme Energy Laser Relay, Fluid Laser Relay, Item Laser Relay and Advanced Item Laser Relay.[8]
In this pack's config, machineSettings.laserRelayLoss is set to true, which means Energy Laser Relays are set to have energy loss.[10]
The item used to configure direction in laser relays is set by other.relayConfigurator, which is a compass in this pack's config.[10]
Other machine settings
- Farmer: in this pack's config its area is 9x9, the same as the mod default (machineSettings.farmerArea), and the size must be an odd number. The item used to configure the area (other.farmerConfigurator) is set to a compass.[10]
- Redstone mode: the item used to configure it is set by other.redstoneConfigurator, which is a redstone torch in this pack's config.[10]
- Vertical Digger: by default it mines everything in the forge ores tags. machineSettings.verticalDiggerBlacklist and machineSettings.verticalDiggerExtraWhitelist are both empty in this pack's config. The whitelist only applies in Ores Only Mode.[10]
- Drills: this pack's config adds one extra entry to itemsSettings.drillExtraWhitelist, "TConstruct:GravelOre".[10]
How do you progress through Actually Additions?
5 parts
Actually Additions doesn't have one strict ladder in this pack. The quests only touch a few parts of it: a first generator, and then an Atomic Reconstructor and lens chain. The rest of the progression can be read from what the in-pack recipes ask for, so that's how this section is laid out.[4][5][6][7]
First power
The New Beginning quest a quest in "New Beginning" asks for a simple generator that burns coal or lava to make FE, and the Coal Generator is one of the options it accepts. The Basic Power quest "Coal Generators" quest covers it again. It calls these some of the easiest generators to make, says they give a decent amount of power based on the fuel you feed them, and says they push power into adjacent blocks automatically. Generators from other mods also complete both quests, so you don't have to use this one.[4][5]

Coils
After the generator, many of the mod's machines are built around coils. The Basic Coil is the entry tier, and the Advanced Coil is built from a Basic Coil, so it is the next step up.[7]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version.
The recipes show where each machine sits. The Crusher, Auto-Breaker, Coffee Maker and Battery Box all use a Basic Coil. The Canola Press, Advanced Leaf Blower and Double Crusher use the Advanced Coil. The Double Crusher also builds on the regular Crusher, so it's a straight upgrade path.[7]
Crystals
Crystals show up all through the machine recipes. The Basic Coil uses Restonia Crystal, the Auto-Breaker and Coffee Maker use Void Crystal, the Canola Press uses Enori Crystal, and the Advanced Leaf Blower uses Diamatine Crystal. Each crystal type also has an empowered version. For example, the Bio Reactor needs an Empowered Enori Crystal, so it sits above the basic machines.[7]
The pack's recipes also let you convert between forms. Shards compress into crystals, crystals compress into blocks, and you can reverse both steps. The same block compression exists for the empowered crystals, so you can store them compactly.[7]

The Atomic Reconstructor and lenses
The Creative quest chapter starts with the Atomic Reconstructor a quest in "Creative". The quest calls it a very useful machine for such a simple recipe. It aims like a dispenser, because how you place it changes where it points. You give it power and then choose its behaviour with a Redstone Torch: set to deactivate, it shuts off when it gets a Redstone signal, and set to pulse, it activates whenever it gets one.[6]

The next quest, "Lens of Certain Death" quest, is about the Lens of Certain Death. You drop a lens item in front of the Reconstructor, and when it activates the lens transforms into the next one. The quest's example is that a lens becomes a Lens of Color, and a Lens of Color becomes a Lens of Detonation. You keep repeating this until you reach the Lens of Certain Death. The pack's laser recipe turns the Lens of Detonation into the Lens of Certain Death.[6][7]
Laser (actuallyadditions)

The last quest in the chain, "Lens of the Killer" quest, is the Lens of the Killer (WIP). The quest says this step is crafting rather than dropping, and the item is marked WIP in this pack. The quest text also mentions an Enchanted Book of Sharpness V from the Runic Enchanter, so compare it with the recipe shown below.[6][7]
The manual
If you want the mod's own in-game guide, the Actually Additions Manual (WIP) is craftable in this pack, and it's marked WIP.[7]
How does Actually Additions work with other mods?
4 parts
Actually Additions links up with other mods in this pack in a few places: Black Quartz recipes, the early generator quests, and the Atomic Reconstructor quest line.[4][5][6][7]
Black Quartz and Mystical Agriculture
The pack adds a crafting recipe that turns Black Quartz Essence into Black Quartz. So Mystical Agriculture essence is a way to get Black Quartz in this pack.[7]

Black Quartz and Productive Bees
The pack also changed a Productive Bees bee conversion recipe. It takes a Block of Black Quartz as its input and gives a Productive Bees black quartz item as its output.[7]

Early power with other generators
The Coal Generator is one of several interchangeable early-game generators in the quest book. In "Coal Generators" quest, the task accepts the Actually Additions Coal Generator, a Just Dire Things generator (generatort1) or the RFTools Power coal generator. Any one of them completes it.[4]
a quest in "New Beginning" works the same way. It accepts the Coal Generator along with generators from Industrial Foregoing, Generator Galore, Mekanism Generators, Powah and RFTools Power. The quest describes all of them as generators that burn something simple, like coal or lava, to make FE.[5]
The Atomic Reconstructor quest line
The Creative chapter starts with a quest in "Creative" for the Atomic Reconstructor. It leads to "Lens of Certain Death" quest for the Lens of Certain Death. You make that lens by dropping lenses in front of the Atomic Reconstructor one after another, as the quest explains.[6]
"Lens of the Killer" quest then asks you to craft the Lens of the Killer (WIP) from the Lens of Certain Death, a Diamond Sword and an Enchanted Book of Sharpness V. The quest says you can get the book from the Runic Enchanter.[6]
Which All the Mons quests use Actually Additions?
3 parts
Actually Additions shows up in three quest chapters in this pack: two about early power and one about the Atomic Reconstructor and its lenses. The sources only give the order of quests inside each chapter, so I can't tell you which chapter you'll reach first.[4][5][6]
New Beginning: your first generator
Quest a quest in "New Beginning" unlocks after the chapter's "Power" quest. It says energy creation starts with a simple generator that burns Coal or Lava to make FE. The quest accepts any one of several generators, and the Coal Generator is one of them. You don't have to pick it to complete the quest, as the other mods' starter generators count too.[5]
Basic Power: Coal Generators
Quest "Coal Generators" quest comes after "Early Game Power Options". Its task is again an either-or: the Coal Generator or a generator from one of two other mods. The quest describes these as some of the easiest generators to make. The power they produce depends on the combustible material you feed them, and they automatically distribute power to adjacent blocks.[4]
Creative: the Atomic Reconstructor and lenses
This chapter has a three-quest chain, and each quest asks you to obtain one item. The quest text frames it as part of automating the Star.[6]
- a quest in "Creative": obtain the Atomic Reconstructor. The text says how you place it changes where it aims, like a dispenser. It needs power, and a Redstone Torch sets its mode: on deactivate it stops when it receives a Redstone signal, and on pulse it activates whenever it receives one.[6]
- "Lens of Certain Death" quest: obtain the Lens of Certain Death. You drop a lens item in front of the Atomic Reconstructor and it transforms when the machine activates. A plain lens becomes a Lens of Color, and a Lens of Color becomes a Lens of Detonation. Keep repeating this until you reach the Lens of Certain Death.[6]
- "Lens of the Killer" quest: obtain the Lens of the Killer (WIP). There's no more dropping at this stage, because you craft it instead. The quest text also points you to another quest about the Runic Enchanter.[6]
Unverified The crafting recipe for the Lens of the Killer isn't available in the sources for this section, so check it in the recipe viewer in-game. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Which Actually Additions config options matter?
6 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide
Everything here lives in config/actuallyadditions-common.toml. Of the options in this pack's file that list a mod default, only one is marked as changed by the pack: the Fluid Laser Relay transfer rate.[11]
The one value the pack changed
machineSettings.fluidLaserTransferRate is set to 2,147,483,647 in this pack. The mod default is 10,000. The config describes this option as the amount of fluid the Fluid Laser Relay can transfer per tick.[11]
Machine settings at their defaults
In this pack's config file, these machine options are set to the same value as the mod default:[11]
- machineSettings.farmerArea is 9, which the config describes as a 9x9 farming area that must be an odd number.[11]
- machineSettings.leafGeneratorArea is 7, which the config describes as a 7x7x7 harvesting area that must be an odd number.[11]
- machineSettings.leafGeneratorCooldown is 5 ticks between generation cycles, and machineSettings.leafGeneratorCPPerLeaf is 300 CF per leaf.[11]
- machineSettings.oilGeneratorTransfer is 500, the amount of power the oil generator can transfer per tick according to the config.[11]
- machineSettings.reconstructorPower is 300,000, the power the Atomic Reconstructor can store according to the config. machineSettings.minerLensEnergy is 60,000, the energy use of its Mining Lens.[11]
machineSettings.laserRelayLoss is set to true in this pack's file. The config describes it as whether Energy Laser Relays have energy loss.[11]
Drill and Vertical Digger lists
itemsSettings.drillExtraWhitelist holds one entry in this pack's file, TConstruct:GravelOre. The config describes this list as extra blocks the Drill should be able to mine. The config also says the Vertical Digger mines everything in the forge:ores tags by default, and this pack's file leaves both machineSettings.verticalDiggerBlacklist and machineSettings.verticalDiggerExtraWhitelist empty.[11]
Gameplay toggles
- other.superDuperHardRecipes is false in this pack's file. The config calls it a joke feature that makes the mod completely unplayable.[11]
- other.tinyCoal is true. The config describes it as whether Tiny Coal and Tiny Charcoal are craftable.[11]
- other.waterBowl and other.waterBowlSpilling are both true. The config describes them as right-clicking a bowl on water to make a water bowl, and the water bowl spilling if you don't sneak while using it.[11]
- other.tillingWorms is true, which the config describes as worms dropping from tilling soil. other.wormDeathTime is 0, and the config says that at 0 ticks a worm will not die.[11]
- Bat wing drops (other.doBatDrops), cat drops (other.doCatDrops), dungeon loot (other.villageAndDungeonLoot) and the booklet on first craft (other.giveBookletOnFirstCraft) are all set to true in this pack's file.[11]
Configurator items
In this pack's file, the item for configuring the farmer area is Compass (other.farmerConfigurator), and the same item is set for relay direction (other.relayConfigurator). The item for Redstone Mode is Redstone Torch (other.redstoneConfigurator).[11]
World generation
In this pack's file, the options for canola, coffee, flax, black quartz and rice world generation are all set to true: worldgenSettings.generateCanola, worldgenSettings.generateCoffee, worldgenSettings.generateFlax, worldgenSettings.generateQuartz and worldgenSettings.generateRice.[11]
What changed in Actually Additions between versions?
3 parts
All the Mons 1.0.1 includes Actually Additions 1.3.26, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod was first in the pack by 0.3.0-beta or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs for the latest releases, newest first.[2]
1.3.26 (the version in this pack)
- There is now a warning when you try to open the booklet without Patchouli installed.[12]
- Infrared Engineer Goggles now make mobs glow, as they should.[12]
- The farmer no longer overrides custom soil with regular farmland.[12]
1.3.25
- Fixed a crash when you manually summon the snail.[13]
- Added a missing lang key for the snail.[13]
- The Vertical Digger's checkY setting is now set to the minimum build height on first load.[13]
1.3.24
- The coffee item is now marked as non-repairable.[14]
- The drill screen was reworked. You can no longer insert a higher tier upgrade without the lower tier installed, which is how it was intended to work.[14]
- You also can't remove a lower tier upgrade while a higher tier is still installed.[14]
- Duplicate upgrades can no longer be installed in the drill.[14]
