What is Tempad?
1 part
Tempad is a teleportation mod inspired by Marvel's Loki. Instead of one big teleporter, you get a set of themed items and blocks that each handle a different way of getting around.[1]
The main pieces are the Timedoor Projector and Timedoor Marker, which let you set teleport locations and travel between them through Timedoors. The Card Wallet stores your Location Card items, and the Time Twister takes you back to previous locations. The Location Broadcaster lets other players teleport straight to you. For block versions, there's the Workstation, a block-form variant of the portable Tempad, and the Metronome, a block-form device for powering teleportation mechanics.[1][2]
The pack ships Tempad 3.0.4, so you're getting the 1.21.1 build of the mod.[3]
Where it fits in the pack
Tempad has its own quest line, and it begins early. In the getting started chapter, "Chronon Generator" quest asks for the Chronon Generator. That quest unlocks the Tempad branch in the exploration and combat chapter.[2][4]
- "The Tempad Mod" quest asks for the Location Card, Card Wallet and Location Broadcaster.[2]
- Three quests then open up: "Timedoor Projector" quest for the Timedoor Projector, "Timedoor Markers" quest for the Timedoor Marker and Chronomark, and "Time Steel" quest for Time Steel and the Chronon Battery.[2]
- The Time Steel quest leads on to the Time Twister (a quest in "Exploration"), the Chronometer (a quest in "Exploration") and the Tempad itself ("Tempad" quest).[2]
- The Tempad quest is followed by "Workstation" quest, which asks for the Workstation and the Player Teleport Upgrade. The Chronometer quest is followed by "Metronome" quest, which asks for the Metronome.[2]
The Creative Chronometer shows up as one of the tasks in the creative chapter's final quest, "Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest, alongside creative items from several other mods. The same item list appears again in the backrooms chapter, in a quest in "Backstage".[5][6]
How do you get started with Tempad?
3 parts
Tempad is all about opening portals to anywhere, from anywhere. In this pack the quest book walks you through it in a clear order, so you can follow the chain and build things as the quests ask for them.[1][2][4]
The order to build things
- Start with the Chronon Generator. It's the first Tempad quest, "Chronon Generator" quest, in the getting started chapter, and the Tempad quests in the exploration and combat chapter follow on from it.[2][4]
- Next, make a Location Card, a Card Wallet and a Location Broadcaster for "The Tempad Mod" quest. The wallet stores and manages your location cards, and the broadcaster lets other players teleport straight to you.[1][2]
- Then build the Timedoor Projector for "Timedoor Projector" quest. The Timedoor Marker and Chronomark for "Timedoor Markers" quest go with it. The projector and marker are how you set teleport locations and travel between them with Timedoors.[1][2]
- Get Time Steel and a Chronon Battery for "Time Steel" quest. The next three quests all unlock after this one.[2]
- After that, pick up the Time Twister (a quest in "Exploration"), which returns you to previous locations. The Chronometer (a quest in "Exploration") and the Tempad itself ("Tempad" quest) unlock after the Time Steel quest too.[1][2]
- Finish with the block-form gear. The Workstation and Player Teleport Upgrade come in "Workstation" quest, after the Tempad. The Metronome comes in "Metronome" quest, after the Chronometer.[1][2]
Recipes for the early steps
The Chronon Cell is the first thing to craft, since the Chronon Generator recipe uses it.[7]

How does Tempad work?
9 parts
Tempad is all about portals. You set up locations, then open Timedoors to travel between them, and everything runs on one resource: Chronons. This section covers how Chronons are made and stored, how locations get recorded onto cards and devices, and how the player teleport system and the Workstation behave in this pack.[1][8]
Chronons: the fuel
Chronons are the fuel for the mod's multiversal devices. Your first step is generating and storing them. A Chronon Cell is the primitive way to store Chronons, and cells are also used as materials for more advanced devices.[8]

Recipe id: tempad:chronon_cell
An empty Chronon Cell charges slowly over time if you carry it alongside a Chronometer or a Chronon Generator. You can also place it inside a Metronome. Once a cell is charged, it passes its Chronons to all your carried devices automatically, as long as everything sits in your main inventory or in curio slots.[8]
The Chronon Battery works the same way but holds more Chronons than a single cell. It is built from smaller cells, and the mod calls it the ideal way to carry Chronons on the go.[8]

Generating Chronons on you
The Chronon Generator is the primitive generator. Keep it in your main inventory or a curio slot and it synthesizes Chronons, which are then distributed to your carried devices or storage cells automatically.[8]

The Chronometer does the same job, and a properly crafted one generates Chronons at a faster rate than the primitive options.[8]

The Metronome: block-form power
The Metronome is the block-form power source. After you place it, it shows a booting status. Once it has booted, it generates Chronons into its own internal battery.[1][8]
Right-click it to open its interface. Slots on the left store Chronons from devices you place there, and slots on the right let you take Chronons out. The Metronome is tied to your temporal aura, so it can be locked against other players with the lock button in the upper right. It is locked by default.[8]
If you place more Metronomes, they link after booting with your existing ones in a multiversal network. Linked Metronomes combine their maximum storage capacity and also combine their charging power, so they generate more Chronons with each pulse.[8]

Locations and Location Cards
Location Card items record spatial coordinates for use in multiversal devices. This pack has two ways to make them: the cheaper recipe gives 4 cards, and the more expensive one gives 16.[7][8]
To write coordinates onto a card, place a Timedoor Marker or a Chronomark where you want the destination and right-click it with the card. The card is then written. Right-clicking a card onto the information panel for a location saved in the Knowledge Projector also writes that location to the card. Written cards can then supply location data to your devices.[8]
Used with an empty hand, a Timedoor Marker opens an interface where you can configure the device name, the Timedoor color and security options. The Chronomark is the upgraded stationary block. It also supports an offset, handy if you want to mount it on a high ceiling or bury it under the floor, and it offers more filtering options.[8]

The Chronomark can filter which users may freely access it, based on the team or guild frameworks that are available and compatible. The mod's project page lists Argonauts and FTB Teams as supported ways to filter by guild, party or teammates.[1][8]
Want to reuse a written card? Put it in the crafting grid and its data is wiped. The Card Wallet keeps your cards together in one item, and reports an empty wallet as having no cards.[1][8]

Opening Timedoors
The Timedoor Projector and Timedoor Marker are the pair used to set teleport locations and travel between them with Timedoors. When you set up a portal, you can place it with offsets relative to yourself. Front/back, left/right and up/down values are all available. Positive values put the portal in front, to your left, or higher, and negative values put it behind, to your right, or lower. Decimal values such as 1.3 are accepted.[1][8]

Teleporting to players
The Location Broadcaster lets other players find you. While you carry it in your inventory or a curio slot and it is turned on, you appear in the list of possible teleports for devices that have the Teleport to Players upgrade. Use the item in your hand to toggle it. The screen glows green when teleportation to you is enabled and red when it is disabled.[8]

The Screening Device is paired with the broadcaster on the mod's feature list for letting other players teleport to you with advanced filtering.[1]
Workstation
The Workstation is the block-form variant of the portable Tempad. It is made of a main block and a separate Workstation Child block, and it shows an installing status while upgrades are being installed.[1][8]

This pack adds a script for broken Workstation Child blocks. If the child's parent Workstation is still in place, breaking the child works as normal. If the parent is missing, the break is cancelled and the child block is simply removed (replaced with air). So a leftover half of a Workstation will not get stuck in your world.[9]
What cannot be teleported
This pack tags some entities as not supported for Tempad teleporting. They include the Ender Dragon, the Warden, the Wither, text displays, and several modded bosses: the ender chicken, the Iron's Spells fire boss, Ignis from Cataclysm, and the Twilight Forest Lich. Every entity from the Cataclysm mod is also covered.[10]
Other items
The Time Twister is described as a way to return to previous locations. The Knowledge Projector holds the mod's in-game documentation, so it is worth crafting early.[1]

How do you progress through Tempad?
6 parts
Tempad doesn't have formal tiers in this pack. The progression is a quest chain that starts in the getting started chapter and continues in the exploration and combat chapter. Each step builds on the one before it, so you can follow the quests in order.[2][4]
Stage 1: Power and the basics
The chain starts with the Chronon Generator in quest "Chronon Generator" quest. It unlocks once two earlier quests are done. Everything after it hangs off this quest.[4]
The Chronon Cell is the base component for the early Tempad items. The Chronon Generator, the Chronon Battery and the Timedoor Projector all use it in their recipes.[7]

Stage 2: Locations and timedoors
Quest "The Tempad Mod" quest asks for a Location Card, a Card Wallet and a Location Broadcaster. The pack has two Location Card recipes, and one of them uses Time Steel. Both are shown below.[2][7]

Stage 3: Time Steel and the Tempad
Once you have Time Steel and a Chronon Battery, three more quests open up. Most of the recipes from here on need Time Steel.[2][7]
- Quest "Tempad" quest asks for the Tempad itself.[2]
- Quest a quest in "Exploration" asks for the Chronometer.[2]
- Quest a quest in "Exploration" asks for the Time Twister.[2]

Extras without a quest
The pack has recipes for the Knowledge Projector, Knowledge Repository Upgrade, Screening Device and New Location Upgrade. None of the Tempad quests I was given ask for them, so they're optional extras.[2][4][7]
Creative Chronometer
The Creative Chronometer shows up in a group of creative items that also includes items from other mods. That group appears in quest "Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest in the creative chapter and in quest a quest in "Backstage" in the thebackrooms chapter. A separate creative quest, a quest in "Tier 6: Ascension", asks for a Chronometer, Time Steel and a Chronon Battery, along with several items from other mods.[5][6]
How does Tempad work with other mods?
2 parts
In this pack, Tempad connects to other mods through a handful of pack-added World Engine recipes and a few quests that put Tempad items next to items from other mods. Nothing here is a Tempad default. These links come from the pack's own recipe and quest data.[2][5][7]
World Engine recipes
The pack adds several recipes in the World Engine custom machine that involve Tempad items. They tie Time Steel and Chronon Battery into progression from several other mods. The recipe viewer below shows the exact in-pack versions.[7]
Time Steel has its own World Engine recipe, which pulls in an item from Powah.[7]
Custom Machine (custommachinery)
Recipe id: ftb:world_engine/time_steel
The Chronon Resonator recipe is the widest crossover. It involves a Chronon Battery plus items from Draconic Evolution, Mekanism, MFFS, Oritech and Just Dire Things, which makes Chronon Resonator a real multi-mod project.[7]
Custom Machine (custommachinery)
16× Wyvern Core
32× Chroniton Glass

8× Time Crystal
16× Teleportation Core
4000× Fortron Fluid
10000× Sheol Fire

Time Steel also shows up in the recipe for the ProjectE Repair Talisman. That recipe uses dusts from the pack's materials mod and ProjectE's Red Matter.[7]
Custom Machine (custommachinery)
Recipe id: ftb:world_engine/repair_talisman
The Timey Wimey Chicken from Chicken Roost is a more unusual link. Its World Engine recipe uses Time Steel together with items from Just Dire Things and Occultism.[7]
Custom Machine (custommachinery)
Timey Wimey Chicken
Chicken Seed Tier 9
Fortron Infused Block
4× Time Crystal
4000× Time Fluid Source
8× Awakened Feather
36× Time Steel

Quest connections
- The quest "Chronon Generator" quest in the Getting Started chapter asks for the Chronon Generator. It unlocks the Tempad questline in the exploration chapter and comes after two other quests.[2][4]
- The quest a quest in "Tier 6: Ascension" in the creative chapter asks for a Chronometer, Time Steel and a Chronon Battery in the same quest as items from other mods. The Tempad parts mix with the rest of the pack's tech here.[5]
- The quest "Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest lists the Creative Chronometer alongside creative items from many other mods. The quest a quest in "Backstage" in the Backrooms chapter lists the same set of items.[5][6]
The rest of the Tempad quests in the exploration chapter, such as "Time Steel" quest for Time Steel and the Chronon Battery, only ask for Tempad items.[2]
Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Tempad?
4 parts
Tempad quests appear in four chapters of the pack: getting started, exploration and combat, creative, and the backrooms. The quests have no titles in the pack, so this page refers to them by ID. The main Tempad line is in the exploration and combat chapter, and it begins with one quest in getting started.[2][4][5][6]
Getting started
Quest "Chronon Generator" quest asks for the Chronon Generator. It comes after two other quests, and the first quest of the Tempad line in the exploration and combat chapter comes after it.[2][4]
Exploration and combat chapter
This chapter holds the whole Tempad progression. It starts with one quest, then splits into branches. Here is the order.[2]
- "The Tempad Mod" quest asks for the Location Card, the Card Wallet and the Location Broadcaster. It comes after the Chronon Generator quest.[2]
- Three quests each come directly after that one. "Timedoor Projector" quest asks for the Timedoor Projector. "Timedoor Markers" quest asks for the Timedoor Marker and the Chronomark. "Time Steel" quest asks for Time Steel and the Chronon Battery.[2]
- Three more quests come after the Time Steel and Chronon Battery quest. a quest in "Exploration" asks for the Time Twister. a quest in "Exploration" asks for the Chronometer. "Tempad" quest asks for the Tempad itself.[2]
- "Workstation" quest comes after the Tempad quest and asks for the Workstation and the Player Teleport Upgrade.[2]
- "Metronome" quest comes after the Chronometer quest and asks for the Metronome.[2]
So after the first quest you can choose between the projector, the marker and the Time Steel branches. The Time Twister, Chronometer and Tempad quests all wait for Time Steel and Chronon Battery.[2]
Creative chapter
Quest a quest in "Tier 6: Ascension" asks for the Chronometer, Time Steel and the Chronon Battery, plus several items from other mods. It comes after a quest that is not one of the Tempad quests listed here.[5]
Quest "Ascension Tier 2 - Transcendent" quest is a collection quest that asks for a creative-tier item from each of several mods. Tempad's entry is the Creative Chronometer. It comes after the previous quest and several others.[5]
The backrooms chapter
Quest a quest in "Backstage" asks for the same set of creative items as the collection quest in the creative chapter, including the Creative Chronometer. It comes after a single quest.[5][6]
What changed in Tempad between versions?
1 part
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Tempad 3.0.4. The mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier, so this is the version you are playing with right now.[3]
What changed in Tempad 3.0.4
The mod's own changelog for this release is a mix of quality of life tweaks and bug fixes. Here is what it lists:[11]
- You can now shift right click batteries on blocks to take energy out of them if the battery is empty.[11]
- The Metronome inventory is now accessible with pipes, which is handy for automating it.[11]
- Text rendering was fixed, so it no longer looks crunchy and weird.[11]
- The Timedoor Projector now opens glitchy portals correctly when it is in your hand.[11]
- Several missing config entries were fixed.[11]
- Timedoors are no longer chunkloaded forever.[11]
I don't have any pack changelog entries that mention Tempad, so there is nothing further to report on pack-specific changes to the mod across releases.[3]
