Draconic Evolution is a mod in FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0, where it is version 3.1.4.633. End game tech (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Draconic Evolution?

2 parts

Draconic Evolution is an end-game tech mod. Its project page describes high-tier tools and armor, high-tier RF energy storage, and extras like teleportation, mob farming, player detection and time and weather control. The author also says that description is old, so treat it as a rough summary. This pack includes version 3.1.4.633.[1][2]

The pack's quest book calls it a mid-game to late-game mod built around dragons, energy and very overpowered equipment. You start by collecting Draconium Dust, which mainly comes from meteorites containing draconium ore in the End.[3]

Where it sits in the quest book

The "Draconic Evolution" chapter is in the "Tech Mods" group and is chapter 23 of 31 in the book. It has 14 quests. The mod is not on the ATM Star path. The quest sources I have don't name the chapters directly before and after it.[3]

The mod also shows up outside its own chapter. In "Useful Items & Tips" (chapter 2 of 31), the Easy Disenchanting quest uses a Draconium Block together with an anvil to pull enchantments off items.[4]

How the chapter progresses

  1. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" opens the chapter, then a quest in "Draconic Evolution" follows it.[3]
  2. After the Draconium Core, the chapter branches into a quest in "Draconic Evolution" for Fusion Crafting, a quest in "Draconic Evolution" for energy crystals, and a quest in "Draconic Evolution".[3]
  3. The Wyvern Core leads to a quest in "Draconic Evolution". The Wyvern injector quest needs both the Wyvern Core and the Draconium injector quests first.[3]
  4. After a quest in "Draconic Evolution" you reach a quest in "Draconic Evolution" and a quest in "Draconic Evolution".[3]
  5. The Awakened Draconium Block unlocks "Chaos Fragments" quest and a quest in "Draconic Evolution". The Chaos Fragments quest then leads to a quest in "Draconic Evolution".[3]
  6. The chapter ends with two quests after the Chaotic injector: a quest in "Draconic Evolution", which covers the Draconic Reactor, and a quest in "Draconic Evolution".[3]
Watch out: The quest book warns that the Draconic Reactor can explode, so read the Flux Gate quest fully before you build one.[3]

How do you get started with Draconic Evolution?

6 parts

The pack's quest book describes Draconic Evolution as a mid-game to late-game mod and walks you through it in a set order. Its chapter sits in the Tech Mods group. Here is the path in the order the quests give it.[3]

First, get Draconium Dust

Your first quest is a quest in "Draconic Evolution". It says the main way to get Draconium Dust is to explore the End for meteorites containing draconium ore.[3]

The pack also adds smelting and blasting recipes that turn a Draconium Dust from the neovitae mod into a Draconium Ingot. Ingots are what you need for the next step.[5]

Next, make a Draconium Core

The Draconium Core is one of the main crafting components in the mod, so you will use it constantly. The pack changed this recipe, so use the one below. The matching quest is a quest in "Draconic Evolution".[3][5]

Build your Fusion Crafting setup

Advanced items need Fusion Crafting. The Fusion Crafting Core goes in the middle, with Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector blocks placed facing towards it, 2 blocks apart. The Core needs a redstone signal to start. The quest for this is a quest in "Draconic Evolution", and the pack changed the injector recipe.[3][5]

Step up to the Wyvern tier

Next comes the Wyvern Core. The quest calls it an upgraded crafting component used for most Draconic Evolution recipes (a quest in "Draconic Evolution").[3]

With that and your first injector you can chase a quest in "Draconic Evolution". The quest asks for at least 8 Draconium injectors placed around the Core. You right-click each injector with the items it needs, and each one also needs power. Then you put the main item in the Core, and the craft should start once it has a redstone signal.[3]

Tip: Each injector needs power, so check that every injector is powered before you give the Core its redstone signal.[3]

Energy and storage

After the Wyvern Core, a quest in "Draconic Evolution" comes next. Per the quest, Energy Core Stabilizer blocks can be placed up to 8 blocks from the core, and an Energy Pylon goes within 10 blocks of it, with a glass block above or below the pylon. The pack changed the pylon recipe, shown below with the Energy Core recipe.[3][5]

For moving power around, a quest in "Draconic Evolution" covers the energy crystals. The quest says a network needs at least one I/O Crystal and one Wireless Crystal, and gives per-connection transfer rates of up to 32,000 RF/t for Basic, 128,000 RF/t for Wyvern and 256,000 RF/t for Draconic.[3]

Where it goes next

After the Wyvern injector, the quest book unlocks capacitors (a quest in "Draconic Evolution") and the Awakened Draconium Block (a quest in "Draconic Evolution"). The quest names the Dragon Heart as what you infuse to get Awakened Draconium, which you need to upgrade your existing setups. It also leads to the Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector (a quest in "Draconic Evolution"). The pack changed that injector's recipe. Both recipes are below.[3][5]

The final tier needs Chaos Fragments, found by flying thousands of blocks out in the End to the Chaos Dragon. A Chaos Island spawns every 10,000 blocks, and the quest calls the fight extremely challenging ("Chaos Fragments" quest). The Chaotic Core also appears in the Pina Colada chapter (a quest in "Pina Colada").[3][6]

How does Draconic Evolution work?

6 parts

Draconic Evolution is the pack's high-tier tech mod: energy storage, teleportation, time and weather control and more. The sources for this pack only cover part of how it works, so this section sticks to what the mod's own text and the pack's recipes confirm.[1][7]

Fusion crafting

Many of the mod's key components are made by fusion crafting, which is its own recipe type. The machine names show the setup: a Fusion Crafting Core plus crafting injectors in four tiers, Draconium, Wyvern, Draconic and Chaotic.[5][7]

The higher injectors build on the ones below. The Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector uses the Wyvern injector as an ingredient, and the Chaotic Fusion Crafting Injector uses the Draconic one. Both are fusion recipes and the pack has changed both from the mod's version, so don't trust the default recipe from other guides.[5][7]

Energy Core

The big energy storage is a multiblock called the Energy Core. Its screen is titled by tier, and it has Tier Up and Tier Down buttons, so you pick which tier the structure runs at. Next to them are Assemble Core, Activate and Deactivate buttons and a Toggle Build Guide button that helps you place the structure.[7]

The core tells you when something is wrong. It reports "Core structure invalid" if the build is wrong, and "Stabilizer configuration invalid" if the Energy Core Stabilizers are placed wrongly. The screen can also show a note that advanced stabilizers are required.[7]

The screen also has an Energy Target field. It is for display only, and it accepts plain numbers or scientific notation such as 9.223E18. You can also change the core's colour and switch to a legacy renderer from the same screen.[7]

The controller items come in three tiers: Wyvern Energy Controller, Draconic Energy Controller and Chaotic Energy Controller. The Draconic controller is crafted from the Wyvern one, and the Chaotic controller from the Draconic one.[5][7]

Moving power around

The mod has Energy Relay Crystals, Energy I/O Crystals and Wireless Energy Crystals, each in Basic, Wyvern and Draconic versions. It also has an Energy Pylon, an Energy Transfuser, a Flux Gate and a Fluid Gate. The linking tool's messages include "Devices linked", "Clear Links" and "Clear Receivers", so you connect devices by linking them.[7]

Dislocators

A Dislocator keeps a list of saved locations. Ender Pearls are its teleport fuel, and the Fuel counter shows how many teleports you have left. You can add 1, 16 or all of the Ender Pearls in your inventory with the buttons on its screen.[7]

Right click switches between two modes, "Teleport to Selected" and "Blink". You can also set keybindings for this. In the list you can add the current position, update the selected one with "Set Here", rename entries by double left clicking and drag them to reorder. An edit lock stops accidental changes.[7]

To bind an unset dislocator, sneak and right click. It stores your X, Y and Z coordinates, the direction you are facing and your current dimension. The Un-Bound Dislocator (Point-to-Point) is made from two regular dislocators plus other parts.[5][7]

The Draconium Chest has a built-in furnace with four Auto-Smelt modes. Off does nothing. All feeds every smeltable item in. Filtered only feeds items that are already being smelted. Filtered (Sticky) works the same way but keeps one item so the filter persists. You can also change the chest's colour.[7]

Compressing materials

Awakened Draconium compresses and decompresses in the usual way. Ingots craft into an Awakened Draconium Block, and a block gives back 9 ingots. Awakened Draconium dust can be smelted into an Awakened Draconium Ingot. A Chaos Shard breaks down into 9 Large Chaos Fragment.[5]

How do you progress through Draconic Evolution?

6 parts

In the pack's quest book, Draconic Evolution has its own chapter: "Draconic Evolution", in the Tech Mods group, chapter 23 of 31, with 14 quests. The chapter describes the mod as mid-game to late-game, and its quests walk you up a clear ladder: Draconium, then Wyvern, then Draconic (Awakened), then Chaotic.[3]

Starting out: Draconium

The first quest, a quest in "Draconic Evolution", asks for Draconium Dust. The quest says the main way to get it is to explore the End for meteorites containing draconium ore. Dust smelts into Draconium Ingot, and the pack also adds smelting and blasting recipes that turn NeoVitae's draconium dust into ingots.[3][5]

Next comes a quest in "Draconic Evolution", which asks for the Draconium Core. The quest calls it one of the main crafting components in the mod, and says it feeds basic recipes for items and Modules used in Draconic Armor and Tools.[3]

If you want early power from the mod, the a quest in "Power Generation" quest in the Power Generation chapter comes after the Draconium Dust quest. The quest says the Generator burns fuels to produce between 5 and 300 FE/t and has different consumption modes you can configure. The pack changed its recipe.[5][8]

Fusion crafting and the Wyvern tier

a quest in "Draconic Evolution" introduces Fusion Crafting, which the quest says you need for the more advanced items. It asks for the Fusion Crafting Core and the Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector. According to the quest, the core sits in the middle, the injectors face it from 2 blocks apart, and the core needs a redstone signal to start.[3]

For the Wyvern injector, a quest in "Draconic Evolution" says you need at least 8 Draconium injectors around the core. It tells you to right-click each injector with the item it needs, give every injector power, put the main item in the core, and provide a redstone signal to start the craft.[3]

Fusion Crafting (draconicevolution)

The pack changed this recipe.

After the Wyvern injector, a quest in "Draconic Evolution" covers the capacitors: Wyvern Capacitor, Draconic Capacitor and Chaotic Capacitor. The quest describes them as portable batteries that power other items in your inventory, and says they also work in Curio Slots. It also says this is the point where you gain access to Wyvern tools, weapons and the Wyvern Chestpiece.[3]

Energy storage and transfer

Two quests branch off the early chain. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" comes after the Wyvern Core and asks for the Energy Core, Energy Core Stabilizer and Energy Pylon. The quest describes the core as tiered storage that can hold a near-infinite amount of power when fully upgraded. It says stabilizers can go up to 8 blocks away from the core, and that a pylon within 10 blocks handles power in and out, with a glass block placed above or below the pylon.[3]

On upgrading, the quest says you surround the core with more Draconium Blocks per tier, and at tier 8 you also need Awakened Draconium Blocks. At tier 8 the stabilizers must become a ring, for a total of 36 blocks (9 per ring). The quest also mentions a build guide in the core's interface that can place the blocks from your inventory. The pack changed the Energy Pylon recipe.[3][5]

a quest in "Draconic Evolution" follows the Draconium Core and covers Energy Crystals. The quest says a network needs at least one I/O Crystal and one Wireless Crystal, and that relays only extend range. It lists the transfer per connection: Basic up to 32,000 RF/t, Wyvern up to 128,000 RF/t and Draconic up to 256,000 RF/t. The pack changed the recipes for the Basic Energy Relay Crystal and the Draconic Energy Relay Crystal.[3][5]

Awakened Draconium and the Draconic tier

After the Wyvern injector, a quest in "Draconic Evolution" introduces Awakened Draconium. The quest says you get it by infusing a Dragon Heart into your Draconium, and that you need it to upgrade your existing setups.[3][5]

Fusion Crafting (draconicevolution)

The Chaotic tier

"Chaos Fragments" quest comes after the Awakened Draconium Block and is the big gate. The quest says you have to fly out thousands of blocks in the End to find the Chaos Dragon. A Chaos Island spawns every 10,000 blocks, and the core inside can be broken after you defeat the dragon. The quest warns that this fight is extremely challenging.[3]

The recipe dump also shows a Productive Bees centrifuge recipe that gives a Tiny Chaos Fragment along with wax. One Small Chaos Fragment can be broken down into 9 of the tiny fragments.[5]

Once you have fragments, a quest in "Draconic Evolution" says you can upgrade your infusion setup to the final tier and craft Chaotic gear.[3]

The pack changed this recipe.

The Chaotic Core has its own recipe, and it is also a step in the pack's Pina Colada questline. That quest, a quest in "Pina Colada", tells you to go to the End, slay an End Guardian and destroy its Chaos crystal. The Quantum Energiser quest comes after it.[5][6]

Endgame: the Draconic Reactor

a quest in "Draconic Evolution" comes after the Chaotic injector. It covers the Draconic Reactor, which the quest calls the ultimate energy generator, capable of hundreds of millions of RF/t with the correct setup. The pack changed the recipes for the Flux Gate and the Reactor Energy Injector.[3][5]

Watch out: The quest warns that the Reactor can explode, and that a meltdown would nuke everything within 500 blocks. Read the quest pages before you press Charge.[3]
  • The quest says to place the Draconic Reactor Core in the center, with the Reactor Stabilizer blocks up to 5 blocks away, each in a separate direction, and the injector above or below it.[3]
  • It says to fuel the Reactor with Awakened Draconium (max 8 blocks at a time) plus a massive amount of energy, and that the more energy you provide, the more it produces.[3]
  • It says the core needs at least 2000°C to activate, and that at 8000°C or higher it begins heating up exponentially, which raises the chance of a meltdown.[3]
  • It says that if the Containment Field Strength reaches 0, the Reactor will explode.[3]

The last quest in the chapter, a quest in "Draconic Evolution", also comes after the Chaotic injector. The quest says the Injector Fusion Matrix automatically processes injection recipes in a single block. You place it next to an AE2 Pattern Provider that holds those recipe patterns and give it power.[3]

How does Draconic Evolution work with other mods?

5 parts

In this pack, Draconic Evolution connects to other mods mostly through recipes: some feed Draconic materials into other mods, and others need Draconic parts to craft something new. Here are the links I can confirm.[5]

Mystical Agriculture and Agradditions

You can grow your way into Draconic materials. A Draconium Essence crafts into a Draconium Ingot, and Awakened Draconium Essence crafts into 3 Awakened Draconium Nugget. Both are the mods' own recipes, unchanged by the pack.[5]

Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Draconic Evolution?

    2 parts

The quest book gives the mod its own chapter, "Draconic Evolution", in the Tech Mods group (chapter 23 of 31, 14 quests). A few more DE quests sit in other chapters, and they are listed after the main chain.[3]

The Draconic Evolution chapter, in order

    1. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" asks for Draconium Dust. The quest text says the main way to get it is exploring the End for meteorites containing draconium ore.[3]
    2. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" asks for a Draconium Core. The quest text calls it one of the main crafting components in the mod.[3]
    3. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" opens after the Draconium Core. It asks for the Fusion Crafting Core and a Draconium Fusion Crafting Injector, and its text introduces Fusion Crafting.[3]
    4. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" also opens after the Draconium Core. It asks for a Crystal Binder and an energy crystal from each of the Basic, Wyvern and Draconic tiers.[3]
    5. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" also opens after the Draconium Core and asks for a Wyvern Core.[3]
    6. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" comes after both the Wyvern Core and the Draconium injector quests. It asks for a Wyvern Fusion Crafting Injector, and the quest text says you need at least 8 Draconium Injectors around the Core.[3]
    7. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" follows the Wyvern Core. It asks for an Energy Core, an Energy Core Stabilizer and an Energy Pylon.[3]
    8. After the Wyvern injector you get two quests. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" asks for the Wyvern Capacitor, Draconic Capacitor and Chaotic Capacitor. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" asks for an Awakened Draconium Block, which its text says you get by infusing a Dragon's Heart into your Draconium.[3]
    9. Two more open after the Awakened Draconium Block. "Chaos Fragments" quest asks for a Tiny Chaos Fragment. Its text says you have to fly thousands of blocks out in the End to find the Chaos Dragon, and that a Chaos Island spawns every 10,000 blocks. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" asks for the Draconic Fusion Crafting Injector, and its text says you can then upgrade Wyvern gear to Draconic tier.[3]
    10. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" comes after Chaos Fragments and asks for the Chaotic Fusion Crafting Injector. Its text calls this the final tier of the infusion setup.[3]
    11. The chapter ends with two quests after the Chaotic injector. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" asks for the Draconic Reactor Core, Reactor Energy Injector, Flux Gate and Reactor Stabilizer. a quest in "Draconic Evolution" asks for the Injector Fusion Matrix, which its text says processes injection recipes in one block next to an AE2 Pattern Provider.[3]
Watch out: The Flux Gate quest is about the Draconic Reactor. Its text warns that the reactor can explode and that a meltdown will nuke everything within 500 blocks, so read the whole quest before you power one on.[3]

The Basic Energy I/O Crystal quest text also gives the transfer rate per connection for each crystal tier: up to 32,000 RF/t for Basic, 128,000 RF/t for Wyvern and 256,000 RF/t for Draconic.[3]

    DE quests in other chapters

    • Power Generation (group Resources & Logistics, chapter 10 of 31): a quest in "Power Generation" asks for the Generator and comes after the Draconium Dust quest. The quest text says it burns fuels to produce between 5 and 300 FE/t, with consumption modes you can configure.[8]
    • Useful Items & Tips (chapter 2 of 31): "Easy Disenchanting" quest asks for a Draconium Block and an Anvil. The quest text says you can separate enchants with the Anvil method: place the Draconium block, throw down the enchanted item plus an empty book for each enchant you want to remove, then drop an Anvil onto the pile.[4]
    • Gearing Up (group Exploration & Combat, chapter 14 of 31): a quest in "Gearing Up" asks for the Disenchanter and comes after the Draconium Core quest. Its text says the Disenchanter can strip enchantments off an item at the cost of experience and some durability damage, and that bookshelves around it can reduce the damage. Only part of this 94-quest chapter is shown in the sources here, so check the quest book for the rest.[9]
    • Pina Colada (group Main Questline, chapter 6 of 31): a quest in "Pina Colada" asks for the Chaotic Core. The quest text sends you to the End to slay an End Guardian and destroy its Chaos crystal. This quest is one of the prerequisites of a quest in "Pina Colada".[6]
    • Bounty Board (group Exploration & Combat, chapter 11 of 31): "Chaotic Core" quest also asks for the Chaotic Core. It has no description text.[10]

What changed in Draconic Evolution between versions?

    2 parts

Draconic Evolution has been in FTB Skies 2: Aero since 1.0.3 or earlier, and Aero 1.10.0 ships Draconic Evolution 3.1.4.633. The notes below come from the mod's own changelogs for builds 3.1.4.632 and 3.1.4.633. The sources here include no pack changelog entries for this mod.[2]

3.1.4.633 (the version in this pack)

This build merged a pull request with several fixes:[11]

    • Insta-kill damage no longer sometimes bugs out. When too many mods modify damage and death events (the changelog gives Apothic Attributes plus Relics as an example), dealing too much damage could leave an entity in a semi-dead state. Lowering the damage dealt prevents that.[11]
    • The missing Chaos Implosion death message was added.[11]
    • Energy Links no longer only take the minimum energy. The flow is now saved to the module, so it isn't reset every tick.[11]
    • Existing worlds no longer break. An earlier change to the Energy Link entity added a new codec that could stop a world from loading if a player already had an Energy Link without it. The codec is now optional.[11]

    3.1.4.632

    • Fixed the soul drop rate with water animals.[12]
