Useful Items & Tips
30 quests, with the items each asks for and where they come from in FTB Skies 2: Aero.
- Explorer's Compass
The Explorer's Compass can locate any structure in the pack! Type in the structure you are looking for at the top, then select it and click Search. The compass will then point in the direction of the nearest structure, and give you the distance in the top left of your screen.

- Wireless Redstone Control!
The Redstone Remote can be used to wirelessly control redstone devices like levers and buttons. Left-click on the device you want to control with the Remote to save the frequency, then right-click to toggle it on and off from any distance. Note: The chunk where the redstone is must be loaded and in the same dimension to work.
Asks for:Redstone Remote
- Cable Facades
Cable Facades (the mod) provides a one-size-fits-all solution to hiding all of your cables. To set up an empty Facade, place it in a crafting grid with the block you wish to change it to. This will "convert" the block, but can be reverted by placing the Facade back in a crafting grid. Once set up, simply place the Facade over your cables. The Facade Wrench can be used to toggle facade transparency by Sneak + Right-clicking it.
Asks for:Facade,
Facade Wrench
- Easy Villagers

- Temporal Pouch
Every second matters, and that's why you should shove them in the Temporal Pouch. This pouch stores time, as long as it is in your inventory. Who says you can't buy time?
Asks for:Temporal Pouch
- Framed Blocks
Framed Blocks allow you to create custom blocks and shapes that use the texture of almost any other block in the pack! To do this, place down a framed block, and then use the block with the desired texture on the framed block to copy the texture over. There are also some cool features for these blocks, like using Glowstone Dust on a framed block to make it glow!
Asks for:Framed Cube,
Framed Hammer,
Framed Wrench
- Locating Biomes
Irregular Implements introduces a small multiblock that allows you to locate any biome. First you must build a small antenna using a Biome Radar and some iron bars (see next page), then place a configured Biome Crystal inside the Radar. Particles will begin to show above the bars if you've built the structure correctly. You can easily configure a Biome Crystal by placing it inside a Stonecutter and selecting the biome you want to track. You may also bind the biome location to a Golden Compass by crafting the compass together with a Location Filter bound to an active Biome Radar structure. Example structure on the next page -> {image\:\ftb:textures/quests/irregular_implements/biome_radar.png width:200 height:200 align:center)

- Strike the Earth
If you're trying to draw lightning to yourself for whatever reasons, there are a few methods available. Note that items will need to be on the ground to transform. If there's a thunderstorm, a Lightning Rod will periodically get struck with lightning, affecting the area around it. The static charge from a FTB Pump can build up into a lightning strike if you're willing to take some damage, possibly a lot. If you can get your hands on a Lightning Scroll, casting that will work for transforming items and charging creepers. After some progression, if needed, this can be done more easily by crafting the scroll mentioned before, or making a Lighting Glyph. Once able to enchant, another option to force strikes is to hit entities or a lightning rod with a Channeling-enchanted Trident during a thunderstorm.
- No More Traders!
Get sick of these trader guys spawning and getting in your face? The solution could be to make a 'No Solicitors!' Sign!

- Elevators
Want an easy way to travel to different levels of your base? Make an Elevator! These can also copy the texture of another block by using that block directly on the Elevator.
- Placing Blocks In The Air
If you want to start a brand new sky island, the Angel Block is the solution. This block can be placed in any empty space, without the need for it to connect to the ground! You pass right through it though, so don't expect this block to save you from a fall.
Asks for:Angel Block
- Missing or Cut-Off Islands
While exploring the skies, you might rarely come across Archipelagos cut off at chunk borders. This is done intentionally as that chunk is one where an FTB Base would spawn, meaning that it automatically clears that entire chunk.

Simply use the item to summon a guide that drifts briefly in the direction of one before dispersing. TIP: Need some Gunpowder to make TNT?
