What is FTB Teams?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.0 guide

FTB Teams is included in this pack as version 2101.1.10, built for NeoForge. It has also been part of the pack for a long time, since at least an early release, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified There are no verified sources here for what FTB Teams does in this pack, which players it is aimed at, or how it fits into progression. Judging by its name, it likely handles player teams or parties, but that is unconfirmed. Check it in-game before relying on it.

How do you get started with FTB Teams?

3 parts

Getting started with FTB Teams in this pack is about chat commands, not crafting. The pack's quest book covers it in the very first chapter, "Welcome!" (chapter 1 of 22), in the quest "Creating and Joining a team" quest.[2]

The key thing to know: when you join a world for the first time, a team is created for you automatically. If you want to share a starting base with friends, you have to leave that team first.[2]

Teaming up with friends

  1. Join the world. A team is automatically created for you the first time you join.[2]
  2. Type /ftbteams party leave in chat, then type it once more to confirm.[2]
  3. The party leader invites each player by typing /ftbteams party invite <username>.[2]
  4. The invited player gets a message in chat asking them to accept or decline the invite.[2]
Tip: The mod's own text describes a Party team as a way to invite members and progress together, which is exactly what you want for a shared base.[3]

The Teams screen

FTB Teams adds a keybind called "Open Teams GUI" under the "FTB Teams" category in your controls. Check your key bindings to see or set which key opens it.[3]

Party limits to be aware of

The mod has server settings that can cap how many players a party holds, and a limited lives option. With limited lives on, each member death costs the party a life, and a party with no lives left cannot invite new members.[3]

Unverified Whether this pack actually turns on a party size limit or limited lives is not confirmed by the available sources, so check with your server admin before planning a big team.

How does FTB Teams work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

The sources for FTB Teams describe a team system, so the core mechanics here are about how parties work. You open the team screen with the "Open Teams GUI" key, which you'll find under the FTB Teams category in your controls.[4]

Party teams

A Party team lets you invite members and progress together. The create-party screen describes it that way, so that's the one to pick if you're playing with friends.[4]

Server settings that shape a party

The server settings for maximum party size and limited lives change how parties behave. Here is what each one does.[4]

  • Maximum party size: if it is above 0, a party can't have more players than that number. If it is 0, there is no limit.[4]
  • If the size limit is changed while larger teams already exist, those parties keep their current size, but they can't invite new members.[4]
  • Limited lives: if the setting is above 0, party lives apply. Each time a member dies, the party loses a life.[4]
  • Once the party has no lives left, a member who dies is kicked from the party. A party with no lives remaining also can't invite new members.[4]
  • If the party owner dies while limited lives are on, a random member becomes the new owner, and officers get priority.[4]
Watch out: With limited lives on, running out of party lives means the next death gets that player kicked from the party. Keep an eye on the remaining lives before a risky fight.[4]

Unverified The values this pack uses for maximum party size and limited lives are set in the server config for FTB Teams, and the sources here do not show them. Check them on your own server.

How do you progress through FTB Teams?

2 parts

FTB Teams has no tiers to climb in this pack. The quest book only touches it once, in the first chapter, "Welcome!" (chapter 1 of 22), where the quest "Creating and Joining a team" quest explains how to share a starting base with friends.[2]

Getting your group into one team

When you join a world for the first time, a team is created for you automatically. If you want to share a base with friends, you have to leave that team first. Here is the process the quest gives:[2]

  1. Type /ftbteams party leave in chat, then type it once more to confirm.[2]
  2. The party leader invites each new player with /ftbteams party invite followed by the player's username.[2]
  3. A message shows up in chat prompting the invited player to accept or decline.[2]
Tip: Do the leave step before you start playing in earnest. The quest says a team is created for you automatically on your first join, so you need to leave it before the leader's invite can bring you into the shared party.[2]

Other quests in the same chapter

Right next to it, the chapter opens with "Welcome To Stoneblock 4!" quest, which describes the pack as story-driven. It says some mods may be gated by the storyline and names completing the World Engine as the final challenge. "Found A Bug?" quest asks you to report bugs and warns against Force Completing quests in Editing Mode unless a member of the FTB Team tells you to, because it can break your progression.[2]

There is also an untitled quest, a quest in "Welcome!", that lists handy commands. /home unlocks during the main quest in the early game and takes you back to your base. /back returns you to where you died. /spawn teleports you to the lobby, which the quest calls very important in this pack. /spark tps checks the server's TPS if your world feels laggy.[2]

Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use FTB Teams?

2 parts

FTB Teams shows up in one quest in this pack, and you meet it right at the start. It sits in the "Welcome!" chapter, which is chapter 1 of 22 in the quest book and has 4 quests.[2]

The quest is "Creating and Joining a team" quest. It only has a checkmark task, so there is nothing to collect or craft. You read it, then tick it off. It is there to explain how to share a starting base with friends.[2]

What the quest tells you to do

When you join a world for the first time, a team is created for you automatically. If you want to share a base with friends, you first have to leave that team. The quest then walks you through the party commands.[2]

  1. Type /ftbteams party leave in chat to leave your automatically created team, then type it once more to confirm.[2]
  2. The party leader invites each new player with /ftbteams party invite <username>.[2]
  3. A message appears in chat asking the invited player to accept or decline.[2]
Tip: Sort out your party before you start playing. The quest is aimed at people who want to be in the same starting base, so do the leave and invite steps first.[2]

The rest of the chapter

The other quests in "Welcome!" are general information and do not involve FTB Teams. They are "Welcome To Stoneblock 4!" quest, "Found A Bug?" quest, and an untitled quest, a quest in "Welcome!", which lists useful commands such as /home, /back, /spawn and /spark tps. All of them are checkmark quests too.[2]

The source lists "Creating and Joining a team" quest first in the chapter. It does not say whether the quests have to be done in a set order.[2]

Watch out: "Found A Bug?" quest asks you not to Force Complete quests in Editing Mode unless a member of the FTB Team tells you to, because it can completely break your pack progression.[2]
