What is Gateways To Eternity?
Gateways To Eternity is included in the pack at version 5.1.0, and it has been there since an early release of the pack (1.2.0 or earlier). Its items and content live under the gateways namespace.[1]
The pack's quest book brings the mod up right at the start. In the "the_beginning" chapter there is an untitled quest, a quest in "?", whose task is to obtain a Gate Pearl. It unlocks after another quest in the same chapter, so you meet this mod during your first steps rather than deep into the late game.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Gateways To Eternity does in detail, how the Gate Pearl is obtained or used in this pack, or whether the pack changes any of its recipes or configs. They also don't place the mod on the ATM Star path. Check in game before relying on any of that.
How do you get started with Gateways To Eternity?
4 parts
Gateways To Eternity revolves around the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway, and rewards spawn from the Gateway as you obtain them. Getting started means making your first pearls and using them safely.[3]
Know the rules before you use one
A Gate Pearl only works if the new Gateway wouldn't be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. So don't try to stack your fights on top of each other.[3]
Your first Gate Pearl
The quest a quest in "?" in the the_beginning chapter asks you to get a Gate Pearl, so the pack's own quest book points you here early.[2]
This pack has many Gate Pearl recipes, and each one is its own Gateway. The Emerald Grove pearl below is the unchanged mod recipe and only needs two kinds of ingredient, which makes it a friendly place to start.[4]

Changed and pack-made pearls
The pack also changed the Hellish Fortress and Overworldian Nights recipes, so check these before you start gathering materials.[4]

The pack adds its own pearl recipes too, such as Fire and Ice. Some of these call for items from other mods, so they make more sense once you've explored further.[4]

The tiered pearl recipes (Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle) are all changed by the pack as well. Frontier is the one to look at first, and the later tiers need Apotheosis materials, so save those for when you have them.[4]

How does Gateways To Eternity work?
7 parts
Gateways To Eternity is built around the Gate Pearl. You use it on a block to summon a Gateway. The sources for this mod are thin, so this section sticks to what they confirm.[3]
Summoning a Gateway
A Gate Pearl summons a Gateway when you use it on a block. It can only be used when the new Gateway would not be too close to another Gateway, based on the current spacing. If a pearl refuses to work, try a spot further from any Gateway that is already open.[3]
How an open Gateway can fail
An open Gateway fails in a burst of lightning if any of these conditions is met:[3]
Rewards spawn from the Gateway as they are obtained.[3]
Getting Gate Pearls in this pack
In this pack, Gate Pearls come from many different recipes. Some are the mod's own Gateways recipes, some are Apotheosis-namespaced tiered recipes the pack has changed, and some are extra recipes the pack adds. Each one is shown below exactly as the pack defines it. The sources here do not say which Gateway each pearl summons.[4]

Mod recipes changed by the pack
These recipes use the Gateways recipe type, but the pack has changed them, so don't assume the mod's default ingredients apply.[4]

How do you progress through Gateways To Eternity?
4 parts
Progression with Gateways To Eternity in this pack revolves around the Gate Pearl. Every recipe in the sources for this mod makes a Gate Pearl, and each recipe has its own ingredients. Some are the mod's own recipes, some are mod recipes the pack changed, and some are recipes the pack added.[4]
The quest
The quest book has a quest for the mod in the "the_beginning" chapter: a quest in "?". It is untitled, its task is to obtain a Gate Pearl, and it comes after another quest. The sources show no other quests for the mod, so past this point the recipes below are your guide.[2]
The mod's gate recipes
The Slime and Emerald Grove pearls are plain mod recipes, so the pack leaves them as the mod made them.[4]

Tiered pearls
The tiered Gate Pearl recipes are Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle, and the pack changed every one of them. Frontier uses basic mob drops such as rotten flesh and spider eyes. Pinnacle asks for a apotheosis:mythic_material and a Sigil of Malice, among other things.[4]

Pack-added pearls
The pack also adds its own Gate Pearl recipes through KubeJS: Life and Death, Fire and Ice, Priest Who Knew, Fallen Kingdom and Skulk. They use ingredients from other mods in the pack, so you will need progress elsewhere before you can craft them.[4]

How does Gateways To Eternity work with other mods?
4 parts
The Gate Pearl is where Gateways To Eternity meets the rest of this pack. Every recipe that connects the mod to another mod produces a Gate Pearl, and the pack either changed or added each of them. So what you need here is not necessarily what the mod asks for on its own.[4]
Apotheosis and Apothic Enchanting
The tiered Gate Pearl recipes named Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle pull in items from Apotheosis, and the pack changed all of them. Pinnacle also needs items from Apothic Enchanting, such as Infused Dragon's Breath and Warden Tendril.[4]

Pack-added recipes
The pack also adds its own shaped recipes through KubeJS. Each one makes a Gate Pearl from items of other mods, so expect to gather from several mods at once.[4]
- Fallen Kingdom combines items from Cataclysm, Iron's Spellbooks and Reliquary, plus a vanilla Totem Of Undying.[4]
- Fire and Ice uses a vanilla Ender Eye with Frozen Core and Molten Core from Reliquary.[4]
- Life and Death uses a Nature Rune from Iron's Spellbooks together with a vanilla Eye of Ender and any skull.[4]
- Priest Who Knew uses Iron's Spellbooks items (Holy Rune, Netherward Tincture and Ruined Book) with a vanilla Eye of Ender.[4]
- Skulk combines Empowered Void Crystal from Actually Additions and Celestigem from Just Dire Things with any Nether star.[4]

Ender IO and the Overworldian Nights gate
The Overworldian Nights recipe is a gate recipe from the mod itself, and the pack changed it. It brings in Grains of Infinity from Ender IO alongside common vanilla items, so you need a source of that Ender IO item to make this Gate Pearl.[4]

Quest tie-in
Gate Pearls also show up in the quest book. In the the_beginning chapter, the quest a quest in "?" has an item task for a Gate Pearl.[2]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Gateways To Eternity?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Gateways To Eternity shows up in only one place in the pack's quest book: the "the_beginning" chapter. The mod has a single quest there, a quest in "?", and it has no title in the quest book.[5]
The task is a simple item check. You need to hand in a Gate Pearl.[5]
The quest comes after a quest in "?", so you need to finish that one first.[5]
Unverified The quest book data doesn't show any rewards for this quest, so they are unconfirmed. It also doesn't show how you get the Gate Pearl, what the quests around it ask for, or whether other chapters involve this mod.
