What is Bosses of Mass Destruction?
1 part
This pack includes Bosses of Mass Destruction 1.1.2, in the file BOMD-Forge-1.20.1-1.1.2.jar. It was already in the pack by 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[1]
The sources I have don't describe what the mod's content does, and there is no in-jar guidebook to draw on. So this page sticks to what the pack's quest book shows: where the mod's items turn up.[1][2]
Where the quest book puts it
The mod's items appear in the chapter "ProjectE Philo Stone", which sits in the "Production" group and is chapter 33 of 44 in the book. The chapter has 113 quests. Four of them aren't shown in my sources, so check the quest book itself for those.[2]
Two items from this mod are asked for. The Soul Star has a quest that wants 4 of them (a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone"). It also has four single-item quests, and each is listed as coming after a quest with the same name, for example a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone". The Blazing Eye has a single quest (a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone"), followed by a second one with the same name (a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone").[2]
The chapter is a mix of items from many mods, not just this one. Next to the mod's items you'll find quests for things like the Ur-Ghast Trophy (a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone") and several Cataclysm eyes, such as a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone". The sources don't say which chapters sit directly before or after it in the book.[2]
How do you get started with Bosses of Mass Destruction?
8 parts
Welcome in! Bosses of Mass Destruction adds bosses and a set of crafted items. Here are the ones with crafting recipes in this pack, in a sensible order, with the exact in-pack recipe on each card.[3][4]
Brimstone Nectar
Start with Brimstone Nectar. Its tooltip says it resets nearby boss structures on use, so it is your safety net if a boss arena gets messed up.[4]
Void Lily
Next up is Void Lily. Its tooltip asks "Where does the pollen lead?", which is all the language file tells us about it.[4]
Items that need mod-only materials
Keep an eye out for Obsidian Heart, Void Thorn, Ancient Anima and Blazing Eye, because they turn up in the recipes below. Each recipe card shows the exact in-pack recipe.[3]
Staff of Suppression
The Staff of Suppression is a block. When placed, mobs won't spawn in any 64 block direction, which is handy for keeping a base clear of extra spawns.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: bosses_of_mass_destruction:mob_ward
Movement tools
The Earthdive Spear grants a short range teleport through solid blocks. The Charged Ender Pearl is reusable and gives brief resistance after the teleport.[4]
Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: bosses_of_mass_destruction:charged_ender_pearl
Blast Amplifier
The Blast Amplifier is placed in the world and increases explosion power by 30% in any 64 block direction. The effect cannot stack, so one is enough.[4]

Where the quest book comes in
This pack's quest book asks you to hand in two items from this mod, in its "ProjectE Philo Stone" chapter (group "Production", chapter 33 of 44). One quest asks for Blazing Eye (a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone") and another for 4 Soul Star (a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone"). Both are listed as prerequisites of the Philosopher's Stone quest (a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone").[2]
Boss settings in this pack
Before you pick a fight, here is what the pack's config sets for boss health.[5]
- Night Lich: lichConfig.health is 300.[5]
- Nether Gauntlet: gauntletConfig.health is 250.[5]
- Obsidilith: obsidilithConfig.health is 300.[5]
- Void Blossom: voidBlossomConfig.health is 350.[5]
The Night Lich's summon mechanic is enabled, and lichConfig.summonMechanic.numEntitiesKilledToDropSoulStar is set to 50, the number of kills tied to a Soul Star drop.[5]
How does Bosses of Mass Destruction work?
6 parts
This mod works differently from the machine mods in the pack. The sources show no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation for it. What they do show is a set of placeable utility blocks, a few boss-fight items, and four bosses whose values the pack sets in its config. That is what this section covers.[4][5]
Placeable utility blocks
Three blocks work as area effects once you place them. The Table of Elevation grants creative flight in a 7x7 column. The pack sets its radius with generalConfig.tableOfElevationRadius to 3.[4][5]
The Staff of Suppression stops mobs from spawning in any 64 block direction when placed.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: bosses_of_mass_destruction:mob_ward
The Blast Amplifier increases explosion power by 30% in any 64 block direction. The tooltip says this effect cannot stack, so placing several won't add up.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: bosses_of_mass_destruction:blast_amplifier
Boss-fight items
Brimstone Nectar resets nearby boss structures when you use it, which is handy if a fight went wrong.[4]
The Charged Ender Pearl is reusable and gives brief resistance after you teleport.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: bosses_of_mass_destruction:charged_ender_pearl
The Earthdive Spear grants a short range teleport through solid blocks.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: bosses_of_mass_destruction:earthdive_spear
The Void Lily has the tooltip "Where does the pollen lead?", and this is how you craft it.[3][4]
Boss values in this pack
The pack's config file sets the following values for the Nether Gauntlet, the Obsidilith and the Void Blossom.[5]
- Nether Gauntlet: health 250, armor 8, attack 16 and 1,000 experience on death. It heals 0.5 per tick when idle and spawns ancient debris on death. Its energized punch explosion size is 4.5 and its normal punch explosion multiplier is 1.5.[5]
- Obsidilith: health 300, armor 14, attack 16 and 1,000 experience. It heals 0.5 per tick when idle, its anvil attack explosion strength is 4, and it spawns a pillar on death.[5]
- Void Blossom: health 350, armor 4, attack 12 and 1,000 experience. It heals 0.5 per tick when idle.[5]
The Night Lich and the Soul Star
The Night Lich has health 300 and drops 1,500 experience. Its comet explosion strength is 4. Its missiles deal 9 damage and apply slowness at amplifier 2 for a duration of 100. Eternal nighttime is turned on in this pack, so expect the night to stay while you fight it.[5]
The Lich's summon mechanic is enabled. Killing 50 of the listed entities makes the game drop a Soul Star. The counted entities are skeletons, giants, phantoms, zoglins, zombified piglins, wither skeletons, husks, skeleton horses, strays, zombie horses, zombies, drowned, withers and zombie villagers. The Soul Star's tooltip just asks "Where does it lead?".[4][5][6]
The pack also adds a second source. A loot script gives entity loot in the Overworld a 0.01 chance to include a Soul Star.[6]
Void Blossom structure changes
The pack overrides where the Void Blossom structure generates. Its biome tag now lists sparse jungle, beach and lukewarm ocean. The structure file places it in the underground decoration step with an absolute start height of 80. Its monster spawn override covers the full bounding box with an empty spawn list.[7][8]
Boss drops in pack recipes
Boss drops are also used in the pack's endgame table recipes: Infinity 12, the Philosopher's Stone, the Ultimate Heart, the Vibranium Seeds and the Ultimate Stew. Among the mod's items, the Blazing Eye, Void Thorn, Obsidian Heart, Ancient Anima and Soul Star turn up across these, and Crystal Fruit appears in the Ultimate Stew. Check each recipe in-game for the exact layout.[9][10][11][12][13]
How do you progress through Bosses of Mass Destruction?
3 parts
In this pack's quest book, the "ProjectE Philo Stone" chapter in the "Production" group is where you are asked to hand in items from Bosses of Mass Destruction. Only a small slice of that chapter's quests involves this mod.[2]
Where the quest book uses it
The chapter asks you to hand in two of the mod's items. The first is the Blazing Eye, in quests a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" and a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone". The second is the Soul Star. One quest, a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", asks you to hand in 4 of them, and follow-up quests like a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" ask for one at a time.[2]
The Philosopher's Stone quest, a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", comes after all of these. Among the many quests it follows in the chapter are the Blazing Eye and Soul Star ones, and it asks you to hand in the ProjectE Philosopher's Stone.[2]
Crafting what the mod offers
The recipe dump lists the crafting recipes that make items from this mod, and they are all listed as the mod's own recipes. Here they are, as the exact in-pack recipes.[3]

Recipe id: bosses_of_mass_destruction:blast_amplifier
Makes the Blast Amplifier, and this is listed as a mod recipe.
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: bosses_of_mass_destruction:mob_ward

Makes the Charged Ender Pearl, and this is a shapeless recipe.
Makes the Brimstone Nectar, and this is a shapeless recipe.
Makes the Void Lily, and this is a shapeless recipe.
What the pack changes
- The pack adds a loot rule for the Soul Star. Entity loot in the Overworld can drop one with a random chance of 0.01.[6]
- The pack ships its own data files for the Void Blossom structure. The biome tag lists sparse jungle, beach and lukewarm ocean. The structure file starts it at an absolute height of 80 in the underground decoration step and gives it an empty monster spawn list.[7][8]
- The Obsidian Heart is one of the ingredients in the pack's Ultimate Heart recipe, a shapeless Extended Crafting table recipe with many other hearts. It makes Ultimate Heart.[11]
How does Bosses of Mass Destruction work with other mods?
5 parts
Bosses of Mass Destruction doesn't stand alone in this pack. Several of its drops are ingredients in endgame recipes that mix items from many other mods, and every one of them is crafted in an Extended Crafting table.[3]
Infinity 12
Infinity 12 is a recipe the pack added to an Extended Crafting shaped table. It needs all four of the mod's boss drops: Ancient Anima, Blazing Eye, Obsidian Heart and Void Thorn. They sit alongside items from other mods, for example Ancient Metal Ingot and Ultimate Stellar Core.[3]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)
Recipe id: kubejs:infinity_12
Vibranium Seeds
The pack also added the recipe for Vibranium Seeds, again in an Extended Crafting shaped table. It uses the same four drops as Infinity 12, plus Soul Star. The rest of the recipe comes from other mods, such as Vibranium Ingot and Neutronium Ingot.[3]
Shaped Table (extendedcrafting)

Philosopher's Stone
The pack changed the Philosopher's Stone recipe. It is made in an Extended Crafting shaped table and asks for Blazing Eye and Soul Star together with items like the Cataclysm boss eyes, for example Eye of Void.[3]

In the quest book
The quest book covers these items in the "ProjectE Philo Stone" chapter, in the "Production" group (chapter 33 of 44). It has quests for Blazing Eye, such as a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" and its follow-up a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone". It also has several for Soul Star. a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" asks for 4, and follow-ups like a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" ask for 1. The chapter has 113 quests and not all of them could be shown here, so check the quest book for the full list.[2]
Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Bosses of Mass Destruction?
2 parts
The pack's quest book asks you to hand in this mod's items in one chapter: "ProjectE Philo Stone". It is in the "Production" group, chapter 33 of 44 in the book, and it has 113 quests. Only a handful of them ask for items from this mod.[2]
What the chapter asks for
Most of the chapter is a long shopping list of items from many mods. Two of them come from Bosses of Mass Destruction: the Blazing Eye and the Soul Star.[2]
- a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" has no prerequisite and asks you to hand in one Blazing Eye. A second quest with the same name, a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", also asks for one Blazing Eye and comes after a quest titled Blazing Eye.[2]
- a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" has no prerequisite and asks you to hand in 4 Soul Stars.[2]
- Four more Soul Star quests each ask you to hand in a single Soul Star: a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone", a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" and a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone". Each one comes after a quest titled Soul Star.[2]
Where it leads
a quest in "ProjectE Philo Stone" asks you to hand in the Philosopher's Stone. It comes after the item quests of this chapter, including the Blazing Eye and Soul Star quests above, not only this mod's.[2]
Which Bosses of Mass Destruction config options matter?
5 parts
Everything for the bosses lives in one file, generalConfig.tableOfElevationRadius and the boss sections beside it. Below are the values this pack sets, boss by boss, so you know what you're walking into.[5]
The Lich
- Health is set to 300 with lichConfig.health, and the kill gives 1,500 experience through lichConfig.experienceDrop.[5]
- lichConfig.eternalNighttime is true in this pack.[5]
- Missiles do 9 damage (lichConfig.missile.damage) and apply minecraft:slowness (lichConfig.missile.mobEffectId) at amplifier 2 for a duration of 100 (lichConfig.missile.mobEffectAmplifier, lichConfig.missile.mobEffectDuration).[5]
- Comet explosions have a strength of 4 (lichConfig.comet.explosionStrength).[5]
- The summon mechanic is on (lichConfig.summonMechanic.isEnabled). You need to kill 50 counted mobs to get a Soul Star drop (lichConfig.summonMechanic.numEntitiesKilledToDropSoulStar). The counted list (lichConfig.summonMechanic.entitiesThatCountToSummonCounter) covers undead like skeletons, zombies, husks, drowned, strays, phantoms, zoglins, zombified piglins, wither skeletons and the wither, plus giants and skeleton, zombie horses and zombie villagers.[5]
The Gauntlet
- Stats are health 250, armor 8 and attack 16 (gauntletConfig.health, gauntletConfig.armor, gauntletConfig.attack). It heals 0.5 while idle (gauntletConfig.idleHealingPerTick) and drops 1,000 experience (gauntletConfig.experienceDrop).[5]
- Energized punches explode at size 4.5 (gauntletConfig.energizedPunchExplosionSize), and normal punches use a multiplier of 1.5 (gauntletConfig.normalPunchExplosionMultiplier).[5]
- gauntletConfig.spawnAncientDebrisOnDeath is true, so it spawns ancient debris when it dies.[5]
Obsidilith
- Stats are health 300, armor 14 and attack 16 (obsidilithConfig.health, obsidilithConfig.armor, obsidilithConfig.attack). It heals 0.5 while idle (obsidilithConfig.idleHealingPerTick) and drops 1,000 experience (obsidilithConfig.experienceDrop).[5]
- The anvil attack explosion strength is 4 (obsidilithConfig.anvilAttackExplosionStrength), and a pillar spawns on death (obsidilithConfig.spawnPillarOnDeath is true).[5]
Void Blossom
- Stats are health 350, armor 4 and attack 12 (voidBlossomConfig.health, voidBlossomConfig.armor, voidBlossomConfig.attack). It heals 0.5 while idle (voidBlossomConfig.idleHealingPerTick) and drops 1,000 experience (voidBlossomConfig.experienceDrop).[5]
Everything else
The table of elevation radius is 3 in this pack (generalConfig.tableOfElevationRadius).[5]
Unverified The sources only list the values this pack uses, not the mod's defaults, so it is unverified which of these numbers the pack changed from the mod's own defaults.
