What is KubeJS?

1 part

The pack includes KubeJS 2001.6.5-build.26, and it has been part of the pack since version 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[1]

Where the quest book uses it

The quest book asks for items from the kubejs namespace in two chapters. The first is "Shop", chapter 2 of 44 in the book, with 29 quests. Most of its quests ask for coins: Infused Coin, Apotheotic Coin and Ascended Coin. For example, "Creative Flight" quest asks for 32 Ascended Coins plus a jetpack.[2]

The second is "EndGame", in the "Storyline" group, chapter 7 of 44, with 70 quests. This is where the Infinity items live, and they form a long chain you follow step by step.[3]

  1. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 1. No earlier quest is listed for it in the sources.[3]
  2. Three quests branch off it: a quest in "EndGame", a quest in "EndGame" and a quest in "EndGame". a quest in "EndGame" also comes after Infinity 1.[3]
  3. a quest in "EndGame" (Infinity 2) comes after all four of those.[3]
  4. From there the numbered quests continue one after another up to a quest in "EndGame" (Infinity 12). Each one comes after the previous Infinity quest plus one other quest. a quest in "EndGame" (Infinity 3), for instance, also needs a quest in "EndGame", and Infinity 12 also needs a quest in "EndGame".[3]

Two more kubejs items sit later in the chapter. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Creative Capacitor, and a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity Essence. Both come after "The Beginning of the End" quest, which itself follows "One Giant Leap" quest, which follows "One Small Step" quest.[3]

How do you get started with KubeJS?

3 parts

In this pack, KubeJS is where a lot of the custom items and recipes live: coins, dusts, ingots and a numbered run of Infinity items. You don't craft KubeJS itself. You craft what it adds, and the quest book tells you when. Here is the order the quest book lays out, starting with the earliest steps.[4][5]

Step 1: the Starmetal chain

The Starmetal line in the quest book's AllTheModium chapter (Production group) is built from KubeJS items such as Azure Silver Dust, Azure Electrum Dust, Blaze Gold Dust and Starmetal Dust. Four quests there have no prerequisite: a quest in "AllTheModium" (it asks for 2), a quest in "AllTheModium", a quest in "AllTheModium" and a quest in "AllTheModium". After them comes a quest in "AllTheModium", then a quest in "AllTheModium" (it asks for 3 Starmetal Ingot), which is one of the quests listed before a quest in "AllTheModium".[5][6]

Azure Silver comes from a sieve. Here is the pack's recipe for Azure Silver Ore Chunk:[4]

For Azure Electrum Dust, the pack added a crushing recipe in several machines. Mekanism, Actually Additions and EnderIO each have one, so use whichever you already have. Here is the Mekanism one:[4]

Step 2: the Infinity items

The quest book's EndGame chapter (Storyline group) has a numbered run of KubeJS items from Infinity 1 up to Infinity 12. a quest in "EndGame" starts it. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 1.333333, Infinity 1.666666, Infinity 1.999999, Infinity 1 and the Thermal Bottler quest. a quest in "EndGame" follows Infinity 2 and the Elven Gateway Core quest. a quest in "EndGame" follows Infinity 3 and a quest in "EndGame".[3][5]

Infinity 4 is made in a Blood Altar from Infinity 3:[3][4]

Step 3: coins for the Shop

The Shop chapter (chapter 2 of 44) mostly asks for Infused Coin, Apotheotic Coin and Ascended Coin. For example, "Regeneration" quest asks for 16 Ascended Coins. The pack added recipes that turn Infused Coins into the other two:[2][4]

How does KubeJS work?

6 parts

In this pack, KubeJS shows up as scripts that add recipes and change loot, plus items and blocks under the kubejs namespace. The sources here cover only some of the pack's scripts, so this section is a tour of how the scripting behaves, not a complete list.[4][5][7][8]

Shared recipe helpers

The pack keeps a helper script, functions.js, which runs at priority 9,999,999. It defines small wrappers for common recipe shapes: shapeless recipes, 2x2 and 3x3 shaped grids, 3x3 grids filled with one item, and conduit-style rows. Other scripts call these wrappers instead of writing each recipe out in full.[7]

The 3x3 helper has a safety check. If the output is empty, or the output string contains a space, it prints an error to the log. There are also helpers that convert between Draconic Evolution items and their KubeJS counterparts, and helpers for Mystical Agriculture seed tier crafting.[7]

You can see the helpers at work in the Advanced AE script. It uses the 2x2 and 3x3 helpers for the pattern provider upgrades and the regeneration card. The reaction chamber is added with a custom Extended Crafting shaped table recipe instead.[9]

Recipes and crafting stations

Pack scripts reach well beyond the vanilla crafting grid. The recipe dump lists pack-added recipes for KubeJS items in crafting, smelting, the Extended Crafting tables, Blood Magic's altar and Industrial Foregoing's dissolution chamber. The counts below come from that dump.[4]

  • 44 shapeless crafting recipes take KubeJS items and make KubeJS items.[4]
  • 35 shaped crafting recipes take KubeJS items and make KubeJS items.[4]
  • 28 shapeless recipes turn Draconic Evolution items into KubeJS items.[4]
  • 17 Draconic Evolution fusion crafting recipes make KubeJS items.[4]
  • 13 smelting recipes take KubeJS items and make KubeJS items.[4]

Another 242 recipes in the dump are not shown here. The wyvern axe and chaotic axe fusion recipes are marked as changed by the pack, and they give you the KubeJS versions, Wyvern Axe and Chaotic Axe.[4]

Metal and dust processing

The custom metals follow a simple chain. Raw Arcmetal is smelted into Arcmetal Ingot, and the Arcmetal Block has its own crafting recipe from the ingot.[4]

Azure Electrum Dust shows how many ways one item can be processed. The pack adds three routes to it from Azure Electrum Ingot: Actually Additions crushing, Mekanism crushing and EnderIO SAG milling.[4][10]

Allthemodium and wireless terminal scripts

The Allthemodium script adds smithing recipes for Allthemodium Mesh and Vibranium Mesh. It also adds the teleport pad, gears for each tier, alloy ingot and alloy tool combinations, and the alloy paxel.[11]

Another script builds an uncrafter item for the wireless universal terminal. The result carries over the terminal's saved data, with the current terminal and internal max power entries deleted from it.[12]

The Infinity item chain

The numbered Infinity items are progression steps that pack scripts feed through different mods. A Botania elven trade turns three Infinity 2 into Infinity 3. A Blood Magic altar recipe then turns Infinity 3 into Infinity 4.[4][13]

Altar (bloodmagic)

Recipe id: bloodmagic:kjs/4o1movumtmhspxbv72pduyzz9

Loot changes

Loot is changed through LootJS in a pack script. Monsters killed by a player can drop three coins, each with its own random chance: Apotheotic Coin at 0.0025, Infused Coin at 0.00025 and Ascended Coin at 0.000001.[8]

  • The Wither's normal Insanium Essence drop is removed and re-added with a random chance of 0.02.[8]
  • Blazes, creepers and wardens each get a 0.5 chance to drop Blaze Heart, Creeper Heart and Warden Heart respectively.[8]
  • Ancient city chests get a 0.025 chance to hold the Allthemodium upgrade smithing template.[8]

The custom ores have rewritten drops too. The ore's normal loot is removed and replaced with a three-way choice. With Fortune you get the raw item with the ore bonus applied, with Silk Touch you get the ore block, and otherwise you get the raw item. This is set up for arcmetal, plasteel, solarmetal and voidmetal.[8]

Tip: Azure silver ore works the same way but drops azure silver ingots instead of a raw item. A comment in the script says it currently lacks a raw ore.[8]

Unverified Many other pack scripts under kubejs/server_scripts, such as kubejs_materials.js and misc.js, are too long to include here, and the sources here do not show what they contain. The pack has no config files for KubeJS.

How do you progress through KubeJS?

6 parts

In this pack the KubeJS items form a few clear ladders. The biggest is a run of numbered Infinity items that the quest book's EndGame chapter (Storyline group) asks you to collect in order. The pack also has metal, mesh, coin, Draconic tool and Mekanism chains, so let's go through them.[3]

The Infinity ladder

The chapter's first Infinity quest, a quest in "EndGame", asks for Infinity 1. Three side quests ask for Infinity 1.333333, Infinity 1.666666 and Infinity 1.999999. A machine quest, a quest in "EndGame", also follows Infinity 1. After that, each later Infinity quest comes after the previous Infinity quest plus a quest for a machine or block from a different mod.[3]

  1. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 2 and comes after Infinity 1, all three side steps and the bottler quest.[3]
  2. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 3 and comes after Infinity 2 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
  3. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 4 and comes after Infinity 3 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
  4. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 5 and comes after Infinity 4 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
  5. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 6 and comes after Infinity 5 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
  6. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 7 and comes after Infinity 6 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
  7. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 8 and comes after Infinity 7 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
  8. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 9 and comes after Infinity 8 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
  9. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 10 and comes after Infinity 9 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
  10. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 11 and comes after Infinity 10 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
  11. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 12 and comes after Infinity 11 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]

The pack adds several of these crafts itself. Infinity 1.333333 is a fluid infuser recipe, and Infinity 1.999999 is a bottler recipe. The bottler uses Molten Blitz, while Molten Basalz comes from a Basalz Rod in a crucible.[4]

The Crazy AE2 Addon chapter (Production group) has a quest, "Infinity 9 Block" quest, that asks for Infinity 9 Block. A second Infinity 9 quest comes after it.[15]

Unverified The recipes for Infinity 1, Infinity 1.666666, Infinity 2, Infinity 3 and Infinity 6 to 12 are not confirmed here, so look them up in game.

The finish line

Past Infinity 12 the chapter's quests continue with "One Small Step" quest and "One Giant Leap" quest, leading to "The Beginning of the End" quest. A big batch of creative-tier quests comes after that one, including a quest in "EndGame", which asks for Infinity Essence, and a quest in "EndGame", which asks for Creative Capacitor. The last quest, a quest in "EndGame", comes after Infinity 12 and most of those creative quests.[3]

The pack gives Infinity Essence two routes: a crafting recipe and a Void Miner recipe. It also adds a recipe that converts the Draconic Evolution capacitor into the KubeJS one.[4]

In The Beginning chapter (Storyline group, chapter 4 of 44) the sieve meshes run in a line: "Flint Mesh" quest, "Iron Mesh" quest, "Gold Mesh" quest, "Diamond Mesh" quest and a quest in "The Beginning". Then come the two KubeJS meshes, a quest in "The Beginning" and a quest in "The Beginning". The pack also adds a smithing recipe for Netherite Diamond Hammer.[4][16]

    Metals and the Starmetal route

The AllTheModium chapter (Production group) leads toward Unobtainium. The a quest in "AllTheModium" quest comes after the Blaze Gold Dust, Azure Electrum Dust, Azure Silver Dust and Nether Star Shard quests. The next quest, a quest in "AllTheModium", asks for 3 Starmetal Ingots. The Unobtainium Ingot quest lists the Starmetal Ingot quest among its prerequisites, next to Vibranium Ingot and several others.[6]

The pack adds recipes for several inputs on that route. Azure Silver Ore Chunk comes from a sieve, Blaze Gold Ingot and Azure Electrum Ingot are crafted, and Azure Electrum Ingot has three crushing recipes that give Azure Electrum Dust. Azure Silver Ingot and Blaze Gold Ingot can also be crushed into dust.[4][10]

How does KubeJS work with other mods?

    4 parts

In this pack KubeJS is the glue between mods. It adds its own items in the kubejs namespace, and the pack's scripts then use those items in recipes with many other mods. Here is where the crossovers show up.[4][7]

    Infinity items as a bridge

The numbered Infinity items show up in other mods' recipes. The pack changed the Blazejet Wand recipe, added an Eclipse Alloy Bow recipe, changed the smithing recipe for the Ender Dragon Boots, and added a Gem Boots recipe. All of them use one of the Infinity items.[4]

Added by the pack. It uses Infinity 4 in an Extended Crafting table.

The EndGame chapter (Storyline group) of the quest book lays the Infinity items out as a quest chain, from a quest in "EndGame" up to a quest in "EndGame". Each Infinity quest comes after the previous Infinity quest plus a quest that asks for an item from another mod. For example, a quest in "EndGame" comes after a quest in "EndGame" and a quest in "EndGame", which asks for the Blood Magic altar.[3]

The step to Infinity 3 also has a Botania link: the pack adds an elven trade that turns three Infinity 2 into one Infinity 3. More EndGame quests are not listed here, so check the quest book for them.[3][13]

    Mystical Agriculture seeds

The pack adds Crafting Seeds, from Tier 1 Crafting Seed up to Tier 5 Crafting Seed, and builds seed recipes from other mods around them. The Tier 2 seed is made from the Tier 1 seed plus Mystical Agriculture materials:[4]

Beyond that, the pack adds ten Extended Crafting combination recipes, six Botania runic altar recipes and several Extended Crafting table recipes (such as the diamond, iridium and uraninite seeds) that make Mystical Agriculture seeds. They build on kubejs items like Starmetal Dust and the Tier 3, Tier 4 and Tier 5 Crafting Seeds, together with materials from other mods.[4]

    Other crossovers

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use KubeJS?

    8 parts

The custom KubeJS items turn up in eight quest chapters of the pack. Here they are in book order.[2][3][6][14][15][16][17][18]

    Shop (chapter 2)

This chapter has 29 quests, and most of them ask you to hand in coins: Infused Coin, Apotheotic Coin or Ascended Coin. For example, "Regeneration" quest asks for 16 Ascended Coins, "Slow Falling" quest asks for 16 Apotheotic Coins and "Saturation" quest asks for 64 Infused Coins. "Absorption" quest asks for just 8 Ascended Coins.[2]

"Inscriber Presses" quest mixes coins with other items: 16 Apotheotic Coins, a meteorite compass and 16 sky steel ingots. "Creative Flight" quest asks for 32 Ascended Coins plus a jetpack, and the book describes it as allowing you to fly and needing a lot of levels.[2]

    The Beginning (chapter 4, Storyline)

The sieve line has two KubeJS mesh quests. The mesh chain goes a quest in "The Beginning", then a quest in "The Beginning" (asks for Allthemodium Mesh), then a quest in "The Beginning" (asks for Vibranium Mesh).[16]

"Auto Sieve" quest comes after a quest in "The Beginning". It is a big shopping list that includes nine Auto Mechanical Sieve.[16]

    EndGame (chapter 7, Storyline)

This 70-quest chapter holds the Infinity chain. Each numbered quest asks for the matching KubeJS item, and the quests unlock in this order:[3]

    1. a quest in "EndGame" asks for Infinity 1. Three quests come after it: a quest in "EndGame", a quest in "EndGame" and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
    2. a quest in "EndGame" comes after those three, Infinity 1 and a quest in "EndGame".[3]
    3. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 2 and the Elven Gateway Core quest.[3]
    4. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 3 and the Blood Altar quest. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 4 and the Pressure Chamber Wall quest. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 5 and the Slice'N'Splice quest. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 6 and the Assembly Controller quest.[3]
    5. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 7 and the Fusion Crafting Core quest. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 8 and the Infinity Block quest. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 9 and the Energizing Orb quest. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 10 and the Oak Sieve quest. a quest in "EndGame" comes after Infinity 11 and the Ultimate Crafting Table quest.[3]

Separately, "One Small Step" quest asks for the Ultimate Ingot. "One Giant Leap" quest and "The Beginning of the End" quest follow it. Quests that come after that last one include a quest in "EndGame" (Infinity Essence) and a quest in "EndGame" (Creative Capacitor). The final quest, a quest in "EndGame", lists Infinity 12 among a long list of prerequisites.[3]

    Masterful Machinery (chapter 25, Production)

The other quests in this 18-quest chapter come after a quest in "Masterful Machinery". One of them asks for a controller together with Empowered Super Block.[18]

Crazy AE2 Addon (chapter 30, Production)

This chapter has 39 quests. Two of them use KubeJS items. The Infinity 9 Block quest asks for Infinity 9 Block, and the Infinity 9 quest after it asks for Infinity 9.[15]
