What is Silent's Gems?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Silent's Gems is the mod for colorful gemstones and building blocks. It adds 16 gemstones, and you can craft them into gem blocks, bricks, small bricks, polished, chiseled and smooth gem stones, glass and lamps. The pack includes version 5.1.3.[1][2]
If you love building, this one is for you. It gives you a lot of new colors to work with, and the gems can also become tools and armor when Silent Gear is installed. Silent Gear is what you need for gem tools and armor, and Silent Lib is required for the mod itself.[1]
Where the gems come from
The gems are spread across the three vanilla dimensions and overlap a bit, so some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the overworld. The mod lets you configure which gems generate in which dimension and how often, and you can even disable specific gems. I can't confirm from the sources whether the pack changes any of those defaults.[1]
Black Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and less often than other gems, so you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so you'll need to dig around. Both are strong in all stats but much harder to find.[1]
Gem roles
If you use the gems for Silent Gear tools and armor, each gem fits a role. Gems are usually stronger in their role's stats, and every gem still has unique traits.[1]
- Durability: Ruby and Carnelian. They are good for repairs and area-of-effect harvest tools like the hammer and excavator.[1]
- Speed: Topaz, Citrine and Heliodor. They are good for harvest tools.[1]
- Damage: Peridot, Moldavite and Rose Quartz. They are good for weapons like swords and bows.[1]
- Armor: Sapphire, Iolite and Ammolite.[1]
- All-Rounder: Turquoise, Kyanite, Alexandrite and Black/White Diamond. They are above average in most stats.[1]
Handy extras
- Gem Bag: collects and stores gems as you mine them, which frees up your inventory. It doesn't apply to ores.[1]
- Glowrose: a light-emitting flower that spawns naturally. Its light is enough to prevent mob spawns just two blocks away (configurable), and potted glowroses give off much more light than freestanding ones.[1]
- Flower Basket: works like the Gem Bag, but collects flowers you mine.[1]
- Summon Kitty and Summon Puppy: spawn a tamed cat or dog, which you can name in an anvil.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't show where Silent's Gems fits in the pack's progression, and no quests involving it were found. Whether Silent Gear is also in the pack, which you need for gem tools and armor, is not confirmed here either.
How do you get started with Silent's Gems?
5 parts
Silent's Gems adds 16 colorful gemstones and a pile of building blocks you can make from them. Everything starts with the gems themselves, so your first job is to go mining.[1]
Step one: find some gems
The mod's description says the 16 gems are spread across the three vanilla dimensions and overlap a bit, so some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the overworld. Black diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and less often than other gems, so you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so you will need to dig around for them.[1]
The same description says a hammer and a prospector hammer from Silent Gear make finding the rare diamonds much easier. It also says gem generation can be configured per gem, dimension and frequency.[1]
Step two: compact your gems into blocks
Once you have a stack of gems, turn them into gem blocks for compact storage. Alexandrite Block is the example here, and the same pattern exists for the other gems, such as Carnelian Block. A separate recipe turns a block back into gems.[3]
Crafting Shaped

Step three: build with glass and bricks
Next, make some decorative blocks so your gems get used for building right away. Alexandrite Glass and Alexandrite Bricks both have their own in-pack recipes, and every gem has matching versions.[1][3]

Then light things up with lamps
Gem lamps come next. The Alexandrite Lamp has an inverted variant, Alexandrite Lamp Inverted On, which you make from the finished lamp.[3]

Finally, work toward teleporters
The big goal among these recipes is the gem teleporter, such as the Alexandrite Teleporter. The first recipe below compacts Chaos Essence into Block of Chaos Essence, and the teleporter recipe after it shows exactly what goes in. There is also a redstone version, the Alexandrite Redstone Teleporter, made from the base teleporter.[3]

How does Silent's Gems work?
7 parts
Here's the honest picture first: the sources for this pack don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation for Silent's Gems. It's a gemstone and building-block mod, so this section covers the systems the sources do explain: gem world generation, the collecting bags, glowroses, lamps and teleporters.[1]
Gems and where they come from
The mod adds 16 gemstones, split across the three vanilla dimensions with some overlap. Some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the overworld. There is also a gem ore block that matches all three dimensions.[1]
The two diamond variants are the rare ones. Black diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether, less often than other gems, and you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so expect to dig around for them. A hammer and prospector hammer from Silent Gear make the search much easier.[1]
Unverified The mod page says gem generation can be configured: which dimension each gem appears in, how often, and whether it generates at all. The sources here do not show any config for this mod in the pack, so the actual spawn settings in this pack are unverified. Don't assume the mod defaults apply.
Roles and Silent Gear
Silent Gear is optional, but you need it for gem tools and armor. With it installed, each gem fits a role that decides which stats it is strongest in, and every gem also has unique traits.[1]
- Durability: Ruby and Carnelian. Good for repairs and area-harvest tools like the hammer and excavator.[1]
- Speed: Topaz, Citrine and Heliodor. Good for harvest tools.[1]
- Damage: Peridot, Moldavite and Rose Quartz. Good for weapons.[1]
- Armor: Sapphire, Iolite and Ammolite.[1]
- All-rounder: Turquoise, Kyanite, Alexandrite and the Black and White Diamonds.[1]
Some trait descriptions from the mod's language file: Hasty increases mining speed, Power increases attack damage, Leaping gives jump boost and slow falling, Step Up increases step height, and Cloaking grants invisibility at the cost of hunger.[4]
Gem Bag and Flower Basket
The Gem Bag collects and stores gems as you mine them, which frees up your inventory. It doesn't pick up ores. The Flower Basket works the same way, but collects flowers whenever you mine them.[1]
Glowroses
Glowroses are light-emitting flowers that spawn naturally in the world. Their light is enough to stop mob spawns just two blocks away, and the mod page says that distance is configurable. Plant one in a vanilla flower pot and it gives off much more light than a freestanding one.[1]
Sparkling bone meal grows glowroses when used on grass.[4]
Gem blocks, bricks, glass and lamps
Each gem has a matching set of building blocks. In the recipes shown for Alexandrite, Ammolite, Aquamarine, Black Diamond and Carnelian, the pattern is the same: a gem block, bricks, glass and a lamp. You can also turn a gem block back into gems. Alexandrite is the example below.[3]

How do you progress through Silent's Gems?
4 parts
Here's the honest picture for this pack: the only thing I can confirm about Silent's Gems is its crafting recipes, so this section follows the gems themselves rather than a quest line. The pack's recipes turn each raw gem into storage blocks, bricks, glass, lamps and teleporters.[3]
The gems I can see recipes for are Alexandrite, Ammolite, Aquamarine, Black Diamond, Carnelian, Citrine, Garnet, Heliodor, Iolite, Kyanite, Moldavite and Opal. Alexandrite through moldavite each have block, bricks, glass, lamp and teleporter recipes, and opal has block, bricks and glass recipes in the sources I have.[3]
Step 1: Gem blocks and decorative pieces
Every gem can be packed into a block and unpacked again, so you can store them compactly. Past that, the gems feed decorative blocks such as bricks, glass and lamps. I'll use garnet as the example, but the other gems follow the same pattern.[3]
This recipe unpacks a garnet block back into gems.

Each lamp also has an inverted version with its own recipe.[3]
Step 2: Chaos Essence and teleporters
The teleporters are the most involved gem recipes I can see. They use a Block of Chaos Essence, which is made by compacting Chaos Essence. Each gem has its own teleporter, plus a redstone version made from the finished teleporter.[3]

Quests
Unverified The sources here show no quests involving Silent's Gems, and the mod does not appear on the ATM Star quest path, so I can't point you to a quest-guided progression for it. The gem-to-block-to-teleporter path above is what the recipes confirm.
How does Silent's Gems work with other mods?
3 parts
Silent's Gems connects to other mods in this pack through three kinds of recipes: Create crushing, Productive Metalworks casting, and silver processing that ends in a Silver Ingot from another mod. The pack changed every one of these recipes from its default.[3]
Create: crushing gem ores
Crushing a Silent's Gems ore with Create gives you the gem, a Nugget of Experience, and a byproduct block. Which byproduct you get depends on the ore.[3]
- Netherrack comes out of Alexandrite Ore, Black Diamond Ore, Carnelian Ore, Citrine Ore, Iolite Ore, Moldavite Ore and Turquoise Ore.[3]
- End stone comes out of Ammolite Ore, Kyanite Ore and Rose Quartz Ore.[3]
- Topaz Ore gives cobblestone instead.[3]
Crushing (create)
Recipe id: create:crushing/compat/silentgems/topaz_ore
Example: crushing topaz ore gives a Nugget of Experience, cobblestone and a topaz.
Productive Metalworks: casting gems
Productive Metalworks can cast Silent's Gems gems from molten fluid. Each recipe uses a Gem Cast together with any fluid in the matching molten tag for that gem, for example the molten alexandrite tag for alexandrite.[3]
Casting recipes exist for Alexandrite, Ammolite, Black Diamond, Carnelian, Citrine, Heliodor, Iolite, Kyanite, Moldavite, Rose Quartz, Topaz, Turquoise and White Diamond.[3]
Item Casting (productivemetalworks)
Gem Cast

Silver
Smelting or blasting Raw Silver gives you Silver Ingot. Crafting a Block of Silver back down also gives that same Silver Ingot.[3]

What changed in Silent's Gems between versions?
Silent's Gems has only had a few version bumps in All the Mods 10, and the pack changelogs only record which version of the mod was swapped in. Here is the timeline.[5][6][7][8]
- All the Mods 10 3.0: Silent's Gems 5.0.3 was added to the pack.[8]
- All the Mods 10 4.0: updated from 5.0.3 to 5.1.0.[7]
- All the Mods 10 4.1: updated from 5.1.0 to 5.1.1.[6]
- All the Mods 10 4.5: updated from 5.1.1 to 5.1.2.[5]
All the Mods 10 4.10 still ships Silent's Gems 5.1.2, in the file silentgems-1.21.1-neoforge-5.1.2.jar. So if you're on 4.10, you're on the same version the mod has had since 4.5.[5][9]
Unverified What actually changed inside Silent's Gems in each of these updates (new items, balance changes, fixes) is unverified. The pack changelogs only list the version numbers, and there are no stored changelogs for the shipped jars.
