What is PneumaticCraft: Repressurized?

2 parts

PneumaticCraft: Repressurized is all about doing cool stuff with compressed air. It's an industrial-themed tech mod with its own power system, an original take on automation, and a seriously powerful armor set.[1]

Pressure is your power here. Compressors squeeze air to build up pressure, and they're the mod's power generators. Pressure Tubes carry that air around your base, and many of the mod's machines need pressure to run.[2][3][4]

What you can do with it

Where it fits in ATM10

All the Mods 10 4.5 ships PneumaticCraft: Repressurized 8.2.13. The mod has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[14]

You can start early, because all you need is iron and stone. Blow up some iron to get Compressed Iron, then make Pressure Tubes and Reinforced Stone and build a Pressure Chamber. Compressed Iron Armor is an early-game set that's slightly better than iron.[15][16]

The pack's pneumaticcraft quest chapter follows the same path. It opens with Compressed Iron Ingot in a quest in "?", then branches out into Pressure Tube, Reinforced Stone, the Air Compressor and the Charging Station. From there it moves on to the Pressure Chamber, crude oil and the Refinery.[11]

Tip: The in-game manual unlocks new sections as you earn this mod's advancements. If you're not sure what to build next, check its advancements page.[15]

Unverified The sources don't show whether anything from this mod is needed on the ATM Star path.

How do you get started with PneumaticCraft: Repressurized?

7 parts

PneumaticCraft runs on compressed air. Compressors are its power generators, and Pressure Tubes move that air around to your machines. The mod doesn't add any ores, so everything starts with plain iron.[2][3][17]

What to gather

Grab some iron and some stone before you start. You'll want around a stack of each, and a bit less iron is fine.[15]

Step 1: Compressed Iron

The Compressed Iron Ingot shows up in recipes all over the mod. It's also the very first quest in the pack's PneumaticCraft chapter: a quest in "?". To make it, throw your iron ingots on the ground and set off an explosion nearby. TNT does the job, but any explosion works. Yes, really![11][15][17]

Explosion Crafting (pneumaticcraft)

  • any iron ingot

Recipe id: pneumaticcraft:explosion_crafting/compressed_iron_ingot

Drop the iron on the ground and blow it up.

Watch out: Step back before the boom. The explosion also destroys around 20% of your ingots. Later on, a Pressure Chamber can make Compressed Iron without that loss. You need Compressed Iron to build the chamber, though, so a little early loss can't be avoided.[17]

Step 2: Pressure Tubes and Reinforced Stone

Next, make some Pressure Tube and some Reinforced Stone. Both open up in the quest book once you have Compressed Iron, as a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".[11][15]

Step 3: Your first Air Compressor

The Air Compressor is where your air comes from. Its quest, a quest in "?", unlocks after the Pressure Tube quest. It burns any solid fuel that works in a Furnace. Fuel buckets won't work in it; liquid fuels need a Liquid Compressor instead.[11][18]

Step 4: Charging Station

The Charging Station charges and discharges air-powered items such as Drones and Pneumatic Wrenches. It's also where you manage upgrades in items that accept them. Its quest, a quest in "?", needs both the Pressure Tube and Reinforced Stone quests. It then branches out to tools like the Pneumatic Wrench and the Manometer.[11][18]

Step 5: Aim for the Pressure Chamber

The mod's own Getting Started guide ends with building a Pressure Chamber, so that's your first big goal. In this pack, the quest for it is a quest in "?". It asks for a Pressure Chamber Wall, a Pressure Chamber Valve and a Pressure Chamber Interface. It unlocks after the Reinforced Stone quest and a Security Upgrade quest, a quest in "?", which itself follows the Air Compressor.[11][15]

Optional: Compressed Iron Armor

If you have spare ingots, Compressed Iron Armor is a nice early upgrade. It has slightly higher toughness and durability than Iron Armor, plus partial knockback resistance. You can repair it in an Anvil with Compressed Iron Ingots. The full set is quest a quest in "?".[11][16]

Tip: New sections of the in-game guide unlock as you earn the mod's Advancements. Check the Advancements page for hints on what to build next, and you'll pick up a bit of Experience along the way.[15]
Tip: If you're running Mystical Agriculture farms later, this pack also has a recipe that turns compressed iron essence into Compressed Iron Ingots. That route skips explosions entirely.[19]

How does PneumaticCraft: Repressurized work?

9 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

PneumaticCraft runs on compressed air instead of a normal energy system. Compressors make the air, Pressure Tubes carry it, and machines and tools spend it. On top of that you get a heat system, an assembly line for advanced components, and drones and logistics for automation. Here's how all of it fits together.[2][3][7][10][20][21][22]

Pressure, air and volume

Every pressurizable machine and tool has a volume, measured in mL. That's how much air it holds at standard atmospheric pressure, which the mod calls 0 bar. Pressure is worked out as P = (A / V) - 1, where A is the air stored and V is the volume. So a machine with a volume of 5,000 mL holding 20,000 mL of air sits at 3 bar.[20]

The bar values you see are gauge pressure, meaning pressure above normal atmosphere. 0 bar is unpressurized air and -1 bar is a vacuum.[23]

This is the key idea to get your head around. Many machines need a minimum pressure before they'll run, but what their operations actually consume is air, not pressure. Pressure is just the result of stored air and volume. Most machines accept Volume Upgrades, which raise the volume so each use of air causes a smaller pressure drop.[20]

Air flows from higher-pressure blocks to lower-pressure blocks and always tries to balance out. If you connect a small machine to something with a big air capacity, like a Pressure Chamber, pressure will build up in the small machine.[20]

Watch out: If you leave a tube or machine unconnected, you get a giant air leak. You'll hear it hissing and see particles streaming out. Push too much pressure into a machine and it explodes. The danger zone is the red area on the pressure gauge in the GUI, but the exact point where a machine blows isn't predictable, so don't flirt with it.[20]

Pressure tiers

  • Tier one machines can nominally resist 5 bar.[23]
  • Tier 1.5 machines can resist up to 10 bar. This optional tier was added in the MC 1.18 release. It mainly unlocks charging tools to 10 bar and getting a Diamond Drill Bit, which allows 3x3 block breaking.[23]
  • Tier two machines can resist up to 20 bar.[23]
  • The Advanced Pressure Tube is the strongest tube, with a max safe pressure of 20 bar. It can be camouflaged and can take Tube Modules for extra functionality.[22]

Making air: compressors

Compressors are the power generators of the mod. You have several options, depending on what fuel or energy you have available.[2][20]

  • The Air Compressor burns any solid fuel that works in a Furnace. Fuel buckets won't work in it, so use a Liquid Compressor for liquid fuels.[22]
  • The Advanced Air Compressor is the tier two version. It burns the same fuels but generates 50mL/tick and produces heat. The hotter it gets, the lower its efficiency. On the temperature gauge, the bottom arrow shows where efficiency starts to drop and the top arrow marks zero efficiency. It won't explode from high temperature.[22]
  • The Advanced Liquid Compressor also generates 50mL/tick and also loses efficiency as it heats up. Crude Oil can be refined into high-quality fuels for Liquid Compressors.[22][24]
  • The Flux Compressor turns Forge Energy into air at a base efficiency of 40%, so 100 FE makes 40 mL. Speed Upgrades reduce its efficiency slightly, and it generates heat you need to get rid of.[22]
  • The Electrostatic Compressor produces 200,000 mL of air instantly when it's hit by lightning. You raise the odds of a strike with a grid of Iron Bars or Lightning Rods connected to it.[22]

Tip: For the Electrostatic Compressor, the grid counts out to 5 blocks horizontally and 5 blocks vertically, up to a maximum of 250 blocks per grid. You can add a column of up to 10 Iron Bars or Lightning Rods directly above it. Put a column of grid blocks below it to ground excess energy and avoid explosions; the Electrostatic Info GUI tab tells you how many you need. Strikes are rare in clear weather, better in rain and much better in a thunderstorm.[22]

Heat

Heat spreads from hotter blocks to colder ones, and only into adjacent blocks that support heat. The bigger the temperature difference, the faster it moves.[21]

Two properties control this. Thermal resistance decides how fast heat passes between objects: Torches and Air have high resistance, while Blocks of Compressed Iron have very low resistance. Thermal capacity decides how fast temperature changes: a high-capacity block takes more heat to warm up, but it also cools down more slowly.[21]

Machines lose heat to any face that touches air, and the Refinery is especially bad for this. To insulate a machine, cover every exposed face with any non-conducting block. Trapdoors and slabs work fine.[21]

Static heat sources are blocks and fluids that add or remove heat from adjacent machines. Examples include Ice, Snow, Magma and Lava. They can transform when drained: Lava cools to Obsidian, and Water may freeze or evaporate. The game tracks extracted heat separately from the block, so breaking and replacing a block won't reset it.[25]

  • Vortex Tube: turns pressure directly into heat and cold. Put a Heat Sink on the unused side for efficiency.[25]
  • Heat Sink: disperses heat or cold from the block it's attached to into the atmosphere.[25]
  • Heat Pipe: an insulated compressed iron core that moves heat between blocks without leaking into nearby air or fluids. It's a cheaper, more compact alternative to Compressed Iron Blocks, and you can attach Heat Sinks to it.[25]
  • Block of Compressed Iron: an excellent heat conductor that gives you extra faces for Heat Sinks on heat-producing machines.[17][22]
  • Heat Frame: a gadget that heats or freezes items in any inventory. It won't pull heat directly from a static heat source, but a Heat Pipe beside it can carry the heat over.[25]
Tip: Put a vanilla Furnace next to a dynamic heat source, such as a Vortex Tube or an Advanced Air Compressor, and the Furnace will run on that heat with no solid fuel. It starts working at 100°C and gets faster at higher temperatures. It also works for the Blast Furnace and Smoker.[25]

Compressed Iron and the Pressure Chamber

The mod adds no ores. You start by throwing Iron Ingots on the ground and blowing them up to get Compressed Iron Ingot. You'll lose around 20% in the blast. A Pressure Chamber can make Compressed Iron without that loss, but you need Compressed Iron to build the chamber, so a little early loss is unavoidable. Building the Pressure Chamber is one of the first goals in the mod's Getting Started steps.[15][17]

This pack also gives you extra routes. You can make Compressed Iron Ingots from Mystical Agriculture's compressed iron essence, and you can decompress the All the Compressed block back into a regular Block of Compressed Iron.[26]

Watch out: Keep multiblocks like the Pressure Chamber inside a single chunk if you can. Even when every chunk involved is chunkloaded, spanning two or more chunks isn't ideal.[27]

Unverified The exact Pressure Chamber layout, including sizes and where the walls and valves go, isn't covered by the sources available for this section.

GUIs, upgrades and charging

Most machine GUIs have side tabs. The redstone tab sets how the machine reacts to or emits redstone. The info tab explains what the machine does. The upgrades tab lists what it accepts. The pressure status tab shows current pressure and volume. If something isn't working, the problems tab points you at the cause. Some machines also have their own tabs, like the Assembly Controller's status tab.[28]

Upgrades go into machines and some tools. Their exact effect depends on the device and is documented in its GUI. To put upgrades into tools, you need a Charging Station, which also charges and discharges pneumatic items like Drones and Pneumatic Wrenches.[22][29]

The Air Canister is the crafting component for every pressurizable item. It has a volume of 3000mL, can be charged to 10 bar without exploding, and any pneumatic item crafted with it keeps the canister's air.[30]

Tip: Speed Upgrades need Lubricant, which comes from Crude Oil. If you use a Liquid Hopper or another modded tank full of Lubricant, you can craft several Speed Upgrades at once.[24][29]

Moving items, fluids and entities

  • The Logistics System moves items and fluids around and keeps your inventories and tanks stocked.[10]
  • The Aerial Interface uses the inventory of the player who placed it as its own, so you can hopper items in and out of that player. It's also one of the two ways to get Memory Essence.[22][31]
  • The Air Cannon fires items through the air. Right-click the target block with a GPS Tool, then put the GPS Tool in the cannon's GPS slot.[22]
  • The Gas Lift pumps up liquids using pressure. It places Drill Pipes downward until it hits a liquid, digging through solid blocks at a pressure cost that scales with block hardness. The minimum pressure it needs rises with depth.[22][32]
  • For hauling oil early on, a Small Tank is a simple option because it keeps its contents when broken. The Gas Lift keeps its fluid contents too.[24]
  • The Elevator moves any entity and runs on air plus Elevator Frames stacked on the base. Redstone strength 0 means 0% extension and 15 means 100%. Going back down costs no air.[22][33]

In this pack, advanced.dont_update_infinite_water_sources is set to true. That means drones, liquid hoppers and the Gas Lift won't remove a water source block if it has at least two water source neighbours, which makes water importing faster and less laggy.[34]

Drones and chunk loading

Drones are programmed with widgets that check conditions, control program flow, interact with the world, and more. Many machines and tools also use Entity Filters to choose their targets. For example, @mob matches aggressive creatures and @player matches players.[7][35][36][37][38][39]

Tip: If you want things running while you're away, chunkload the whole build. Keep it inside chunk boundaries so it's either all loaded or all unloaded. Put Security Upgrades in your machines to prevent explosions caused by chunkloading or lag hiccups. The Programmable Controller offers some limited chunkloading of its own.[27]

How do you progress through PneumaticCraft: Repressurized?

7 parts

PneumaticCraft: Repressurized is all about compressed air. Compressors are the mod's power generators, and pressure tubes carry that air to your machines. This pack has a full questline for the mod, so this section follows it from your first Compressed Iron Ingot to tier 2 compressors and the creative items.[2][3][11][40]

How pressure tiers work

Pressure is measured in bar above normal atmospheric pressure, so 0 bar is unpressurized air and -1 bar is a vacuum. Each pneumatic machine belongs to a tier that sets how much pressure it can safely handle.[23]

  • Tier one machines are nominally rated for 5 bar.[23]
  • Tier one-point-five machines can resist up to 10 bar.[23]
  • Tier two machines can resist up to 20 bar.[23]

Tier 1.5 is optional. It unlocks a few things that used to need tier 2: charging tools to 10 bar, and getting the Diamond Drill Bit, which allows 3x3 block breaking.[23]

Getting started with Compressed Iron

Everything starts with Compressed Iron Ingot, which is the very first quest in the chapter (a quest in "?"). The mod adds no new ores. Instead, you throw iron ingots on the ground and set off an explosion next to them. TNT works, but any explosion will do.[11][17]

Explosion Crafting (pneumaticcraft)

  • any iron ingot

Recipe id: pneumaticcraft:explosion_crafting/compressed_iron_ingot

Watch out: Step back when the explosion goes off, and expect to lose around 20% of your ingots. Later you can make Compressed Iron in a Pressure Chamber without that loss, but you need Compressed Iron to build the chamber, so some early loss can't be avoided.[17]

From that first quest, the chapter branches out into several early pieces, including the Pressure Tube, Reinforced Stone, Small Fluid Tank, Omnidirectional Hopper, Liquid Hopper and a set of Compressed Iron armor.[11]

First air and the Pressure Chamber

  1. Build an Air Compressor once you have Pressure Tubes (a quest in "?"). The questline then branches to the Liquid Compressor and Thermal Compressor.[11]
  2. With Reinforced Stone and Pressure Tubes done, make a Charging Station (a quest in "?"). You need it to pressurize tools and to add upgrades to them.[11][29]
  3. After the Security Upgrade quest on the compressor branch, build the Pressure Chamber from its Pressure Chamber Wall, Pressure Chamber Valve and Pressure Chamber Interface (a quest in "?").[11]

Oil, refining and plastic

  1. The Pressure Chamber leads into oil (a quest in "?"). From there you can build the Gas Lift, Drill Pipe and Seismic Sensor, or go down the Vortex Tube path to the Heat Pipe.[11]
  2. Once you have oil and a Heat Pipe, build the Refinery: the Refinery Controller, Refinery Output and Thermal Lagging (a quest in "?"). It opens up LPG, Diesel, Kerosene and Gasoline.[11]
  3. The Diesel branch goes on to Lubricant and then the Diamond Drill Bit. The LPG branch leads to the Thermopneumatic Processing Plant (a quest in "?").[11]
  4. The Processing Plant unlocks Molten Plastic (a quest in "?"), along with the Upgrade Matrix, the Heat Frame and the food and biofuel side branches.[11]
Tip: You can use the Upgrade Matrix in place of Lapis Lazuli when crafting upgrades, which saves a lot of Lapis if you have many upgrades to make.[41]

Circuit boards and the Assembly Line

Plastic opens up a big group of quests: the Pneumatic Jackhammer, elevators, doors, the Capacitor, the Transistor, the Empty PCB and the Amadron Tablet. The Empty PCB and Amadron Tablet quests lead to the PCB Blueprint. From there you work through the UV Light Box, the Etching Tank and Etching Acid to the Unassembled PCB.[11]

Watch out: The Advanced Air and Advanced Liquid Compressors are tier 2 machines with a maximum safe pressure of 20 bar and a base output of 50mL air/tick. You must cool them: their efficiency drops as they heat up, until they stop producing air entirely.[40][42]

Endgame creative items

The pack adds its own Pressure Chamber recipes for the Creative Compressed Iron Block and the Creative Compressor, and both have quests (a quest in "?" and a quest in "?"). The Creative Compressor recipe uses several of the high-end compressors from the tier 2 branch, so plan on working through that branch first.[19][43]

How does PneumaticCraft: Repressurized work with other mods?

5 parts

PneumaticCraft isn't an island in this pack. Its parts show up in endgame crafting, machine building, oil and plastic processing, and even computer control. Here's a tour of every cross-mod connection in the pack's recipes, so you know which PneumaticCraft items to keep stocked.[19]

Endgame crafting added by the pack

The pack adds its own recipes that pull PneumaticCraft into the big endgame crafts. An Aerial Interface is one of the components of the Improbable Probability Device, alongside parts from several other mods. Micromissiles are needed for the Pulsating Black Hole.[19]

The pack also adds Pressure Chamber recipes for PneumaticCraft's creative items, and both need an ATM Star. You can make the Creative Compressed Iron Block this way. You can also make the Creative Compressor, which asks for a whole lineup of PneumaticCraft's advanced compressors.[19]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use PneumaticCraft: Repressurized?

3 parts

PneumaticCraft has its own big quest chapter in this pack, and it also appears in a handful of other chapters. The dedicated chapter takes you from your first compressed iron all the way to drones, pneumatic armor and advanced compressors. Every quest here is an item-collection task, so you complete each one by crafting or getting the item.[11][43][44][45][46][47]

The PneumaticCraft chapter: main line

  1. Start with a Compressed Iron Ingot in a quest in "?". This unlocks the early basics, including the Pressure Tube in a quest in "?", Reinforced Stone in a quest in "?", the Small Fluid Tank, hoppers, the Crop Support, the Transfer Gadget and the compressed iron armor set.[11]
  2. The Pressure Tube unlocks the Air Compressor in a quest in "?" and the Tube Junction. Pressure Tube and Reinforced Stone together unlock the Charging Station in a quest in "?".[11]
  3. After the Air Compressor you can do the Liquid Compressor, the Thermal Compressor and a Security Upgrade in a quest in "?". That upgrade plus Reinforced Stone opens the Pressure Chamber quest, a quest in "?". It asks for the wall, valve and interface.[11]
  4. Next, get a Crude Oil Bucket in a quest in "?". This leads to the oil-drilling parts and the Vortex Tube, which then unlocks the Heat Pipe and Heat Sink.[11]
  5. The Refinery quest, a quest in "?", needs both the oil quest and the Heat Pipe quest. It asks for the controller, output and Thermal Lagging, and it opens the LPG, diesel, kerosene and gasoline bucket quests.[11]
  6. LPG leads to the Thermopneumatic Processing Plant in a quest in "?". From there, Molten Plastic in a quest in "?" unlocks a large batch of quests, including the Pneumatic Jackhammer, elevators, doors, the Capacitor and the Transistor.[11]
  7. The circuit board chain comes next. You need the Empty PCB and the Amadron Tablet for the PCB Blueprint, then the UV Light Box, then the etching tank and etching acid, and then the Unassembled PCB. The Finished PCB in a quest in "?" also requires the Capacitor and Transistor quests.[11]
  8. The Finished PCB unlocks the assembly line parts, Micromissiles, the Programmer and Drone in a quest in "?", and the full pneumatic armor set in a quest in "?".[11]

Side branches

Unverified The machine upgrade quests (range, dispenser, speed, security and volume) and the advanced branch, which also includes the Aphorism Tile and a second PCB quest, depend on quests that aren't part of this mod's list. What those prerequisite quests ask for couldn't be confirmed.

Which PneumaticCraft: Repressurized config options matter?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

PneumaticCraft: Repressurized is an industrial tech mod built around compressed air, and it ships with a big common config. Here are the settings you're most likely to care about in All the Mods 10 8.1, with the exact values the pack uses.[1][34]

Unverified The available sources show this pack's values but not the mod's full list of defaults, so this section can't confirm which settings All the Mods 10 changed. It only notes a match with the default where the config's own description states the default.

Drones and chunkloading

Tip: If a drone bug is lagging or crashing a server, setting drones.stop_drone_ai to true stops all drones from running their programs. It's false in this pack.[34]

Air, machines and upgrades

Amadron and the Pressure Mechanic

  • Amadron reshuffles its periodic offers every 24,000 ticks, which is one Minecraft day. It shows up to 10 periodic offers and up to 20 villager offers.[34]
  • Non-admin players can each add up to 50 custom Amadron trades.[34]
  • villagers.mechanic_trades is set to ALL, so the Pressure Mechanic offers every trade, including the PCB Blueprint you need for normal progression.[34]
  • Mechanic house generation frequency is 8, which the config describes as the default.[34]

Recipes and worldgen

Combat and gear

  • Micromissiles don't damage terrain or start fires, and Minigun Explosive Ammo doesn't damage terrain either.[34]
  • Minigun base damage is 6 and base range is 50, before ammo bonuses and Range Upgrades.[34]
  • Bandages restore 6 health (1 health is half a heart), with a 160-tick cooldown between uses.[34]
  • The Jackhammer's Vein Miner Plus mode reaches up to 10 blocks from the mined block.[34]
  • Security Stations can be hacked, and players in Creative mode are not exempt from their protection. Only server ops are.[34]

What changed in PneumaticCraft: Repressurized between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 4.5 ships PneumaticCraft: Repressurized 8.2.13, the Minecraft 1.21.1 build of the mod. It has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier.[14]

Version bumps in the pack changelogs

Here are the updates to the mod that the pack changelogs record, oldest first:[48][49][50][51][52]

  • All the Mods 10 2.31: updated from 8.2.6 to 8.2.8.[48]
  • All the Mods 10 2.37: updated from 8.2.8 to 8.2.9.[49]
  • All the Mods 10 2.39: updated from 8.2.9 to 8.2.10.[50]
  • All the Mods 10 2.40: updated from 8.2.10 to 8.2.12.[51]
  • All the Mods 10 4.5: updated from 8.2.12 to 8.2.13.[52]

Unverified The pack changelogs only record which version the mod moved to. What changed in each of these updates (new features, fixes, balance or recipe changes) is unverified, because the mod's own changelogs for the shipped jars are not available.
