What is L_Ender's Cataclysm?
1 part
L_Ender's Cataclysm adds difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items. The idea is simple: you go in, defeat the bosses to prove yourself, and earn strong gear for it.[1]
This pack includes version 3.33 of the mod, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. If you enjoy tough fights and want powerful loot as the reward, this mod is for you.[1][2]
Where it shows up in the pack
The mod appears in the quest chapter "the_travelers_quest". Quest "Dip into the Leviathan's Fishbowl" quest has no title in the pack files. Its tasks are to find a structure, complete several kills, and hand in Abyssal Sacrifice.[3]
Unverified The sources don't say which structure or mobs the quest tasks refer to, how the quest fits into the pack's progression, or what it rewards. Check the quest in-game before you plan around it.
How do you get started with L_Ender's Cataclysm?
4 parts
Welcome to Cataclysm! This mod adds difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items, so the real goal is to get ready, find the structures, and earn the gear. The pack has also changed several of the mod's recipes, so the recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack versions.[1][4]
Step 1: Make the Belt of Beginner
The Belt of Beginner is one of the recipes the pack changed. Check the recipe below rather than trusting a mod default.[4]

Step 2: Go find the structures
The mod's advancements point you at its main locations. These are good targets to explore once you are prepared:[5]
Step 3: Prepare for the Abyssal Sacrifice
The pack changed the recipe for Abyssal Sacrifice, and there are two variants, both shown below. The second one is the Coral Chunk version. The item also shows up in "Dip into the Leviathan's Fishbowl" quest in the_travelers_quest chapter, which combines a structure task, kill tasks and an item task for the Abyssal Sacrifice.[3][4]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work?
4 parts
Cataclysm is built around difficult dungeons, challenging boss fights and powerful items, so don't expect machines, power networks or pipes here. This section covers the systems the sources do explain: how bosses behave in this pack, and how a few key items work.[1]
Boss behaviour in this pack
Bosses won't wander off forever. If a boss leaves the spot where it was summoned and has no target, it walks back to that location. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.ReturnHome]] is set to 20 in this pack, the same as the mod default, and setting it to 0 turns the return-home behaviour off.[6]
The pack did lower how fast bosses recover when they have no target. Each of these healing options is 20 here, down from the mod default of 25:[6]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantNatureHealing]] for the Ancient Remnant.[6]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianNatureHealing]] for the Ender Guardian.[6]
- Ignis.IgnisNatureHealing for Ignis.[6]
- Maledictus.MaledictusNatureHealing for Maledictus.[6]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityNatureHealing]] for the Netherite Monstrosity.[6]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanNatureHealing]] for the Leviathan.[6]
Block breaking and damage caps
Some bosses break blocks regardless of the mob griefing rule. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderguardianBlockBreaking]] and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantBlockBreaking]] are both true in this pack. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.EndergolemBlockBreaking]] is false.[6]
The Ender Guardian's block-breaking area is set by radius options, which are 15 on X, 2 on Y and 15 on Z, all unchanged from the mod defaults. They are [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianBlockBreaking X]], [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianBlockBreaking Y]] and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianBlockBreaking Z]].[6]
Several bosses also limit how much damage they take at once and ignore attacks from far away. The Ancient Remnant's damage cap is 21 and its long-distance immunity range is 14, set by [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantCap]] and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.Ancient Remnant's prevent attacks from far away Range]]. The Ender Guardian's damage cap is 22 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianDamageCap]]). The Ender Golem's long-distance immunity range is 6 ([[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.Endergolem's prevent attacks from far away Range]]). Stay close to these fights. All of these values match the mod defaults.[6]
The boss respawner options for the Ender Guardian, Harbinger, Monstrosity, Remnant and Scylla are all switched on in this pack. The [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Block.Cursed Tombstone Summon cooldown Minute]] option is 1 minute, which is the mod default.[6]
Weapon mechanics
The pack changed two weapon-related damage values. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Entity damage.Cursed Sandstorm Damage]] is 6 here (mod default 7.5), and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Entity damage.Phantom Arrow Damage]] is 5 here (mod default 8). The Phantom Arrow value is the player's Phantom Arrow damage.[6]
The Ancient Spear shoots a Sandstorm when you left click. Astrape shoots a Lightning Spear when you right click.[4][5]

How do you progress through L_Ender's Cataclysm?
4 parts
The pack's files confirm one quest that involves this mod, plus a set of recipes the pack has changed. This section covers those, because they are what the pack itself defines.[3][4]
The quest
In the the_travelers_quest chapter, the quest "Dip into the Leviathan's Fishbowl" quest involves this mod. It has no title in the quest file. It starts with a structure task, followed by kill tasks, then an item task asking for Abyssal Sacrifice, and it finishes with another kill task.[3]
Abyssal Sacrifice is a pack-changed recipe
Since the quest asks you to hand in Abyssal Sacrifice, you'll want to know how to make it. The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the base mod. There are two versions in the pack, and the recipe blocks below show both exactly.[4]

How does L_Ender's Cataclysm work with other mods?
1 part
In this pack, Cataclysm's link to other mods is a custom recipe that uses the Eye of Monstrous to make a Gate Pearl. The recipe is added by the pack itself, so it is not part of the mod's own defaults.[4]
Shaped (kubejs)
Recipe id: ftb:gateways/fallen_kingdom
A pack-added shaped recipe that combines the Cataclysm item with items from other mods.
Besides the Eye of Monstrous, the recipe uses the Blood Rune, the Totem Of Undying and the Crimson Cloth. It is a shaped recipe, so the layout matters. The recipe block above shows the exact arrangement.[4]
Quest connection
Cataclysm also appears in the quest book. The chapter "the_travelers_quest" has a quest, "Dip into the Leviathan's Fishbowl" quest, that combines structure and kill tasks with an item task for the Abyssal Sacrifice.[3]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use L_Ender's Cataclysm?
1 part
In this pack, the mod shows up in one quest chapter, "the_travelers_quest". Within it, a single quest is tied to the mod: "Dip into the Leviathan's Fishbowl" quest. It has no title in the pack files, so you'll find it by its ID.[3]
What the quest asks for
The quest has five tasks, listed in this order: a structure task, a kill task, another kill task, an item task for the Abyssal Sacrifice, and a final kill task.[3]
- Structure task.[3]
- Kill task.[3]
- Kill task.[3]
- Item task: submit the Abyssal Sacrifice.[3]
- Kill task.[3]
Unverified The pack files don't say which structure you need to find or which mobs you need to kill, so check the quest in-game for the exact targets. The files also don't confirm whether the tasks must be done in the listed order, or how this quest connects to other quests in the chapter.
Which L_Ender's Cataclysm config options matter?
4 parts
Cataclysm has a big config file, but this pack leaves almost all of it at the mod's defaults. Only a handful of values are different, and those are the ones worth knowing before you go boss hunting. Everything below lives in config/cataclysm.toml.[6]
Values this pack changed
The biggest change is boss self-healing. Each of these options controls how much a boss heals when it has no target. The mod default is 25, and this pack sets all of the following to 20, so these bosses recover a bit less when you back off.[6]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ancient Remnant.AncientRemnantNatureHealing]] is 20 here, down from 25.[6]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Guardian.EnderGuardianNatureHealing]] is 20 here, down from 25.[6]
- Ignis.IgnisNatureHealing is 20 here, down from 25.[6]
- Maledictus.MaledictusNatureHealing is 20 here, down from 25.[6]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Netherite Monstrosity.MonstrosityNatureHealing]] is 20 here, down from 25.[6]
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanNatureHealing]] is 20 here, down from 25.[6]
Scylla is the exception. Its [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Scylla.Scylla NatureHealing]] stays at the mod default of 25.[6]
The pack also lowered a pair of damage values. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Entity damage.Phantom Arrow Damage]], the player's Phantom Arrow, is 5 in this pack instead of the default 8. [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Entity damage.Cursed Sandstorm Damage]] is 6 instead of the default 7.5.[6]
Difficulty multipliers
Every health and damage multiplier I can see in the file is 1, the same as the mod default. That covers Ignis.IgnisHealthMultiplier, Scylla.ScyllaHealthMultiplier and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanDamageMultiplier]], along with the other bosses and mobs. The pack doesn't make bosses beefier or weaker, apart from the healing tweaks above.[6]
Block breaking
Many bosses have a block-breaking option that ignores the mobGriefing rule. It is true for the Ancient Remnant, Ender Guardian, Ignis, Maledictus, Netherite Monstrosity and Leviathan. For example, see Ignis.IgnisBlockBreaking and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#The Leviathan.LeviathanBlockBreaking]].[6]
The Ender Golem and the Kobolediator are different: [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Ender Golem.EndergolemBlockBreaking]] and Kobolediator.KobolediatorBlockBreaking are both false.[6]
Quality-of-life settings
- [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Common settings.ReturnHome]] is 20, the mod default. If a boss strays from where it was summoned and has no target, it returns there. Setting it to 0 turns the return off.[6]
- Boss music is on through [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Music.BossMusic(on/off)]], and [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#bosses Music.BossMusicVolume]] is 1. The Ender Guardian, Ignis and Leviathan also use separate music per phase.[6]
- Etc.ScreenShake(on/off) is on. The forced viewpoint changes when you are hit by a grab attack are also on, via Etc.setFirstPerson(on/off) and Etc.setThirdPerson(on/off).[6]
- Etc.shadersCompat is false. The file describes it as turning off the custom rendering.[6]
- The respawner options for the Ender Guardian, Harbinger, Monstrosity, Remnant and Scylla are all true. See [[config:config/cataclysm.toml#Boss Respawner.ScyllaRespawner]] for one example.[6]
What changed in L_Ender's Cataclysm between versions?
2 parts
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships L_Ender's Cataclysm 3.33. The mod was already in the pack by 1.0.1 or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first, so you can see what has changed on the way to the version you're playing.[2]
Recent releases
- 3.33: projectiles were optimized, and the uk_ua translation was updated.[7]
- 3.32: the Flow and Bolt armor trims were fixed.[8]
- 3.27: fixes for the Deepling Brute spawn weight, the Monstrosity helm not being unbreakable, the lava bomb magazine base config setting, and Ignis' Abyss fireball.[9]
- 3.24: the Tidal Claw was fixed, and the curse of desert change was rolled back.[10]
- 3.16: the Tidal Claw's chain code was changed, and the water spear no longer fails to despawn.[11]
- 3.15: fixes for the Harbinger jet and the Boss Respawner.[12]
Earlier changes worth knowing
- 3.09: Scylla can now change the weather when she changes phase. This release also added a Boss Respawner config and an earthquake particle, and rolled back the Maledictus and Cindaria renderer change.[13]
- 3.08: the Cindaria and Maledictus renderer was changed for shader compatibility. Altars no longer spawn many bosses at once, and the Goddess Statue rendering and Ceraunus' death message were fixed.[14]
- 3.07: the dragon immune tag was fixed, and the stereo sound was changed to mono.[15]
- 3.05: new blocks and many block recipes were added. Scylla's chain anchor smash cooldown was nerfed, Urchinkin spawning was decreased, and Hippocamtus and Cindaria spawning was increased. Wave knockback now scales with the target's hitbox size, using the player's size as the baseline, and player knockback stays unchanged.[16]
- 3.04: more blocks were added, and the pt_br translation was updated.[17]
Unverified Which of these mod versions shipped in each individual pack release between 1.0.1 and 1.22.0 is not confirmed by the sources.
