Ad-Astra: Giselle Addon is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 8.6. Add things be more convenience, compatibility for Ad Astra! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Ad-Astra: Giselle Addon?

3 parts

Ad-Astra: Giselle Addon is a small add-on for Ad Astra that adds convenience and compatibility features. Its own project page says it still has few features and that the author is collecting ideas. This pack includes version 8.1 of the NeoForge 1.21.1 build.[1][2]

What it adds

  • Oxygen Can and Netherite Oxygen Can: they store oxygen, transfer it to other oxygen loaders, and fill oxygen into all your armor and inventory. The page says to check the temperature range and to use the Netherite version on hot planets.[1]
  • Sliding Door Key: right-click to lock or unlock a Sliding Door. A locked door can only be opened or closed by redstone. It also works on the Reinforced Door and the Airlock.[1]
  • Fuel Loader: it receives fuel fluid and then fuels a Rover or Rockets within 2 blocks, a bit like a fuel station.[1]
  • Automation NASA Workbench: connect a hopper or pipe to insert ingredients and extract the rocket, so you can automate rockets with AE2 or RS.[1]
  • Gravity Normalizer and Rocket Sensor: the Gravity Normalizer normalizes the gravity of living things over a wide range. The Rocket Sensor outputs a nearby rocket's state as a redstone signal through a Comparator.[1]
  • Four enchantments: Space Breathing, Space Fire Proof, Acid Rain Proof and Gravity Normalizing. Villagers don't trade them naturally, but they are craftable. They use armor durability, or energy if the item has energy storage.[1]

Who it is for

If you travel with Ad Astra, this add-on makes space survival easier. You get portable oxygen, protection from hot planets and acid rain on Venus, and normalized gravity. It also helps if you want to automate rocket building and fueling.[1]

Compatibility with other mods

The project page lists extra integrations with other mods. Mekanism gets MekaSuit modules for breathing, fire proofing, acid rain proofing and gravity normalizing. PneumaticCraft: Repressurized gets matching armor upgrades that use air. Tinkers' Construct gets matching armor modifiers. Create Backtanks and the Create Jetpack can be used like an Oxygen Can. Applied Energistics 2 and Industrial Foregoing also get extra recipes.[1]

Tip: The add-on has test and debug commands that need permission level 2 (OP). For example, /giselle_addon equip space_suit gives you a Space Suit with full oxygen.[1]

Unverified Where this add-on fits in the pack's progression is unconfirmed. No quests in this pack involve it, it is not on the ATM Star path, and no in-jar guidebook was found. Which of the mods above are actually installed in the pack is also unconfirmed, so check before relying on those integrations. The recipes and config values for this pack are also not covered here.

How do you get started with Ad-Astra: Giselle Addon?

5 parts

Ad-Astra: Giselle Addon adds convenience items on top of Ad Astra. You don't need all of it at once. This is the order I'd make things in, starting with what keeps you alive.[1]

Step one: the Oxygen Can

Start with the Oxygen Can. It stores oxygen and can pass it to other oxygen loaders. It can also fill your armor and inventory, including Mekanism items like the Scuba Tank. The Space Breathing enchantment, module and upgrade all need an Oxygen Can in your inventory, so it comes before any of them.[1][3]

Right-click while holding it to change its mode. A HUD will show when you wear a space suit.[1]

Step two: the Netherite Oxygen Can

Check the temperature range of where you're going. On hot planets you should use the Netherite Oxygen Can instead of the normal one.[1]

Step three: the Fuel Loader

The Fuel Loader works like a fuel station. It receives fuel fluid and gives it to a Rover or Rocket within 2 blocks.[1][3]

Step four: Rocket Sensor and Automation NASA Workbench

Once launches are routine, the Rocket Sensor reads a nearby rocket's state and outputs it as a redstone signal through a Comparator. You can change the signal type in its GUI, for example rocket found, fuel loaded, flying up or launch countdown.[1][3]

Step five: armor upgrades

If you use Mekanism or PneumaticCraft armor, this pack has recipes for space-travel modules and upgrades: Space Breathing, Space Fire Proof, Acid Rain Proof and Gravity Normalizing. The pack changed all of these recipes. Here is the Module Space Breathing Unit for the MekaSuit, which also needs an Oxygen Can in your inventory.[1][3][4]

Tip: You can skip the Gravity Normalizer(Deprecated), since this pack names it as deprecated. The Module Gravity Normalizing Unit and Gravity Normalizing Upgrade also normalize gravity like the overworld in Ad Astra dimensions.[3][4]

How does Ad-Astra: Giselle Addon work?

9 parts

This addon is a set of small convenience machines and survival tools for Ad Astra. Most of it comes down to three ideas: a few machines that talk to rockets and rovers, oxygen cans that carry your air, and armor effects that let you shrug off planet hazards. Here's how each part works in this pack.[1]

Fuel Loader

The Fuel Loader works like a little fuel station. You pipe fuel fluid into it, and it hands that fuel to a nearby Rover or Rocket. The project page says the range is 2 blocks. The in-game info text takes that range as a variable, and the pack has no config file for this mod, so I can't confirm the exact value in this pack.[1][3]

It accepts fluids that carry a specific fuel tag, so other mods' fuels can work too. The mod's page lists these for the NeoForge version: anything tagged as biofuel (Industrial Foregoing is the example given), Thermal Expansion's Refined Fuel, Ultimate Car Mod's Bio Diesel, and Oritech's Turbofuel. Whether those mods are installed in this pack is not confirmed by my sources.[1][3]

Rocket Sensor

The Rocket Sensor looks for a rocket within range and turns that rocket's state into a redstone signal. You read the signal through a Comparator, so put one next to the sensor. The search range is also a variable in the info text, so I won't quote a number.[1][3]

You choose the signal type in the sensor's GUI. The sources list these options: rocket found, lander found, rocket fuel loaded, rocket flying up, and launch countdown. Rocket found, lander found, fuel loaded and flying up each output a signal when their condition is true. Launch countdown is analog: it outputs 0 at first and rises as the countdown gets lower.[3]

Automation NASA Workbench

The Automation NASA Workbench is the automation-friendly version of the rocket-building bench. Connect a hopper or a pipe to insert ingredients and to extract the finished rocket. That means you can build rockets automatically with an AE2 or Refined Storage setup.[1]

Tip: The pack changed this workbench's recipe from the mod's default, so use the recipe shown below.[4]

Gravity Normalizer

The Gravity Normalizer(Deprecated) normalizes the gravity of living things within its working area to Overworld levels. It is labeled Deprecated in this pack. The info text mentions a maximum length for the area but gives no number I can quote. For personal gravity control, the armor upgrades below are the other route.[1][3][4]

Oxygen Cans

The Oxygen Can stores oxygen and can pass it on to other oxygen loaders. It fills oxygen into all your armor and your inventory, and that includes Mekanism items such as the Scuba Tank. Right-click while holding it to change its mode. When you wear a spacesuit, a HUD is shown. It is also Curios compatible.[1]

Check the temperature range of the planet you're visiting. On hot planets, use the Netherite Oxygen Can instead of the normal can. The upgrade uses a special can-upgrading recipe that starts from a normal Oxygen Can.[1][4]

Armor effects: enchantments, modules and upgrades

The same four effects come in several forms: Space Breathing, Space Fire Proof, Acid Rain Proof and Gravity Normalizing. Space Breathing lets you breathe in Ad Astra dimensions. Space Fire Proof stops you being set on fire there, which matters on hot planets such as Mercury and Venus. Acid Rain Proof stops acid rain damage, and Gravity Normalizing makes gravity feel like the Overworld.[1][3]

Each effect has an enchantment, which you can craft but not get from villagers. Each also has a Tinkers' Construct armor modifier that uses an upgrade slot. Enchantments use the armor's durability, or energy instead if the item has energy storage. The mod page says those amounts are configurable, but no config file for this mod is available to me, so I can't say what the pack uses.[1][3]

Watch out: Space Breathing needs an enabled Oxygen Can in your inventory, whichever form you use. The effect isn't a free air supply on its own.[1][3]

Mekanism modules

For a MekaSuit, the addon adds four modules that run on energy: Module Space Breathing Unit, Module Space Fire Proof Unit, Module Acid Rain Proof Unit and Module Gravity Normalizing Unit. The breathing unit also fills the held item with Mekanism oxygen gas when you're in water or rain. It supplies air to you in water too, like the Electrolytic Breathing Unit.[1][3][4]

The pack changed all four module recipes from the mod's defaults. Here is the breathing unit's recipe as an example.[1][4]

How do you progress through Ad-Astra: Giselle Addon?

4 parts

This addon builds on Ad Astra, and in this pack its content falls into groups: standalone gear and machines, a Netherite upgrade for the oxygen can, and compat items for Mekanism and PneumaticCraft. The sources I have only give recipes, so the order below follows how the recipes build on each other, not a quest path.[4]

Unverified The sources here show no quests involving this addon, so the pack's quest book gives no order for when to make any of these items. Treat the order below as a suggestion based on the recipes.

Basic gear

Your starting items are the Oxygen Can, the Fuel Loader and the Rocket Sensor. These use the mod's own recipes, and the pack has not changed them.[4]

How does Ad-Astra: Giselle Addon work with other mods?

3 parts

In this pack, Ad-Astra: Giselle Addon connects to other mods through crafting recipes. It has Mekanism and PneumaticCraft compat recipes, and its own machines are built on Ad Astra parts. Every recipe below except the Gravity Normalizer is marked as changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's default recipes.[4]

Mekanism

The addon has four Mekanism compat recipes, one for each of its protection effects: Module Space Breathing Unit, Module Space Fire Proof Unit, Module Acid Rain Proof Unit and Module Gravity Normalizing Unit. They are the Mekanism-side counterparts of the addon's four enchantments: Space Breathing, Space Fire Proof, Acid Rain Proof and Gravity Normalizing.[1][4]
