What is Draconic Additions?

Draconic Additions is part of this pack's mod list. The pack ships version 2.4.1.5, in the file Draconic-Additions-1.20.1-2.4.1.5-universal.jar, so it is built for Minecraft 1.20.1.[1]

It has been in the pack for a while: it was first included in pack version 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[1]

I don't have a description of what the mod adds from the sources for this pack, so I'm not going to guess at its items or mechanics here. Check the other sections of this guide for anything that can be confirmed in this pack.[1]

How do you get started with Draconic Additions?

5 parts

Draconic Additions leans on Draconic Evolution, so a lot of its recipes reach into that mod. The order below is my suggested path, not a fixed one. Every recipe block shows the exact in-pack recipe.[2]

First: Inert potato armor

Start with the Inert Potato Helmet, Inert Potato Chestplate, Inert Potato Leggings and Inert Potato Boots. These are the mod's own recipes, and the pack leaves them unchanged. They are also the base for the next step.[2]

Second: Infuse the armor

Each inert piece upgrades into its infused version: Infused Potato Helmet, Infused Potato Chestplate, Infused Potato Leggings and Infused Potato Boots. The upgrade uses Draconic Evolution materials, so have some progress there first.[2]

Watch out: Infused armor runs on an energy reserve. When the last of it gives out, the piece breaks apart, so keep an eye on it.[3]

Next: Hermal

Then craft hermal. The in-game text calls it ultimate power in something so seemingly mundane. If you try to eat it, the game warns that this seems like a bad idea. Its recipe uses a Draconic Evolution item, so it fits after you have made some progress there.[2][3]

Then: Modules and necklaces

The Chaotic Auto Feed Module is built from the Draconic Auto Feed Module from Draconic Evolution, so you need that module first.[2]

The pack also adds crafting recipes for the Wyvern Necklace, Draconic Necklace and Chaotic Necklace. Each one is a shapeless craft that turns a single KubeJS item into the necklace.[2]

Last: The Chaos Heart

Save the Chaos Heart for last. The pack added its recipe, and it is crafted on an Extended Crafting table using items from several mods. The Chaos Extractor accepts Chaos Hearts, so this is the item that leads into the mod's chaos machines.[2][3]

How does Draconic Additions work?

7 parts

Draconic Additions is built around Chaos. The mod's own text talks about storing it, transferring it, injecting and venting it, and the danger of things exploding. Here is what that text confirms about how the pieces fit together.[3]

The Chaos machines

The mod's text names these machine blocks: the Chaos Crystalizer, Chaos Extractor, Chaos Infuser and Chaos Liquifier. Each one has a Chaos slot with hover text describing what it takes.[3]

  • Chaos Liquifier: the slot tooltip says it accepts Chaos Shards.[3]
  • Chaos Crystalizer: the slot tooltip says Chaos Shards will crystalize there when enough LC is present.[3]
  • Chaos Extractor: the slot tooltip says it accepts Chaos Hearts and any modular item with a Chaos Stabilizer Module.[3]
  • Chaos Infuser: the slot tooltip says it accepts Dragon Hearts and any modular item with a Chaos Stabilizer Module.[3]

Storing and moving Chaos

The mod's messages show Chaos amounts in mB. One reads "Stored Chaos" with a current and a maximum amount in mB, and the transfer messages report how many mB were moved to or from a source. Another message shows a Current Instability percentage.[3]

The item list includes Stable, Semi-Stable and Unstable Chaos Holder items, plus a Chaos Container. A message says the Chaos Container requires shield boosting modules to operate, and its tooltip says it accepts shield modules.[3]

The Chaos Injector has its own set of warning messages about injecting and venting Chaos. They spell out these requirements:[3]

  • One warning says you cannot inject or vent chaos without Chaos Holder Modules.[3]
  • Another says injection failed because no chaos was found in the Chaos Holder Modules.[3]
  • Another says it cannot vent chaos because the Chaos Holder Modules are full.[3]
  • You need a working shield. The injector warns when no shield is detected, when the shield is disabled, when it is getting low, and when its capacity might not be high enough to survive injection.[3]
Watch out: Chaos is dangerous. An item can warn that it is on the verge of exploding, and it can then stop you dropping or moving it. If it goes off, it explodes in your hand. There is even a dedicated death message for chaos injection gone wrong, so take the shield warnings seriously.[3]

Harnesses

The mod has a Chaotic Harness, a Draconic Harness and a Wyvern Harness. The messages show that you can place an item into your harness and take it off again to set it back down. Some blocks refuse to budge when you try this.[3]

Crafting the Chaos Heart

In this pack the Chaos Heart is crafted on an Extended Crafting table. The recipe is added by the pack and uses a large grid of Draconic Evolution cores and fragments, plus items from Blood Magic, ArmorPlus and Born in Chaos.[2][4]

Other crafted items

The Chaotic Auto Feed Module is a module crafted from a Draconic Auto Feed Module with a few extras. It is the mod's own recipe, not a pack change.[2]

The necklaces, Wyvern Necklace, Draconic Necklace and Chaotic Necklace, have recipes added by pack scripts. Here they are.[2]

Potato armor

The inert potato set has a helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots, made from potatoes. You upgrade each piece into its infused version by adding draconium ingots and blocks of redstone. Here is the boots recipe as an example.[2]

The infused armor has its own break message, which says the piece breaks apart as the last of the energy reserves give out.[3]

The inert pieces also show up as ingredients in the pack's Extended Crafting recipes for the Infinity helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots, and in its recipe for the Draconic Evolution creative capacitor. So keep them in mind for endgame crafting.[5][6][7][8][9]

hermal

hermal comes with its own messages. The crafting message reads "Ultimate power in something so seemingly mundane." The message for trying to eat it reads "This seems like a bad idea...", and the success message reads "No one contests the power of hermal." Its recipe is the mod's own.[2][3]

How do you progress through Draconic Additions?

6 parts

Draconic Additions doesn't have a single upgrade chain in this pack. Its items fall into groups, and the in-pack recipes show how each one is made. Here they are, roughly from the simplest to the most demanding.[2]

Inert potato armor

This is the entry point. The full Inert Potato set (Inert Potato Helmet, Inert Potato Chestplate, Inert Potato Leggings and Inert Potato Boots) is made in an ordinary crafting grid from potatoes. These are the mod's own recipes, not pack changes.[2]

The next step is the Infused set. Each infused piece is crafted from the matching inert piece, so make the inert armor first. These are also the mod's own recipes.[2]

Necklaces

Chaos Heart

The Chaos Heart is the big one. The pack gives it an Extended Crafting shaped table recipe, and it draws on items from Draconic Evolution and several other mods, so expect a serious endgame-style crafting job.[2][4]

Added by the pack as an Extended Crafting shaped table recipe.

Modules and the hermal

The Chaotic Auto Feed Module is a module crafted from a Draconic Evolution auto feed module, and the hermal uses a chaos fragment. Both are the mod's own recipes.[2]

Endgame uses

The pack also uses the inert potato armor as an ingredient in its endgame recipes. The inert helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots all go into the pack's recipe for the Creative Power Source, and the inert boots also appear in the pack's recipe for Infinity Boots. So the potato armor is more than a novelty: the pack's endgame crafting calls for it.[5][6]

How does Draconic Additions work with other mods?

4 parts

Draconic Additions links up with other mods in this pack mostly through endgame crafting. Its items show up in Extended Crafting table recipes, in the Infinity armor, and in a handful of pack-made conversions. Here is where each connection happens.[2]

Chaos Heart

The Chaos Heart is crafted in an Extended Crafting table, and the recipe is added by the pack. It draws on several mods: the Draconic Evolution cores and chaos fragments, plus items from Blood Magic, Born in Chaos and Armor Plus.[2][4]

This table recipe is added by the pack.

Once you have it, the Chaos Heart feeds other pack-added recipes: Neutronium Seeds, Ultimate Seeds and the Ultimate Heart. The Ultimate Heart is a shapeless table recipe that gathers hearts from many mods.[2][10]

Inert Potato armor

The Inert Potato armor set (Inert Potato Helmet, Inert Potato Chestplate, Inert Potato Leggings and Inert Potato Boots) is part of the Infinity armor recipes. The pack changed all four of those recipes. Each one needs the matching Inert Potato piece, and the Infinity Boots ask for 2 of the Inert Potato Boots.[2]

The same four pieces are also needed for the Creative Power Source (Creative Power Source), whose recipe is added by the pack. That is a big Draconic Evolution crafting job, and it also takes the Infinity Ingot, Infinity 12 and the chaotic tools and necklace.[2][5]

Recipe id: draconicevolution:creative_op_capacitor

A pack-added table recipe that uses all four Inert Potato pieces.

Necklace conversions

The pack adds shapeless recipes that swap each Draconic Additions necklace for a KubeJS twin, and swap it back again. This matters because the Creative Power Source recipe asks for the KubeJS Chaotic Necklace.[2][5]

Recipes from the mod itself

Some crafts come from the mod's own recipes rather than the pack. Both lean on Draconic Evolution items, and one of them also uses a vanilla item.[2]

This is the mod's own recipe, not one added by the pack.

Also the mod's own recipe, and it builds on the Draconic Auto Feed Module.
