Silent's Gems is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 5.1.3. Adds many colorful gemstones and building blocks. Compatible with Silent Gear. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Silent's Gems?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Silent's Gems is the mod for colorful gemstones and building blocks. It adds 16 gemstones, and you can craft them into gem blocks, bricks, small bricks, polished, chiseled and smooth gem stones, glass and lamps. The pack includes version 5.1.3.[1][2]

If you love building, this one is for you. It gives you a lot of new colors to work with, and the gems can also become tools and armor when Silent Gear is installed. Silent Gear is what you need for gem tools and armor, and Silent Lib is required for the mod itself.[1]

Where the gems come from

The gems are spread across the three vanilla dimensions and overlap a bit, so some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the overworld. The mod lets you configure which gems generate in which dimension and how often, and you can even disable specific gems. I can't confirm from the sources whether the pack changes any of those defaults.[1]

Black Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and less often than other gems, so you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so you'll need to dig around. Both are strong in all stats but much harder to find.[1]

Gem roles

If you use the gems for Silent Gear tools and armor, each gem fits a role. Gems are usually stronger in their role's stats, and every gem still has unique traits.[1]

  • Durability: Ruby and Carnelian. They are good for repairs and area-of-effect harvest tools like the hammer and excavator.[1]
  • Speed: Topaz, Citrine and Heliodor. They are good for harvest tools.[1]
  • Damage: Peridot, Moldavite and Rose Quartz. They are good for weapons like swords and bows.[1]
  • Armor: Sapphire, Iolite and Ammolite.[1]
  • All-Rounder: Turquoise, Kyanite, Alexandrite and Black/White Diamond. They are above average in most stats.[1]

Handy extras

  • Gem Bag: collects and stores gems as you mine them, which frees up your inventory. It doesn't apply to ores.[1]
  • Glowrose: a light-emitting flower that spawns naturally. Its light is enough to prevent mob spawns just two blocks away (configurable), and potted glowroses give off much more light than freestanding ones.[1]
  • Flower Basket: works like the Gem Bag, but collects flowers you mine.[1]
  • Summon Kitty and Summon Puppy: spawn a tamed cat or dog, which you can name in an anvil.[1]
Tip: A hammer and prospector hammer from Silent Gear make hunting for the rarer diamond variants much easier.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't show where Silent's Gems fits in the pack's progression, and no quests involving it were found. Whether Silent Gear is also in the pack, which you need for gem tools and armor, is not confirmed here either.

How do you get started with Silent's Gems?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Silent's Gems adds 16 gemstones and a big set of colorful building blocks made from them. Silent Lib is required for the mod to run. Silent Gear is only needed if you want gem tools and armor, so this section sticks to the gems and blocks.[1]

First, find some gems

Everything starts with mining gem ore. The 16 gems are split across the three vanilla dimensions, and some Nether and End gems can occasionally show up in the Overworld. The mod page says the generation can be configured, but the page describes the mod's own behavior and does not tell you what this pack uses.[1]

The two diamond variants are the hard ones. Black Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and less often than other gems, so you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so you will need to dig around. A hammer and a prospector hammer from Silent Gear make the hunt much easier.[1]

Gem Bags collect gems as you mine them (not the ores themselves), which frees up your inventory for more mining.[1]

Next, make your first building blocks

Once you have a few gems, compress them into blocks for storage and building. Alexandrite is the example here, and every other gem I checked in the recipe list follows the same pattern. Blocks can be turned back into gems, so nothing is locked in.[3]

Glass and lamps are the next quick wins. Each gem has its own glass recipe and lamp recipe, and each lamp has an inverted version too.[3]

For more variety, each gem also has bricks, small bricks, tiles and a chiseled version, all crafted from the gem plus a vanilla block.[3]

Then, light your base with glowroses

Glowroses are light-emitting flowers that spawn naturally in the world. According to the mod's description, their light is enough to prevent mob spawns just two blocks away, and that distance is configurable. Planting one in a vanilla flower pot gives much more light than a freestanding one. Sparkling Bone Meal grows glowroses when used on grass.[1][4]

Later, aim for teleporters

Each gem has a teleporter recipe that uses a Block of Chaos Essence, so treat teleporters as a later goal. You can compress Chaos Essence into that block with the first recipe below, and the second shows an Alexandrite teleporter.[3]

How does Silent's Gems work?

6 parts

Here's the honest picture, because it shapes how you should read this section: Silent's Gems is mostly a gem, building-block and utility mod. The sources I have don't describe machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling for it, so everything below covers what they do explain: gem generation, how gems are processed in this pack, teleporters, lamps and the collection bags.[1]

Gem generation

The mod adds 16 gemstones, split across the Overworld, the Nether and the End with some overlap. Some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the Overworld. The mod's own description says generation can be configured: which dimension a gem appears in, how often, or whether it generates at all.[1]

Unverified The actual gem generation settings this pack uses live in the mod's config, and the sources here do not show them, so the values and frequencies in this pack are unverified.

Black Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and are rarer than other gems, so you'll find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End. A hammer and a prospector hammer from Silent Gear make finding them much easier.[1]

Turning ore into gems in this pack

The mod's own route is blasting: anything in the alexandrite ore tag can be blasted into Alexandrite. The pack also changes the Create crushing recipes for this mod's ores. Using Alexandrite Ore as the example, crushing two of them gives a Nugget of Experience, cobblestone and 3 gems. The recipe dump counts 84 Create crushing recipes that take this mod's ores.[5]

Productive Metalworks casting is changed by the pack too. Casting a gem needs a Gem Cast and 100 molten alexandrite, and a whole Alexandrite Block needs 900.[5]

Teleporters

The recipe dump shows teleporter blocks for Alexandrite and Ammolite, and each crafting recipe makes 2 at a time. The Alexandrite one is Alexandrite Teleporter. The recipe uses a Block of Chaos Essence, which is Block of Chaos Essence.[5][6]

A redstone variant is made by combining a teleporter with redstone dust, for example Alexandrite Redstone Teleporter. The mod's language file also lists a Teleporter Linker item and a Teleporter Anchor block. The sources don't explain how linking, range or the anchor work, so I won't guess.[5][6]

Lamps and building blocks

Gems craft into lamps, such as Alexandrite Lamp. Combining a lamp with a redstone torch gives its inverted version, for example Alexandrite Lamp Inverted On. Gems also craft into bricks, small bricks and glass, each recipe making 12. The mod page also lists polished, chiseled and smooth gem stones.[1][5]

Gem Bag, Flower Basket and Glowroses

  • The Gem Bag collects and stores gems as you mine them, which frees up inventory space. It doesn't collect ores.[1]
  • The Flower Basket works the same way, but for flowers you mine.[1]
  • Glowroses are light-emitting flowers that spawn naturally. Their light stops mob spawns just two blocks away, and the mod says this is configurable. Planted in a vanilla flower pot, they give much more light than freestanding ones.[1]
  • Sparkling Bone Meal grows glowroses when used on grass.[6]

Food

The mod's stews are cooked by smelting: Uncooked Fishy Stew becomes Fishy Stew, and Uncooked Meaty Stew becomes Meaty Stew. A single Sugar Cookie craft makes 8 cookies.[5]

How do you progress through Silent's Gems?

5 parts

Silent's Gems works as a gem-processing mod in this pack: you find a gem, process it, then turn it into blocks, glass, lamps and teleporters. The gems that show up in the recipes are Alexandrite, Ammolite, Aquamarine, Black Diamond and Carnelian. The recipe counts also include more gem types, such as citrine.[5]

Unverified The sources here do not show a tier ladder for this mod or any quest chapter that covers it, so there is no confirmed order beyond what the recipes below show.

Getting the gems

Each gem has an ore, for example Alexandrite Ore and Carnelian Ore. The pack changed the Create crushing recipes for these ores: 2 ore give you 3 gems, plus a Nugget of Experience and cobblestone.[5]

Crushing (create)

Recipe id: create:crushing/compat/silentgems/alexandrite_ore

The pack changed this crushing recipe, and the other gem ores have matching crushing recipes.

Without Create, you can also blast the ores into gems. Blasting recipes exist for all five gems listed above.[5]

Productive Metalworks can cast gems from their molten form too. The pack changed these recipes: a Gem Cast plus 100 units of the molten gem makes one gem, and 900 units cast a whole storage block.[5]

Storage blocks

Each gem packs into a block, such as Alexandrite Block, and the block unpacks back into 9 gems.[5]

Building blocks and lighting

Alexandrite and ammolite each have bricks, small bricks and tiles, and every craft makes 12 of them. Both also have glass (12 per craft) and a lamp. Aquamarine has glass as well. All five gems listed above have an inverted lamp recipe, which turns the lamp into its inverted-on version with a redstone torch.[5]

The mod also adds a few foods. Uncooked Fishy Stew smelts into Fishy Stew, and Uncooked Meaty Stew smelts into Meaty Stew. A Sugar Cookie craft makes 8 cookies.[5]

How does Silent's Gems work with other mods?

3 parts

In this pack, Silent's Gems connects to other mods through Create crushing recipes for the gem ores and Productive Metalworks casting recipes for the gems themselves.[5]

Create: crushing gem ores

The recipe dump lists Create crushing recipes for the Silent's Gems ores, and the pack has changed them. Crushing an ore gives you its gem, a Nugget of Experience and a stone-type block. The recipe below shows one example.[5]

The leftover block depends on which variant of the ore you crush. Regular ores give Cobblestone, and deepslate ores such as Deepslate Ruby Ore give Cobbled Deepslate. Nether ores such as Nether Ruby Ore give Netherrack, and End ores such as End Ruby Ore give End Stone.[5]

Crushing (create)

Recipe id: create:crushing/compat/silentgems/ruby_ore

Crushing Ruby Ore to get Ruby. The other ores follow the same pattern.

Tip: Crushing gives you a Nugget of Experience on top of the gem, so every crushed gem ore pays out a bit of extra experience.[5]

Productive Metalworks: casting gems

Productive Metalworks can cast Silent's Gems gems. You use a Gem Cast together with the matching molten gem fluid, and the pack has changed these recipes. The dump shows this for Alexandrite, Ammolite, Aquamarine, Black Diamond and Carnelian.[5]

Silent Gear

The mod's own project page says it has built-in support for Silent Gear, with no additional data packs required. Silent Gear is what you need if you want tools or armor made from these gems. The page also recommends a hammer and prospector hammer from Silent Gear for finding the rarer Black and White Diamonds.[1]

What changed in Silent's Gems between versions?

3 parts

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Silent's Gems 5.1.3, and the mod has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs for the recent releases. These are the mod's changes, and no pack changelog entries for Silent's Gems were available.[7]

5.1.3 (2026-01-23)

This is the version you have in the pack. It is mostly about coffee drops and translations.[7][8]

  • Added a config option to disable coffee drops. The coffee_producers tag still exists as well.[8]
  • Added a config option to change the delay between coffee drops. The mod's changelog says it defaults to 10 minutes.[8]
  • Glowroses can now be composted.[8]
  • Added Japanese and Ukrainian localizations, and updated the Portuguese one.[8]

5.1.2.1 (2025-09-07)

A small fix release. It restored missing recipes for the new building blocks, and added missing tags for chaos essence blocks and silver blocks.[9]

5.1.2 (2025-07-13)

This was the big content update. It requires Silent Gear 4.0.25 or higher.[9]

  • Added five new gems: garnet, aquamarine, tanzanite, opal, and pearl.[9]
  • Added new traits.[9]
  • Added reinforced gold and silver rods.[9]
  • Fixed redstone teleporters so they no longer move entities in the c:teleporting_not_supported tag. They also won't move entities across dimensions if the entity normally doesn't allow it.[9]
