Compressium is a mod in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2, where it is version 3.0.2-build.12+mc1.20. Adds Compressed Blocks (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Compressium?

1 part

Compressium is a small mod in the pack, and the one item the sources show for it is Compressed Cobblestone (8x). The pack ships Compressium 3.0.2-build.12+mc1.20, and it has been in the pack since version 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[1][2]

I don't have a guidebook or any other description of the mod, so I can't tell you more about how it works. What I can show you is where the quest book puts it.[1]

Where the quest book places it

Compressium shows up in the "ProjectE Philo Stone" chapter. That chapter sits in the "Production" group and is chapter 33 of 44 in the book. It has 113 quests, and 4 of them aren't shown in my sources, so check the quest book for their text.[2]

Most quests in this chapter ask you to hand in a single item, and they mix items from many different mods. Compressium's part is the a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" quest, which asks for 2 of Compressed Cobblestone (8x). The chapter also has a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" and a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", each asking for one of the same item. The book lists both as coming after a Compressed Cobblestone (8x) quest.[2]

The chapter doesn't spell out a single quest order that I can pass on, so I won't guess which quest comes right before or after the Compressium ones.[2]

How do you get started with Compressium?

5 parts

Compressium turns common blocks into stacked, compressed versions, and in this pack the first thing you will want from it is Compressed Cobblestone. The pack's quest book asks you for it, so here is the order I'd go in.[2][3]

Step 1: make your first compressed cobblestone

Start with Compressed Cobblestone (1x). It is the 1x tier, made straight from plain cobblestone, so it is where the tier chain begins.[4]

Crafting Shaped

9 × Cobblestone

Recipe id: compressium:cobblestone_1

Step 2: climb the tiers to 8x

Every tier after the first is crafted from the tier below it. The recipe dump shows 200 shaped recipes of this kind, each making one compressed block from another one of this mod's blocks. For example, Compressed Cobblestone (8x) is made from the 7x block.[4]

Crafting Shaped

9 × Compressed Cobblestone (7x)

Recipe id: compressium:cobblestone_8

The 8x block is the one the quest book asks for. The quest a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", in the "ProjectE Philo Stone" chapter (Production group), asks you to hand in 2 of them. The Philosopher's Stone quest, a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", comes after it in that chapter.[2][4]

Step 3: learn to go back down

Compressing is not a one-way trip. Each tier has a shapeless uncrafting recipe that breaks it back down. A single Compressed Cobblestone (9x) turns into 9 of the 8x blocks.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: compressium:cobblestone_9_uncraft

Step 4: other first-tier recipes

Most first-tier blocks, such as Compressed Dirt (1x), Compressed Gravel (1x), Compressed Netherrack (1x) and Compressed Block of Obsidian (1x), each have their own first-tier recipe in this pack. Here is the one for dirt:[4]

Crafting Shaped

9 × Dirt

Recipe id: compressium:dirt_1

The first-tier recipe for compressed dirt.

Watch out: The pack changed the first-tier recipes for coal, copper, diamond, emerald, gold, iron, lapis and netherite. They take a storage block from the matching tag instead of the plain item, so check the recipe viewer before you stockpile ingredients. For example, Compressed Iron (1x) uses a storage block of iron.[4]

Crafting Shaped

9 × any iron storage block

Recipe id: compressium:iron_1

Extras the pack adds

The pack also adds some processing recipes for compressed blocks. These are not part of the early quest, so come back to them when you are set up:[4]

Hammer (exdeorum)

Recipe id: exdeorum:hammer/compressed_sand

Another hammer recipe the pack adds, making Compressed Sand (1x).

How does Compressium work?

6 parts

What the sources show for Compressium is a set of blocks that come in tiers, from 1x up to 9x, for materials like andesite, cobblestone, coal, copper, diamond and obsidian. The mechanics are about how you move up and down those tiers, and which other mods' machines the pack hooks them into.[3]

Compressing and uncompressing

The first tier of a material is crafted from the plain block, for example Compressed Block of Andesite (1x) and Compressed Cobblestone (1x). Each higher tier is then crafted from the tier below it. The recipe dump counts 200 shaped crafting recipes that turn Compressium blocks into higher Compressium blocks.[4]

Crafting Shaped

9 × Andesite

Recipe id: compressium:andesite_1

The 1x tier is made from the plain block.

Crafting Shaped

9 × Compressed Block of Andesite (1x)

Recipe id: compressium:andesite_2

Each higher tier is made from the tier below.

Going back down is a shapeless recipe: one block of a tier turns into 9 blocks of the tier below it. The dump counts 200 of these shapeless recipes.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: compressium:andesite_2_uncraft

One 2x block turns back into 9 blocks of the 1x tier.

Where the pack changes the first tier

For coal, copper and diamond, the pack changed the recipe for the 1x block. Compressed Block of Coal (1x), Compressed Copper (1x) and Compressed Diamond (1x) are crafted from any block in the matching storage block tag, not from one fixed item. Compressed Clay (1x) keeps its normal crafting recipe, and the pack adds a second way to get it (see the barrel section below).[4]

Compressed Diamond (1x)Changed by the pack

Crafting Shaped

9 × any diamond storage block

Recipe id: compressium:diamond_1

In this pack it accepts any block from the diamond storage block tag.

Processing compressed blocks in machines

The pack hooks Compressium into several other mods. These recipes let you break compressed stone down into compressed cobblestone, gravel and sand without crafting by hand.[4][5]

Hammering and the barrel

The pack adds Ex Deorum hammer recipes for compressed blocks. One produces Compressed Gravel (1x), and another turns that gravel into Compressed Sand (1x).[4]

Hammer (exdeorum)

Recipe id: exdeorum:hammer/compressed_sand

The pack also adds an Ex Deorum barrel recipe for Compressed Clay (1x). It mixes Compressed Dust with water, using a fluid amount of 1,000.[4][6]

Blood altar conversions

The pack adds two Blood Magic altar recipes for compressed stone. Compressed Stone (1x) becomes Compressed Slate with a syphon of 9,000 and a consumption and drain rate of 90 each, at altar upgrade level 1. Compressed Stone (2x) becomes Double Compressed Slate with a syphon of 81,000 and a consumption and drain rate of 81,000 each, at upgrade level 4.[7]

Compressed blocks as crafting ingredients

Compressium blocks also show up as ingredients in other recipes the pack scripts. Here are the ones the sources show:[8][9][10][11][12]

How do you progress through Compressium?

5 parts

Compressium is a tier ladder. Each block type starts at 1x and climbs by crafting the previous tier into the next one. In this pack's recipe dump the Compressed Block of Andesite and Compressed Clay chains run from 1x to 9x, and Compressed Block of Coal runs from 1x to 5x. Compressed Cobblestone shows up as high as 9x. The dump counts 200 shaped recipes that compress and 200 shapeless recipes that uncompress, all between Compressium items.[4]

How the tiers work

Going up a tier is a shaped crafting recipe that uses the tier below. Here is the step from 1x to 2x for andesite, and the other chains in the dump follow the same one-tier-at-a-time pattern:[4]

Crafting Shaped

9 × Compressed Block of Andesite (1x)

Recipe id: compressium:andesite_2

Each tier step in the chain takes the tier below as its ingredient.

Going back down is a shapeless recipe, and it gives you nine blocks of the tier below.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: compressium:andesite_2_uncraft

Tip: Each uncraft recipe written out in the dump returns 9 of the tier below, so you can break a high tier block back down when you need the lower tiers.[4]

Tier 1 recipes the pack changed

The 1x recipes for Compressed Block of Coal (1x), Compressed Copper (1x), Compressed Iron (1x), Compressed Gold (1x), Compressed Diamond (1x), Compressed Emerald (1x), Compressed Block of Lapis (1x) and Compressed Netherite (1x) are marked as changed by the pack. The dump does not show what the mod's own default looked like, so go by the pack recipe below.[4]

Crafting Shaped

9 × any coal storage block

Recipe id: compressium:coal_1

Changed by the pack: it accepts any coal storage block.

Other 1x blocks such as Compressed Block of Andesite (1x) and Compressed Cobblestone (1x) use plain mod recipes made from a single vanilla block.[4]

Crafting Shaped

9 × Cobblestone

Recipe id: compressium:cobblestone_1

Routes the pack added

The pack adds extra ways to move between compressed materials, so you are not stuck with crafting alone:[4]

Where the quest book uses it

Compressium shows up in the "ProjectE Philo Stone" chapter of the quest book, in the "Production" group. Three quests there ask you to hand in Compressed Cobblestone (8x): a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" asks for 2, while a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" and a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" each ask for 1.[2][4]

These feed into the Philosopher's Stone quest, a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", which comes after many quests in the chapter, including the Compressed Cobblestone quests. For the crafting step that makes that block, the pack's recipe is below.[2][4]

9 × Compressed Cobblestone (7x)

Uses in other pack recipes

How does Compressium work with other mods?

6 parts

Compressium blocks rarely stand alone in this pack. Most of their connections to other mods are recipes where a compressed block is an input, and the recipes below are marked as added or changed by the pack. Here is where they show up.[4]

Armor Plus obsidian gear

The pack changed the recipes for the whole Enriched Obsidian set: Enriched Obsidian Helmet, Enriched Obsidian Chestplate, Enriched Obsidian Leggings, Enriched Obsidian Boots, Enriched Obsidian Sword, Enriched Obsidian Pickaxe, Enriched Obsidian Battle Axe, Enriched Obsidian Bow and Enriched Obsidian Mace. Compressed Block of Obsidian (1x) is the Compressium link in every one of them. The bow and the mace each have a second recipe variant too. Two examples are shown below.[4]

Machines and processing

Several machine recipes in the pack take a compressed block and turn it into something new. These are all added by the pack:[4]

Compressed clay from Ex Deorum

You can get Compressed Clay (1x) by mixing Compressed Dust with water in an Ex Deorum barrel. The pack's script sets the fluid amount to 1,000. The dust itself comes from a pack-added hammer recipe that uses Compressium's redsand and sand blocks.[4][6]

In the quest book

The Philosopher's Stone recipe above is what the "ProjectE Philo Stone" chapter is built around. It sits in the Production group as chapter 33 of 44 and has 113 quests. Its Compressium quest asks for 2 of Compressed Cobblestone (8x): a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone". Two follow-up quests, a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" and a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", each ask for 1. The rest of the chapter asks for the other ingredients of the recipe. Some of the chapter's quests are not shown here, so check the quest book for the full list.[2][4]

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Compressium?

2 parts

In the pack's quest book, Compressium appears in one chapter: "ProjectE Philo Stone". The book puts it in the Production group, as chapter 33 of 44. The chapter has 113 quests, and most of them just ask you to hand in items on the way to the Philosopher's Stone.[2]

What the quests ask for

Three quests in that chapter ask for Compressed Cobblestone (8x). The first, a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", asks you to hand in 2 and has no prerequisite listed. a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" and a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" each ask for 1, and each is set after a quest with the same name, Compressed Cobblestone (8x).[2]

Where it leads

In the quest book, these quests lead into a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", the Philosopher's Stone quest. Its prerequisite list is very long and includes two Compressed Cobblestone (8x) entries. It also includes the quests for items from many other mods, such as Supremium Ingots, Soul Stars, the Cataclysm eyes and Octadic Capacitors.[2]

Tip: The book doesn't say which of the three Compressed Cobblestone quests the Philosopher's Stone quest points at, so plan on completing all three before you go for it.[2]
