What is Gateways To Eternity?
Gateways To Eternity is part of the pack's mod list. The pack ships version 5.1.0, and it has been there since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the pack rather than a recent addition.[1]
The mod's item shows up right at the start of your journey. A quest in the "the_beginning" chapter, a quest in "?", has you obtain a Gate Pearl. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter, so you'll meet it early in your progression.[2]
Unverified The sources don't describe what the mod does in gameplay, how the Gate Pearl is obtained, or any pack-specific recipe or config changes, so none of that is covered here.
Unverified This mod is not on the ATM Star quest path, so there is no ATM Star progression to describe for it.
How do you get started with Gateways To Eternity?
3 parts
Everything in Gateways To Eternity starts with one item: the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway. So your first job is simply to get a pearl in your hands.[3]
The pack's quest book points you at it too. A quest in the The Beginning chapter, a quest in "?", has you obtain a Gate Pearl, and it unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter.[2]
Your first steps, in order
- Craft a Gate Pearl. In this pack many different recipes make one, and each recipe is its own kind of Gateway. Some good starting points are below.[4]
- Pick an open spot. The pearl only works if the new Gateway would not be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing.[3]
- Use the pearl on a block to summon the Gateway.[3]
- Rewards spawn from the Gateway as they are obtained.[3]
Pearl recipes to try first
These use the mod's own gate recipe type. The Emerald Grove and Slime recipes are the mod's own recipes, left as they are by the pack.[4]

The Enderman pearl is different: the pack changed it, so don't trust a recipe you remember from the mod's defaults or another pack.[4]

Further along
The pack also changed the Hellish Fortress and Overworldian Nights pearls, so check these recipes before you craft them.[4]

The pack adds more pearl recipes of its own: Fallen Kingdom, Fire and Ice, Life and Death, Priest Who Knew and Skulk. It has also changed the Apotheosis-based tiered pearl recipes: Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. You can look all of these up on their recipe pages.[4]
How does Gateways To Eternity work?
4 parts
Gateways To Eternity is built around one item: the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway. This section covers how a Gateway is opened, how it fails, and how the pack lets you get pearls.[3]
Opening a Gateway
Using a Gate Pearl on a block summons a Gateway at that spot. It only works if the new Gateway would not be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing.[3]
How an open Gateway fails
An open Gateway fails in a burst of lightning if any one of these happens:[3]
Rewards
Rewards spawn from the Gateway as they are obtained, so they appear during the fight rather than only at the end.[3]
Getting Gate Pearls in the pack
The pack has plenty of recipes that produce a Gate Pearl. The mod's own recipes use the gateways:gate_recipe type, while the Apotheosis and FTB ones are ordinary shaped crafting recipes.[4]
These mod recipes are untouched by the pack.[4]

How do you progress through Gateways To Eternity?
4 parts
In this pack, Gateways progression runs through one item: the Gate Pearl. Every gate has its own recipe that produces a Gate Pearl, so you move forward by crafting the pearl for the gate you want to take on.[4]
The quest book only touches this once. a quest in "?" sits in the "the_beginning" chapter, asks you to hand in a Gate Pearl, and unlocks after another quest. The task is just the pearl itself, so it doesn't ask for a particular gate's recipe.[2]
Recipes straight from the mod
These pearl recipes are untouched mod recipes in this pack. They use the mod's own gate recipe type rather than normal crafting.[4]

Apotheosis tiered gates
More pearl recipes live under the Apotheosis namespace and are named ascent, frontier, summit and pinnacle. The pack changed all of them. They are normal shaped crafting recipes and lean on Apotheosis and Apothic Enchanting materials in places.[4]

How does Gateways To Eternity work with other mods?
4 parts
In this pack, Gateways To Eternity connects to other mods through the Gate Pearl. The recipes in the sources that make it pull in items from a range of other mods, so getting gates going means gathering materials from across your progression.[4]
Apotheosis and Apothic Enchanting
The ascent, summit and pinnacle Gate Pearl recipes live under the Apotheosis namespace, and the pack has changed all of them. They use Apotheosis materials such as Gem Dust, apotheosis:rare_material, apotheosis:epic_material and apotheosis:mythic_material. The pinnacle version also asks for Apothic Enchanting items: Infused Dragon's Breath and Warden Tendril.[4]

Pack-added Gate Pearl recipes
The pack also adds its own Gate Pearl recipes: fallen_kingdom, fire_and_ice, life_and_death, priest_who_knew and skulk. They mix items from several mods, including Eye of Monstrous from Cataclysm, runes and books from Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks, cores and cloth from Reliquary, Empowered Void Crystal from Actually Additions and Celestigem from Just Dire Things. Vanilla items such as the Ender Eye and Totem Of Undying show up too.[4]

Ender IO
The overworldian_nights recipe is a gate recipe rather than a normal crafting recipe, and the pack has changed it. It brings in Grains of Infinity from Ender IO, together with basic vanilla items like Bone Meal, Rotten Flesh and Sand.[4]

Quests
Gate Pearls also show up in the quest book. In the the_beginning chapter, a quest in "?" has you obtain a Gate Pearl, and it comes after another quest in the questline.[2]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Gateways To Eternity?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Gateways To Eternity shows up in only one place in the pack's quest book: the "the_beginning" chapter. The mod has a single quest there, a quest in "?", and it has no title in the quest book.[5]
The task is a simple item check. You need to hand in a Gate Pearl.[5]
The quest comes after a quest in "?", so you need to finish that one first.[5]
Unverified The quest book data doesn't show any rewards for this quest, so they are unconfirmed. It also doesn't show how you get the Gate Pearl, what the quests around it ask for, or whether other chapters involve this mod.
